A Legacy of Irish Hospitality
Our History
Established in 1970, The Keadeen Hotel stands as County Kildare’s longestrunning family-owned hotel. Nestled within eight acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, the hotel features 69 elegant guest rooms and suites, conference and banqueting facilities, Saddlers Bar & Bistro, the award-winning Bay Leaf Restaurant, and a luxurious health & leisure centre.
Our name originates from the Irish word “Céidín,” meaning “flat-topped hill,” inspired by the distant Keadeen Mountain in County Wicklow. The original Keadeen House was built in 1899 and remains at the heart of our story — its chimney stacks still visible from the front lawn, and our Bridal Suite once served as the master bedroom.
The house was once home to the legendary racehorse trainer Paddy J. “Darkie” Prendergast, a pioneer who brought Irish racing to the world stage. With horses like Ragusa and Meadow Court (co-owned by Bing Crosby), he made history — and we honour his legacy in our décor, with racing memorabilia throughout the hotel and themed meeting rooms.

The transformation into a hotel began under the O’Loughlin family in 1970. Since then, The Keadeen has hosted dignitaries, celebrities, sports stars, and, most importantly, generations of returning guests who have made us a part of their lives and celebrations.
In 2024, the O’Callaghan Family became the proud custodians of The Keadeen. Already recognised for their passion and success in the hospitality sector, the O’Callaghans bring a renewed energy and vision to the hotel’s future — one rooted in tradition, elevated by innovation, and driven by a sincere commitment to Irish hospitality.
