NBA: The National Basketball

Association season is coming to a standstill. With only about a week left in the season, the Golden State Warriors are looking to make history, as they are 1 win away from having the best record in NBA history. Their star player, Steph Curry, is also having a tremendous season and is the favorite to win Most Valuable Player. One of the all time great players, Kobe Bryant, is retiring this season. He has had a tremendous career and is (the goat) considered one of the all time greats. Its sad to see him leave, but he has left a huge impact on the NBA. Russell Westbrook has also had an amazing year. He averages a double-double (10+ points and 10+ assists), and is close to a triple double (also 10+ rebounds). The playoffs have starting this week. The Golden State Warriors are looking to defend their title, while teams like the Spurs, Cavaliers, and Thunder will look to stop them. This years NBA playoffs are going to be very exciting.

LIONELMESSI BYJOEZ. Before you criticize this article, stop and let me take a few minutes of your time. I assure you that by the time you are done with this article, you will be a lot more informed about one of the best soccer players in the world. Even people who do not play soccer must have heard the name Messi at least once. Messi is a very popular figure to many people who play soccer. With many tricks and skills to hold soccer records, he lit the fire in many young soccer athletes as they thrive to become a professional soccer player. People

wonder how this young man became so popular. After all, it would be interesting to know where the so called "King of Spain" comes from. Let's go back into his past.

EARLYLIFE Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina on June 24, 1987. By the time he was 8, Messi played for the Newell's Old Boys, a Rosario based top division club. He was shorter than most of his people in his age group and later was diagnosed by doctors that he is suffering a hormone deficiency, a condition where he can't produce enough growth hormones to make him taller. At age 13, Messi was given an offer at the FC Barcelona under 14 team. They were told that Messi's medical costs would be paid by them if he played for the team. So his family moved to Barcelona and started a new life.

Animals are great companions they bring lots of joy! A pets purpose can range from being your running partner, to just being your best friend. Not only do they bring companionship they also can be great guards. Many people take their pets for granted and then many end up in the shelter which results in many animals at the shelter being euthanized due to limited space. Each year approximately 2.7 million animals are euthanized across the world and there are only 2.7 animals adopted. That means the ratio of animals being euthanized to the animals being rescued is 50/ 50 (ASPCA). No matter who you are or what you are going through, you can always rely on your pet to be by your side. W h y you sh ou l d a d opt : Many animals around the world are sold for free, but you don?t really know where the animal has been, its history, or whether it is healthy or not. When you adopt an animal from a shelter, you are not only saving the life of the animal you adopted, but also the lives of many other animals at the shelter. The St. Joseph Animal Shelter has a variety of pets to choose from, although adopting a dog is a teeny bit more expensive than getting a free animal online, the money you spend on the animal that you adopted goes towards the shelter and the animals. Also when you adopt it ensures the animal is healthy and ready to go into a home. A d opt i on Fees: Now that you know how to adopt you?re probably wondering how much is this going to cost? An adoption fee for a female cat is going to cost you $77.50 this will include spay, neuter, a microchip, city registration, vaccinations, and the actual adoption fee of $5. For a male cat it will cost you $67.50 and include the same as the package would for a female cat. All dogs will cost $130 or less. It will include the same as the cats would have but the spay and neuter fees are going to vary more depending on the size of the dog. The Backseat Gamers

Reader's Choice : Mario Kart Wii Mario Kart Wii was Ansh's introduction to the world of video games, and good thing he got off on the right foot! The Mario Kart series was one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, but it really took off with the introduction of their new game for their newest console : the Wii. Mario kart was one of the biggest factors in the explosion of sales for not only the franchise, but the whole console industry as a whole. The Nintendo Wii is the 5th most sold console, and the 3rd most sold home console. This is largely attributed to Mario Kart Wii. Why was Mario Kart Wii so successful? Many believe it was because of its innovation. It introduced motorcycles, which allowed for more control over speed, and allowed you to do a wheelie, sacrificing control for a boost of speed. It introduced a whole new set of beautifully rendered tracks, which included a whole new layer of movement and interaction. Mario Kart is for the Wii, and Nintendo decided to try something new; they introduced a specific controller for racing games, but most specifically, Mario Kart. This was the Wii Wheel, and it allowed for amazing controls, with the feel of a real steering wheel. This set the stage for many controllers that would follow. Mario Kart also introduced a whole new roster full of new characters, paving the way for many future Mario games.

Germany had a dude named Ot t o Von Bismarck at t he posit ion of Chancel l or, and he was making Germany pret t y noice. Then t his dude Wil hel m II came al ong and he was real l y mad because Ot t o was get t ing al l t he babes and f ame, so he basical l y made him ret ire (which proved t o suck because Wil hel m II was kinda t erribl e at maint aining al l iances and dipl omacy in general .) Ot t o had been grinding t o keep Russia on Germany?s side, but af t er he was viciousl y murdered (by nat ural causes) Russia signed a t reat y wit h France which event ual l y l ed t o Russia going wit h t he Al l ied Powers. Germany event ual l y maint ained an al l iance wit h t hemsel ves, Aust ria-Hungary, and It al y. These al l iances pl us t he f act t hat al l t hese count ries had new and excit ing weapons t hey coul dn?t wait t o t ry on each ot her (cl assical Europe, al ways want ing t o sl aught er each ot her) l ed t o a breaking point , broken by Archduke Franz Ferdinand being assassinat ed. Bef ore we get int o t he act ual war, I need t o go over Bismarck?s l ast words t o Wil hel m II. In 1897, a year bef ore his deat h, Bismarck pul l ed some serious David Bl aine st uf f and warned Kaiser Wil hel m II. He said,?Jena came t went y years af t er t he deat h of Frederick The Great ; t he crash wil l come t went y years af t er my depart ure if t hings go on l ike t his.? Jena was a bat t l e in which Prussia (basical l y part of Germany) l ost , al most 20 years af t er a great mil it ary l eader, Frederick t he Great , died. He predict ed a great war about 20 years af t er his deat h. Guess what ? Ot t o Von Bismarck deat h dat e: 1898. Worl d War I st art dat e: 1914. Al most 20 years af t er his deat h. It doesn?t end t here, he goes even deeper. He went on t o st at e,?One day t he great European War wil l come f rom some damned f ool ish t hing in t he Bal kans? (SPOILER ALERT: HE WAS RIGHT). End of t he day, t his dude was pret t y noice.

WORLD WAR I We are now shif t ing our f ocus l ess on t he pol it ical aspect s of Worl d War I and more on t he physical aspect s. At t he t ime everyone expect ed a quick war, which t ypical l y happened during t hese t imes. The big t hing about Worl d War I was t he use of out dat ed t act ics in comparison t o t he huge t echnol ogical advances. So at t he core t hey had t hese real l y cool new weapons t hat t hey al l want ed t o t ry out but t hey did not expect t heir enemies t o al so have pret t y cool weapons. This resul t ed in l arge st al emat es f rom bot h sides not real l y knowing how t o use and count er t he new t echnol ogy, which equal ed what is known as ?t rench warf are.? This kinda sucked and is most f amous f or happening on t he west ern f ront (Germany vs. France, Brit ain, US) in bat t l es l ike Verdun and t he Marne. Trench warf are was super boring and dumb because most of it was t wo dif f erent count ries in t heir t renches st aring at each ot her f rom a dist ance. How did t his resul t in a st al emat e? Wel l , l ike I ment ioned earl ier, t he t act ics on bot h sides were not keeping up wit h t echnol ogy so no side was abl e t o gain an advant age f or a majorit y of t he t ime. At t acks basical l y amount ed t o charges f rom t he eit her side, running across ground l it t ered wit h l andmines and barbed wire, meanwhil e you have t he enemy f iring st raight at you wit h t heir new and improved machine guns. This get s pret t y annoying when al l you do is sit in t he rat inf est ed, dirt y, diseased t renches al l day wait ing f or an at t ack. This got bot h sides t hinking,?What can we do t o get t o t heir t renches?? The answer bot h sides came up wit h? Gas. This became one of t he very f amous aspect s of Worl d War I. Bot h sides became f il l ed wit h dread when t hey saw t he t el l t al e green-yel l ow gas cl oud of chl orine gas. Though st il l a t errif ying sight , gas event ual l y became l argel y inef f ect ive due t o gas masks becoming widel y avail abl e.

RIPPLE EFFECTS OF WAR By: Thomas S.

Ment al Ef f ect s War changes people in many different ways from War- Families to the citizens it supposedly protects and defends. See, war really harms the minds of family members of those in it. More than likely for many mental harm to a family member is based around stress, the spouse of a member of some military group is probably scared to lose them and adding the stress of trying to take care of the family on their own will cause some damage. While with children it?s even worse they?re still developing according to Brainline military ?The unique nature of PTSD, mTBI or disorders such as depression ? causing changes in personality and/ or behavior without altering physical appearance ? is especially confusing for children of all ages.? Ef f ect s of PTSD PTSD a disorder that develops in some people who have seen or lived through a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. It can hurt anybody not trying to scare anybody but it is terrifying many people describe it as an almost constant Red Alert, as though any moment something terrible is going to happen. Now try to think of what it?d be like to be a child around somebody with it. Adults can barely cope with it, how do you think children feel? The entire family take it all as hard to understand in all honesty paranoia will seep into everyone?s mind sooner or later (Carl son).

COULDBERNIEBEATHILLARY? Wit h t he Democrat ic-Social ist gaining t ract ion wit h young vot ers and racking up point s in st at es such as Al aska, Washingt on, and Wisconsin, Hil l ary vot ers may not be l ooking at a guarant eed sl ot in t he November bal l ot . However, t he democrat ic primary is no shoe-in.
