KID’S SCENE

South Gate & Sticker Program Update By LMA Safety & Security Committee The South Gate inbound and outbound lanes are now open to all Landings residents who have received the new gate opening decals. The old decals will continue to work at all gates EXCEPT the inbound lane sensor at the South Gate. We are currently working our way from south to the north in the Landings with our decal sticker installation program. The thought behind this schedule was to start with those residents closest to the South Gate so they can come and go using the new decals. Because of the damage to that gate, the old decals will not open the South Gate entrance. The old decals will continue to work at the main and north gates, as well as the outbound lane at the South Gate. You will not see any interruption of gate opening service to get in and out of the Landings. We have assumed that those residents north of Landings Blvd. will most likely use the north gate to go toward downtown and use the main gate to go south on Tamiami Trail. Residents will be notified by email when your Association is scheduled for decal sticker installation. To date, all Eagles

Point Associations, all Landings South 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Associations and the Treehouses Association have been not i f ied of t hei r scheduled times. In late June, the following streets were also scheduled to get their decal stickers at Eagles Point Circle: Kestral Park South (except Carriage House 1 residents on Kestral Park South), Kestral Park Place, Kestral Park Lane, Kestral Park Terrace, Flicker Field Circle and The Cloisters. It is required to show your vehicle registration when picking up your new decal. Then, the following Associations will be scheduled in the following order: 1. Landings Blvd homeowners, Landings Way, Landings Lane, Landings Court, and Landings Terrace. 2. Carriage House I and II 3. T h e Pe r e g r i n e Poi nt neighborhood i ncludi ng: Peregrine Point Drive, Peregrine Point Circles, Peregrine Point Way and Peregrine Point Court. 4. Pine Harrier Drive and Pine Harrier Circle. Dates have not yet been firmed up for these installations. Once we have gone through the initial pass through all associations, we will

then be developing a plan to install decal stickers on vehicles that have missed their association’s installation window and the returning residents who have left for the summer. Remember, the old decals will continue to work until we are comfortable that the majority of our residents have been registered on the new

system. DO NOT REMOVE THE OLD STICKER UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO. Remember to bring your vehicle registration to your appointed time. We ask that you have patience as we work through this complex process with our all-volunteer installation team made up of your fellow residents. Thank you.

I am excited to announce that we have erected two kayak racks on the nature trail next to the observation deck which is about 300 feet from the Gazebo. We are grateful for the assistance of Kevin Lechlitner who helped haul out the componnets using the LRC utility golf cart and provided a much needed drill for the assembly of the racks. We are also grateful for the assistance of David Osborn, whose expert technical skills made assembly a breeze. Now that the racks are up, you are welcome to take a walk down the trail and see them for yourself. They are designed and manufactured by Lesstor Storage Racks based in Fort Lauderdale. Lesstor is a major supplier of storage racks to associations and communities all over Florida and other states. The rack design has been vetted and tested over

many iterations. These racks are free-standing to minimize impact to the trail and to provide the ability to disassemble and move in case of a major storm. In the coming weeks, the Kayak Storage Com m it te e w i l l b e finalizing the lottery selection and storage rental agreement. The racks have 12 spots each, 24 spots total between the two racks. The results of the Kayak Survey showed that demand for boat storage in The Landings is high, with over 90 individuals requesting to be included in the lottery for a spot on the rack. Once the two racks fill up and we are happy with the usability of these racks, the Kayak Storage Committee will source more racks to be assembled in the same area of the trail. for additional racks. Our goal will be to accommodate as many boat owners as we can given the space limitations. Rack spots will be assigned u si ng a lot ter y ba s ed on a randomized selection of the individuals who provided their email address i n the Kayak S u r ve y q u e s t i o n n a i r e l a s t month. Those individuals who are selected will have 30 days to sign the LMA Boat Storage Agreement, pay a $100 fee to LMA for the “berth” and have a boat (e.g. kayak or paddle board) ready for storage on the rack. LMA will require that boats be secured to the rolling bars at the front and back using heavy duty rubber straps that will be provided by LMA. The boat storage agreement will require that the renter (“Lessee”) of the

berth accept liability for any damage caused to his/her boat, the storage rack, or any other boats on the rack. The renter will be responsible for providing his/ her own cable lock to secure the boat to the rack to prevent theft or misuse. The racks are situated to facilitate access to the water at one of two points. The closest launch point is an opening in the mangroves immediately to the right of the racks. Access to the bay will require navigation through a mangrove tunnel. The other launch point is next to the Gazebo, directly on the bay, which will require transporting the boat about 300 feet. This project has been many months in the making and I am proud to say that The Landings will f i n a l ly h ave b oat acce ss to Sarasota’s beautiful waterfront.
