Thanks for reading!

PAIGE HEIN

DISTRICT GOVERNOR Hi Indiana Key Clubbers! First of all, I would like to say thank you for all your hard work serving your home, school, and community so far this school year. As we transition from Fall to Winter, it's the perfect time to reflect on what we are grateful for and share our appreciation with others. I am honored to be serving you as District Governor and am honored to serve alongside you as a Key Clubber. These past few weeks I took a fall break trip to California, visited colleges, attended Key Leader, and facilitated the INDB's November Board Meeting. It has been action-packed and full of amazing memories, especially Key Leader. Every year Key Leader never fails to empower me to be the best servant leader I can be for myself and for all of us. I also loved meeting many of you there and am excited to see our Indiana District Key Clubbers again at DLC in March! In addition to attending events and preparing for a board meeting and a new quarter, I have been diligently working on promoting the benefits of donating to my Governor's Project for environmental sustainability. More info on that later in this edition of Key New magazine!

4

I have also continued to help the 5 district committees run smoothly, post on my Governor's Instagram @ingovernor.kci, and host monthly office hours on the first Monday of every month at 7pm CST/8pm EST (link HERE), where any and all Key Clubbers are welcome to attend. As we approach the end of the service year, don't hesitate to attend office hours, reach out on IG, or email me at ingovernor.kci@gmail.com if you have questions, especially about running for higher office! If you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior, I can't recommend enough that you consider the possibility of running for a higher leadership position in Key Club, and if you are a senior, I thank you for being part of Key Club even when the stress of planning out life after high school is high. Thank you for reading my update, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the magazine

KENDALL LEMON

SECRETARYTREASURER Hey Key Clubbers! I'm at the point where school work has died down for me a bit, and this is because I finished all of my college applications! Since the last time you heard from me, I got my first acceptance letter and hopefully many more to come! But Key Club never stops! With the winter months creeping up, the INDB and Events & Planning committee are all working together to prepare for DLC. It's so crazy how much time has flown by! I have been working hard with taking meeting minutes during board meetings and exec/admin meetings, keeping the budget on track, and working with our amazing LTGS to make sure they are all doing good as I update the incentive chart! As mentioned in Ella's last edition of Key News, we brought back club reports, and I have been making monthly reports for each club to fill out.

5

On top of that, I also create monthly LTG reports, so we truly know how they're doing and if they have feedback or help. As you are reading this, INDB had yet another successful meeting as we just held our November Board meeting this past weekend! With the year coming to an end and only a few short of my term, it is important to prepare for getting a successor, so I have been drafting my secretary-treasurer transition report. I'm so excited as we get closer to DLC and I can see how the new election process will go this year! I hope to see you all there in Indy in February for DLC! I will surely be dressed up in fairytale attire!

ELLA FREIMUTH

BULLETIN EDITOR Hello Indiana Key Clubbers! I hope you all have settled in well to the new school year. This chilly weather is getting me very excited for the holidays! Since the last Key News, I have been focusing heavily on getting my college applications submitted and applying for scholarships! Enough about me, though; let’s talk Key Club! Since you last heard from me, I have been planning this magazine, reviewing LtG newsletters, and creating graphics when needed. I also attended Fall Rally at the Indianapolis Zoo, which was a huge success! It was a very fun time getting to see and meet everyone who attended. Key Leader is always a blast, and truly reminds me why I joined Key Club. At Key Leader, I was able to meet so many of you, which was awesome!

6

I hope to see everyone at DLC again! March 1st is coming up, and as you know, that is the start of DLC! If you are thinking of running for higher office, please read through this magazine, as there is a lot of useful information regarding runnning at DLC. Please reach out to me, Kendall, Paige, Samantha, or your LtG if you have any questions. Being on the INDB is such a wonderful experience, and I recommend thinking about running if you are interested!

SAMANTHA BUNAG

DISTRICT WEBMASTER Hello, Key Clubbers! So much has happened since the last edition of Key News! Major events like Fally Rally, Key Leader, and our district November board meeting! So much fun and Key Club has been jam-packed in the last two months! Meeting new Key Clubbers at the Fall Rally Rally and Key Leader was a blast! I couldn't remember the last time I went to the zoo! Key Leader never fails to remind me why I do Key Club and get so involved, servant leadership is a primary skill to have as a Key Clubber. Ever since the last Key News Issue, I have been keeping up with posting on the District Instagram and the INDB (Indiana District Board) has started TikTok Takeovers on the district TikTok page!

7

I have also done a lot of uploading on YouTube with our new LTG Table Talk Series being run by the Calumet Division LTG, Andrew Julian, as well as posting resources for Paige's Governors Project and Trick or Treat for UNICEF. After all of these district events, I had a lot of work to do on the district website. I can't believe that the DLC is so close!

SERVICE

Is your club looking for new and exciting service project ideas? Well, you should check out the Service Project Directory, found on the Indiana District Website! It has tons of amazing ideas, ranging from easy to hard. The Service Committee has been working super hard to keep this amazing resource updated with new ideas. Some of our recent additions include Dodgeball Fundraisers, Plastic Bag Blankets, and Crocheting We have also come up with

There are easy ideas, such as making dog toys from used T-shirts, and hard ideas, like an entirely thrifted Fashion Show.

The other project that the Service Committee completed this quarter was creating an “Elections Processes” presentation, for any underclassmen who may be interested in running for their division's Lieutenant Governor position. This presentation explains everything from the requirements for running, to the House of Delegates at DLC, and even gives tips on how to give a captivating speech. We all really recommend checking this presentation out! Overall, the Service Committee has been

DISTRICT INITIATIVES The District Initiative Committee has been busy this past month working on many projects. Our previous project, the pen pal program, has come to completion! Perhaps you have a pen pal yourself! Our newest venture has been the DART scholarship program. We are proud to say we selected a winner for our Key Leader Scholarship and will have applications open for DLC. We wish to see you there! The DART program was the perfect way to bring one of Key Club's core values, inclusivity, to our district. Kudos to my committee for that! As mentioned, we are working hard on our District Store and have a Squarespace website for orders. Soon, you'll be able to order and have your merch shipped to your door! We look forward to bringing you new things from DI.

MEMBER DEVELOPMENT The Member Development Committee has been trying to accomplish many things before the end of the Key Club year comes! We have still been keeping up with the Member Recognition program, updating the Key Resources Google Drive, trying to charter and reactivate schools around Indiana, and now reviving the LTG Table Talk Series! We all have been collaborating on ways to try and engage our current members, and overall just trying to improve the Key Club experience for everyone! With Key Club dues being due soon we are trying to get in some last-minute chartering and reactivation! For the most part, though, the Member Development Committee has been doing great! KFAM & CONNECTIONS

It's almost the end of Quarter 3 and the Kiwanis Family And Connections Committee has

worked so hard to have made many accomplishments. Along with sending out update emails and congratulations emails to the Kiwanis Board, each member has also made new connections that the Indiana Board hopes to foster and continue in the future! We've been working very hard to plan our joint Kiwanis Event, a Google Meet for all Key Clubbers to join to learn more about the Kiwanis Family from guest speakers!

We helped Indiana District Governor, Paige Hein, promote her Governor's Project by creating graphics and encouraging Kiwanians to donate. We also continued to grow our contacts and communications with Key Club's preferred Partners and Programs. Make sure to read the last edition of Key News to find out what else we do! 12

DISTRICT EVENT

FALL RALLY On October 14, 2023, Key Clubbers from all around the state attended Fall Rally. Held at the Indianapolis Zoo, attendees were able to see all sorts of animals, while also being able to meet new Key Club friends. This was such a fun experience, as it got everyone excited for the rest of the service year. There was a scavenger hunt to win a prize. It also was a great way for people to encourage more attendance at other district events! Overall, it was an amazing day filled with great weather, animals, and Key Club spirit! 13

KEY LEADER RECAP This year, Key Leader was held on November 3rd - 5th, in Brookston, Indiana at Camp Tecumseh. Key Leader was a total blast! A wide variety of schools from all over Indiana came to learn more about being a servant leader. Lead Facilitator Chris Niles did an excellent job teaching everyone the 5 main qualities of a Key Leader. We touched heavily on, respect, being a servant leader, growth, integrity, building community, and excellence.

The weekend was full of fun leadership activities, bonding opportunities, and just some refreshing nature experiences. Throughout the weekend, Chris Niles spoke to everyone and presented ways to be a Key Leader and help everyone get a better understanding of what that entails. Everyone was separated into various groups of neighborhoods, where they were lead by a Student Facilitator. Attendees participated in a ropes course, where they had to work together and communicate to solve puzzles. They also had to opportunity to take part in any of the wide variety of outdoor activites offered at Camp Tecumseh.

Camp Tecumseh was a beautiful site for Key Leader to be held. The woods where we did our ropes courses were beautiful.

INDIANA DISTRICT BOARD

NOVEMBER BOARD RECAP On the weekend of November 11th, the Indiana District Board met in Indianapolis, Indiana, for their November Board meeting. The weekend started off strong with an update from our International Trustee, Abigail Choi. Along with this, there was ample time for everyone to break into committees and get loads of work done. On top of that, the Executive Board was able to update the LtGs with that they had been up to since the last meeting. The weekend was full of hard work, and everyone made use of the time spent in Indy. Committees also accomplished a lot! Check out the committee updates to see more. It was so amazing to get to see everyone again, even though we had seen each other at Fall Rally and Key Leader. Once again, the meeting was great for bonding, and we even did a white elephant gift exchange during our Holiday Party on Saturday night! If you are interested in joining the INDB, see the page in this magazine regarding running. 15

District Leadership Convention WHERE: Crown Plaza Hotel, Indianapolis, Indiana. WHEN: March 1st-3rd, 2024 THEME: Tales of Service!

The Indiana District Leadership Convention is a weekend full of service, friendship, and leadership. Key Clubbers from all around the state attend the convention to meet and mingle with other students, while also participating in service projects, workshops, and electing the INDB officers for the next year. The weekend is the biggest event of the Key Club year, as that is where the future officers, policies, and amendments are made. 16

Attending this event is truly an amazing experience. Attendees arrive on Friday evening in their themed attire (this year is fairytale), and get to get settled into their rooms before dinner. This time is also very good for branching out and meeting new people! While Friday night is a lot of fun, Saturday is the busiest day of the weekend. This is the day where attendees participate in service projects led by the INDB, and then after, they

attend workshops of their choosing, led by various individuals. During the service projects, attendees are placed into groups, where they are combined with students from other schools. Saturday night is when candidates for executive positions give their speeches in House of Delegates. This is where delegates are able to vote. After this, it’s Governor’s Ball time! This is an amazing weekend, so please, register ASAP!
