CHHS October Newsletter-Page 7 Haunted Hike Recap“…….BOOOOO!!!” That was how scary some our Key Clubbers were during the Haunted Hike event on Saturday, October 26th at the McCoy Equestrian Center. Of course, we weren’t that scary during the entire event because there were two parts to the event, a tame version and a scary version. Members who had signed up to set-up props and “haunted tents” arrived around 11am that day. The characters, who were to be dressed up in costumes, had to arrive around 1pm. For the tame version, which was from 4pm-6pm, the characters were to just play along with the tour guides who were taking the patrons through the route. It was pretty fun. Senior Key Club member, Austin Roddick, and myself were in the Carnival/Gypsy area, and had to learn how to throw hula hoops to each other. By the end of the event, we were pros in the art of “hula hoop throwing.” Member Shana Wang as well as Officer Jaihee Choi interacted with the tour guides and the children, who seemed to be having a great time. BUT, when the sun went down, we knew it was time for the SCARY version. The mist was up, the masks went on, and we were ready to scare some people. So many people were terrified of us. Some of us didn’t even have to make a sound, the masks were frightening enough. Officer Sona Senapati, who had been selling tickets earlier, joined in the scaring. We all found creative ways to scare the people, and in the end, knew what it was like to be a “scarer” in Monsters Inc.
