Inova Cares Clinics 2023 Donor Impact Update Team members at the Inova Cares Clinic for Women and Children are increasing their focus on the Social Drivers of Health with the addition of a patient resource board, an on-site food pantry, screenings in Epic, and partnering with community programs. Patient Resource Board: Offers materials in Spanish and English, utilizes pictures and graphics for low-literacy patients, and features a variety of resources including SNAP information, and housing, transportation and food insecurity connections. Food Pantry: After screening patients, clinic staff give bags of nonperishable groceries to patients who have very little food at home. Patients also receive a referral to an area food pantry for ongoing access to food. Since the pantry started in October 2020, it has served more than 150 patients and approximately 650 household members.
"Instead of trying to solve these problems ourselves, we can connect patients with community health programs that already exist. We are trying to create a healthier whole community." Dr. Henna Qureshi, Inova Cares Clinic for Women and Children
