OUR AWARDS
We are very proud to have been recognised as a ‘Sunday Times
Top 100 Small Company to Work For’ for nine years. This award recognises how we value and engage all employees. It also acknowledges our commitment to local and national community projects, as well as environmental policies.

In 2018, we were officially named as a ‘Great Place to Work’ – just one of 66 organisations recognised by the prestigious awards out of hundreds of entrants. Great Place to Work believe a successful company is built through day-to-day relationships with employees who trust the people they work with, have pride in what they do and enjoy the company of people they work alongside – values we pride ourselves on.
These achievements are the latest in a long line of awards. We have been placed in 20th position in the 75 Best Companies to Work for in the Midlands, been ranked number one in the Mid Market 300, were named as a Low-Risk Operator by the DVSA, were presented with the coveted RoSPA Gold Medal Award and completed the transition to the new ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 accreditations, one of the first companies to do so.

OUR VALUES WORK HARD
Working hard means more than simply giving additional effort - it represents attitude and desire. It reflects a “can do” mentality, a willingness to roll up your sleeves, solve problems and a need to get the job done right. Hard workers set standards and examples for others. They build team spirit, exhibit passion and willingness and are never satisfied. They know that nothing worthwhile is easy.
Here are some examples of how our employees demonstrate hard work:

• Taking pride in their personal appearance and in the work they produce

At Instarmac we believe in the dignity of hard work and the results that it produces. We believe that anything is possible for those who do more than is expected. We also know the value of having fun in the workplace, makes successes more meaningful.
• Are always on time and do not clock watch
• Present solutions rather than problems
• Care about the work they do
SUCCESS COMES DOWN TO HAVING STRONG WORK ETHICS AND A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
HAVE FUN
A fun atmosphere encourages energetic, enthusiastic, employees who want to come to work each day to enjoy each other’s company. We sponsor employee engagement events and activities that support this ethos.

Together, working hard and having fun opens doors to achievement, success and fulfilment. Working hard and having fun show our potential, our character and our passion. They are proof that we care about what we do and who we are.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Instarmac provides a wealth of opportunities and possibilities through which anyone can make a difference every day. Whether it’s one person or one team, everyone has the capacity to create positive and lasting change.
There are countless examples of how our employees can make a difference in the workplace, here are just some:

WHAT OUR BENEFITS MEAN TO US
People here are extremely friendly and helpful. The benefits are fantastic and offered to all. I am a working Mum and it’s important I have the right work/home life balance and the use of 3 holiday homes has meant I have been able to enjoy quality time with my family without worrying about the costs.
They help financially should you get into difficulty. Their world food and health days make you feel looked after.
Knowing that both myself and my family have private medical cover really gives you peace of mind. It is so reassuring knowing you can be seen and treated quickly.
The holiday homes that we have access to are amazing. I have been to both Tenerife and Padstow and having the flights paid for is amazing.
Winning a Living the Dream experience at Instarmac gave my daughter and I the opportunity to have a memorable few days in Edinburgh – a experience we will never forget.
Having received financial help through EBT, I was able to focus on my rehabilitation which took away money worries for me and my family. I don’t think I would have got the same support anywhere else.
WHAT MAKES INSTARMAC A GREAT PLACE TO WORK?
When we asked the question, “what makes Instarmac a great place to work”, this is what our employees said…
Consideration for the workforce and in making the company a better place to work.
Holiday homes and travel contribution. Free fruit, drinks and biscuits. Benefits such as Denplan, private healthcare, enhanced pension contribution and, PPRP. Monthly foodie events, daily Christmas draws, ticket giveaway to concerts, Make a Difference vouchers, open door policy for Senior Management and Directors and team nights out.
Nice to be made to feel important by all the Directors regardless of our position in the workplace. Everyone plays a huge part in the Company’s success and we are thanked for doing so.
Unlike anywhere I have worked before. The Company believe strongly in its values, everyone is expected to work hard, have fun and make a difference. All of the management team are approachable and have an ‘open door’ policy and everyone has time for each other.
You are given encouragement and empowerment to do your job. People are open and honest and work together.
There is an un-ending desire to always be better, both in an individual’s development and the services we provide to our customers.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Our Tamworth site has adopted intelligent lighting to reduce electricity usage as well as recycling waste water. We have solar panels to generate heat to warm our water, continue to recycle more material than ever before and are proud to be a zero waste to landfill site. We have worked hard to reduce our carbon footprint by implementing the latest manufacturing technologies and collecting plastic containers from customers to recycle.
We are committed to making a positive and lasting contribution to the local community. We take a proactive and committed approach to increasing the representation of local people in our workforce and currently, 58% of employees live within a 5 mile radius, and 87% within a 15 mile radius.
We are passionate about helping young people develop their skills and finding the right career for them and this is achieved through our Graduate and Apprentice Schemes.
Giving back has always been important to Instarmac. This help can be provided in a number of ways, for example through our campaign
to support our corporate charity ‘We Are All Making a Difference’ - a member of our team even ran the London Marathon to raise money. We are keen to support local schools, colleges and hospitals, refuge centres and food banks. We have also supplied building materials to local church and community projects.

ROAD TO RECRUITMENT
Our recruitment process can have a number of stages depending on which role you have applied for. This section will walk you through our recruitment process and tell you how we structure our interviews so you know what to expect.
Dress Code
The dress code at Instarmac is smart business wear – you should bear this in mind when dressing for your interview. Gentlemen are expected to wear a tie.
PParking
We provide parking at Instarmac. To ensure the car park runs as safely and efficiently as possible, we request that you reverse park your car. Please use visitor spaces.
No Smoking Site
Please be aware that Instarmac is a strictly no-smoking site and smoking is not permitted anywhere on site. This includes sitting in your car in the car park.
Pass Go: First Interview
If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an interview with the Recruiting Manager. This will help us get to know you a little better and find out more about your skills and experience. We will also discuss your suitability for the role and find out why you would like to join us at Instarmac. This is a good opportunity for you to ask questions about the role and the business.
Next Step: Panel Interview
If you are successful, you will be back for a panel interview usually with the Recruiting Manager, HR and a Director. This interview will follow a similar format as your first interview, however you may find this interview is more technical and focuses upon your relevant work experience and skills. As part of this step, you may be asked to undertake a technical assessment or prepare a presentation on a topic related to the role applied for.
Diversion
Depending on the role you have applied for, you may be invited back for a third and final stage. This could be anything from an hour to a whole day. If there are a number of positions available for the same role, the face to face interview may be replaced with a telephone interview or an assessment centre. As part of the assessment centre, you may be asked to participate in role play and group exercises and deliver a presentation.

CAREER PROGRESSION
We understand that employees want to develop their skills and understand their next career move.
Our Career Matrix shows all available career paths and allows employees to develop by making the knowledge, skills, experience and job requirements for each position within the company transparent.
With this information, dialogue can be opened for employees to speak with their manager and plan for future opportunities within the group.
Instarmac supports employees in developing and pursuing a career path by providing access to these opportunities and information.
• Role and Person Profiles – outlining required competencies
• Access to employees already doing the job
• Role appreciation
• Coaching and/or mentoring
• Promotions, transfers or lateral moves
• Formal succession planning
With access to these processes and systems most employees should have the opportunity to pursue a career path, subject to availability.
