ULI – the Urban Land Institute is a 501 © (3) nonprofit research and education organization supported by its members. Founded in 1936, the institute now has more than 40,000 members worldwide representing the entire spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines, working in private enterprise and public service. As the preeminent, multidisciplinary real estate forum, ULI facilitates the open exchange of ideas, information and experience among local, national and international industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places. The mission of the Urban Land Institute is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. Members say the ULI is a trusted idea place where leaders come to grow professionally and personally through sharing, mentoring, and problem solving. Where We Are

Most members participate in district councils active in some 40 U.S. areas, in 14 countries in Europe and one District Council cover in the Middle East. District Councils offer a variety of learning, networking and community outreach opportunities closer to home. ULI is headquartered in Washington, D.C., with offices in Hong Kong, London and Los Angeles. More than 100 professional staff and a network of district councils serve our members in some 50 cities worldwide.

What We Do

ULI initiates research that anticipates emerging land use trends and issues, proposing creative solutions based on that research. ULI’s practice program is interdisciplinar y and practical, focusing on trends and the basics of many different parts of the industr y: } Resort and residential } Retail and destination development } Office and industrial development } Transportation and parking } Real Estate finance and capital markets ULI documents best practice and publishes books to impart cumulative knowledge to help the development community continuously improve its performance.

At the heart of the ULI experience is an open exchange o ideas, networking opportunities, and the ability to work with the leaders of the land use industry: developers builders, engineers, attorneys, planners, investors, financial advisors, academics, architects and public officials. Some 2,000 members are the CEOs leading advisers, and policy-makers in the United States. Another 2,000 members are the leading owners, investors, and advisers in Europe,

District Councils

District Councils are ULI at the local level. Organized in 52 North American communities, one in Mexico, and 13 European communities serving more than 30,000 of its more than 41,000 members.

ULI’s Education Program

ULI’s education program is a multifaceted endeavor, designed to improve the level of expertise of preprofessional and professional land use and development practitioners. Guided by the ULI Policy and Practice Committee, which is composed of leaders in the development field, the program offers professional development seminars, real estate trends conferences, real estate development workshops, and the Real Estate School, gives assistance in the formulation of real estate curricula and materials for professional education; and provides other educational programs for the lay public.

ULI Mexico

ULI Mexico members are: developers, investors, builders, architecture firms, designers, real estate brokers, banking, and financial advisors, consultants, lawyers, students, etc. ULI Mexico has several councils around the world who meet to discuss specific topics related to the local real estate market, contributing ideas to enrich the profession. Participating in ULI Mexico, members receive a unique opportunity to learn, teach, make contacts and grow personally and professionally in a collegial environment, ULI is a meeting place for the most brilliant minds in the Real Estate Industry globally. Only full members participate on the Executive Committee of the ULI Mexico District Council and they are reappointed every year.
