Conditions of Sale

1. The stock will be sold in the order in which they appear in the catalogue and the highest bidder on each lot on the fall of the hammer will be declared the purchaser. If any dispute shall arise between two or more bidders then the lot in dispute will be put up again and resold, or the purchaser may be declared by the auctioneers.

2. The pedigree and description of the lots are believed to be correct, but are not intended as a warranty and therefore shall be taken with all faults and errors of description.

3. All animals are at the risk of vendor before sale and the purchaser after the sale. The auctioneer accepts no responsibility for damage or injury caused to the animal in the sales yard or in its precinct thereof.

4. The service dates, while believed to be correct, cannot however be guaranteed.

5. All lots will be sold in euros. Purchaser will be charged a fee of 5% of the sale price.

6. Purchasers shall, if and when required, give their names and address to the auctioneers and shall if required, pay to the auctioneers the purchase money for each lot at the fall of the hammer, or so soon thereafter as the auctioneers may require.

7. Purchaser paying by cheque must be prepared, if required, to produce a banker’s reference.

8. No lots shall be removed from the sale premises until a written delivery order has been given by or on behalf of the auctioneers.

9. Each lot shall, at the purchaser’s expense, be removed from the sale premises within a reasonable time after the close of the day’s sale.

10. All statements in the catalogue or made by the auctioneer at the time of sale relating to the animal are believed to be correct. No sale shall be invalidated by reason of any defect or faults in any of the animals by reason of any of the animals being incorrectly described in the catalogue, or by the Auctioneer in the ring, and no compensation shall be paid in respect of any faults or errors of description.

In 2011 the Clonard flock was established with the private purchase of five pedigree in-lamb ewes from the Ballybroney flock and at society in-lamb sales down through the years to introduce new bloodlines within the flock. We take massive emphasis on size, power and style without compromising on the characteristics of the breed. Our greatest achievement to date was been crowned the North East show flock for 2019, 2nd in the All-Ireland and Tullamore show with Annakisha Anthony, and several championships down through the years at local shows.

He was shown very successful this year with a second placing in the Tullamore National Show been his best. DejaVue has bred lambs to €800 and his first crop of ewe lambs are looking very promising for hoggets. He is sired by Foundry Achilles and out of a Hillcrest Yeovil ewe. All proceeds from the sale of this scanned twin embryo will be donated to Crumlin Children’s Hospital which is a very worthy cause that cares for sick babies and children from the age of 0 to the eve of their 16th birthday. Every attempt is made to provide a child-friendly and family orientated environment for the children and their families while giving full attention to the treatment of the sick. And is very close to our hearts here at home.

Dam of the embryo is our Haddo ewe KWJ1801561 which we purchased in Scotland. Her dam is full sister to 24k Breadwinner and 24k Wait a Minty. Her sire is Clinterty Yuga Khan, her dam is a homebred Haddo ewe sired by Strathbogie Smokey Blue. She is breeding exceptionally well here within the flock, has progeny sold into pedigree flocks, has flushed double figures this year giving 32 grade one’s in two flushes and scanned back in-lamb with a single.

The sire of the embryo is the 42k Mullan Armani, who is breeding exceptionally well throughout Ireland and the UK with sons selling to 15k,10k x2, 8.2k and 7.2k and females to 5k

Diamond Texel's was established in 2018 with the purchase of 5 in lamb ewes from the Foundry,Annakisha, Geordie, and Corryhill flocks. Since then, we have continued to grow and improve the flock with both males and females from some of the top flocks in Ireland and the UK.

Health Status

Ewes are part of the Heptavac P programme, fluke, and wormed on Nov 28th and will receive an Allsure bolus prior to the sale.

All our sheep male and female are performance recorded with Sheep Ireland and are DNA sampled.

Greenhill Dynamite: Purchased at the Blessington Premier sale for E1.5K. A massive son of HaymountCrowdpuller, he is a proven breeder whose dam has produced Greenhill Ecstasy E4.5K, Cowboy E3K, and Errigal E1.4K. Dynamite has also been used as part of the Sheep Ireland CPT programme.

Lanmore Duff Man: Purchased for his power and confirmation at the Premier sale this lad is sired by the renowned Knock Yazoo.

Knockhill Fury: A lamb with style, length, power and class, Fury is a double 5-star ram and is a maternal brother to Knockhill Engel who was this year’s All Ireland Champion in Finn Valley.

Blackstown Forrester: Purchased at the Nothern Ireland Premier in Ballymena. A lengthy son of Sportsman Encore, Forrester has an excellent carcass and confirmation. This fella is a grandson of the £38K Castlecairn Doodlebug who has sired lambs to £75K

The flock was established in 2014 with our main aim to breed sheep that meet the requirements of the commercial sheep farmer while maintaining some of that pedigree sparkle that makes breeding Texel sheep so enjoyable. The flock ethos has been to buy the best rams available to us along with a small number of select ewes in order to produce long-necked, clean, well-muscled sheep with power and length that are functionally sound and fit for purpose.

This year has been one to remember for Kilduff Texels, one of the main highlights was selling Chief’s son Kilduff Fit-as-a-Fiddle for €5500gns at Blessington Premier sale to Scottish flocks Cambwell, Boghouse and Castlebank. In total, we sold 24 Chief progenies to date this year averaging €1558.

All 8 ewes we have put forward are sired by Loosebeare Chief and out of some of our best female lines.

All sheep are genotyped and are vaccinated for Heptavac P, Enzovax, and Toxovax.

Reference to Sire: Loosebeare Chief was purchased privately in partnership for £10,000. All- Ireland Aged Ram 2022. Chief was bred with exceptional power, length, and carcass while putting that length of neck and high head carriage into all his offspring. He has produced Kilduff sons to top @ €5500 but more impressive is his consistency with 16 sons from Kilduff selling to pedigree flocks this year. With 5 Star ratings in the Replacement, Daughter Milk and Survivability indexes we believe his daughters have all the attributes to make long-lasting functional stock ewes!

Reference to Service Sires: Loosebeare Everest was purchased privately for his exceptional power, length, carcass, and superb skin. The plan is to compound all the positive traits that Chief has transmitted. Everest was our pick of 4 ET brothers, with his 3 full brothers subsequently selling for £4000 twice and £3800, one being first prize shearling and overall reserve champion at English National. His sire bred rams to £7000. His dam was a show ewe and bred rams to £4800. Complete outcross for most Irish breeders. ARR ARR

Our aim is to provide good quality carcass sheep with muscle and length which we find very important to give results to both commercial and pedigree breeders.

A Double 5 Star Ram, who is in the top 1% for days to slaughter, Genotype 1 ARR ARR, and who has grown into a serious sheep with length, power and mighty carcasses.

A warm welcome to our 2022 Annual North East Texel Twilight sale at Carnaross Mart.

CrosserloughTexels was established in 2010. Our aim is to breed sheep with plenty of power, style, and size that appeal to the modern-day sheep farmer. In 2016 and 2017 we purchased three in-lamb shearling ewes at the Twilight sale. In 2017 we purchased a Greenstar hogget ewe in Blessington a maternal sister to the Champion Alfie that same year. There have gone on to be very successful breeding ewes within our flock.

We have two hoggets in the sale this evening. They are in lamb to Midlock Dorito. Midlock Dorito was purchased privately in partnership with the Navac Flock. He is the son of Cannonball and has grown into a stunning example of the Texel Breed with great length, perfect coloring, tight skin, and power to match. He is breeding exceptionally well having sired the 4k Reserve Champion Blessington 2022.

This is an excellent opportunity to get one of his offspring which is sure to be a great addition to any flock.

The Navac Flock was established in 2000. Two hoggets in – lamb ewes and three ewe lambs were initially purchased from Frank Harrington’s flock. This was followed by investment in rams purchased from other leading Irish flocks, such as Greenhill, Ballybrooney, Ryan, and Mullen flocks.

Subsequent in-lamb ewes were purchased from Larahill, Hillcrest, Milestonehill, Chessy, Macetown, and the Foundry floch.

The Navac Flock developed over the years with much success at local shows. In 2011 a ram was imported from the famous Glenside Flock in Scotland Glenside Roller shares the same bloodlines as the renowned RAZZLE DAZZLE. Roller had a huge impact on the flock resulting in winning the All Ireland Large Flock Competition in 2014 and the winning pen of 10 ewe lambs

In more recent years with the help of embryo technology, the Navac Flock continues to grow from strength to strength, winning the Regional flock competition in 2017 and the North East Virtual show in 2020 with his much-admired ewe lamb.

Our hogget in this year’s sale is served by Greenhill Freddy a double 5-Star Ram. All our sheep are on the Heptavac P Programme.

In our 33 years of breeding, 2022 has been one of our best years to date. Our ram lamb Oberstown Forever selling for 5,000 and our Ewe lamb Oberstown Freya the female and overall reserve champion at Blessington premier sale selling for 4,000.

The biggest influence on the flock to date is the purchase of the famous TYC 09016 purchased from the Curley Flock in 2009. In 2013 she bred Oberstown Usain Bolt for 7,000gns. Bolt became the Uk sire of the year in 2014. Bolt’s full sister PFI13018 is the backbone of the flock to date. She is the grandmother of Oberstown Forever and grandmother to several lots in this sale.

In 2020 we purchased CJN1805549 from Garngour, the same female line as Midlock Capaldi sold 200k. CJN1805549 has bred this year Blessington Female champion and overall reserve champion Oberstown Freya selling for 4,000 euros.

All our gimmers are from the above female lines.

All gimmers, on the Hepvac system are due a booster in January.

In 2016 we were rewarded regional winners of the North East Texel Flock competition.

In 2018 we were rewarded at the North East championships in Dundalk show reserve champion texel with our ram lamb (Glassdrummond boomerang).

We have put forward three gimmers that are star rated on sheep Ireland and are hepatic-p programmed. They are in-lamb to our main service sire Teiglum Earl bought privately from the famous (Teiglum Flock and Clark family).

He is a Wydden Ding Dong son out of an outstanding Proctors Chumba Wamba Gimmer who is a maternal sister to Teiglum Crackerjack and we are very excited to see his progeny.

Procters Class Act: Four daughters are in the sale. Six sons (ram Lambs) averaged €3130 and three daughters (ewe lambs) averaged €1100 at the Blessington Premier 2021. A son set a new price record at the Sheep Ireland Sale selling for €3.3k. This year, a Class Act daughter, the Champion Female Hogget and Reserve Female Overall Champion at Blessington Premier sold for €2.5k guineas. A son, Greenhill Fionn Mac Cumhaill, sold for €5k at the same sale. His sons were awarded Champion Male and Reserve Champion Male at the Donegal Texel Breeders Sale Raphoe in 2021 & 2022.

Greenstar Dynamite: Rhaeadr Best of the Best son out of a Tophill Wallstreet dam. Dynamite has bred well for us with ewe lambs selling to €1.2k and ram lambs to €1.5k at the Blessington Premier.

Kilclammon Brody :Irish Sire of the Year 2019. A son, Greenhill Dance Monkey, Blessington Champion 2020, sold for €6.5k. Brody is a consistent breeder of strong, stylish females.

Tullyraghan Texels was established in 2019 with the purchase of three in-lamb ewes at the North East Twilight Sale from the Navac, Oberstown and Macetown flocks. Additionally, two ewe lambs were purchased privately from the Greenhill flock. Our main aim is to produce rams for the commercial market. The establishment of the pedigree flock has been an integral part of the development of our commercial flock. This is our first year putting gimmers forward for the Twilight Sale and both entries are parentage verified by DNA. Our ewes are vaccinated for Heptavac P Plus and Footvax. Important: The Pedigree Information printed in this catalogue is as supplied by or on behalf of the breeder. The responsibility for the accuracy of the information therefore rests solely with the breeder and not Sheep Ireland.

Evaluations should never be the only tool you use when selecting animals for breeding. Animals must also be examined to ensure the animal is also physically correct; an animal that is not physically correct (ie. mouth, feet, etc.) cannot compensate for this fault regardless of its evaluation and should be avoided for breeding purposes. See below how to interpret the €uroStar catalogue.

€uroStars – How to interpret them

• Each star represents where the animal ranks on each index in 20% bounds

• One star represents the bottom 20% of the breed for that trait

• Five star represents the top 20% of the breed for that trait

• The higher the stars, the higher the predicted profitability of that animal

Animals that only have the outline of a star represent animals that have within flock evaluations, this means the star rating of these animals cannot be compared to any other animals from a different flock.

• This figure indicates more precisely where the animals rank within the breed. eg. Top 16% (see example below)

• This is displayed with a shaded line, the further to the right these are on the scale, the better its position within the breed.

Acc% (Accuracy%)

• This figure is very important as it represents the amount of data behind each evaluation. Where Acc% is low, much less emphasis should be placed on the evaluation, and vice versa.

• Accuracy is displayed for the Replacement & Terminal Indices. It is not displayed for the four sub-traits. If an animal has high accuracy on Replacement & Terminal, it will be high accuracy across all traits.

1) Replacement (€3.44) – If a farmer desires a ram to breed both lambs both for slaughter and replacement ewe lambs then they should select a ram based on this index. The bulk of this index is a combination of Lamb Survivability, Days to Slaughter, No. of lambs born & Daughters milk. The € value beside the index represents the difference in profit that each lamb sired from this ram will have. This € value is an across breed value, so different breeds can be compared to each other.

2) Terminal (€2.86) – If a farmer desires a ram to breed only lambs for slaughter then they should select a ram based on this index. The bulk of this index is a combination of Lamb Survivability and Days to Slaughter. The € value beside the index represents the difference in profit that each lamb sired from this ram will have. This € value is an across breed value, so different breeds can be compared to each other.

3) Lamb Survivability – This ranks animals based on lambing ease and lamb survival rate. Every positive % point on this index is an extra lamb surviving to 40 days and vice versa.

4) Days to Slaughter – This ranks animals on their genetic ability to grow. The index associated with this trait represents the difference in the predicted number of days required for the progeny of this ram to reach the desired slaughtered weight compared with other animals of the same breed.

5) No. of Lambs Born – This ranks animals based on the predicted prolificacy of the females from this animal compared with other animals of the same breed.

6) Daughters Milk – This ranks animals based on the predicted milking performance of their daughters compared with other animals of the same breed.
