We are so proud of our chapters and families celebrating National Black Family in May. The plethora of smiling faces and carefully curated events and celebrations are highlighted in this June Issue of the Sweet Sweet Scoop. We are so honord to serve the SER. Enjoy!
The SER Program Directors kept the heartbeat of Jack and Jill strong with assistance from the SER Program Committee and program related committee chairmen.
On Saturday, March 25, 2023, the Jacksonville Chapter of Jack & Jill hosted the Florida Super Cluster in St. Augustine, FL, the nation's oldest city.
The Jacksonville Chapter is recognized as the Cycle 3 FIRST PLACE winner of the National Best of the Best Quarterly Programming Recognition. The event was filled with Jack and Jill of America, Inc. programmatic thrusts and focus areas: cultural, educational, health, civic/legislative, and social/recreational.
Congratulations to Chapter President Latasha Garrison, Program Director Marshana Rivers, the Super Cluster Steering Committee, and the entire Jacksonville Chapter!
On Sunday, March 26th, Greater Huntsville Chapter youth enrolled in GHC University! This chapter-wide activity went above and beyond because chapter mothers AND fathers facilitated this activity which supported the Jack and Jill of America, Inc. (JJOA) American Red Cross partnership, incorporated lessons from various JJOA curriculum and the We Are One National Task Force Resource Guide in order to stimulate our children’s growth and development into future leaders.
Additionally, as the second aim of JJOA is to “seek for all children the same advantages that we desire for our own,” the chapter donated 60 books (one book per chapter child) from current and previous SER book club lists to the Community Health Action Center’s book nook which serves children in an underserved predominately African-American community. This donation was publicized in Oakwood University’s alumni newsletter. At the completion of “GHC University,” each youth had earned 5 financial literacy and 12 leadership credits. Congratulations to Chapter President Dawn Stanley, Program Director Jamia Shepherd, the GHC Steering Committee, and the entire Greater Huntsville Chapter!
Sunday, April 16, 2023, the Southwest Florida chapter’s Fathers' Auxiliary assisted moms in hosting the “Defending Black Excellence: Killmonger VS Wakanda” Mock Trial. The Innovator and Trailblazer groups combined for an exciting day of exploration and leadership.
On Mission and On Purpose, this activity increased participants' understanding and interest in the legal system and law-related careers while providing tips for college success, workplace etiquette, and great public speaking opportunities. This event was publicized in the local media via the Community Press (a community-wide news publication) and through the chapter’s social media outlets.
Congratulations to Chapter President Autumn Holloway, Program Director Shangriah Roberts, the Mock Trial Steering Committee, and the entire Southwest Florida Chapter!

The Amazing Albany Chapter’s Black Family Day “Celebrating Families with Colors in Action” was EPIC!! Fun was had by all!
Committee Chair Mom Dr. Stephanie Dyer and the Black Family Day Committee created a program that brought family, movement, fun, recognition, great food, laughter, and chapter bonding altogether. From relay races to chair volleyball, the parents were just as engaged as the children.
The program ended with recognizing all of the children with special gifts and words of wisdom from our graduating senior. Our beautiful Associate Mothers also joined the fun.
This very well-attended event was a wonderful way to end the programming year!
With all of the end of year activities in May, families can find their lives getting hectic and stressful For Black Family Day, the Athens Area Chapter decided to take some time for fun self-care. Under the theme: "Our Minds Matter: Eat, Play, Love", the families gathered to eat some good food from local Dawg Gone Good BBQ, play old school games and take a mental health break with a yoga/meditation session with Sydney McCall. They also celebrated Co-Mothers of the Year - VP Mariel and CSC Lyquaia, recognized graduating seniors and honored award winners.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her Blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Treasure Coast Chapter members celebrated Black Family Day on Sunday, April 30th at Oak Hammock Park in Port Saint Lucie, FL. This year's theme: "We're outside: Finishing Strong our New Normal" described the day perfectly. Chapter members were outside engaging in old school games and competing in friendly competition with our children to encourage physical activity and family quality time. Chapter moms had fun competing with the teens in a friendly game of kick ball while the fathers watched and cheered the moms. There was a nature trail where the children went on a short hike to get their steps. All grade groups had fun getting wet with the water balloon fights. Let us not forget the fathers who taught the children how to fly kites. Overall, it was a day of family fun because the teens were not on their phones.
