IT’S HEATING UP! The Finalists : Ayman Awad (Austria), Mira Joo (Hungary) & Lorenzo Gianeri (Italy) BURN Residency 2016 has quite simply surpassed all expectations. Nine thousand applications from 26 countries, guest mentors including Luciano and Miguel Campbell, a judging panel featuring Carl Cox, Dubfire and John Digweed plus an incredible head-to-head which has seen the three finalists assume residencies at Sankeys, Café Mambo and Privilige! We check in with the three DJs now fighting it out for the life-changing, career-enhancing €100,000 top prize… Why did you enter BURN Residency? Lorenzo: In our world outside of Ibiza, opportunities like this do not exist. Sure, having commitment and sacrifice is important, but BURN Residency is a once in a lifetime chance to follow your dream. My music now has a real chance to be heard! Tell us about Bootcamp. Mira: I have loved learning from the legends. I won the UNER remix challenge, came second in the Carl Cox b2b comp and I discovered a lot about myself in the Dubfire mix session. I now have true belief. Your greatest strength as a DJ?

Ayman : “I am able to read the crowd well and always bring good vibes.” Describe your DJing style… Mira : “It doesn’t matter what genre I play. The bottom line is that I will make you move on the dancefloor and I will make you think about the musical journey you are on.” What do you do outside of DJing? Ayman : “I work with a lot of refugees from Arabic countries who come to Austria; I was born in Egypt so I understand their culture. I translate for them, help them to get settled and assist the Red Cross. Six months before Ibiza, I was responsible for 80 refugees across two camps. Do you think you can win? Lorenzo : I hope so, but I know it will not be easy. The other two are brilliant but I am really focused, I feel full of energy and so motivated to do my best and do this wonderful ‘job’ for the rest of my life…” What is your message to people thinking of entering BURN Residency 2017? Mira : Do it! Show the world what you can do!
