The District Initiatives Committee has been working on a Pen Pal program that we hope to integrate into a majority of the clubs across Indiana. In short, a Pen Pal is a program that allows people, Key Clubbers in this instance, to create a bond with someone they have possibly never met through the form of a letter.
The main point of this idea is to allow Key Clubbers from all across the state to form a connection with one another by sending letters to each other, which would allow those who participate to learn about other people's experiences within Key Club and just learn about the other person ' s lifestyle in general. Once you fill out the form you will be contacted eventually with further instructions on how to fully start the process! We hope you all are interested and if you have any questions please email wabashvalleyltg.kci@gmail.com. Thank you!

DCM took place on May 18th. It featured lots of fun, learning, and, of course, service! Key Clubbers created appreciation cards for cafeteria workers in their local schools. Overall, it was an excited time for everyone involved.
The Arrowhead Division's first DCM was a great success! We had many special guests from other LtGs to even the District's Governor Paige. We played a games and did fun icebreakers to get to know each other, but the best part was being able to meet everyone and hear about them! Overall I had so much fun and I hope to see more people at my future DCMs.
If you have not been able to attend your division's DCMs, please try to attend the next one. These meetings are crucial to maintain good communication throughout the division, and it's one of the main ways to get to know each other.

Officer training is a vital event that all club officers are highly encouraged to attend. This event is a way for Lieutenant Governors to be able to meet the officers in their division, as well as train them. This training will look like Lieutenant Governors giving presentations about specific roles and responsibilities for the officers positions ranging from Club President, all the way down to Club Webmaster. So to become more familiar in your officer positions to better serve your club, please be sure to attend your respective Lieutenant Governor's Officer Training on September 16th! If you have any questions or concerns, please be sure to contact your Lieutenant Governor (contact info linked HERE).

This year, the Key Club International Convention was held in Anaheim, California! Indiana Key Clubbers had the opportunity to meet individuals from other districts while attending fun workshops, getting to hear from some of the ICONic keynote speakers, and visiting the surrounding area through the district tour. Indiana representatives also had the honor of running for international office, expanding their leadership skills through the Global Leadership Certificate Masterclass, and voting on important amendments during the House of Delegates. Everyone leaving this year ’ s inspiring convention walks away with new and continued passion to serve for their world through Key Club’s efforts.

Hobart High School Key Club President Conner Niemann attended ICON this year. This is what he had to say about his experience!
My name is Conner Niemann, President of the Hobart High School Key Club, and I recently had the privilege of traveling to Anaheim for this year ’ s convention. Having gone to convention in the past, I had a lot of excitement for this year ’ s offerings. My expectations were blown out of the water as I ultimately ended up having a thrilling time. I was not only able to create expansive relationships with others I haven’t met from the Indiana District, but I was also able to see members from last year as well, and make new friends on top of it all. Although we traveled primarily for the convention, visiting Disney on the 4th of July as part of our district tour is a memory that I will never forget; especially seeing the fireworks!
When it comes to the convention, this year ’ s keynote speakers were on-point!
From Leah Marlene giving us a private concert, to Adam Klein elaborating on his ideals of connection from a Survivor perspective, and Sarah Culberson describing her unrelenting passion who she truly is, I walked away with many lessons on how to go on my own self-discovery journey whilst traveling on the Key Club pathway. When attending the workshops, I was particularly looking forward to bringing new ideas back to my home club; specifically, how to implement more of the global partners on a local level. I strongly believe that I walked away with many valuable strategies I will be implementing in both my leadership skills and personal capabilities.
I strongly urge that anyone on the fence about attending ICON next year in Atlanta to take a step outside of their comfort zone and put forth their best effort to make the journey and try it out. Being able to visualize and represent Key Club on the international stage is one of the most rewarding experiences there is to offer. We hope to see you at ICON 2024 in Atlanta, GA, from July 10-14th!
