There is very little aircraft noise on the Butzenbüel. “This hill would be worthless if it wasn’t for Zurich Airport and its attractiveness”, says Kern. “If we are to achieve something special with ‘The Circle’, it is exactly this unique combination we need.” The innovative “The Circle” building project will be located at the foot of the hill on the Butzenbüel orbital road. According to Thomas Kern, “The Circle” will be a unique address at Switzerland’s gateway to the world. He adds that it is also a project of great strategic importance for the Flughafen Zurich AG company itself. When passenger growth reaches its limits in no more than ten years’ time, “The Circle” will be a new important step in the growth of the whole company. “The possibilities in the business and aviation world are endless. We must, however, grow and generate more value.” Thomas Kern continually emphasises the significance of combining the existing commercial and airport activity with the service function of “The Circle”. “We will be creating added quality to the complete airport package.” Kern sees the key to success as lying in the marketing strategy, particularly for the 85,000 square metres of rental office space. “SPG Intercity combines regional ties, Swiss roots and an international network of relationships. That is exactly what we need here.”
