The Junior Chamber movement was officially started in 1915 by Henry Giessenbier Jr. in Missouri, USA. The JC movement aims to study civic and business problems. The movement took up momentum to spread around the world and by 1954, it was introduced to Malaysia.

JCI Bandar Klang was founded in 2016 by Charter President, Timothy Chu.

Firstly, I did not expect the first newsletter to win Best Newsletter at the 2018 APCSC! I live to challenge status quo.

Therefore this newsletter will also highlight the beauty of Bandar Klang to JCI and all stakeholders.

This reflects our vision to "Maju Bersama Klang" I would like to thank the board of JCI Bandar Klang for allowing me to be creative freely.

Hello again, how quickly time passes and it seemed like yesterday when I wrote the message for the first Enewsletter of JCI Bandar Klang..

We have been kept busy by a myriad of activities, from our flagship community project, Be A Buddy, Not A Bully to starting Entrepreneur Business Club.

My team has never failed to amaze me with their teamwork and dedication. I hope we will maintain our momentum to achieve more everyday! Thank you.

Community PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk Did you know that as a royal town and former capital of Selangor, Klang is characterized by historic buildings and quaint, traditional structures?

Klang’s heritage quarters may be visited on foot via an interesting walking tour provided free-of-charge by the city’s municipal council and Tourism Selangor, who’ve identified up to 11 tourist attractions for the walk, including: Sultan Abdullah Gallery Little India (Tengku Kelana Street) The former Chartered Bank building Royal Klang Club Alam Shah Palace Church of Our Lady of Lourdes Klang Convent School Tengku Kelana Indian Muslim Mosque Sri Nagara Thendayuthapani Temple Klang Fire Station Raja Abdullah Warehouse The Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk is conducted by professional guides, with entry to exclusive venues only on this walk.

The under 3km trail is relatively easy as the route follows footpaths in and around the city center. The walking tour takes about 2.5 hours to complete and is conducted in English.

To reduce dependence on sponsorship, we have sold more than 700 Buddy Not Bully T-shirts as a way of sustaining this project which has impacted 10,000 students to date.

Our efforts have been recognized by being shortlisted in 2018 JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Award. We would like to thank our partners, sponsors, school administrations and all other parties involved for making this campaign a success.

This anti-bullying project was started in 2017 as our way of helping schools in Klang to promote a non-violent learning environment.

International Did you know that Port Klang is the world's 12th largest port?

Strategically located, Port Klang is Malaysia's busiest port, It is a mere 6 km southwest of Klang city centre.

The Selangor state government has identified Port Klang as an ideal location for the next Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) according to State Senior Executive Councillor, Datuk Teng Chang Kim. DFTZ would boost Port Klang’s ranking to become the 10th largest container port in the world from the current 12th position, as it would provide local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the opportunity to export their products globally via e-commerce.

Through the DFTZ, Malaysia would serve as a regional e-fulfilment centre and regional hub for SMEs and marketplaces.

Date: 09 July 2018 Location: Organic Durian Farm, Banting Durian lovers from several JCI LOs were very fortunate to have the oppurtunity to visit HT, Andrew Goh's family durian farm.

We were able to collect our own durians and learn about durian farming from the gracious owner, Mr Sua. Mangosteens were available for those who dislike durians!

Since opening its doors for business in 2009, GM Klang Wholesale City has become a key go-to place in Malaysia for sourcing of products and purchases on wholesale basis.

GM Klang is also selected as 2018 Duta Pelancongan Daerah Klang.

CORPORATE VISIT: LAY HONG BERHAD

Lay Hong Berhad Group first commenced layer farming operations in the 1960s.

Since then, the company has established itself as the leading producer of fresh farm eggs in Malaysia.

2018 BUSINESS SUMMIT AT SIBU, SARAWAK

JCI Bandar Klang members were in Sibu , Sarawak to be a part of Business Summit organized by JCI Malaysia on 22nd of July.

Besides business sharing and networking, members were able to meet National Presidents from Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc.
