Baileys Flock After 15 years of dedicated breeding we have come to the difficult decision to total disperse the flock. We believe sale these ewes will give existing breeders the chance to expand their flocks and new breeders to start with exceptional bloodlines.

The flock was founded on the purchase of five ewe hoggets privately from the Muiresk flock. One of these original ewes has made the biggest influence on the flock. She has bred a National Champion in 2005 and a Blessington Champion in 2006 selling for a record €38,000 and his E.T. brother sold for €18,000. We hold the current record for Texels sold in the south of Ireland and the second highest price.

Other additions to the flock were made from Glenside, Forkins, Cairness, Laurelbank, Chessy and Lawn flocks. One of the most notable purchases in the flock was the €28,000 gns, Forkins Nijinsky, who bred very well, siring National Champion 2005, 1st prize senior ewe lamb and 1st prize senior ram lamb. He also sired joint top priced lamb at Blessington,top price at Athenry and Blessington 2nd Sale. One of his most notable sons was the renowned Bailey’s One and Only stock ram in the Lawn and Ballybur flocks who left his mark in the show ring over the years.

Baileys Texels has left a record on the show circuit that will be admired for years to come by winning the National Championships 2005-2008. Tullamore Champion 2005. Reserve Female Balmoral 2007-2009. 1st Prize Shearling Ram Balmoral 2007. 1st Prize Ewe Hogget Balmoral 2007, 2009.We have such faith in the ewes that he is offering for sale and their ability to breed we have invested in two of this years much admired ram lambs in Blessington Derrylahan Big Balls purchased for 6,200 and the 3,000 EnniscroneBarrin who are both 5 stared terminal rams.

We are also offering the rare opportunity to purchase recipients carrying embryos from his top ewes who will be included in the sale.

Emlach Flock The Emlach Flock was established in 2005. The foundation ewes were purchased from the Chessy, Foundry and Oberstown flocks. Since then top quality ewes have been purchased privately from the Ballybrooney and the renowned British Claybury flocks. In recent years, with the help of embryo transfer work, we have taken the flock from strength to strength resulting in great successes in the show ring including All-Ireland Hogget Ewe 2011, AllIreland Open Ram and Ewe Lamb 2012, All-Ireland Junior Ram Lamb 2013 and 2nd place All Ireland Junior Ram Lamb 2015, Reserve Male Champion at the National Championships, Gorey 2017.

2018 was a successful year on the show scene; 4th place in Open Ram lamb at National Championships in Kilkenny and 1st prize in Open Ram lamb at the South West Championships in Charleville.

All our ewes are on the Heptavac–P system, are vaccinated with Toxovax and Enzovax and are dosed for Fluke and Worm.

Milnbank American Sniper: Sold at Carlisle 2017 for 10,000gns. He is by the £60K Strathbogie Yes Sir and his dam is a super ewe by the 48K Untouchable. He has bred to 9K in his first year – Procters Bobby Dazzler (Male Champion Great Yorkshire Show 2018!)

Derrylahan You’re The Man: By the renowned Knock Trident. Was placed 3rd at The National Championships – Gorey 2017. Has grown into a huge sheep with length, character and a great top! Has been Overall Champion at numerous local shows 2017 & 2018.

Donnelly Bavardage: Natural born mid March twin out of the great Garngour Vintage ewe that bred Overall Premier Sale Champion 2018 for Patrick Joyce. She has also bred the the first prize ewe lamb at the National Championships 2017 & 2018 for Donnelly Texels! Very sharp lamb with a great carcass. Eagerly awaiting his first crop of Lambs.

Ryan Texels The Lawn, Graigues and Rotsee Flocks (Ryan Texels) were established in the late 1980’s with the purchase of ewes at Texel Society Sales. When selecting ewes and rams for the Ryan flocks, much emphasis is placed on the commercial traits of the Texel Breed, i.e. muscling, length, tight skins and correctness. Garralogh Iggy Pop, Lawn Jupiter, Dutch Halley’s Comet, Baileys One & Only,Oberstown Tornado, Millfarm Umbro,Millfarm Usher, Roscommon Watch Me and Doon Hill Viking are successful sires with these traits that have been used on the flocks in recent years.Ewes purchased from Ryan Texel flocks in the recent years have gone on to produce top quality stock which include in 2016 the Reserve Female Champion at Blessington Premier for Michael Dwyer’s Oran Flock and also for Michael in 2018 the 1st & 2nd prize winning Ewe Lambs at Blessington Premier also in 2018 FRI 1602551 who was purchased by the Hexel Flock (UK) at the Blessington Premier in 2017 produced in 2018 Hexel Born to be Wild who sold for 8000gns in Lanark Premier Sale. The Foundry Flock The Foundry Flock was established in 1999. We have built up a large flock of ewes the main features of which are size, easy fleshing and correctness. We had great success in the past with selling a ram to Scotland for €14,000 and Stock rams to €4,000 and €3,500. We sell about 60 rams per year.

2017 and 2018 were very good years for us.The progeny of Greenhill Yemen Boy gave a great boost to our sales. To cap it all he received the inaugural award of Irish Sire of the Year at the Awards event after our AGM in November 2017.He is a very good follower to our last Great Stock Ram Oberstown Tuff. We have exported rams to Germany for many years now.

Today we have 5 daughters of Greenhill Yemen Boy on the sale and 4 hoggets are in lamb to him. 11 of our 12 ewes are in lamb to type 1 rams and 11 are also in lamb to 5 star rams.

Sires and Service Sires Greenhill Yemen Boy HUI16069 ARRARR Irish Sire of the Year 2017.Purchased in Blessington 2016 for €2,730. He was first prizewinner in the open ram lamb class in the National Championships 2016 .His sire Hillcrest Wagner won the shearling ram class in the Championships 2016. In 2017 at the Premier Sale his ram lambs made 1800,1500,1100 and 1050 for the 4 presented. In 2018 his 5 ram lambs averaged €1,000 at the Premier Sale.

Oberstown Tuff PFI12014 Three ewes on the sale are by Tuff. He is double 5 star with high accuracy and minus 10 days to slaughter.

Annakisha Braveheart OKI1805982 Braveheart was bought this year in Blessington mainly to improve breed character and length in the flock. He has a very good carcass.

He is minus 8 days to slaughter. He cost €2,400.

Castle Abacus DLI1706506 Abacus was bought last year in Blessington. He had the highest Eurostar value at the sale.

He went into the CPT and still maintained his high star value after siring 118 commercial lambs. He has a great carcass and good wool with no peeling.

Murphys Bobby PXE1803158 Sired by Greenhill Yemen Boy. Dam a 7 year old ewe by Larahirl Lucky Star. Double 5 star ram with height and length and very tight wool.

The Foundry Flock is Scrapie Monitored and ewes are export eligible. Our shearling ewes are vaccinated with toxavax and are on the heptavac p system.Performance figures will be available on the pen at the sale.

They were dosed with supaverm on Nov.1st. for fluke and worms.A dna sample of all our hoggets have been sent for genotyping.

Donnelly Flock The Donnelly Flock was established with the purchase of ewes from Tysaxon and Chessy flocks. Select ewes have been added to the flock since from the Ballybrooney & Derrylahan flocks and from the Forkins & Cherryvale flocks Northern Ireland.

The flock has improved steadily with the help of embryo work in recent years, 2016 was a highlight winning 1st & 2nd Prize Senior Ewe Lambs & 1st Prize Junior Ewe Lamb at the All Irelands in Dundalk, with the 1st Prize Senior Ewe Lamb going on to be Reserve Overall Champion. In lamb shearlings sold for €2100 & €2000 at this sale also in 2016.

The flock enjoyed its best year to date in 2017 with our three entries for the All Irelands in Gorey all winning their respective classes, 1st Prize Shearling ewe, 1st Prize Senior Ewe Lamb and 1st Prize Junior Ewe Lamb, with the 1st Prize Senior Ewe lamb being awarded All Ireland Female Champion and Reserve Overall Champion. One of the 2017 ram lambs stood Reserve Overall Champion at Blessington Premier Show & Sale selling for €4800.

Another ram lamb stood Overall Champion at Athenry Open Show & Sale and sold for an Athenry record Texel price of €2020 for export to Northern Ireland. Shearling ewes sold to €2400 at this sale in 2017.

2018 saw our two entries for the All Irelands stand 1st and 4th in the Senior Ewe Lamb class, the third year in a row winning the Senior Ewe Lamb class. Ram lambs in Blessington this year sold for €1800 standing 4th in the Open Class and €1700 standing 2nd in the Lambplus Class., along with Champion with one lamb and highest price of €920 with another lamb at our club sale in Ballinrobe.

Sires and Service Sires Knonk Yazoo: A proven breeder, siring 2017 Blessington Reserve Champion, 2017 All Ireland Female Champion, 2018 Blessington Supreme Champion, with 7 sons averaging €2428 in Blessington this year selling to a top of €6200. Yazoo is also the Tullamore National Livestock Show Texel Champion 2018.

Forkins Will-I-Ram: Purchased in Carlisle 2015 for 1,600gns by Tophill Union Jack. His dam was Balmoral Interbreed Champion 2012, he has sired ewes to €1600, €2000 and €2300 Derrylahan Amazon: Retained for use by the Derrylahan Flock, maternal brother to their 2015 All Ireland Supreme Champion, a very smart ram with length,muscle off one of their best ewes Donnelly Brandyn: Full brother to 1st and 2nd Prize All Ireland Senior Ewe Lambs 2016, 1st Prize All Ireland Shearling Ewe 2017, with full sisters selling for €1300, €2000, €2100 & €2400.

Annakisha Flock The Annakisha Flock was established in 2001. In 2004 we purchased ewes from the Claybury flock in England, which have had a marked influence on the flock. These ewes have been responsible for our major successes over the last few years. Most notably Reserve Female Champion All Ireland 2010 and 2012, Reserve Supreme Champion All Ireland 2011 and 1st Prize Aged Ewe All Ireland 2013 and 2015, 1st prize ram lamb and reserve male champion 2014, 2016 and champion junior ewe lamb 2018. Champion at Premier Sale 2010, Reserve Champion Premier Sale 2011 and 2014 and Champion Group of Three Premier Sale 2013 and 2014. Supreme Female Champion Premier Show and Sale 2017 sired by Claybury Warrior. The flock has also enjoyed championship success at numerous shows around the country, including National Livestock Show Tullamore 2012 and 2013 and reserve champion 2014, 2016 and 2017. Champion Shearling Ram 2017 with Arkle You Star. We also had Supreme Champion at the South West Championships 2018. We had Champion at the South West Premier Show and Sale 2016 and 2017.

He was purchased for his length, back end, and superb top line. With a beautiful head and colours. He sired first Prize Junior Ram Lamb and Reserve Male Champion All Ireland 2016. He sired the 2nd prize shearling ewe at the Texel All Ireland 2017. He also sired the Supreme Female Champion at the Premier Show and Sale Blessington 2017 and the first prize recorded ram lamb 2017 with daughters selling to 2700gns.

Arkle You Star Purchased Lanark 2016, Full brother sold Lanark 2015 for 8,000gns and ET brother sold Lanark 2016 for 20,000gns. Champion Shearling Ram at National Livestock Show Tullamore 2017. Top son sold privately to the Emlach Flock 2017.

Forkins Anfield Son of the £16,000 Farmhill Wizz Kid, Anfield is a massive shearling with super carcase and size, from a very good female line used by kind permission.

Thornville Texels We are delighted to be allowed to bring a guest consignment for the second time to this prestigious sale. Thornville Texels was founded 17 years ago. Our main success has come in recent years after investing in strong female lines, the most notable of these females would be “The Ettrick Ewe. She has left her mark on the flock, her first daughter receiving the reserve female champion in Blessington Premier and sold for €2,000gns to OberstownTexels where she bred €4,200,.We were lucky to purchase a half share of this ewe back and we have a granddaughter in the sale today. The Ettrick ewe also bred sons to €3,000, grandsons to €4,400, €2,400, €2,100, €2,000, €1,400, €1,100, €1,000. She has also left her mark in the show ring with her decendents including the All Ireland Champion 2017, Premier Sale Female Champion and Over All 2016, Reserve Male Premier Sale Champion 2018. Her decendents featured in the 1st prize premier sale group of 3 2015,2016 and 2017. We are offering a number of females going back to her today. After the success of this line we purchased another ewe from Ettrick going back to this line who is the mother of 2 of the entries.

One of the other main female lines in the flock goes back to TYC09016 which we purchased some exceptional daughters of, which bred our male champion in 2016 Thornville Yogi Bear who definitely left his mark for this new owners Crosserlough, Navac, Corryhill, Ravensdale. His lambs featured heavily on shows and sales. We have 2 grand daughters of TYC 0916 in the sale.

Our greatest success to date is seeing our genetics performing well with their new owners.

Some recent success would be Liam Dillions Reserve Overall Champion Blessington 2018 sold for 4,000 guineas, Thornville Alberto winning Reserve Male Champion All Ireland 2018 for the Greenhill flock. Sean McGees Yogi Bear Son sold €1,200 in the LambPlus sale 2018, Thornville Ace producing the Reserve North East Champion for Pearse Leonard 2018 and Springbridge Winning Novice Ram Lamb All Ireland 2017 out of a Thornville Sire and Dam. This year’s females come from the best lines in the flock and are being sold in an effort to reduce numbers. We believe these will continue to grow on for their new owners due to the bad spring and summer they had for grass. We look forward to seeing how these ewes go on for their new owners and we hope they breed as well as we think they can.

Knap Arthur Daly: Sired by the 60k Clinterty Yuga Khan, Arthur Daly has grown into a massive sheep, he is owned jointly with Oberstown.

Conditions of Sale 1. The stock will be sold in the order in which they appear in the catalogue and the highest bidder on each lot on the fall of the hammer will be declared the purchaser. If any dispute shall arise between two or more bidders then the lot in dispute will be put up again and resold, or the purchaser may be declared by the auctioneers.
