Introduction
Goa, the tiniest state on the western coast of India, boasts golden pristine beaches, palmfringed avenues, flavourful food, delicious Portuguese-influenced sweets, and warm, hospitable people. Also known as the Ibiza of India for its partying. A tropical paradise of flora and fauna, from the very famous 'almi' (mushrooms) endemic to its forests, that grow only on the red mud anthills, to the solar prawns that are fished immediately after the monsoons, Goa is unique. Tourists are also attracted to Goa for its cultural heritage - from the famous old Portuguese churches like Se Cathedral in Old Goa, the 16th Century Safa Masjid in Ponda and Shree Mangesha Temple in Mardol, the legendary Arvalem or Pandava Caves where the Pandavas of the Mahabharat fame lived, to its two unique festivalsCarnival and Shigmo. Goa plays host to many festivals - the International Film Festival of India that promotes cinema, the Serendipity Art Festival, Sunburn Music Festival, The Grape Escapade to name a few. To showcase this varied heritage of culture, art, tradition, food, and people, in 2015 ItsGoa was born. The main aim was to make it the premier portal for all things Goa. We were able to showcase Goa like never before. Soon our blog-based website transcended the virtual space, with the ItsGoa magazine – a sought-after resource for visitors to Goa from countries like Norway, Germany, UK, USA, UAE, etc.

Rhea D’souza, a Goa-based fashion blogger, blends comfort-driven style, community connection, and authenticity, inspiring followers through relatable fashion, mindful styling, and consistent creative evolution.
The Beginning of a Bold Journey
Rhea D’souza, a 23-year-old fashion blogger from Goa, began her journey in the digital style space quite unexpectedly. Two years ago, in February, she posted her first-ever fashion reel—styling a simple pair of cargo jeans in two unique ways, casual and dressy. With no borrowed clothes or studio setup, Rhea used items from her own wardrobe and her creativity.
To her surprise, the reel received encouraging feedback. Though she initially struggled with selfdoubt and the fear of judgment, the positive response shifted something inside her. It gave her clarity and confidence. That first video became the catalyst for what would evolve into her thriving fashion blogging career.

Inspiration from Her First Style Icon: Mom
Rhea credits her earliest fashion influence to her mother. Known for her impeccable taste and attention to detail, her mother always dressed Rhea with care—pairing outfits thoughtfully with the right accessories and shoes. That sense of elegance and effort left a lasting impression on her.
Encouragement from friends and her own passion for dressing up led Rhea to realise that fashion was more than just a hobby—it was a form of selfexpression. Creating content around fashion felt natural and authentic, allowing her to blend her personality with creativity.
A Balanced Fashion Philosophy
Rhea describes her fashion philosophy as one that blends comfort with confidence. She believes in staying true to one’s personal style rather than blindly following trends. Her content reflects this approach—she creates looks that are not just stylish but also wearable and real. Her audience resonates with her effortlessly chic yet grounded style choices.

rhea for a shoot

Inspiration for Rhea often strikes unexpectedly. While platforms like Pinterest and Instagram serve as helpful tools, she also draws from everyday moments—a passerby on the street, a colour scheme in a café, or even her mood on a particular day.
She strongly believes that great style doesn’t come from constantly buying new pieces but rather from creatively styling what one already owns. Her content regularly echoes this sentiment, encouraging followers to explore their own wardrobes more mindfully.
Creating a Community Through Connection
Building a loyal and engaging community has been central to Rhea’s blogging journey. On Instagram, she interacts with followers through her broadcast channel, story polls, and regular feedback sessions. She goes the extra mile by responding to comments, DMs, and style queries—sometimes even helping her audience choose outfits for special occasions. For Rhea, being approachable and genuinely interested in her audience has built trust and a strong sense of community.
Brand Collaborations That Shaped Her Growth
One of Rhea’s most memorable collaborations was with The Souled Store. As her first brand partnership, it also introduced her to affiliate marketing. Watching people use her discount code and make purchases was an empowering moment— proof that her influence held tangible value.
Since then, she has worked with notable brands such as Myntra, Newme Asia, Savana, Tira Beauty, and Nykaa. These collaborations, especially the paid partnerships, have been affirmations of her creative voice and personal brand.
Overcoming Challenges in the Industry
Rhea’s journey hasn’t been without its struggles. At times, the pressure to compare herself with other creators made her question her progress. The road to her first 10,000 followers was slow and frustrating, with moments of doubt and creative burnout.
However, her perseverance and passion kept her going. She chose to stay consistent, reminded herself why she began, and found strength in small wins. Today, those challenging moments have shaped her into a more grounded and resilient creator.
Navigating Trends With Authenticity
To stay updated, Rhea follows global fashion platforms and observes what’s trending both locally and online. But she doesn’t chase every trend. Instead, she asks herself whether a trend aligns with her style and audience. If it does, she puts her own twist on it; if not, she confidently skips it.
She believes trends should amplify personal style— not define it. That thoughtful curation is what gives her content its unique flair.
The Evolution of Personal Style
Over time, Rhea’s style has evolved from safe, trenddriven choices to more bold and expressive outfits. As she grew more confident, she started

She emphasises that style isn’t about luxury—it’s about self-awareness and con dence
he Power of Social Media
Instagram remains Rhea’s core platform and the heart of her content creation. It’s where she started, and where she built her most engaged community. Recently, she has started exploring YouTube Shorts, which offers a new way to connect with audiences through quick, impactful videos.

Despite venturing into new platforms, Instagram continues to be the most effective and personal space for her brand.
Travel as a Fashion Muse
Travel has played a transformative role in Rhea’s fashion sensibility. Each destination adds something new—whether it’s street style inspiration from urban cities, laid-back looks from beach towns, or fresh fabric textures from local markets
Her travel-based content introduces dynamic looks and narratives that enrich her blog and social media feed, keeping things visually engaging and culturally diverse
Looking Ahead: Future Projects and Dreams
Rhea has clear ambitions for the future. She aims to work with more international brands that share her vision and possibly launch her own fashion line that mirrors her style ethos
She’s also interested in experimenting with longform content on YouTube to explore storytelling on a deeper level. For Rhea, the goal is to continue evolving as a creator while staying rooted in authenticity and creativity.
A Glimpse Into Her Day
A typical day in Rhea’s life is structured yet fluid. She balances fashion blogging with her job at a social media company. Mornings are reserved for completing work-related tasks, followed by lming content for collaborations or personal projects. Some days involve modelling assignments or brand shoots. Others are slower, offering time to rest and recharge. She believes that off-days are part of the creative rhythm and treats them as essential for maintaining balance
Rhea D’souza is not just a fashion blogger—she’s a storyteller, a community-builder, and a creative force determined to leave her mark on the fashion world. Through every reel, post, and partnership, she stays true to her roots while continuously evolving—one out t at a time.
Model & Dancer

At 18, Goan artist Bhumi Deshprabhu uses dance, modelling, and photography to express truth, challenge norms, and empower youth through authenticity, emotion, and creative storytelling.
Article by: Team ItsGoa Images by: Bhumi Deshprabhu
www.itsgoa.com itsgoa_ Itsgoa

At just 18 years old, Bhumi Deshprabhu is already a force to be reckoned with. Hailing from Goa, this passionate artist has been captivating audiences through her performances, her camera lens, and her unwavering authenticity. Whether on stage, behind a lens, or walking a ramp, Bhumi sees art not just as a medium of expression—but as a mission to spark change.
The Early Beat of Passion
Bhumi's journey began early, dancing in local shows where movement quickly became her language. As a child, she discovered that art was more than performance—it was her escape and her voice. Over time, that passion evolved into a multilayered pursuit of storytelling through dance, modelling, photography, and content creation.
Her talent didn’t go unnoticed. After claiming wins at the state level, Bhumi’s dedication opened doors to national and international platforms. It wasn’t just skill that brought her forward, but a mix of persistence, timing, and deep emotional connection with her craft.
A Dancer at Heart
Bhumi is learning and growing in contemporary and hip-hop dance—styles she connects with on an emotional level. For her, dance becomes a form of communication when words fall short. She values versatility and embraces imperfection, recognising that growth comes from the journey, not just the spotlight.
One of her most powerful moments came while performing internationally—an overwhelming experience that left her deeply moved and reaffirmed her purpose. Preparing for a performance, she enters a near-meditative state, isolating herself to stretch, visualise, and breathe, treating the leadup as a spiritual experience as much as a physical one.
Beauty with Purpose
Bhumi’s entry into the world of pageants and modelling wasn’t driven by glamour but by a need to be heard. Inspired by the multifaceted journey of Priyanka Chopra, she saw pageants as a platform to challenge stereotypes and inspire change.

Her efforts were rewarded with significant titles— Miss Goa Runner-Up 2023 and India Iconic Diva 2nd Runner-Up 2024. Being the youngest among the winners was not just a personal triumph, but a message to youth everywhere: speak up, be bold, and stand for yourself.
Among her most cherished moments was portraying Kashibai during her debut pageant. Embodying strength and grace in that role gave her a sense of pride and emotional connection that remains etched in her memory.
Behind the Lens
As her love for dance expanded, so did her fascination with visual storytelling. Directing dance videos sparked an interest in photography—leading her to explore themes of motion, emotion, and raw human expression. She primarily focuses on fashion and dance, capturing stories that speak through visuals alone.
Her dual experience in front of and behind the camera allows her to bring a unique perspective— guiding, emoting, and shaping creative narratives with depth and precision.

Balancing Art and Academics
Currently pursuing Mass Communication and Journalism, Bhumi sees education as an extension of her creative tools. It sharpens her perspective, allowing her to express and communicate with clarity and intention. Despite juggling academics with multiple creative avenues, she credits her discipline to passion, prioritisation, and grounding habits like listening to music and dancing in solitude.
Her family, especially her parents and best friend, remain her unwavering support system. She attributes much of her success to their belief in her, especially during setbacks.
A Voice for the Next Generation
Bhumi envisions building a creative platform, especially in Goa, where young talents can thrive without fear of judgment. Through mentoring and sharing her journey on social media, she aims to inspire emerging artists to embrace authenticity and break free from societal moulds.
Her message is clear: art is both rebellion and healing. Through it, one can find truth, empowerment, and voice.
Looking Ahead
In five years, Bhumi hopes to be at the helm of a creative company, performing across the globe, and telling stories that resonate. Whether through dance, visuals, or voice, her legacy will reflect a commitment to truth, emotion, and fearless individuality.
Her proudest moment so far? Winning her first dance title and watching her parents' faces beam with pride. And if she could tell her younger self one thing, it would be: “Stop asking for validation—life will give it to you when you’re ready. Be patient. Be real.”
In a world constantly chasing perfection, Bhumi Deshprabhu chooses to celebrate flaws, feel deeply, and rise through every fall. And in doing so, she invites others to do the same.

Deshprabhu won gold for Goa at Nationals in J&K and represented India in Nepal

content creator
Pratik Joshi
Pratik Joshi, a mechanical engineer turned content creator, blends education and Goan culture, inspiring audiences through purposeful storytelling, disciplined content creation, and authentic community engagement.
In the heart of North Goa’s bustling Mapusa town resides Pratik Joshi — a mechanical engineer turned storyteller whose unique journey into the world of content creation has quietly inspired thousands. With a natural knack for simplifying complex topics and an ever-deepening love for Goa’s cultural heritage, Pratik has carved a niche for himself in two seemingly contrasting but beautifully complementary spaces: education and culture.
A Lockdown Spark
Pratik’s content creation story didn’t begin with the usual influencer aspirations or a planned digital strategy. It began during the COVID-19 lockdown, when he was preparing for the GMAT exam. A friend’s request for help with the exam registration prompted Pratik to record a quick tutorial video on his phone. Realising that the video could benefit more than just one person, he uploaded it to YouTube. That single, spontaneous decision laid the foundation for what would become a thriving content journey.

Pratik captures the spirit of the Potekar festival in Divar
Creating with Purpose
Pratik’s content is guided by a simple yet powerful principle: to make life easier or more enriching for his audience. His work spans two major domains.

In the educational space, Pratik focuses on guiding students through management-related pathways, particularly those navigating exams like the GMAT. He breaks down application processes, shares insights from top B-schools, and offers clarity to those at crucial career crossroads.
Simultaneously, he’s become a voice for Goan culture — exploring the state beyond its beaches, spotlighting untold stories, forgotten practices, and cherished traditions. Through personal narratives and cultural deep dives, Pratik connects viewers with Goa’s vibrant soul.
Influences and Inspiration
While his work reflects polish and depth, the roots of Pratik’s inspiration are humble and heartfelt. His mother remains his biggest influence, encouraging him to have the courage to share his stories with the world. He also admires creators like MrBeast and Bhuvan Bam for their originality, risk-taking, and consistency — values that have become cornerstones of his own journey.

Strategy Meets Storytelling
Despite having a full-time job, Pratik maintains a disciplined content schedule — publishing new videos every Monday and Thursday at 6 PM. One video typically caters to educational needs, while the other dives into Goan heritage. His content is shaped by YouTube search trends and direct feedback from his viewers, ensuring relevance and audience resonance.
His creative process is methodical: topic research using SEO tools and AI like ChatGPT, scripting with clear takeaways, filming on his phone, and collaborating with a two-person editing team. He also relies on tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and Canva, proving that impactful content doesn’t require extravagant setups — just strong ideas and careful execution.
Building Community Through Conversation
What sets Pratik apart is his commitment to audience engagement. He makes it a point to respond to every comment on his YouTube channel, maintaining a 100% reply rate. This attentiveness has built a loyal community and created memorable interactions — like helping a stressed student through a GMAT application issue, reinforcing the trust his viewers place in him.
Keeping It Fresh
Pratik stays relevant by listening — truly listening — to his audience. Viewer suggestions, trending searches, and cultural cues shape his content calendar. Rather than chase viral moments, he stays focused on adding value, whether through insightful advice or emotionally grounded storytelling.

Challenges Behind the Scenes
Like many creators, Pratik faces challenges — time management being the biggest. Balancing a demanding job and a content schedule requires discipline, early planning, and unwavering passion. Logistics during on-field shoots in Goa also present hurdles, especially when organising camera support. Yet, he tackles each obstacle with humour and grit, staying focused on the bigger picture.
Growth Through Collaboration
A turning point in his journey has been his collaboration with Soul Traveling, a company that
opened new creative avenues and deepened his connection with Goa. His recent podcast series “What the Feni” stands out as a highlight — a project that blended cultural storytelling, audio-visual experimentation, and digital innovation through AI
Advice to Aspiring Creators
For those just starting out, Pratik’s message is clear: passion and persistence are non-negotiable. Content creation is not about instant fame or quick success. It’s about authentic storytelling, resilience through setbacks, and an unwavering commitment to value. He emphasises that those who stay true to their vision, rather than chasing external validation, are the ones who build lasting impact.
The Road Ahead
Pratik Joshi’s journey proves that content creation is not limited by your background — it’s powered by purpose. From recording GMAT videos in his bedroom to capturing the essence of Goan identity, he’s redefined what it means to be a creator in today’s digital age. With every video, he continues to bridge worlds — of tradition and ambition, of simplicity and substance — and inspire a generation that values both knowledge and roots.
In a world often dominated by noise, Pratik Joshi stands as a calm, consistent, and deeply impactful

Capturing the vibrant Carnival in Episode 7 of ‘Tales of

Carisio Azavedo
Goan rapper Bongisio blends Konkani, hiphop, and cultural pride to uplift communities, redefine local music, and lead the Goan by Blood movement with faith, originality, and social purpose.
From the lush green fields of Merces in Goa emerges a powerful voice blending culture, conviction, and rhythm—meet Carisio Azavedo, widely known by his stage name Bongisio. A musician, educator, performer, social worker, and founder of the artistic movement Goan by Blood, Bongisio is redefining the landscape of Konkani music by merging the spirit of hip-hop with the heritage of his homeland.
A Musical Soul Rooted in Culture
Bongisio’s musical journey began in a home steeped in melody. Surrounded by a family of musicians, he first picked up the guitar, later mastered the drums, and spent over a decade performing with bands such as Blue Waves, Cream Vibes, and Street Kingz. From the spotlight of Goa’s commercial music scene to the soulful stages of Mando festivals—where he claimed numerous accolades—his evolution has been both deep and deliberate.

However, it wasn’t until 2021 that his voice found its true calling in Konkani rap. His greatest inspiration for writing spiritual lyrics is his mother, who has always encouraged him to stay grounded, remain humble, and walk every step of his journey with faith in God. For him, music isn't just sound—it's a higher connection. In his words, his music is simply: "Melodies from heaven."

Bongisio's biggest musical influences begin with his father, followed by global icons like Michael Jackson and the American rapper Russ. He also draws inspiration from the Nightingale of Goa, Lorna. Over the years, he’s been deeply influenced by many fellow artists in the industry—the list continues to grow as he learns from each one.
From Covers to Creator
Despite early success performing covers, the realisation that he was building on others' art sparked a turning point. He yearned to leave his own mark, to contribute something authentic to Goan music. This introspection gave birth to his first rap performance in his village—a local stage that ignited a global dream. That moment anchored his identity not just as a musician, but as a cultural pioneer.
His process is a carefully crafted dance of spontaneity and structure. A freestyle rapper at heart, he often builds tracks starting with beats, later layering lyrics shaped by spirituality and social relevance. With a blend of Konkani lyrics, Goan instrumentation, and hip-hop beats, Bongisio’s sound is a unique fusion of Western rhythm and Indian soul.

Goan by Blood – More Than a Name
In 2021, Bongisio co-founded Goan by Blood, a movement born out of the desire to support independent artists. What began with four rappers has grown into a thriving community of musicians, creatives, and influencers united by passion, purpose, and cultural pride.
Goan by Blood champions authentic, hardworking talent—not just from Goa, but from anywhere in the world where the heart beats with the ethos of Goan generosity and unity. Through street performances, stage shows, and collaborative events, music remains the pulse of the initiative. It is not just an art form, but a tool for outreach, upliftment, and representation.
Powerful Performances and Personal Tributes Among his many performances, one that stands out is his emotionally charged appearance at Samba Square, where he performed alongside his father and brother shortly after losing his mother to a heart attack. The concert was a tribute to her—a moment that was both painful and powerful, reflecting the strength of family and music as healing forces.
Live performances are where Bongisio truly comes alive. Fluent in crowd interaction, especially in Konkani, he crafts an atmosphere where energy flows freely between the artist and the audience. Still, he holds equal reverence for studio time, recognising that every great stage moment begins in quiet creative spaces.
Faith, Challenges, and a Voice for Change
As an independent artist, Bongisio’s biggest hurdle has been the acceptance of rap as a legitimate art form in his community. With rap often misunderstood or stereotyped, his mission has been to redefine the genre, especially in his native tongue. Language, cultural perception, and limited platforms for original content have tested his resilience—but never dimmed his drive.
Through it all, his Goan identity remains the foundation of his work. Traditional Goan instruments like saxophones and trumpets are weaved into his productions, and his lyrics often reflect Goa’s landscapes, language, and values. His music has taught him the value of staying true to oneself in an industry that often rewards imitation over innovation.

Beyond the Music
What fans may not know is that behind the persona of Bongisio stands a multifaceted professional. He holds a degree in social work, has taught mass media at college level, and is a music teacher, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur. His company provides sound systems and technical setups for events, showing that his commitment to music extends beyond performance.
When he isn’t creating, he finds peace in the simplicity of village life—spending time with pets, neighbours, and the serene fields of Merces. His faith plays a critical role in keeping him centred, with daily prayers and a deep connection to Jesus guiding his journey.
Words to the Future
To aspiring artists, Bongisio offers sincere advice: “Don’t give up. Stay consistent. Your moment will come. Just like you’re reading about me today, someone will be reading about you tomorrow.” He believes in the power of originality and the importance of embedding one's roots into their sound. "Goa has something no one else does—don’t be afraid to show it."

His latest milestone—releasing the first-ever Konkani Hip-Hop Gospel album—marks a groundbreaking step in both regional and spiritual music. His vision is to organise Gospel rap concerts for youth, proving that rap can be a positive, uplifting force grounded in faith.
As for Goan by Blood, the movement continues to grow. With initiatives like food drives, artist mentoring, and music showcases, Bongisio envisions a future where the community earns international recognition for its contributions to music and social empowerment.
A Message from the Heart
For Bongisio, music is life itself. “Without music, I’m as good as dead,” he says. His message to fans is simple yet profound: “Tumcho Goekar Bhav Bongisio will always stand by you—representing your emotion, your culture, and our land, till my last breath.” You can explore his journey and discography by simply searching “Bongisio” online—his music is available across platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music.
In a world chasing trends, Bongisio is staying true— crafting legacy over likes, culture over convenience, and community over competition. Goa’s rhythms have a new voice, and it beats strongly through Bongisio.

She moved from Ireland to the Netherlands in May 2022 and settled down in Limburg, a region located in the southern part of the Netherlands. Debbie couldn't pursue her internship in the Netherlands as the place of work was far away from the place she was residing in. So, she decided to give up the internship and continue with her main job in the Netherlands. While on a holiday in Goa last year, Debbie came across a post regarding a job opportunity in The Netherlands. She got in touch with a representative of the company who was based in Goa and gave an interview for the job. But when she met the CEO of the company in Goa, that's when everything changed for her.

The CEO of the company offered her a new role in the Netherlands. Debbie was assigned the responsibility to connect with Goans aspiring to migrate to the Netherlands and to help Goans arriving in the Netherlands to integrate into the country. She currently works as an onboarding coordinator, specifically for Goans. The company has a group on Facebook where Debbie gets to connect with members of the Goan community and assist them in settling in the Netherlands.
Debbie’s Art & More
Debbie Fernandes, a Goan artist, is charting a creative course across Europe, leaving her artistic imprint in various cultural landscapes. Her journey recently took her to Manchester, where she proudly represented Goan artistry at a local association event. There, she curated an art stall that not only displayed her diverse range of works but also highlighted a piece she holds especially dear. Debbie's art, characterised by its vibrant expression and connection to her Goan roots, continues to captivate and engage audiences in Europe, reflecting her dedication to her craft and her heritage. As she travels, Debbie's art becomes a bridge between communities, showcasing the richness of Goan art to an international audience.
Life In The Netherlands
Debbie says that she likes The Netherlands as it is a very eco-friendly country. There is a strong bicycle culture in The Netherlands, and it is also a land of some of the most beautiful flowers in the world. She also adds that one can live and work in the Netherlands without being proficient in Dutch since English is widely spoken in the country.
To those Goans planning to migrate to the Netherlands, Debbie says that the country is a very nice place to live and work. “If you live peacefully with the Dutch people and respect their culture, Goans can enjoy a nice and balanced life in the Netherlands”, she says.
Future Plans
Looking to the future, Debbie wants to continue with her passion for creating art that impacts a lot of people's lives. She plans to explore new styles of art, collaborate with other artists and constantly evolve her creativity.

Debbie’s Arwork of herself in her happy place

Activist Shohail Furtado urges Goan youth to resist environmental exploitation, engage in local governance, and defend Goa’s heritage against unchecked development and corrupt grassroots-level decisions.

Itsgoa
~ Youth activist Shohail Furtado highlights the need for youth activism in social matters that endanger Goa’s culture, beauty and natural environment.
~ Approximately 90 square kilometres of green cover have been converted to concrete structures in the past decade, signifying rapid conversion of valuable land.
Goan youth need to be vigilant and serve as a bulwark against the abuse of land resources in the state and keep track of dubious projects being pushed through village panchayats as well, according to Shohail Furtado, a young social activist, who was speaking recently at the Museum of Goa as part of the latter’s MOG Sundays series.
Varca-based Furtado’s talk session, ‘Uttai Re Goemkarano’, was a call to action urging Goan youth to challenge the unchecked spread of megaprojects in Goa that threaten the state’s villages and environment. “If you start following the paper trail, you unfold a series of internal settings. It’s a castle of cards, and it can come tumbling down.
But who is going to do it? The youth need to engage in their gram sabhas and panchayats,” said Shohail Furtado. “Corruption is present even in the grassroots of an administration,” he added.
Using data, visuals and direct action like beach clean-ups, surveys, and petitions, Furtado also spoke about his experiences with youth and locals resisting on-ground injustices, citing the course of his wellknown campaign highlighting the pollution of the Varca creek, in south Goa.
Questioning permissions from grassroots bodies like village panchayats for large-scale multi-dwelling projects in the guise of “development,” Furtado said: “We’re told we need more tourism, more housing, more growth. But who is it really for, and who pays the price?”
Shohail said that the youth in Goa may have been incorrectly conditioned into thinking their voice lacks power and that they should instead focus on careers
and personal development. “Why do political parties have youth wings? They know that the minute the youth mobilise is the day they cannot do anything, because the power lies in the hands of the youth,” he emphasised.
Furtado said it was time for the youth to take the lead to preserve Goa’s identity and ecological balance, but noted a lack of awareness among his contemporaries. “I noticed a gap—our youth were aware, but not deeply enough. They weren’t fully engaged with what is being destroyed in our state,” Furtado said.
“My parents’ generation is still holding fort and fighting. But they’re not doing it for themselves; they’re doing it for us. Because we are the ones who will inherit a ruined Goa, not them.”
The session, and the interactive discussion that followed Furtado’s talk, explored the possibility of networking among like-minded non-governmental organisations working in tune with each other for the betterment of the state, and included a call for young people to become more proactive in their local governing bodies.
