As we reflect on recent achievements and look forward to upcoming endeavors, I urge you to continue participating in our diverse array of activities and events. From Club Updates to Featured Activities and Events, Sports and Recreation Highlights, to Social Responsibility Initiatives, there is something for everyone to enjoy and contribute to.
In the pages of our latest newsletter, you will find a recap of recent events and developments, including: the induction of new members, the excitement of the President’s Cup Singles’ Tournament, and the joyous celebrations such ad the Employees’ Christmas Party & Parol Contest, Members and Management Team Thanksgiving, Economic Forum, our festive Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day gathering with Car Raffle. Finally, get to meet our Club architect, Architect Minerva Villarosa, who designed our newly renovated Zobel Dining and Sports Hub.
Furthermore, I am thrilled to announce several significant enhancements and renovation projects currently underway. From the construction of concrete access ramps to San Antonio and Club Café function rooms, to the acquisition of state-of-the-art bowling alley oiling machine and the reconditioning of bowling pin setting machines, we are dedicated to elevating your experience at our club. Anticipate further improvements with the upcoming upgrades to the club facilities in the near future.
Looking ahead, mark your calendars for our forthcoming annual stockholders’ meeting and the election of new directors and officers on April 15, 2024. Your participation in this important event will help shape the future direction of our club.
Additionally, I am excited to announce that Makati Sports Club Inc. will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year on June 12, 2025. This milestone is a testament to the enduring legacy and rich history of our club, and we look forward to commemorating this special occasion with all of you.

A successful President’s Cup Tennis Tournament Awarding Ceremony was held on November 26, 2023 at the Sports Pavilion organized by the Sports Committee and its Chairman Mr. Jun Lopez. Mr. Lito Melendres, MSCI President, Mr. Jun Lopez, Sports Committee Chairman, and some members of the committee attended and presented the awards to the winners.
The Employees’ Christmas Party held last December 23, 2023 at the Ayala Banquet Hall was an event to remember as MSCI employees danced and frolicked to the beat of Philippine music. Much to everybody’s pleasure, several raffle prizes and cash rewards were given to the lucky employees. Loyalty award and Sports Fest winners were also announced and given recognition on that day.
Parols or lanterns symbolize the Star of Bethlehem and is usually hung outside or from the windows.
In the spirit of yuletide season and as a way to develop the employees’ creativity, the management launched the Parol Making Contest which had two categories –employees category and ballboys/trainers/concessionaires category.
Employees submitted entries and were displayed in the veranda which were lauded by members and guests for their ingenuity and originality.
Winners received cash prizes and all participants got consolation prizes for their efforts and resourcefulness.
As a way to express gratitude to all the members, the club held the Thanksgiving Cocktails on January 15, 2024. Members and their spouses got together for a night of reunion and thanksgiving at the Ayala Banquet Hall. A live entertainment enthralled the members and their guests and mouthwatering dishes were served to the delight of the attendees.
The club’s Socials and Planning Committees in coordination with the management organized and held its first ever Economic Forum on January 29, 2024 at the Zobel Dining Room. Mr. Eduardo Francisco, President of BDO Capital and Investment Corporation, former President of the club and currently the House Committee Chairman facilitated the said talk and discussed and presented extensively salient topics on business, assets, finance, and investments.
Chinese New Year (February 9, 2024)
As a treat in welcoming the Year of the Wood Dragon, the club held its Chinese New Year Celebration on February 9, 2024 at the Zobel Dining Room with members and guests enjoying the scrumptious lunch buffet.
After a fruitful raffle draw last June, the club once again held a car explosion raffle draw last February 14, 2024 at the Ayala Banquet Hall. One lucky participant won the grand prize of Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 V and ten attendees received Php 50,000 each as minor prizes.
The said event which coincided with Valentine’s Day was such a momentous occasion as Cookie Chua and her band also charmed the audience with their amazing performance.

Mother Teresa once said that, “Helping others are better than praying lips.” And, indeed, it is true. As part of the club’s corporate social responsibility, the Makati Sports Club had the opportunity to help and gave the proceeds from the Valentine’s Event/Raffle Draw to chosen beneficiaries: Salesian Society of St. John Bosco Healthcare Program and CRIBS Foundation.
Fr. Gerry Martin, Provincial Superior of Salesian Society of St. John Bosco and Fr. Joji Inocentes visited the club on February 23, 2024 and personally received the check from Mr. Lito Melendres, Club President, Mr. Charlie Casas, Socials Committee Chairman, and Mr. Ron Limbo, the club’s General Manager.
Fr. Gerry Martin expressed gratitude to the club as the donation will definitely aid in providing quality healthcare access and improve the lives of clergymen.
