Clew Bay Flock

Our flock, established in 2005, has always focused on breeding strong, high-quality rams to meet the growing local demand for commercial sheep production. In 2011, we embraced AI and embryo transfer, which have enabled us to compete successfully on a national level.

The use of ET has also placed us in the unique position of being able to offer some of our top breeding females for sale. For the first time, we are excited to include ewe lambs in our sale.

Additionally, thanks to an exceptionally good flush this year, we are proud to present some of our best flushing ewes for sale.

This year has been particularly successful for us in the show ring, and we are delighted to offer a full sister to our standout ewe lamb of the season. These opportunities reflect the ongoing success of our breeding program, and we are proud to share the results with you.

Brideswell Texels Brideswell Texels is based in the village of Brideswell in South Roscommon. The farm has been a commercial sheep and suckler enterprise for over 35 years. During that period, we would have used pedigree Texel rams for our commercial flock.

The Brideswell Texels pedigree flock was established in 2020 with the purchase of females from a number of pedigree flocks including Enniscrone, Clewbay, Silverhill and Hillcrest.

Our stock ram, Greenhill Fionn MacCumhaill (HUI2207307) , who was purchased at the Premier Show and Sale in Blessington 2022 for €5,000, has bred extremely well in his first two years. He sired the Champion Ewe Lamb at the Western Region Annual Female Show and Sale 2023 in Roscommon. Two of Greenhill Fionn MacCumhaill’s daughters topped the in-lamb shearling section at this year’s West Region Female Show & Sale in Roscommon.

Ram lambs sired by Greenhill Fionn Mac Cumhaill have performed extremely well over the last year: Two sons were placed 4th at the All-Ireland & National Championships 2024; Reserve Champion and sale topper at Western Region Show and Sale in Athenry 2024; Reserve Champion at Athenry Open Show & Sale 2024; Champion Lamb and Sale Topper at Western Region Show & Sale 2023 in Ballinasloe & Sale Topper Ballinasloe Sale 2024; Novice Champion ram lamb at West Region Premier Show & Sale 2023.

Our second stock ram, Brideswell Gladiator (YMH2307129) , has also bred very well in his first year with sons selling up to €1,500. He is a 5 Star Ram by the €13,000 Clara Fandango who was the Premier Show & Sale Champion 2022 in Blessington.

CONDITIONS OF SALE

1. The stock will be sold in the order which they appear in the catalogue and the highest bidder on each lot on the fall of the banner will be declared the purchaser.

If any dispute shall arise between two or more bidders then the lot in dispute will be put up again and resold, or the purchaser may be declared by the auctioneer.

2. The pedigree and description of the lots are believed to be correct, but are not intended as a warranty and therefore shall be taken with all faults and errors of description.

3. All animals are at the risk of the vendor before sale and of the purchaser after the sale. The auctioneer accepts no responsibility for damage or injury caused to the animal in the sales yard or in its precinct thereof.
