The mental and physical health crisis in America affects children and adults alike Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was written at a time when mental health was not discussed or treated Many people during that time were described as "mad," hence the Mad Hatter and the phrase, " we ' re all mad here," quoted in the book While mental health is no laughing matter, this is a fun way to explore common emotions and bring awareness to our mental state The real-life outdoor downtown Brunswick, GA escape experience utilized STEM skills and sharpened problem-solving skills at each child's or teen's level while also having them walk to various locations

Teams were put together at each developmental grade level so that each team learned through play The entire chapter was invited to dress up as a character in Alice and Wonderland Brunswick, Georgia Escape experience The children meandered through downtown Brunswick using problem solving and tracking skills to solve each clue.

Future activities connected to this activity include an emotional intelligence activity for younger children

It’s

Giving Season! On December 3, 2022, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter, led by

Gibson, donated time to Light Up the Village to decorate the “Pink and Blue Candy” themed home at the SOS Children’s Village. Serving the community is truly a magical opportunity for the chapter to give back in a fun way. SOS is comprised of 13 homes where children and sibling groups are placed in foster care with the goal of keeping the children together. This year the Chapter chose to bring a little cheer by decorating one home with lights and decorations

The holidays can be a hard time for children who are separated from their families Some of them struggle with an overall sense of grief, loneliness, and self-blame. Having their neighborhood bright and lovingly decorated helps them enjoy the holidays despite their circumstances the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter was one of 12 other organizations that participated.

The Chapter also hosted a ‘Let it Glow’ illuminated themed family holiday event. The holiday season is a reminder of the many reasons to celebrate and gather with one another The festive event included food, fellowship, games, dancing, and holiday cheer

"Because We Can Do More," unwrapped toys and gift cards were collected as chapter participants gave with gratitude to deserving children and families in Fort Myers, FL who were directly impacted by Hurricane Ian. This gift-giving initiative is in support of the community of the newly chartered Southwest Florida Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

The Treasure Coast Chapter Humpty Dumpty, Masters of the Universe and Youth Express groups had the golden tickets to board the Polar Express Train Ride Treasure Coast Chapter families arrived, in matching family pajamas, at the Brightline Miami Central Train Station. The children started by coloring Polar Express coloring sheets and writing letters to Santa. After addressing and putting postage on their envelopes they placed their letters into a Santa themed mailbox Passengers then received their golden tickets to board the train Children experienced a real-life re-creation of the classic children’s story. Actors and performers engaged the children with caroling and performances. Hot chocolate and cookies were served by dancing and singing chefs The children enjoyed a reading of the classic book by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa then boarded the train greeting each child and presenting them with the first gift of Christmas; a silver bell They then enjoyed fun and caroling back to the station

The Tuscaloosa Chapter treated children from the community to a hearty meal and holiday crafts at its annual Breakfast with Santa event Moms served grits, eggs, and a variety of southern breakfast favorites while the Teens facilitated themed activities at several craft stations Of course, no holiday celebration would be complete without a visit from Santa There were smiles all around as the children posed for photos and shared their gift lists.

The Chapter further served the community by collecting coats at this event, which were then delivered to a local non-profit agency The coat drive was sponsored by the Teens and met a timely need in the community, as temperatures in Tuscaloosa soon dropped below freezing. Despite the cold weather, hearts were warm as families from the Chapter enjoyed time with their loved ones and joined the community in sharing and celebrating the gifts of the season In this season of gratitude, the Tuscaloosa Chapter also gives thanks for the life and legacy of service of Charter Member Louise Sullivan, who passed away this December Charter Mother Louise served as a Teen Sponsor, Chapter President, and Regional Officer Her dedication and service to the Tuscaloosa Chapter and to the Region are immeasurable.

The Tuscaloosa Chapter extends well wishes for a blessed holiday season and bountiful new year to all!
