Site Public Courtyard Restaurants + Retail Residential

Essential to the success of the courtyard is the surrounding cafes, retail, restaurants, and apartments.

It would serve as an overflow for restaurants and an oppurtunity for social gathering for the surrounding foot traffic.

Purpose By creating a variety of seating arrangements, the space becomes a more dynamic public experience.

A successful public space is one that allows for personalization of a shared space.

By putting a sitting ledge at the corner of the space, it would invite people walking by to stop and rest without “committing” to the space.

Offering a variety of pathways is just as important as offering a variety of seating. This structure doesn’t just allow people to walk between the structures, it allows people to walk over the structures via steps, each step offering a different vantage point.
