THANKS TO CONTENT BEING DELIVERED NONSTOP OVER SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS SUCH AS TIKTOK, YOUTUBE AND INSTAGRAM, FINANCIAL ADVICE IS MORE ACCESSIBLE THAN EVER BEFORE. THE BAD NEWS? MUCH OF IT CAN BE MISINFORMATION.
According to CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals, here are some red flags to watch out for, so you can stay on track with your goals:
l Lack of qualifications: Someone simply calling themself an expert does not make it so. Look for credentials such as CFP® certification to indicate that the social media influencer has formal financial planning education and experience.
l Guaranteed returns: Offers that sound too good to be true typically are. Be wary of “no risk, high reward” claims.
l Pressure: Applying pressure on viewers to act fast could be a sign
that you’re watching a scam artist. CFP® professionals can work with you to plan years and even decades ahead, on goals such as retirement or buying a home. Financial planning can take time.
l Sensational language: Is a financial influencer, or “finfluencer,” dismissing traditional retirement accounts as obsolete?
Advising that you tie up all your assets in real estate? Be suspicious of bold claims challenging prevailing financial wisdom. It’s important to remember that many influencers operate with one goal in mind: getting views, likes, comments and reshares. While such content is entertaining, it doesn’t necessarily constitute sound financial advice.
l Paid promotions: If the influencer is touting a specific solution or product, it could be a sign they are being paid to do so. Financial advice should be delivered with your best interests in mind.
l Anecdotal evidence: Every financial situation is unique, so use caution before following advice based on someone’s personal
experience. What worked for the content creator may not work for you.

According to Experian research, Gen Z and millennials are not going to financial organizations for information or to shop for financial services as a first step. Among those surveyed ages 18-44, the go-to source of information is an internet search, while only about 30% of respondents overall go to a financial services company. Industry experts say that you should be
cautious about information found on these channels.
“Learning good financial habits early can set you up for long-term success. It all starts with the right knowledge from trustworthy sources,” says Rod Griffin, senior director of Consumer Education and Advocacy for Experian.

LEARNING TO WRITE IS ONE OF THE DEFINING MILESTONES OF EARLY CHILDHOOD, BUT IT DOESN’T HAPPEN ALL AT ONCE. CHILDREN BUILD WRITING SKILLS OVER TIME, FROM INDECIPHERABLE SCRIBBLES TO WRITING LETTERS AND WORDS. WHILE CHILDREN PROGRESS AT THEIR OWN PACE, FAMILIES CAN HELP FOSTER EARLY WRITING DEVELOPMENT.
Dr. Lauren Loquasto, senior vice president and chief academic officer at The Goddard School, and Dr. Sonia Cabell, professor of reading education at Florida State University and member of The Goddard School’s Educational Advisory Board, provide this insight and guidance for families.
Early Writing Milestones
Writing begins in early toddlerhood, around 18-24 months. The earliest developmental milestone is when children scribble on paper with a crayon.
By 2-3 years old, children often draw shapes and narrate their writing. Parents should show genuine interest to help build confidence and interest. Ask your children to read what they write, as
this helps make the connection that marks on paper represent thoughts and ideas. It’s not expected for children younger than 3 to write identifiable letters. Instead, encourage them to make marks on paper without constraint, allowing them to freely express themselves.
Around ages 3-5, children begin to move from writing (making marks) to handwriting, which is the formalized motion of making numerals and letters in recognizable forms. It’s vital for parents to value their children’s writing no matter what appears on the paper and provide opportunities for them to regularly engage in writing. Children at this age tend to write letters in different ways. It’s common, for example, for letters to appear backwards or from right to left.
These are not causes for concern; this is a natural part of the development process.
Writing Supports Reading (and Vice Versa)
Reading and writing skills develop in tandem, reinforcing each other. Through writing, children experiment with how written language works, learning English moves from left to right and top to bottom. By estimating spelling – using their knowledge of letter shapes and sounds to attempt to write words – they are beginning to break the code of reading. Moreover, when children are composing stories, they are supporting comprehension and oral language growth, which are critical for reading development.
Encourage Writing at Home
Make writing part of everyday life. While ensuring paper and writing utensils are accessible is a start, materials alone won’t spontaneously create writing experiences. Children naturally want to engage with things they see, so parents and older siblings should serve as writing models. For example, when writing a grocery
list, ask your children to write their own lists. When you’re writing a thank-you note, have them write their own.
The development of fine motor skills is also essential. One way to do this is provide tools like chopsticks or tongs that require them to use their forefinger and thumb in a pinching motion; this strengthens the hand muscles that are used to write. Also encourage play with small toys like blocks or beads that engage the hands in different ways. As fine motor skills improve, it becomes easier to grip writing utensils and write for extended periods.
Writing Tools
From apps to workbooks, countless tools and resources tout their ability to help children learn to write. Be wary. Typing on a tablet or computer is no substitute for learning to write by hand. Multiple studies have shown that writing – not typing – better promotes cognitive and literacy development.
Avoid activities like workbooks that require repetitive writing of letters over and over, as this inhibits creativity and experimentation. These activities can cause children to fear making mistakes, which can lead to anxiety, frustration and a
loss of interest. The best tools are often the simplest: a small writing utensil (not big or bulky; children have small hands and need appropriately sized utensils) and a blank piece of paper.

HOW WOMEN EXPERIENCE HEART DISEASE DIFFERENTLY
Although heart disease is the leading cause of death among American women, according to the American Heart Association, symptoms are often overlooked or explained away as less worrisome conditions.
“Men and women experience many aspects of life differently, and heart disease is no exception,” said LeAnne Bloedon, MS, RD, vice president of clinical development, Esperion Therapeutics.
“Symptoms of a heart attack aren’t as obvious as many women think, and failing to recognize the danger and get help can have catastrophic results.”
One heart disease risk factor, for example, is high LDL cholesterol. Often referred to as a “silent killer,” it doesn’t always present noticeable symptoms. In fact, data suggests women with high LDL cholesterol are not diagnosed or treated as early or aggressively as men, which can put women at an increased risk for cardiovascular events. Understanding how men’s and women’s risk and symptoms differ may help identify and treat a serious heart health

Anatomy Differences
Some differences between men and women are present in the body’s internal systems, including the cardiovascular system. Women generally have s maller hearts and narrower blood vessels.
This can affect heart health in numerous ways, including less efficient stress responses and greater risk of widespread plaque buildup, especially in smaller vessels, called microvasculature, which can pose treatment challenges.
Cholesterol Buildup Hormones influence aspects of the body’s function, including cholesterol levels. Estrogen, a female sex hormone, raises HDL (good) cholesterol levels. This may be why women tend to have more HDL cholesterol and lower LDL (bad) cholesterol than men, especially before they reach menopause, though inherited high cholesterol can affect women of all ages.
“It’s critical to raise awareness about the importance of measuring LDL cholesterol, diagnosing high cholesterol and treating elevated LDL cholesterol per guidelines and individual patient needs,” Bloedon said.
Risk Factors
While there are shared risk factors for heart disease among men and women (such as obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes), some risk factors disproportionately affect women. For example, uncontrolled cholesterol in women, particularly after menopause, can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Care and Treatment
“While you may not be able to fully prevent heart disease, you can understand the risks and take proactive steps,” Bloedon said. “Commit to a healthy, smoke-free lifestyle. Exercise regularly and eat a well-balanced diet with limits on processed foods, sugar, sodium and alcohol. Take any medications as directed by your health care provider.”
Statins, which reduce the production of cholesterol in the liver and lower cholesterol levels in the bloodstream, are the medications most often prescribed to help manage high LDL cholesterol. While generally well-tolerated, statin intolerance (the inability to take a statin at any dose or the recommended dose) does occur in some patients and is more common in women.

Symptoms of Heart Attacks in Women
Women’s experiences with heart disease may be quite different from men.
For example, according to the Heart Disease Foundation, women are likely to be older when they experience a heart attack. They may also attribute symptoms to other conditions, such as diabetes or arthritis.
Further complicating matters, several diseases mimic heart attacks so getting to the root of the problem can be tricky. Women are more apt than men to experience a coronary spasm, coronary dissection or broken heart syndrome.
What to Watch For:
l Like men, women experiencing a heart attack may notice prolonged or reoccurring chest pain or pressure.
l In women, that pain may extend to the arms, back, neck, jaw and stomach.
l Some women experience shortness of breath with no chest pain at all.
l Other symptoms women are more likely to report can be easily mistaken for other conditions. Some of these signs include unexplained fatigue, disruptions to normal sleep patterns, lightheadedness, nausea and cold sweats.

Controlling Risk Factors
Up to 80% of strokes may be preventable, according to the
American Stroke Association. You can take action to prevent strokes by managing your risk factors, like high blood pressure, a leading cause and controllable risk factor for stroke and heart disease.
Other risk factors include diabetes and obesity, which can be kept in check with healthy lifestyle behaviors such as good nutrition. Quitting smoking and being physically active are important. Atrial fibrillation, or AFib, which is a quivering or irregular heartbeat, also increases stroke risk. In fact, people with AFib are five times more likely to have a stroke, according to the American Heart Association.
Preventing a Second Stroke
Nearly 1 in 4 strokes occur in people who had a previous stroke, sometimes because they don’t know what caused the first, making identifying the cause of the stroke a key step toward future prevention. Treatment depends on the type of stroke someone is having, which can be determined with a series of medical evaluations and tests.
Work with your health care professional to develop a plan that helps you move forward after a first stroke while preventing a second. This plan should include controlling risk factors, like achieving and maintaining healthy blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
“Preventing a second stroke is possible with the right approach,” said Teresita Casanova, MD, HCA Healthcare affiliated neurologist and American Stroke Association volunteer expert. “Taking medicines as prescribed, monitoring health numbers, and making small, consistent lifestyle changes can make a big difference. Stroke survivors should feel empowered to take control of their health and work with their care team to build a strong prevention plan.”

F: Face Drooping. Does one side of the face droop, or is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the person’s smile uneven?
A: Arm Weakness. Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S: Speech. Is speech slurred? Is the person unable to speak or hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, like “The sky is blue.”

Many adults experience changes to their sense of smell. Twelve to 13 percent of Americans over age 40-about 13.3 million peoplehave problems with their ability to smell. These problems-known as “smell disorders”-are more common in men than women. The risk of having a smell disorder also increases with age; nearly 25 percent of men ages 60 to 69 have a smell disorder.
People with a smell disorder either have trouble smelling odors, or they experience odors differently than most people do. There are four types of smell disorders:
l Hyposmia - you have trouble detecting odors
l Anosmia - you can’t detect odors at all
l Parosmia - the way you perceive odors changes; for example, something that normally smells pleasant now smells foul
l Phantosmia - you perceive an odor that isn’t there
Smell disorders have many causes besides aging. Other causes are:
l Viruses
l Sinus inflammation and other upper-respiratory infections
l Smoking
l Head injuries
l Hormonal disturbances
l Dental problems
l Some medications
l Conditions that affect the nervous system
Changes in a person’s sense of smell can be short or long-lasting. Some people regain their ability to smell when they recover from the illness that caused the change. Others recover their sense of smell spontaneously, for no obvious reason.
If you experience changes in your sense of smell, talk to a doctor. Smell disorders can be a sign of a serious underlying health condition and can have a negative effect on your quality of life. An otolaryngologist-a specialist in diseases of the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck-can help identify the cause of a potential smell disorder and offer options for treatment.

Few buildings in Saxony are as storied as Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden. Steps from the Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz in the historic heart of the city, Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is perhaps the most iconic hotel in Germany. Conceived by Berlin restaurant manager Lorenz Adlon as the most opulent hotel in the world, the Adlon was officially opened in 1907 by Emperor Wilhelm II, revealing state-of-the-art features like hot and cold running water, gas and electricity and an internal cooling system. Notable guests, including Greta Garbo, Charlie Chaplin, Thomas Mann and Albert Einstein have called the hotel home, and today, it remains the address of choice among visiting heads of state, royals and corporate titans.

The Original Swiss Mountain Resort
Well-heeled travellers have journeyed to the Swiss mountain village of Engelberg since the 1880s to enjoy the soothing properties of its fabled mineral water and walk among alpine flower-covered meadows. The resplendent property now known as Kempinski Palace Engelberg was originally established as the Grand Hotel Winterhaus in 1904 and has been welcoming health-conscious travellers for more than 120 years. As the first centrally heated hotel in Switzerland, it ushered in a new era of winter tourism and continues to lure discerning guests from all over the world. After a five-year transformation, the hotel reopened in 2021 as part of the Kempinski constellation, revealing extensive restorations to the historic Belle Époque part of the building and a new wing that remains faithful to the architectural and design aesthetic of the original. Late 19th century charm has been restored to the hotel’s public spaces and historic balconies, as well as the original Belle Époque ‘Kursaal’ events space, fusing elements of old and new with imperceptible subtlety.
Swiss Alpine Retreat
Steeped in history, Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz occupies an iconic building dating back to 1864. Originally established as the Grand Hotel des Bains, the property was built around the legendary Mauritius spring, whose healing waters have drawn visitors since the Bronze Age. Celebrated by the famed physician Paracelsus, the spring made St. Moritz a pioneer in Alpine wellness tourism. Today, the spring still flows and can be experienced within the hotel’s expansive 2,800 sqm Alpine Spa. Over the centuries, the hotel underwent several architectural transformations, from its neo-Baroque towers to neoGothic Bay windows and the 1927 expansion featuring the original Cà d’Oro, now rebranded as the only Greek restaurant in Upper Engadine for the winter season 2025. Once the home of Ottoman sovereigns, Çırağan Palace Kempinski has brought imperial splendour to the shores of the Bosphorus since the 17th century. Under the careful stewardship of Kempinski since its opening as a hotel in 1991, the historic property – an enduring symbol of Turkish hospitality – reopened in 2023 after a significant redesign that reaffirmed its status as the finest address in Istanbul. Interior designer Serdar Gülgün took inspiration from Ottoman art and Istanbul’s historic palaces to imbue the guestrooms and suites with renewed grandeur, with mother-of-pearl, ebony inlaid furniture and hammamstyle bathrooms, as well as fabrics bearing traditional Ottoman patterns and motifs. As well as a magnificent new entrance and lobby, Çırağan Palace Kempinski is home to a collection of spectacular dining concepts including Tuğra, which takes diners on a journey into the heart and soul of the Ottoman Empire, with soaring ceilings, velvet curtains and bespoke artworks that set the scene for an evening of traditional Turkish and Ottoman cuisine.
