Message from the JCC Chief Executive Officer & President Tonight, we honor the Koenig Family and celebrate 10 years of The Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center at JCC Rockland’s Night Under The Stars. Over 30 years ago the Koenig family had a vision to honor Deborah’s z”l memory in a profound way. From supporting a bustling parenting center at what was then the JCC-Y of Rockland on Route 45 to the opening of our full day early childhood center here at the JCC ten years ago. In the past ten years, the Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center has grown from an early childhood center with 3 classrooms with 18 children, to a school with 11 classrooms with 110 children. With all the horrors and tragedies that have occurred and continue to occur in Israel, we had to ask ourselves if this celebration should go on. After selling out the event it became clear that our community needs and wants to come together to celebrate and support our future which includes many young families. The Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center is their child’s foundation to Jewish education and traditions which fosters a lifelong love of learning. Thank you to all in attendance and the community for your support of JCC Rockland, the Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center and the Koenig Family. Proceeds from tonight help the JCC meet its goal of serving the community. Furthermore, Israel is an important part of the curriculum of the Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center. As we sing and celebrate the Koenig Family and 10 years of the Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center, may we also stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel. Am Yisrael Chai. Our Honorees The Koenig Family are pillars in the Jewish Community with a strong belief in Jewish education. They have been philanthropic leaders of JCC Rockland for over 30 years. They were very proud to dedicate the Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center which opened 10 years ago with 18 children and has grown to over 100 children today. They continue to invest in its growth over the years, and truly see this honor as a “family affair.” Ed and Ann z”l and their children David,Jeffrey & Elissa have enjoyed watching their own next generation, Brandon, Daniel, Rebecca, Kenneth, Daphne & Julie participate in many JCC programs over the years. When the Koenig family think of Deborah z”l, their beloved daughter and sister, they Think of laughter, Think of children, Think of love. Deborah’s z”l passion and her desire to live life to its fullest are the flames that will continue to live on through the children and families who make up the Deborah Koenig Early Childhood Center. May her memory continue to serve as an inspiration and a blessing.
