Mit einer großen Ladung Style startet Innsbruck ins Festival. Beim Whip-Off Contest lässt keine Stoppuhr die Nerven flattern, sondern der Luftstand der Fahrer den Puls nach oben schnellen. Bei einem einzigen Sprung geht es um den Trick, den jeder Biker beherrschen möchte: den Whip. Dabei wird das Bike möglichst quer zur Fahrtrichtung gestellt. In den extremsten Ausführungen überholt kurzzeitig das Hinterrad den Fahrer. Nur Zentimeter segeln die Athleten am lautstarken Publikum vobei, das sie zu immer krasseren Akrobatik-Einlagen antreibt. Spektakuläre Themenverfehlungen wie Supermans und Backflips sind deshalb sicher. Im Jam SessionFormat können die Fahrer innerhalb einer Stunde beliebig viele Versuche starten. Über die allerschönsten Whips entscheidet die Jury.
Innsbruck is heading into the Crankworx festival with a huge portion of style. With no ticking clock to get nerves jangling, the Alpine Whip-Off Championships presented by Spank is all about massive airtime. At this event everything comes down to one jump to show off the trick that every biker wants to have in his skill set: the whip. The goal is to get the bike as sideways as you can. In the most extreme form, the back wheel is whipped all the way past the front of the bike as the rider flies through the sky just a few centimeters from the crowd. Despite the name of the contest, tricks are likely to include some off topic acrobatics like supermans and backflips. Der Whip-Off findet als Auftakt der Festival-Woche beim Speichersee, direkt oberhalb der Muttereralm im Bikepark Innsbruck statt und ist mit der Muttereralmbahn leicht erreichbar. Das Panorama auf Stadt und Nordkette dient als eindrucksvolle Kulisse.
The whip contest will kick off the festival next to the reservoire at Muttereralm at the top of the Bikepark Innsbruck. The location which can easily be reached using the Muttereralmbahn gondola, offers spectacular views of Innsbruck and the Nordkette mountains.
