The new-generation SL takes the meaning of its famous initials – sporty, lightweight – literally as Mercedes-Benz has implemented an all-aluminium bodyshell in a series-production model for the first time. The SL 350 accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds, making it three tenths of a second faster than its predecessor. The SL 500 takes just 4.6 seconds – eight tenths less than the previous SL 500. The Audi Q3 Vail concept unveiled in January in Detroit is specifically for winter sports – just like the famous Colorado mountain resort which inspired its name. The concept combines striking, harderedged styling with a suitably brawny 2.5-litre TFSI petrol engine. Limited to just 333 worldwide, the new Audi A1 quattro is the first production A1 to offer the all-wheeldrive system. It will also raise the tempo thanks to a turbocharged and directly injected 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine enabling 0 to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph.
