Saturday 9th July is Borstal Community Friendship Day which is being hosted jointly by St Matthew’s Church and Borstal Baptist Church and will take place at The Pilgrim School between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. We hope to see as many of you as possible at this very enjoyable event! All events, stalls and games are free and there will be free food and ice cream. The school choir will be singing at this event and there will also be performances from different school groups. Events will also include a bouncy castle and the Sunlight Trust Bus. Pilgrim University Week work will be on display – this will be an art display. ICT Borstal Moving Memories from the Pilgrim University Week will also be on display.

FS1 – Nursery Class Arrangements All FS1 (Nursery) children should attend from 9.30 to 11.30a.m. on Friday, 15th July to take part in the Foundation Stage sports events. As all children will be attending in the morning there will not be any FS1 session in the afternoon on this day. Parents are invited to attend this event.

The deadline for those children who have been offered the chance to attend the ‘Good Attendance School Sleepover/Fun Evening’ is Friday, 15th July.

There will be a transition afternoon on Monday, 18th July which will provide children with the opportunity to meet their class teacher for next year. Parents are invited to visit their children’s class on Monday, 11th July from 2.00 p.m. to see their children’s work and informally talk about any matters arising from school reports. You will have the opportunity to book a more formal appointment to speak with your child’s class teacher at this open afternoon.

Year 6 Presentation Evening will be taking place during the evening of Monday, 18th July. There will be a Leavers’ Service at St Matthew’s Church in Borstal Street at 2.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 20th July.


There will be a Leavers’ Assembly in the school hall at 2.00p.m. on Thursday, 21st July.

Please note that ICT club has now finished for this academic year.

The Talk2tots team will be running a Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P) at our school starting in September 2011. The course is called Group Triple P and it is specifically designed for parents/carers of children aged from two to eleven years of age. The programme is designed for all parents however and is extremely effective when used as an early intervention method for children with challenging behaviour. The programme will run over eight weeks with three of the weeks being half an hour support telephone calls from the programme facilitators. The course is evidence based and accredited and is free of charge for parents. All parents will receive a certificate at the end of the course. There will be a Meet and Greet session early in September (this date will be notified separately) for you to find out more about this course. If you would like to attend please speak to Laura Everhurst.

The Foundation Stage would like donations of small plastic bottles with lids for perfume making and also wind up Macdonalds toys. Thank you for your help.

If you want a night to remember go and seeThe Wiz! This is a small production performed by Sky High Production featuring children from Snodland and Rochester. It will be held at the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone on Tuesday, 26th and Wednesday, 27th July starting at 7.00 p.m. Tickets cost £10.00 for an adult and £6.00 for a child.
