Actualmente está establecido como Deporte Olímpico, con 20 años ya desde su primera presentación oficial olímpica en la edición de Sídney 2000. A raíz de esto cómo deporte el Taekwon-Do WT se hizo más fuerte.
Pero, la razón por la cual el Taekwon-Do ha crecido y se ha establecido en Corea, es porque el General Choi Hong Hi quién fue General Mayor del ejército coreano, fundó el Taekwon-Do el 11 de Abril de 1955 y el 22 de marzo de 1966 fundó la Federación Internacional de Taekwon-Do ITF.
Hay 2 deportes que se denominan Taekwon-Do, el WT y el ITF. Corea del Sur lideró el WT y Corea del Norte a partir de 1980 año en el cual el general Choi llevo la ITF a ese país tomó cierto protagonismo en las negociaciones del Taekwon-Do con Corea del Sur. Pero todo el mundo sabe que Corea del Norte no puede hablar en representación de ITF.
Hay muchas diferencias entre ambos deportes y han crecido a lo largo de los años, ya que recorrieron caminos diferentes.
Hay grandes diferencias entre el Taekwon-Do WT y el ITF. Solo cómo ejemplos podemos decir que las patadas de WT son más lineales y que las de ITF son relativamente más curvadas y que los movimientos se realizan en forma de onda.

It is currently established as an Olympic Sport and it is 20 years since its first official presentation as a sport in the Sydney 2000 edition. As a result of this as a sport, Taekwon-Do WT became stronger.
But, the reason why Taekwon-Do has grown and established in Korea is because General Choi Hong Hi, who was a Major General of the Korean Army, founded Taekwon-Do on April 11, 1955 and on April 22. March 1966 founded the ITF International Taekwon-Do Federation.
There are 2 sports called Taekwon-Do, the WT and the ITF. South Korea led the WT and North Korea from 1980 on, the year in which General Choi brought the ITF to that country, took a certain role in the Taekwon-Do negotiations with South Korea. But everyone knows that North Korea cannot speak on behalf of the ITF.
There are many differences between the two sports and they have grown over the years as they traveled different paths. There are big differences between Taekwon-Do WT and ITF. Just as examples we can say that WT kicks are more linear and ITF kicks are relatively more curved and movements are performed in wave form.

Los vínculos entre Juan Antonio Samaranch y Kim Young Un. Fueron la razón fundamental por la cual Corea adopta el Taekwon-Do WT como su bandera nacional para poder competir en los Juegos Olímpicos. Mientras que Corea del Norte debe aceptar que no se puede participar sin el certificado Kukkiwon. La WT (Corea del Sur) y la ITF (Corea del Norte) se reunieron por primera vez en 1982, desde ese entonces hasta ahora se habían sostenido las reuniones. Pero, a partir del año pasado a raíz de los conflictos políticos entre ambos países en la península de Corea se suspendieron todas las reuniones.
Mientras esto sucede el mundo ITF no acepta a Corea del Norte cómo su interlocutor con Corea del Sur debido a que de las tres organizaciones ITF a nivel mundial la de Corea del Norte es la que cuenta con menos representación internacional.

While this is happening, the ITF world does not accept North Korea as its interlocutor with South Korea because of the three ITF organizations worldwide, North Korea is the one with the least international representation.
