Thursday evenings

This 12-week series is not a league and not USBC sanctioned. It is open to USBC adult bowlers 21 years and older; Youth bowlers are not eligible to participate. One in three will advance to the Grand Championships on Aug. 14. You must bowl in 50% of the series to bowl for the Grand Championship. Prizes will be awarded every night.

RV PARK

The RV Park has 74 full hookup RV pull-through sites with water, sewage and electricity. There are also two shower facilities and two laundry facilities for the customer’s convenience. All sites are 30/50 amp. Every site has a patio with a picnic table and 69 sites have a grill. There is a maximum stay limit of 30 days and reservations are taken up to 90 days in advance.

Whether you’re taking your boat out for fishing or water skiing, JBSA-Outdoor Recreation has all the proper equipment to have the perfect day on the water. If staying on land is more your speed, hide under some shade with their pop-up canopies or have a shady picnic with their 55-gallon coolers and BBQ grills. ODR has campers and tents available for the perfect camping weekend under the stars. Summer vacation has officially started, which means it’s the perfect time for a chilled beverage! Are you interested in selling a vehicle? To place a vehicle in the Resale Lot, patrons must have proof of insurance, registration and the vehicle must be in their name. Call for more information about pricing.

RV STORAGE

There are 230 RV storage sites available for rent on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. The cost is $60 per month or $600 per year. Current vehicle registration and insurance is required.

The rates are $30 per day, $180 per week and $650 per month. The cost for sponsored visitors is $35 per day. The RV Park Office is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mon.-Fri. and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sat.-Sun. with limited services. The Park Office is closed on holidays. SUMMER CAMPS

The Equestrian Center is offering horsemanship camps this summer. Registration for these camps opens on May 15 and a $50 non-refundable deposit is required at time of registration. The camp is for youth ages seven and older and costs $395 per youth. Camp runs Mon.-Fri. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when school is out for the summer. Camps will not be held during the weeks there are federal holidays – only full weeks.

RIDING LESSONS

By Appointment Only

The Equestrian Center offers horseback riding lessons for all levels of riders in both Englishand Western-style. Therapeutic riding lessons are also available and taught by certified instructors. Horses, saddles and tack for lessons will be provided if needed. Patrons must be at least seven years old. The price is $60 per hour for a private lesson, $50 for semi-private and $40 for group lessons.

Saturdays and Sundays

Summer weather is here and it's a great time to take a horseback ride on the trails at the Equestrian Center! Riders need to be a minimum of 4'6' tall, 7 years and older and weigh no more than 200 pounds. Adults must accompany children younger than age of 13. The cost is $30 per person and helmets are provided. Led by a qualified trail guide and no riding experience needed. Call to make a reservation.

PONY RIDES AND PARTIES

The Equestrian Center offers parent-led pony rides for $10 for children that do not meet age/height requirements for trail rides on Saturdays and Sundays. 3D ARCHERY SHOOT

Registration is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The 3-D Archery Range consists of 30 life-like animal targets i.e., bears, black panthers, deer, alligator etc. The targets are set up between 5 & 55 yards at different distances. Traditional (long bows and recurve bows) and compound bows are allowed, no crossbows. We have recurve bows available to rent for $20 each.

The cost is $5 for E1 through E4, active duty or medically retired, $15 for 13 years of age and older and $5 for youth 12 and younger.

LICENSE TO CARRY (LTC) CLASSES

May 10 & 24 and June 14 & 28

8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students must be 18 years of age or older. You need to be familiar with your firearm, no first-time shooters. Students must also meet federal qualifications to purchase a handgun. BOATER’S SAFETY

This is a great time to take advantage of all the great boating available at the JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake and surrounding lakes. Outdoor Recreation requires a Boater’s Safety Course certificate from Texas Parks and Wildlife in order for customers to rent their powered boats.

Guests must be in the same vehicle as the sponsor.

To use the Sportsman Range, patrons must be 10 and older and be with a valid DoD ID cardholder. All shooters must come inside to sign in and present an ID. BACKPACKING FOOD CLASS AND BACKPACKING TRIP TO PEDERNALES FALLS

Food class: May 13 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Trip: Departing Lackland ODR on May 17 at 8 a.m. and returning on May 18 at 2 p.m. Say goodbye to store bought backpacking meals and learn to make your own! Join the class on May 13 and learn how to make your own backpacking food. Then on the trip, we will explore the Pedernales Falls Park and hike to the campsite. The total cost for the workshop and the trip is $65. Round trip transportation from Lackland ODR, instruction, all food and equipment are provided.

KAYAK THE SAN ANTONIO RIVER

June 6 • 7-10:30 p.m.

Welcome the summer and beat the heat with a nighttime paddle on the San Antonio River! Join us as we team up with the San Antonio River Authority for this unique opportunity. Ages 8 and older are welcome but ages 8-11 must ride in tandem with an adult. Ages 12 and older can paddle their own craft. Tandem kayaks are limited. The cost of this program is $20, which includes round trip transportation from Fort Sam Houston, personal flotation devices and kayak equipment. Deadline to sign up is May 30 or when filled.

ANNUAL PASS SAVES YOU MONEY!

Purchase a Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park at Canyon Lake annual pass for $100 for you and a spouse. Buy one and enjoy the lake all year. This pass gets you into both Sunny Side and Hancock Cove sides of the facility. Otherwise,

the daily entry fee for the park is $15 per visit, per vehicle. Annual passes include a vehicle and boat/trailer pass and are valid for one year from the date of issue for daily use only. Two-person team flighted competition. DoD ID cardholders and civilians are eligible to enter.

The lowest verifiable handicap of each team will be used for flighting purposes. There will be two rounds with a scramble format for day one and best ball format for day two.
