NEW AT THE LIBRARY!

Our baby stations allow you to get your work done while keeping your little ones close. We have two in the branch, one at the front near the printer, and a second at the back in the children’s area. You’re welcome to bring toys for your little one to play with while you work, or find some in the Talley Story Theater. These stations are reserved just for you and your family!

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER Gregory Hill

Meet our new Acting CEO, Gregory Alan Hill, Sr.! He is a retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, and after serving 23 years, returned to school; obtaining a Masters in Library and Information Science degree from IUPUI, and then a Master of Science (M.S.) in Strategic Management, from Indiana Wesleyan University. He began his library career, while attending school, in May 2011, as a Library Assistant II. He previously served as a reference librarian at Central, Decatur Library Branch Manager, Lawrence Branch Manager, Area Resource Manager, East Region, and Interim Chief Public Services Officer. Hill is currently serving as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Indianapolis Public Library.

The East 38th Street Zine Collection was created to expand the number of available reading materials for library patrons who are seeking perspectives closer to their own. This collection supports the Library’s mission to provide access to additional material formats written by and for BIPOC through our commitment to racial equity and inclusion. The collection currently contains over 250 zines available for checkout with your library card.

THE SMALL PRINT

The author contrasts the terms and conditions of financial offers with the real-life needs of the people they are marketed to. Unique woven artwork on every page illustrates navigation through systems designed to confuse and obfuscate.

EXISTENTIAL DREAD

Watercolor images illustrate the author’s thoughts about the continuing relentlessness of her anxiety and depression, and her determination to overcome mental illness.

TELL ME WHERE WE GO FROM HERE

At the start of the pandemic, a newly formed community found and maintained connection through their love of the band My Chemical Romance. This anthology shares the ways their lives shaped by music.

SIXTEEN YEARS SOBER AND I WAS THINKING ABOUT RELAPSING

Author Enola Dismay writes about her meth addiction and her compulsion to relapse while working at a homeless shelter, after 16 years of sobriety.

One young woman’s art and poetry about race, gender, and identity.
