EDITORS’ NOTE In just a few short weeks our seasonal residents will begin to migrate north once again, and the slower days of summer will be upon us. This seems like the perfect time to step back and take a closer look at the Tower in an effort to ensure that we are continuing to meet the needs of our residents in the best way possible. HURRICANE SEASON IS APPROACHING. WILL YOU BE READY? By Lisa Bellanca
The Atlantic Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, with season peaks from August to October. Now is the time to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Hurricanes are not just coastal problems; they bring wind and heavy rainfall to all areas of the state. The conditions presented by hurricanes can also trigger tornadoes and storm surges.
In January, the Tower included an “ALL HAZARDS GUIDE” prepared by Lee County. Please refer to this pamphlet to become educated on before, during and after storm facts. If you do not have the guide you can go to www.leegov.com/Hurricane to read or download it. Below is a Hurricane Supply list that you can use to start your preparations.
