All our beliefs, experiences and programming are stored here and have a powerful affect on how we live our lives. The way we feel depends on whether our thoughts are positive and healthy or negative and toxic. Our thoughts are governed by our belief system, programming, personality type, life experiences and other contributory factors. They determine whether we feel positive, happy and relaxed or stressed, frustrated and fed up.

With Christmas now long forgotten, it is always a good time to reflect upon those New Year Resolutions you made and see how well you are doing sticking to them. So many people have good intentions to give up smoking, drink less alcohol, eat healthily, lose weight, exercise and get fit.... so why do even the most strong willed of us so frequently end up giving in and failing so early on. Well that is what I am going to talk about today because the secret to you maximising your performance, wellbeing and success is your mindset. When you change your mind, you really do change your life and achieve your goals easily. The subconscious mind is the control room of everything. Nothing happens unless your subconscious mind is programmed correctly. So that explains why you can want to do something so badly and yet when you try, you fail miserably time after time. The frustrating thing is that the more your conscious mind comes up with ways to help you, the more your subconscious mind resists regardless of whether the changes you are seeking to make are actually for your benefit. No-one could disagree that being fitter, healthier and happier isn’t better for us. But you see the subconscious mind isn’t logical. It will not assess whether something you have learnt is good or bad, right or wrong. It will simply protect that programming regardless because any programme that is accepted into the subconscious mind is considered to be for your benefit and therefore essential to your survival – so it must be protected no matter what.

The New Year can be a time when we are reminded that our life isn’t exactly as we would like it to be. It is a time when people tend to reflect upon what they have achieved and what they would still like to achieve in the future. Some feel negative, frustrated and overwhelmed by life whilst others are ready for the next challenge and are keen to set new goals whilst continuing to work towards existing ones. One thing is for sure, any stress creates an imbalance in the mind and body and affects our overall health, wellbeing, happiness and success. Work stress, career instability, financial concerns, family pressures, relationship difficulties, separation and divorce, loss and bereavement, difficult work/life balance are all factors which can take a considerable toll on our health and weaken our immune system. In fact, according to the World Health Organisation, stress is the number one illness and disease of the 21st Century. Stress is literally the barrier between what we are and what we can be. It damages your mind and body often without you even realising!
