WELCOME TO TARA WOODS, Barbara Krilivsky and Linda Kasdorf, co-chairs of the Welcome Committee.

I found this piece on Facebook. Unfortunately, I do not know the author. I found it uplifting, although a bit philosophical. I share this, as there are many more days behind me than in front of me, and as the saying goes, “life is too short to worry about the small stuff”. I hope you all can take a bit from this message and fill your life with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, kindness, gentleness, and love for others.

” You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.” Why did you spill the coffee?

“Because someone bumped into me”. Wrong Answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.

The FMO (Federation of Manufactured Homeowners of Florida) advocates for the rights and interests of manufactured homeowners on leased land statewide – that is us.

Together, as members, we work to promote fair policies and laws to protect our unique lifestyle.

Right here in Tara Woods, as an individual, you have one voice to affect laws or policies that affect us. Together here in Tara Woods, as FMO members, we can have literally over a thousand voices affecting laws and policies. Statewide we as manufactured homeowners have literally thousands and thousands of voices to protect our unique lifestyle.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which will happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It’s easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

*So, we must ask ourselves… “what’s in my cup?”*

When life gets tough, when issues happen, what spills over?

Joy, gratefulness, peace, humility? Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? Life provides the cup; YOU choose how to fill it.

Today, let’s work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, kindness, gentleness, and love for others.

Just think how much better we will feel in the long run.

FMO FOR YOU FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT

The more VOICES we have, the stronger we become! Members are the key to power –PEOPLE POWER!!

We recognize and thank Tara Woods resident Sherry Kay who stepped up to be our Park Representative.

Sherry is busy recruiting new FMO members, reminding current members to renew, and contacting members whose membership has lapsed. Thank you, Sherry, as our membership in FMO continues to increase.

Your responses, phone calls, or emails to our legislators advocating HB 701 and SB 1714, during the session, were great! Thank you! After the bills had passed many different committees, Senator Passidomo failed to put it on the agenda to be considered on the final leg of its journey. The FMO will be attempting, prior to the next sessions of the legislators, to push this through. I know you all will be there with us next time. Remember, together we have members who make PEOPLE POWER.

REMINDER – Membership dues will be increasing mid-July. NOW is the time to join! See Sherry, or call 239-745-5258. Lou Dunning , President FMO District 7 Lee County 239-240-5847, loudunning2@gmail.com

How should you respond to tariffs?

The Trump Administration has announced tariffs on trade with other countries. While there has been a lot of uncertainty as to how these policies will evolve, it’s generally agreed that tariffs can be inflationary, and they have also sparked volatility in the financial markets. How should you respond to tariffs — as a consumer and an investor?

As a consumer…

• Review your budget. If you’re worried that higher prices will put stress on your cash flow, look for ways to cut costs, perhaps by eating out less often or eliminating streaming services you no longer use. Look for items that could easily be swapped for cheaper alternatives, like generics for brand names. You may even be able to get a better deal from your cable or internet providers, just by asking.

• Build or replenish an emergency fund. It’s typically a good idea to have an emergency fund containing three to six months’ worth of living expenses in a liquid, low-risk account. Usually, you’d want this fund available to meet large, unexpected expenses, such as a medical bill or a new furnace. But with the possibility of tariffs causing inflation in some sectors, you might also want your emergency fund ready to handle price increases in items such as car parts.

• Accelerate large purchases susceptible to tariffs. If you’re already planning on making a large purchase, and you think the price may be affected by tariffs, you might want to act now, if you can afford to do so. Some items that may be susceptible to tariffs include automobiles, smartphones and computers.

As an investor…

• Diversify. Tariffs may affect some industries, such as automobiles and consumer electronics, more than others, such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals. But rather than making hasty “buy” and “sell” decisions based on tariffs and their possible effects, try to build and maintain a diversified portfolio containing a mix of stocks, bonds and other securities. Diversification is the best defense against the market volatility caused by tariffs — or, for that matter, caused by any other factor. While diversification cannot guarantee a profit or protect against a loss, but at any given time, some asset classes may be up, or not hit as hard as others. And if your portfolio is heavily invested in an asset going through a downturn, you’ll likely take a much bigger hit than if your dollars were spread across the wide array of available investment types.

• Keep following a long-term strategy. Right now, tariffs are certainly in the headlines as a potentially disruptive force in the financial markets. But there have always been such forces — wars, natural disasters, political turmoil, and so on — and while they have caused volatility for a while, the markets regained its footing, sooner or later. And the most successful investors were the ones who stayed the course throughout the disruptive events, rather than jumping out of the market until things cooled down. This doesn’t mean you should never make changes in response to market conditions — at times, you may need to adjust your portfolio somewhat. But by following a long-term strategy based on your risk tolerance, time horizon and financial goals, you’ll be better equipped to cope with market gyrations.

Tariffs can lead to uncertainties in the financial world. But by thinking carefully about how you might respond, you can bring more clarity to your own situation.

Randy and Diane Smith came to Michigan to visit family and friends and met for lunch with Rich and Paula Dykstra. It was good to catch up on all the Tara Woods news.

ENTERTAINING NEWS

Howdy! I’m coming from you live from the northern borders of Canada! But instead of saying “eh” and “aboot”, I’m saying “Hey Y’all and Yeehaw”! That’s because I am busy learning my lines for the Entertainers new play. It’s called Rex’s Exes by Jones Hope Wooten and takes place in a little town called Sweetgum, Texas! I’ve been having a great time figuring out who my character really is, and for all you actors who have a role for next year’s play, you too should be learning your lines and developing your characters. Without giving too much away, this play is a sequel to a play put on by our Entertainers several years ago called “The Red Velvet Cake War”, and many of your favorite characters will come alive again

with some new cast members. To our actors: this is the time to do most of your homework. The sooner your lines are memorized, the sooner you can concentrate on learning where to stand, where to sit, and all the rest that goes into putting on a play. Things always go a lot smoother when we have our lines memorized so we can start to make the characters our own! If you do a little at a time throughout the summer, you’ll have it memorized in no time!! Stay cool, Tara Woods…I hear it’s a little hot down there! Hahaha!

NEW IMAGE CHORUS

Welcome to June and the beginning of our official summer. I know that those of you down south are thinking to yourselves…what are you talking about? It’s been like summer since April! But if I may indulge myself, June and July in the north finally bring longer periods of warmth to our little corners of the world and we can enjoy the north outdoors! The Chorus is on hiatus for the summer and into early fall, but we want to make sure everybody knows about the show which is going to be next March with the New Image Chorus. This is something a little different for us as we want to share the stage with our Tara Woods Family! Well, we’d like you to take the stage with your talent!! Whatever you have. Do you have a special talent? Are you a closet juggler? A dancer? Do you sing in the shower? Like to lip sync and dance to Britney Spears? Tell jokes around the table at Saturday Morning Coffee? How about playing a musical instrument?? We are looking for TALENT. Any kind of talent will do... I even saw in the last month on our Tara Woods Residents Facebook Group someone posting about dancing dogs. Maybe you have an animal that you’ve taught

to do some amazing tricks! We’d love to see it! Tara Woods Got Talent will take place on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, and it’s going to be great! The Chorus will weave their way in and out amongst the talent to entertain you with songs throughout the show. All our snowbirds have pretty much flown back north to their summer homes, they’ve reconnected with family and friends, and I just know they are looking for something to do!! It’s time to start practicing your talent!! Summer is the perfect time to start practicing for this fun event. We will be having auditions sometime in October when we snowbirds come back. Not going to be here until later – but would still like to participate? That’s okay; just let us know, and we’ll be in touch! I really can’t wait to see the talent that I know exists in our wonderful community!! We want to celebrate you!

As always, we are looking for new members for our Chorus. We practice on Mondays from 12:30 to 2:30 PM, and we would love to welcome you. Just come and try it out once! More details as to when the Chorus will begin again in the fall! Goodbye, Tara Woods, until October! I’m going to miss you!!

AED’S LOCATIONS

If you’re wondering what an AED is – and why they seem to be located in most offices and public buildings, you’re not alone. In fact, because these devices are now commonly available, more people than ever before are curious about them. So – just what is an AED? An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

It’s a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.

Please make sure the GREEN light on the AED is flashing consistently. If it is not, please notify the Tara Woods Office, or a CERT team member.

This AED is located at the north entrance of the Clubhouse.
This AED is located in the Exercise Room off the Pool.
This AED is located in the Craft Room near the Tennis Courts.
