KIDS CORNER
How it all got started...
A phone call to Henry Rhodes, requesting help for a few children that would not otherwise have Christmas, was the beginning of The Landings Holiday Charitable Foundation (LHCF). With some help from friends, seven children enjoyed a Christmas that they wouldn’t have had any other way! This grass roots effort to help children with cancer has now grown into an IRS approved 501(c)(3) charity that supports four organizations with the focus on helping disadvantaged children who might otherwise fall through the cracks.... which is particularly unfortunate during the holidays. The four organizations whose kids benefit from our mission, Children’s Cancer Center, Hannah’s House, Blue Butterfly, and Sunshine Kids.
The Landings Holiday Children’s Foundation mission continues for its 8th year providing holiday gifts to children affected by cancer, abuse, or loss of a loved one.
How can you help
1. Adopt a child or children by purchasing gifts from a child’s provided Wish List. Please let us know the gender, age, and organization that you would like to support. 2. Make a tax-deductible donation to the LHCF and drop off your check or mail it to LHCF, c/o Landing Racquet Club, 5350 Landings Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34231. 3. Make a secure tax-deductible donation online with your credit card. 4. Volunteer to be a shopper fulfilling a wish list or lists, using
Foundation funds. 5. With gift drop-off, be an elf along Landings Blvd the day of the party, join a committee and share your talents!
Let’s see how much more we can do together
Continue to check for additional information in future issues of the Eagle; look for future e-blasts; check the LRC bulletin board and pick up a post card with Foundation information inside LRC office. Last year in response to COVID we created a ‘drive-thru” party for the children with stops at Reindeer
