Truth be told, I always found it to introduce the crowd rather than myself. So, she is named Rovena Choytah - who would adopt along with the pace of nature, the succulents themselves; who would tap her feet and dance tirelessly to compensate for a sedentary week; who would have loved to craft stories, bake cookies, and sell candles when she is not pulling off long hours at work, an auditor by profession, in a not so ergonomic posture. Over the years, she has been able to undust the layers of low self-esteem, hesitation, and shyness to embrace not only the academics, but the extracurricular where she got various opportunities to be the leader, negotiator, presenter, researcher, critic, thinker, challenger, innovator or a mere member - yet all contributing to gain public speaking, writing, decision-making and analytical skills. Through and beyond the box-like screen, she has eventually learnt what the world looks like - woes and wars, all living for the little things - and world issues like equality, human rights, ecosystem, gender-based violence, war-afflicted countries, refugees & asylum seekers, women, empowerment, marginalisation and uncountable more keep her hooked up, plus has grown her empathy to contribute towards the collective good as much as she can. She utterly believes that being an aspiring member of JCI Quatre Bornes is a door open to working in a team and in cohesion towards putting in action ideas/projects for and with the society at large. She aims to concretely add to the journey of marvellous and well-led projects by JCI Quatre Bornes.

Greetings,

Brought up in a modest family, where education has been highly valued as the mighty armour for a better life, I have as well at all times sought to incorporate extracurricular activities which enabled me today to inculcate no less than the panoply of skills of a ringmaster and a performer. In this light, my family has always been my ultimate backbone. Living up to their dream, I am today a graduate of Engineering and IT from the University of Mauritius. I am currently working in one of the sectors that has probably grown and sometimes outgrown to co-exist with human-the technology sector. An extrovert at heart, in speech and in action since primary days, this led me to thrive and excel in my participations in non-academic activities such as Model United Nations, Drama, Public Speaking and Debates amongst others. I, also, still hold memorably to the moment where I was elected ‘Tete de liste’ and appointed as Vice President for the University Students’ Union elections (2018-2019). All inclusive, gave me opportunities to be an artist where I have been able to set up a stage, direct a performance, bring alive projects for the larger good and simultaneously manage the backstage.

Amidst all, I vehemently believe in my culture and tradition, as I hold the land of my ancestors as well - India, close to my heart. Being an Overseas Citizen of India, I have gladly represented Mauritius in India in 2019 through the Indian Embassy. Similarly, I take utter pride in speaking Hindi/Bhojpuri as one of the mother tongue languages and was ranked first worldwide in Hindi for the HSC exams. Rolling my sleeves up, I intend to engage with JCI Quatre Bornes, with much determination and willingness to bring about constant changes in the society. For every small action count, I trust that our collective dedication backed by our individualistic efforts will help build a better world.

Let it be the first time to speak what we feared of,

Let it be the first time to write what we are denied of,

Let it be the first time to share the goodwill we all dream of,

For everything has a first time.

As a creative person, my goal is to express truth and beauty in whatever I do. That is why I chose Graphic Design as my profession. It helps me to be curious, flexible and independent. For me, it combines intelligence and fun which gives me a feeling I cannot express. I was born in a modest family who supported me in all aspects of my life. They gave me the best gift any person can get, education. I am currently working at a prestigious company where I’m able to practice my passion. As a person, I’m an introvert who prefers listening to talking and I try my best to be a better version of myself. That is why I joined JCI to overcome my timidity and become the person I want to be. It will help me improve my communication skills and try to help make our society a better place. Every action to improve our society counts.
