GOVERNOR'S FAREWELL GOVERNOR'S FAREWELL

Louis Gallegos: 2022-2023

It has been my honor and privilege to serve as your Governor for the past year. Throughout my term, I have seen the dedication, passion, and enthusiasm of Key Club members in Indiana. Your commitment to service and making a difference in your communities is truly inspiring.

During my time as Governor, I have worked closely with the Indiana District Board for Key Club to promote accountability and transparency in our organization. We have made great strides in improving communication, increasing membership, and strengthening the bonds between clubs across the state. I am confident that these efforts will continue to bear fruit in the years to come.

One of my proudest accomplishments as Governor has been supporting the Trevor Project as my Governor's Project. The Trevor Project is an organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth. Through our collective efforts, we have raised awareness about the importance of mental health and supported a cause that is near and dear to many of our hearts.

As I pass the gavel to the next Governor, I am confident that bright things are ahead for Key Club in Indiana. Our organization is made up of dedicated, passionate individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the world. I encourage you to continue serving your communities, supporting each other, and striving for excellence in all you do.

Thank you for the privilege of serving as your Governor. I will always cherish the memories and experiences I have gained through this journey. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Yours in service, Louis Gallegos (He/They)

GOVERNOR'S GREETING GOVERNOR'S GREETING

Paige Hein: 2023-2024

My name is Paige Hein, I’m 15, and I am a sophomore at Washington Township High School. I thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Indiana District board this past year and am elated to serve you all again, this time as District Governor. Your passion for service and leadership has inspired me to rise to the challenge of this position and devote myself to the success of the Indiana District.

My journey with the Kiwanis family started in my 6th grade year, when I joined my school’s Builder’s Club. My journey with service started way before though, as I became an active member and officer of 4-H and even participated in service projects as a Girl Scout. Every year I ran for a leadership role in Builder’s Club and every year I lost. But my teachers saw my potential, and my school’s Key Club advisor Mrs. Rea encouraged me to become a Key Club officer. So, as a freshman, I became Vice President. That’s when I attended my first Key Leader event and realized Key Club is where I belong. I am filled with gratitude for Mrs. Rea for pushing me to become more involved, because without her I never would have come to district events and ran for Duneland Division Lt Governor. Then, after attending the Key Club International Convention in 2022, I knew running for Governor was my dream. Many hours of stress, preparation, doubt, and writing speeches later, I still can’t believe that my dream came true.

Leading a thriving Key Club district, a key contributor to Key Club International, will not be easy. But on behalf of the entire 2023-2024 Indiana District Board, we are ready to work hard to ensure the prosperity of the district this service year. Caring truly is our way of life.

I am honored that the Indiana District of Key Club entrusted me to serve in this prestigious position, and greatly look forward to the year ahead. Thank you all again for being devoted leaders to your home, school, and community. I promise to always serve with your best interest at heart.

Yours in service and friendship,

DLC RECAP DLC RECAP

At DLC 2023, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Indianapolis, Key Clubbers from all over the state came together to celebrate the conclusion of their year of service. The weekend was filled with various activities that allowed for everyone to mingle with others from different schools and bond over their shared love of service.

Friday night, after everyone arrived and ate dinner, caucusing was held. Here, LtGs had to run for their position in front of their division. Members had the chance to ask questions. For executive positions, candidates ran in front of the whole convention and answered questions they were asked by the audience.

Saturday, everyone participated in various workshops and service projects, where they had even more chances to get to know new people. Some of the workshops offered were ICON info, officer info, inclusive language, digital accessibility, and many more! After workshops and service projects were concluded, everyone ate dinner as awards were given, and then attended House of Delegates. Here, executive candidates ran in front of those who will be voting for them and had to answer a fishbowl question. On Sunday, the 2022-2023 INDB officially retired and handed off their pins to their successors. The weekend was very busy, but it was very fun and productive.
