LET’S ZOOM IN ON STRENGTHENING SOCIAL CONNECTIONS!

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC),“Social connectedness influences our minds, bodies and behaviors - all of which influence our health and life expectancy Research shows that social connectedness can lead to longer life, better health and improved

well-being.“

While we may understand this to be true, it can be challenging to find new ways to improve our social connections With this in mind, we have gathered together some suggestions for social outlets available on campus and in the community:

employee activities program spring 2024 !

Persons of Trust

Appointed in June 2023, our two Persons of Trust at ISB are Michelle and Marie-France. We thought it would be great to spotlight these valuable members of our community, as well as provide a reminder on how they can help!

Michelle Brown

Michelle has been a valued member of ISB since 2005, coordinating the CAS programme for students, as well as Personal Learning, Service Learning and the Student Leadership Team

“Outside of school I enjoy traveling, cooking and spending time with my friends and family I have recently completed a postgraduate diploma in Holistic Care, Guidance and Student Support with the University of Aberdeen and am now looking forward to having more free time.”

- Congrats, Michelle!

Marie-France Friedrich

Our in-house rock star and Head Nurse, MarieFrance, is specialised in paediatric and neonatal care Marie-France started working at the ISB in 2021 after a 20 year career as clinical nurse Marie-France loves music (and everything related to music).

“In my spare time I enjoy long walks with my dog and spend time with my friends and family. I like to believe I'm Irish and I love to travel too! and for those who are wondering who's car this is in the picture, well it's one of Elvis' of course!”

What is the role of the Persons of Trust?

A contact point for employees who wish to discuss individual or collective problems of a psychosocial nature in a confidential manner They are there to listen to you and try to help identify solutions to the issues you bring

The process begins with an individual conversation and an explanation of the options available. Next steps may include further conversations, a third person intervention, a mediation conversation or guidance in obtaining external support.

The Persons of Trust are officially trained by Mensura, they are independent, neutral and do not report to ISB in their role as Persons of Trust

During term time you are able to contact either Marie-France or Michelle and they will schedule an appointment with you, within 5 working days. They can also provide options for support outside of term-time.

You can find more information on internal and external services available on the Employee Portal
