preamble

Sport is a prevalent activity in Cameroon, with both adults and youth declaring to actively participate in one or more sport-related activities. It may appear that sports in Cameroon are progressing in the right direction. But most of these activities take place in an unsafe and unregulated environment. The health benefits of physical activity are proven, and there is a lot of literature that supports this. In numerous countries with high incomes, such as the USA and Europe, and in more affluent parts of low-income countries. The benefits of physical activity are usually greater than the risks of accessing safe spaces for leisure physical activity (Elshahat et al. Citation2020).

Nonetheless, for the majority of urban residents in African cities like Yaounde, especially those with lower socio-economic status. We can observe how leisure physical activity is being carried out in unsafe and potentially harmful environments which puts participants at risk for injury due the fact these activities are conducted most time close to traffic roads , public landfill and manage with bad practices.

The majority of attention was given to completing the event, with less attention environment and the well-being of the attendees. objectives VISION THE NEED

MISSION

Sport in Africa often involves the search and acquisition of young talent for professional sports. At the grassroots level, there is still a significant amount of work to be done to enable the vast majority of youth participants in sports in Africa to enjoy and play sports, in an environment that is good, safe, ethical, and trusting.

.

The mission of the Jeanne d'Arc Foundation (JAF) is to become a foundation that transforms youth through the combination of education and culture in safe, ethical and health environment

Sport plays a significant role in sustainable development. We recognize the growing contribution of sport to the realization of development and peace. In its promotion of tolerance and respect, it contributes to the empowerment of women and young people. The objectives involve both individuals and communities, as well as health, education, and social inclusion.

“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.”

THE START

The activities carried out during this exercise have allowed us to draw frank and honest observations for the future of our actions.

Indeed, we noted that either in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, or in the township of Akono where we have our different activities, we are not very well known, due to the fact that we concentrate our times and finance at first on the construction of the two playgrounds where we conduct our main activities.

We were aware that starting from scratch represented a danger. However, To prepare for the next exercise, we had to examine our conscience and determine our actions.

THE PROCESS THE CHALLENGE

We observed that our actions had more intangible effects than tangible ones.

For example Abbé Placide Principal of Stoll D'akono College confirmed that the only presence of a new playground in the college reduced the rate of violence during the last school year and pushed students to try a new sport but at the same time it created a problem of integration between the students of the college and the young externs of the city of Akono since the interns did not easily leave the playground to the others.

So we agreed on the need for clarity on the path to take, and this will allow us to better develop the association and its action on the ground. Another aspect and not the least the financing of the association as we can see in its financial report depends on 90% of the payments in its coffers of our president and the rest of the assets which are for the most part donations in kind of our current partners, the registrations of its members.

This is a situation that we wish to change radically from the next year .We started some exchanges with potential partners and financiers during working meetings, and the organization of next events and paying programs for the participants.

In the meantime we will propose to the next ordinary general assembly new perspectives more in line with our potentialities and consequently, more inclusive projects for us and especially budgeted according to the estimated revenues.

OUR NEXT PROJECTS

In this section, we aim to explain the methodology behind our initial impact report. While it still does not exist, an universal standard guideline for reporting financial and impact activities for social enterprises, NGOs, and related entities. We are inspired to create our impact report by reviewing the annual reports of Peace Players and LoveFutbol, two sports for development organizations that share similar activities with us. We gather our data in two forms: quantitative and qualitative. And process them in three phases: collection, analysis, and presentation.

Quantitative Data

The number of beneficiaries are established in direct (young people who participate in the activities and their educator) and indirect (parents, city council, other partnering association, sponsors, general public, school's management, school entity, local sport government etc.…), for our impact report we decide to report only direct beneficiaries number.

Specific metrics from our projects

In both projects, we work with schools to determine the appropriate company to renovate the basketball court through Expense Management and Budgetary Control. A committee composed of JAF members and the school's management is responsible for deciding and overseeing the work of the chosen company.

Program Expense Ratio

Majority of our expenses are concentrated in projects expenses.

Interviews are conducted in the moral report section to report improvements in community sports and health habits practices. The summary section ties together short-term and long-term goals.

Continuous learning and adaptation are a part of every section, where we aim to improve our skills. Learning from the ground experience

Qualitative Data

Personal stories testimonials and case studies Verbal and written feedback is collected between our meetings with primary stakeholders (kids' parents, school management, sponsors, donors etc.…,) and resume in the various sections of our impact reports

Accuracy in our data Collection

To evaluate and monitor the impact of our projects, surveys are carried out among participants and educators during the academic season.

Online resource for template survey: https://www.sport-for-development.com/

To learn more about our impact on participants' school results and lives, interviews are held with primary stakeholders, such as the school chief.

Data collection

Financial data collection

Our treasurer compiles spreadsheets and documents to report and track financial data, and he is responsible for evaluating with our board members during meetings. We also conduct an independent audit.

Activity data collection

During the execution of our activities, our contractors and volunteers compile spreadsheets and documents to report and track activity data, and we evaluate them during our monthly meeting of JAF members.
