S (SS) is an award-winning commercial and hospitality interior design firm based in Bangkok. The company offers innovative design through its talented team to accomplish the whole project from concept to completion. When commissioned to create a concept for the interiors of Millward Brown Firefly Ltd, Bangkok Office, SS had to integrate three important elements – design, performance and environment. The client’s brief required flexibility for future growth, multipurpose spaces, focus group rooms, viewing rooms, meeting rooms and phone booths. Additionally, as the new office is 16% smaller than the former one, SS had to ensure that every single space was functional. Allowing for
expansion over the years, staff numbers can be increased by up to 21% without having any adverse affect on the design base. SS adopted an ‘activity-based working concept’ for the new offices where no one is assigned a permanent seat, except for the financial and HR teams. All enclosed and open spaces are shared and many meeting pods and phone booths are provided. By taking a holistic approach, combining behaviour, energy, quality of space and design, SS has given added value beyond physical office features. The focus is on spatial quality atmosphere centralised around communication, natural daylight, informal areas and intimate space. Furthermore, 80% of the materials used are green products for sustainability and a healthy workplace.
