Inspira is dedicated to giving back to the South Jersey community in a myriad of ways through our Community Impact programs, from helping residents get screened for health conditions to providing meals to those experiencing food insecurity and more.

Community Health Needs Assessment

In 2022, Inspira conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to determine the issues affecting the health of our community. Moving forward, we will implement strategies consistent with the CHNA results to address these needs and improve the health outcomes and overall well-being of those living in our region. Needs determined by this year’s CHNA include:

• COVID-19

• Mental and Behavioral Health

• Accessibility, Availability and Affordability of Care

• Accessibility to Children’s Health Care

• Food and Diet

Food Farmacy+

Since its inception in 2020, the Food Farmacy has expanded to help even more residents of South Jersey who are facing food insecurity. This year, we addressed one of the barriers to access healthy food—lack of transportation—by partnering with DoorDash to provide free delivery to Inspira patients. Our Food Farmacy+ locations also now carry fresh produce, dairy, eggs, frozen meats, personal hygiene items and baby items including diapers and baby shampoo.

NARCAN Distribution

This lifesaving drug can reverse the effects of opioid overdose and is typically carried by first responders. Inspira has worked to distribute NARCAN throughout the South Jersey community to use in emergency situations. We distributed 850 doses in 2022.

Community Health Worker Program

At Inspira, our Community Health Worker (CHW) program helps members of our community address their social determinants of health and reduce their barriers to care. In 2022, the CHW program helped 128 patients overcome barriers to health such as follow-up care, housing expenses, access to healthy food, counseling services and more.

Mobile Unit

This year, Inspira began to leverage our mobile health unit for community outreach and screenings. Sports Medicine conducted 41 preventive cardiac screenings over five events throughout South Jersey in 2022 and plans to expand this program in 2023 are underway.

Deterra Distribution

Deterra is a method for safe at-home medication disposal that can reduce environmental impacts and prevent drug addiction by deactivating unused prescription drugs. Inspira distributed over 4,000 pouches in 2022.
