Autumn Learning Events for the children at Dromagh National School

Fall is a bustling time in our classrooms at Dromagh National School. The eagerness of a new school year is very evident, and our children are eager to learn. Exploration, imagination, discovery are all features of our school curriculum during the month of October.

Apples, pumpkins, leaves, and the changing seasons of the outdoors all provide wonderful themes for learning activities during October. The school headed to Doneraile Wildlife Park to participate in a great day of orienteering. Children learned how to read maps, listen to, and follow directions. The children enjoyed some time on the playground afterwards and experienced eating their lunch outdoors.

As part of our Science Week 2022, the children began to explore and discover the world around them and the sciences in their everyday life. The Nutty Professors visited the school and great excitements was had with explosions, chemical reactions only a few of the many explorations that the children completed during the week. As the midterm break approached, we got ready for our Halloween party. We carved our pumpkins, baked our festive treats, and played the traditional Halloween party games. Within the valleys of Dromagh, the ghosts, witches, monsters, mummies, skeletons, zombies and many more characters were to be seen at the school gates.

A wonderful Halloween party was had by all. After the party had finished on the 28th of October, The Master of the House, Mr. J. McAuliffe and Deputy Master Ms. E. Sheehan waved their invisible, magic wands and announced, “Hocus Pocus”, suddenly the gate of the school began to close - it was time for the Halloween Break for our wonderful children at Dromagh National School.
