Music in the Podium is an iconic Lake Macquarie event that runs from the first week in November until the last week of March each year. This season, Music in the Podium returns on Friday, 3 November 2023 and concludes on Friday, 22 March 2024. Returning to the Warners Bay Foreshore for its 26th year, this season has been made possible through the generous support of sponsors. Once again, Lake Macquarie City Council is the major sponsor, and this season sees a new local sponsor - Taylor Hedley Property, who has come on board as a silver sponsor alongside long-standing local businesses Terry White Chemmart Warners Bay and Evolution Business and Personal Advisers as Bronze sponsors. Another great lineup of popular local musicians will entertain the family from 6pm to 9pm each Friday evening. Music in the Podium is the perfect setting to unwind on a 14
Friday evening, watch the sunset across the lake and catch up with friends. Bring a chair or a blanket, a picnic basket or enjoy some takeaway food from one of the onsite food trucks or something from one of the Warners Bay restaurants and Cafes. A monthly program can be found in each issue of intouch Magazine, or head to the Music in the Podium Facebook and Instagram pages for a complete program and information about pending weather cancellations. Music in the Podium is a free, family-friendly event made possible by valuable sponsors and the Warners Bay Business Network. All nights are weather permitting, there is a one-week break over Christmas and New Year, and will not be operating on Australia Day. The season runs for 19 weeks in total. City of Newcastle (CN) has partnered with the Royal Australian Airforce (RAAF) to host this one-off event on Saturday 18 November, with an RAAF aircraft flying display from 10am to 12.30pm and again from 1.30pm to 4pm. For the best view in town, you need to grab a ticket to the 18 + Premium Viewing area at Fort Scratchley. Tickets are on sale now for a VIP experience with uninterrupted views of the flying displays from Newcastle’s most spectacular vantage point. Ticketholders will be treated to an unobstructed panorama of the aerial spectacle for both the morning and afternoon flying displays with gates opening at 9am. For the ultimate indulgence, add an Earp Distilling Co. gourmet picnic hamper and drink package at the only licensed viewing area. Formation and aerial displays will wow the crowds with heritage and vintage aircraft like the Harvard, Winjeel, Spitfire, Mustang, and Canberra, in addition to flypasts from F/A-18F, EF/A-18G Super Hornet and the Growler. For those seeking a familyfriendly day out, crowds of spectators are set to line Newcastle Harbour at the free
community event, hosted by City of Newcastle. The free viewing areas at Nobbys Beach, Foreshore Park, and Stockton will feature family-friendly activities, such as roving entertainment, kids rides, and face painters to create a festival atmosphere. The Newcastle viewing areas will also feature static RAAF displays, including a military vehicle display, the Australian Army Band, Australian Air Force Cadets information, 92 WG Airborne Electronic Analyst (AEA) display, and a 44 WG Transportable Air Operations Tower, where you can speak to RAAF Air Traffic Controllers and Technicians and experience a panoramic view of what the tower looks like. At both Newcastle and Stockton viewing areas, food trucks will offer a range of food, beverage, and entertainment options. A Park and Ride facility will operate from McDonald Jones Stadium with parking available at Stockton located within an easy walk to prime vantage points.
