MESSAGE FROM DAVID
Welcome to the Semester 2 2024 Primary Cocurricular Program! I am so excited to share with you the range of activities we have on offer here at IGS.
The Primary Co-curricular Program aims to provide an holistic educational experience for our students, fostering their intellectual, physical, and creative development. From sports and arts to various skill-building activities, we seek to offer a diverse range of opportunities for our students to explore and excel beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Thank you to all families who spent time completing the recent survey about the Program. We have read your feedback and made some changes to better enhance our offerings and provide further opportunities for our Primary children. One change we are implementing next semester is the start of the Program being on the first day of the school term. This is to better accommodate our families' schedules.
Some additional changes include more physical activity clubs in the afternoon and the inclusion of additional days for our more popular clubs to increase the number of
participating children. We will also be making use of Wentworth Park on an afternoon with a multi-sports games club to provide a fun and engaging way for children to get moving.
All of our Clubs continue to be facilitated by a range of talented and inspiring coaches and teachers. Many are facilitated by external providers who are experts in their chosen field. Other activities are run by IGS teachers and educators who have a passion for a particular area of interest which they love to share with children.
I encourage you to sit down with your child and carefully peruse the range of activities on offer.
DAVID ENGELBERT Coordinator of Primary Co-curricular Programs

MATHS TUTORING
Polymath Tutoring is a specialised maths tutoring service for Grades 1 - 6, helping with all aspects of mathematics and ensuring that maths foundations are in place from primary school.
It is an individual service within a small group environment. Classes are of mixed grade levels as students are working at their own pace, on their own program, textbooks and material.
We provide student support at any level. We work to build solid fundamentals, cover the curriculum extensively, clear up confusion, as well as extend children if needed. Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills Support (OC and Selective) are also available, as well as NAPLAN support. Run by Elly, Bachelor of Advanced Science (Mathematics) with High Distinction 1st Class Honours in Statistics, UNSW. Make up lessons are available through Polymath Tutoring.
Facilitated by the local Sydney Visual Arts Academy, students will be taught fundamental art skills from international award-winning animation film makers and be guided through the process of imaginative storytelling through pictures.
Sydney Visual Arts Academy teachers will use their original illustrations, cartoons, portraits, anime and landscape to teach foundational drawing and painting skills including; line, shape, perspective, proportion, composition, lighting and shading. Students’ creativity will be ignited and artistic skills developed in these fun art classes, while receiving individualised instruction each week.
