COMPANY PROFILE 2023

Founded on February 13, 1975, as a privately held entity owned by the Government of Jamaica, Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited (JBM) emerged as the cornerstone of Jamaica’s bauxite industry to effectively manage operational partnerships within this sector.

As global dynamics has reshaped the mining landscape and business resilience and environmental guardianship has propelled JBM’s focus on a transformative journey that we today embrace and redefine the operational blueprint of our current strategic direction and that of a forward-thinking enterprise.

Today, JBM stands at the crossroads of transformation, having meticulously restructured operations to synchronize with initiatives to further shape a future of boundless potential as a national conglomerate with four distinct yet interconnected domains, manufacturing, and distribution; real estate development and management; bulk export facilitation of limestone, and sustained responsible mining.

JBM (Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited) takes charge of vital assets in St. Ann on behalf of the Government of Jamaica. The company is an embodiment of progress, sustainability, and social responsibility. Through each service we offer, we manifest our dedication to excellence and innovation, fostering growth in tandem with enriching the fabric of our local communities.

The management structure of JBM is a functional one that consists of four (4) pillars of JBM - Port Management, Land Development, Commercial Property and Custodial Management, led by the Executive Office.

JBM manages assets on behalf of the Government in the Bauxite and Alumina industry within the parish of St. Ann. The Company holds a fiduciary responsibility to protect the interest of the Government through making sound decisions to achieve maximum returns.

JBM's current equity interest and the majority shareholding (51%) in Discovery Bauxite Partners (DBP), whose parent company is Concord Resources and the refinery plant is based in Grammercy, Louisiana, USA. DBP produces and exports the most bauxite in Jamaica - over 2.6 million metric tonnes per year.

This includes:

Providing port services for cruise and cargo vessels; Storing cargo to be shipped, and loading sugar and limestone ships;

Providing facilities for bunkering of ships;

Providing dry-docking facilities for small to medium-sized boats; Scale services (primarily the weighing of trucks); Equipment rental; Commercial Water sale to ships.

Port and Operations oversee the day-to day management of the pier and its operations at the Reynolds Pier.

Under our remit is the management of residential properties and commercial spaces, namely two housing developments – Orange Park, Crescent Park and Beulah Park; and Reynold's Plant located in Lydford, St. Ann – which constitute storage spaces, office buildings, catering facilities and mechanical servicing amenities along with their supporting infrastructure.

Housing developments are rented as residential units. Ongoing maintenance of these facilities promote viability of these properties as JBM continues to plan for the integration of systems and the optimization of these facilities to create new and sustainable business lines.

JBM Limited in alignment with its strategic imperative has identified and is actively pursuing the following projects:

Ochi Alkaline Spring Water

Leveraging proximity to Reynolds Pier, JBM ventures into the bottled water market by harnessing a natural spring resource A strategic move to diversify offerings while capitalizing on existing assets for sustainable growth

With the use of over 88,000 sq. ft., the Company is undertaking a grand project that will see the transformation of three (3) dilapidated warehouse, steel-framed structures into rentable spaces for commercial storage and industrial occupancy in Lydford, Golden Grove within the parish of St. Ann.

Commercial Park

JBM pioneers a transformative endeavor in the form of a mixed-use commercial complex spanning 150 acres in Lydford, St. Ann. A strategic initiative to elevate the region's economic landscape through dynamic and sustainable rural development.
