FRENCH NIGHT | Greystone Mansion, Beverly Hills Dinner on the Terrace French Chef creations Orpheus: HOMMAGE A SAINT-SAËNS
With 2021 premiere of their new album ORPHEUS, The Zadig Trio marked the centenary of Camille Saint-Saëns’s death to admire two essential facets of his work: composition and transcription. Saint-Saëns’ arrangements of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Pièces de clavecin en concerts 1 and 5 and Franz Liszt’s Orpheus frame his own Trio for piano, violin and cello in E minor op. 92.

F. Liszt Orpheus, S.98 (arr. C. Saint-Saëns)
JP. Rameau - Pièces de clavecin en concerts (arr. C. Saint-Saëns)
C. Saint-Saëns - Piano Trio n°2 in e minor, Op. 92
“This program gives us the impression of travelling through time and space, between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.... It is a chance to discover or rediscover the compositional skills, sense of form and dialogue, thematic inventiveness, and rich harmonies of Saint-Saëns. True to its penchant for seldom-frequented repertory, Trio Zadig, imitating the Voltairean hero from whom it takes its name, continues its adventure in the world of chamber music.” - Label Fuga Libera

Friends and Music Aficionados:
With May Gray and June Gloom it is hard to believe that we are just few weeks away from our annual musical celebrations.

After 25 seasons of local and international accolades, and, naming the festival “…one of the highlights — in some years, THE highlight — of the summer here,” iPalpiti festival transitions into biennial production. It will allow the organization to focus on grants and awards to the artists, catalogue and digitize massive historical recordings and materials, and, also allow iPalpiti’s Maestro Eduard Schmieder to take on other summer engagements.
In this 26th summer season we bring you the interim “mini-festival” featuring Trio Zadig from Paris in concerts and events in Beverly Hills and beyond from July 17-23. The Trio, with a blessing from the legendary founder of the Beaux Art Trio, Menahem Pressler, is poised to become THE TRIO of its generation.
www.TrioZadig.com
Many of you heard them in 2019 as the trio-in-residence of the iPalpiti Festival, three charming and super talented young men made waves in Southern California with “take-away your breath performances,” thunderous applause, even shouts ”will adopt you now!” The highlight was their solo with iPalpiti orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall, in “..Fantasia Hungariana… a de-facto triple concerto showcase for the festival’s charismatic ensemble-in-residence, Trio Zadig (Boris Borgolotto violin; Marc Girard-Garcia cello; Ian Barber piano)” – LA Times, Rick Ginell
Scheduled to return to LA in July 2020 as soloists at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, turned into virtual In the Time of Corona festival, the Trio has recorded a very special program LOVE from Paris to our very special audiences. As resident artists of the famed Foundation Singer-Polignac, that concert was recorded in the concert space of the Foundation’ castle.

For iPalpiti’s 25th anniversary the Trio played a virtual musical Happy Anniversary from Paris!
Before heading to concert halls to hear Trio Zadig LIVE July 17-23, visit iPalpitimusic YouTube, TrioZadig. com and see/hear for yourself what a phenomenal gift we bring again to our dear audiences and to the community!
JULY 17-23 2023
TRIO ZADIG
Awarded 11 international prizes, the Zadig Trio captivates audiences with its virtuosity, elegance and irresistible enthusiasm.
Friendship is at the core of the Zadig Trio’s strength and authenticity. Boris Borgolotto and Marc Girard Garcia are childhood friends who studied together at the Paris Conservatoire National de Musique and at the University of Music in Vienna. Upon their return to France, they crossed paths with Ian Barber, an American pianist from the renowned studio of Andre Watts at the University of Indiana. The chemistry between them is immediately apparent, and they decide to combine their talents and found the Zadig Trio.
The name comes from Voltaire’s eponymous character, Zadig (from the Hebrew for the ‘just’ and the Arabic for the ‘truthful’). Much like the music that the Trio performs, the story of Zadig is fantastically entertaining, while touching upon universal and uncompromising truths about the nature of reality.
In just a few years, the Trio has become very successful and won numerous awards, including the First Prize of the “Fnapec Musiques d’Ensemble” – in the footsteps of renowned ensembles like the Ysaÿe Quartet, the Ebene Quartet and the Wanderer Trio – as well as the Second Prize of the Fischoff Competition (USA). The Zadig Trio is now an “associated artist” in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. They are also residents at the Singer-Polignac Foundation in Paris and the Musical Academy of Villecroze.
The Zadig Trio has performed all over the world, from the USA to Taiwan, as well as in prestigious halls like the BOZAR, Shanghai City Theater, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Paris’ Philharmonic, Salle Cortot, and Debut with iPalpiti orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. In parallel with this demanding schedule, the Trio has met with great artists who have contributed to the development of its musical expression, most notably Alfred Brendel and Menahem Pressler.
Due to its auspicious beginning, the Zadig Trio has been invited to several broadcast shows on French (France Musique, France Inter), Belgian (Musiq’3 (RTBF) and Swiss (RTS2) public radios, as well as on Mezzo TV and Culturebox.
The Zadig Trio has already recorded three CD’s: “Something in Between”, “The Seasons”, and “Orpheus” which have received distinctions such as the four f’s (fff) of Télérama, “coup de coeur” from Classica and Figaro, and also “CD of the day” by France Musique.

Yuan Tian and Zi Zygmund Wang, two young members of iPalpiti, formed and performed as a DUO during the last iPalpiti festival, and continued to delight the audiences in Italy’ Talented Masters festival and in Philadelphia. In April, the DUO gave a recital during Music in the Mansion Festival at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, and at the Benefactors Musicale hosted by Helena & Stanley Kolodziey. The DUO was joined by a new “find” Alexander Boldachev classical/rock harpist from Switzerland. The success was resounding.
Jacopo Giacopuzzi, alumnus, and his sister Maddalena embarked on a fascinating musical tour through Japan’s beautiful landscapes and the stunning cities of the United States. Their performances captivated audiences, earning them numerous standing ovations and showcasing their exceptional talent.

While enchanting audiences, Jacopo also excelles in real estate sales in Santa Barbara, manages the iPalpiti website, and curates iPalpiti`s newsletters. His endeavors blends artistic brilliance with entrepreneurial skills, creating a successful and harmonious tapestry of achievements.
In May, DUO VIOLINO performed in New York: iPalpiti Musicales at Fisher’s home was a welcome back after three years of covid-hiatus, and a special performance for the New York Philharmonic Junior League.

LADIES’ NIGHT post-covid resurrection was a special evening for the devoted benefactors and friends.

Alumni Svetlana Smolina performed and the only man allowed, Maestro Schmieder, was enthused to entertain in a surprise performance to the delight of all.
