L etter from the editor Dear Readers, The moon creates a haze leaving us all a little dazed, once upon a night, as we know it could be more than just a little fright. Shadows linger as we watch everyone point a finger as the mystery unfolds. Creepy? Yes, indeed! It is not real, or is it? Halloween Eve is always saved for those who believe that there is more to the door creaking or things that go bump and thump! There is a stark contrast of dark verses light, surely we must be dreaming, wake us up as we dread the dreary sight! Doors will be open, some will be slammed shut, but there will always be a window we can slip through as we sift through the cobwebs of our cluttered minds. Stay on task, take off the mask and let all see the beauty of your soul. Relinquish nothing as you make your way into a new world. Life is standing by, don’t miss the train, let everything fall into place like the leaves in Autumn rain.

Signature Profile October Breast Cancer Awareness Month Tips

1) Share your survival story and feel proud that you are one more voice of victory fighting against this disease. At some point in all of our lives, breast cancer has an impact on survivors, family members, caregivers and medical professionals. 2) Wear pink or display pink for the month, there are employers who have Pink days to increase breast cancer awareness. It could save many lives with preventive measures to catch breast cancer early. 3) October is the month that large companies make huge donations toward finding a cure and to create awareness as well. There are many different ways to create a fundraiser, it does not have to be on a large scale. Even if a small group of people made a simple donation, it can go a long way to help fight this disease. There is some good news to report by The National Cancer Institute: the U.S. Cancer rate fell for diagnosed women between 2006-2015. There is a genetic testing kit available now to determine for women to assess whether they carry any of the 3 gene mutations that are associated with breast cancer. There is a positive surgery available that allows the removal of cancer tissue and immediately following a restoring and resculpting of the remaining tissue creates a more natural appearance. Early detection is the key to a woman’s survival rate, self exams are so important to give everyone a fighting chance, now and especially during the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

TNapa imeless Journeys with Sage Girls Trip by Kimberly “Sage” Pridemore We are happy to announce Infinity Magazines new and exciting feature, “Timeless Journeys with Sage.” Sage has been with the Infinity team for several years, her wisdom, knowledge and experience makes her a perfect fit as Infinity’s Travel Editor for this special feature. Each issue will be a wonderful adventure with Sage as she travels to amazing destinations. Sage will share her travels with helpful tips, interesting facts about her fun filled and relaxing get-aways! Sage & Mimi’s Napa Girls Trip Mimi and I enjoyed our time in Sedona and were now ready to continue our girls getaway. We were off to Napa! For Christmas, Mimi bought me a Napa Valley

4

Cellar pass, and it was time for us to use it. Napa is an amazing destination for a besties’ week or weekend. It’s easy, fun and safe. This was our second Napa trip together and our plan was to hit both new wineries and visit our favorites from before. Purchasing a clear pass is a great way to save money and enjoy the tasting rooms. For $99.00, you can purchase a passport giving you $750.00 worth of tastings. Mimi took care of making our reservations in advance. From Sedona we flew into Sacramento, rented a car and were off. Our first stop was at Domaine Carneros. Though they are not on the passport, it’s a must stop! Domaine Carneros is a winery best known as a small grower-producer of methode tradionnelle sparkling wine, pinot noir, estate vineyards and a breathtaking chateau. We decided to go for the Art of Sparkling Wine pairing: Bubbles and Bites. It included four of their sparkling wines paired with five Asian-themed

bites. We sat outside on the terrace and enjoyed the beautiful early spring weather and view of Napa Valley. Our plan each day was to do 2-3 tastings, lunch, shopping, sight seeing and some sort of exercise. Great plan, right? Thanks to the small bites our first day, we decided to skip lunch and find another food and wine pairing. We opted to check into our hotel and took advantage of their steam room and sauna before afternoon venturing. It was a great way to decompress. We spent one night at the Napa hotel, and then headed up to Calistoga for two nights at Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa. Del Dotto is one of the wineries on the cellar pass - and one of my favorites. Though Del Dotto opened in 2007, they happily pay homage to their family’s Venetian heritage dating back to 1150. The cathedral like structure, sits on the original Rutherford vineyard purchased by Dave and Yolanda in 1988. We chose their unique cave experience and barrel tasting. It was amazing. Not only did we get to visit the cave, but we had 6-8 tastings directly from the barrel, followed by a selection of cheese, house made salami, pizza and dark chocolate. We made our way back to the town of Napa and did some shopping. Napa is the seat of Napa County, California, in the heart of Napa Valley wine region. Downtown is known for turn-of-the-century architecture, with a riverfront promenade hosting shops and restaurants. It’s a great place to stroll and buy fun trinkets, of course! It was hard to believe we were hungry for dinner so soon, but we were. Since we could see Gott’s Roadside from our hotel, we simply crossed the street to indulge in this iconic roadside burger joint. Our meal consisted of cheeseburgers, fries, and of course milkshakes! It was delicious and sleep came easy. After a leisurely morning of sleeping in, checking emails and a light breakfast, we headed out to our first tasting of the day: Frank Family Vineyards. They were voted “Best Napa Winery” by the Bay area A-list for eight years in a row, and awarded “Winery of the Year” twice by the Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine.

We did their Estate Tasting, which included their sparkling and reserve wines. We enjoyed our wines on a beautiful shaded back porch. My favorite was the Lewis Vineyard Pinot Noir. We were now ready to head to our home-away-from-home in Calistoga. Kudos to my bestie, Mimi, for booking The Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa. It is an epic ode to the Great Road trips of midcentury America and the spirit of exploration it evokes. The lodge is located in the middle of downtown Calistoga and is a superb location. The vibe fit Mimi and I to a tee. We even happened to be there on the full moon. The spa was had a full moon party to celebrate - and of course - we joined. But more on that later. My Zen moment: The lodge has an amazing hot spring mineral pool, bocce ball, fire pits and bikes. We decided to get our Napa on, take the bikes into town and get some exercise. What a blast. Mimi and I ventured off and rode the vintage bikes into Calistoga to shop and sight see. And despite crashing into a hedge, I did just fine! That evening we attended the Moonshine Full Moon Celebrations at MoonAcres Spa, located at the lodge. We had so much fun. Champagne, wine, snacks and an array of mini spa treatments were all included. I enjoyed a mini massage and a wonderful mineral infused mud mask on my hands. We had an opportunity to get a tarot reading from a local reader who gave me the perfect message: Keep on traveling! I left that evening with a fabulous gift bag filled with wonderful skin care treasures, along with new friendships and a renewed sense of well being. My Zen moment: Taking a midnight dip under the full moon into the hot springs. I felt full of gratitude and in alignment with my soul’s path. Napa Valley is, of course, a place for great food and wine, however there are many other activities you can enjoy. Fun ranges from hot air balloon rides, Calistogo mud baths, olive oil tastings, shopping and biking! Until the next time! (Continued on pg. 6)

Dr. Kelly Duffner, Merlanne and Dr. Patrick Baker Chronic pain is what compelled me to come to Baker Chiropractic and Wellness. On a scale of 1 to 10, my pain level was a 10 without question. The pain and tingling started at my hips and radiated down my legs to my toes. It prevented me from being able to do everyday housework. It stopped me from participating in one of my favorite pastimes – golf. It got so bad that I couldn’t even walk and needed to depend on a walker for any mobility whatsoever. All this started at the beginning of the year. I originally sought the help of my medical doctor who diagnosed me as having a condition called central canal stenosis. I was prescribed medications to treat the pain which only provided temporary relief. By September, an epidural shot was recommended and that’s when I felt like I needed to find a better solution. Although I was skeptical at first, I decided it was time to get help from Baker Chiropractic and Wellness. Today, I am delighted to say that I am completely pain free! What Dr. Baker, Dr. Duffner and their

wonderful team have done for me is more than any words can say! I’m back to doing everyday chores around the house and golfing with friends. If I would not have come here, I am sure I would be still be laying down in bed suffering from pain while being treated with epidurals, shots and prescription pain medications that do nothing but provide a small window of relief.

LLessons etting our Leaves Fall: in Letting Go by Melanie Wiechel As autumn approaches, we enter a time of transition. While we are in a state of constant change this is the period where nature comes into harvest and we begin to slow down. I thrive in all seasons but as winter approaches, I, like the strong and sturdy oak tree I want to flow through my natural cycles. I want my life to be full of new beginnings, I want to gracefully grow tender green buds into vibrant green broad leaves, and as the cycle comes to a close, I want to celebrate my cycle through brilliant colors to celebrate the things that have given me life, purpose, employment, etc. I want to release the things that are no longer serving my life. Unlike the mighty oak tree I am not as conscious of nature’s subtle cues when to allow my leaves to change into brilliant colors and eventually fall away to be repurposed into fertilization for my renewal and rebirth as I continue to provide shelter for those who are under my care. Like the leaves events, places, people, things they all provide us with nourishment for a time. The challenge is realizing when the leaf is no longer providing us with

8

nourishment. Don’t worry if it has taken you longer to get here than you expected your seasons or cycles vary from lesson to lesson. The hardest decision we make is deciding the right time for you to allow for that leaf to gently fall away. Unfortunately, most of us we wait until a massive windstorm comes along, knocking our branches all the way to the ground or more commonly our lives become so completely uprooted we have no other choice but to grow sideways for a while. Making it so uncomfortable that we have no other choice but to change. Like so many people, I choose to either subconsciously or consciously that I am going to fight the cycles of change. My ego sneaks in and I start feeling the thoughts of things like; I am comfortable with the way that things are, I have my routines. I like my routine; this works for me doesn’t it? Then it happens; first I feel the pressure and pain around my heart. This is my body’s first cue that I am out of alignment. If I am aware of and respect

Oct / Nov 2019

my body’s signals, I can take this time to make minor adjustments and I will easily stay my course. However, since I am human after all, in the past I allowed my fears, my pride, my perceptions of what is socially acceptable to cloud my intuition. That every present nagging feeling of doubt of this change that I am considering releasing is the correct one. Is this the exact thought, behavior, environment that I need to change or am I overlooking the real problem? All of these questions are normal to have and after all these are the things that I came here to experience in this lifetime. Often we begin feeling only somewhat confident in the decision that the time has come to change your perception, your story, your experience, your life we then often realize that we have forgotten how to allow our burdens to fall away like the leaves do. We fight to hold on to the way the things were. We quickly discover the desire to change is not enough we must back this up with action. We must become aware and change the way we address every emotion, thought pattern, and behaviors surrounding the desired change. We honor the old as we allow each of those leaves the fall and repurpose them into the manifestation of something that falls into our alignment.

around the experience and the lesson is buried in a pile of leaves. If this happens examine what are the facts? What archetype roles have I played and how have they served or disserved me during this time? What behaviors do I do as a result of this? This will often lead to some hard-inner truths; the little details that we are not so proud of or have actively avoided working on. With grace and perseverance cycles of healing will slowly occur and through changing our behaviors to reflect the change that we want to create will be created. In other words, be the change that you want to see in the world. If you don’t behave like the person you are striving to become, how will you create the change you desire? Changes may be as simple as doing activities that introduce you to new people that match your vibration or something harder like giving up caffeine, sugar, or other substances. Or creating healthy boundaries in our relationships with our friends and family. Instituting a change of any type takes time we all stumble, wipe yourself off. With a moment of reaction, we can transition into grace and forgiveness we can start over again. With each new beginning it is an opportunity to start a new bud, a new leaf, or maybe even a whole new branch.

Change is seldom pretty it forces us to face the fears, our shadows, and address the behaviors that we have allowed to have a negative impact on our work, relationships, environment, health, and all other branches in our lives. If you are feeling the pull of autumn and are already feeling the anticipated grief of perceived loss here are some methods that I use in my life coaching to help process the changing of the seasons.

The first thing that we often have to do is to explore where in our lives that we are in disharmony of our mind, body, and spirit. Identify what in our lives have we created stories around where we are the victim, the antihero, the hero what happened in the story? What is your truth? How does the story that you created leave you feeling? Does it leave you feeling empowered or disempowered, are you a survivor or a victim? With trauma there are occasions where we write the story so that our emotions are completely sacrificed. The lesson begins with I survived, moves into I am learning to live, in time moves to I am alive. Every experience we have carries a piece of wisdom that we are to take from it we can take that lesson and flow with the cycle, but more often than not our ego steps in and a story is created

H ealing Touch for Animals by Maureen Hollmeyer Did you know your pets have the same energy system as you? Yes, that’s right, all animals have the 7 main chakras ~ just like humans! When the energy is compromised, disease develops and there is a limited ability to heal properly. Balanced energy relaxes the muscles, releases toxins, increases endorphins and circulation. This allows the oxygen to increase in order to build enzymes that absorb nutrients to regulate hormones that provides healthy cell growth to promote optical healing. This technique is beneficial for pre-surgery and postsurgery to increase the ability to heal. Not only do hospitals offer this service but the SPCA does too through volunteers like myself. At this time, I’ve been able to see the difference I’m making with the animals on a bi-weekly basis. My first remarkable experience at the SPCA occurred when I was helping a Pit Bull with a fractured pelvis. Now, let me say, I’m not used to being around Pit Bulls and especially ones in a kennel that are barking with their teeth! Luckily, the nurse convinced me he was harmless and a sweetheart. So, I took a few minutes to ground myself to eliminate my fear and when I approached his kennel, Spencer was barking loud and he showing signs of not being able to sit down comfortably. I unlocked his gate, and slowly sat down next to him on the cement floor. To my surprise, Spencer stopped barking and was watching me with an excited look in his eyes! This is a great sign that he didn’t sense my fear, so I started his Healing Touch session. After about 5 minutes, I was reaching for his hips when he came close to my face and he slowly laid in my lap! This

10

was a delightful surprise until his entire body started to shake uncontrollably! I immediately gave him a huge hug. Then I realized he was just as scared of me as I was of him!!! You see, dogs have an energy span 10 x greater than human’s energy so I was the visitor. My guess was that he could sense my positive energy. This allowed him to feel safe enough to let his fear show and it felt as if he had been holding his breath and finally gasped for air. I used accelerated Healing Touch by initiating my Chi Energy and I put my hands on both of his hips. I comforted him with a gentle voice by saying ‘it’s ok, sweetie’. Once I started Healing Touch he gradually stopped shaking and was completely relaxed. At the end of the session he looked into my eyes and we had a moment. He allowed me to see inside his soul! I could see all his vulnerabilities but mostly his huge heart that was filled with unconditional love without boundaries. Then without taking his eyes off of me he licked my entire arm and face with love and gratitude! Of course, this made me giggle! By this time, he was able to sit comfortably and even lay on his belly. I reluctantly said goodbye and slowly walked away. Not only did his heart chakra open wide that allowed his love to shine but my heart chakra too! We were two souls speaking the language of love. Of course, I couldn’t stop thinking about him so I continued to provide Healing Touch long distance over the weekend each night before I went to bed. I made a special trip to the SPCA to see him on Monday although he wasn’t in his kennel.

Oct / Nov 2019

To my surprise, he was chosen to go to a Foster Home! My heart sang and that’s when I knew I made a difference. As a Healing Touch for Animals practitioner, I’ve witnessed a dog’s non-cancerous mass shrink overnight, abused dogs bond again with humans, huge horses relax so much that they were ‘putty in my hands’ and cats that went from hissing to purring and a dog who went from a high level of aggression to being totally relaxed, all with this energy work. These techniques can be used on any animal, near or far, in a cage or under water. Also, these techniques can be used for injury, illness, releasing emotional trauma, competitions, behaviors or end of life transition.

I hope you consider this holistic option along with veterinarian care for your pet. There are very limited practitioners in the US who specialize using energy work for animals as most offer services for humans only. Thankfully, in January of 2020, I will be able to offer both Healing Touch for animals and humans too. About the author: Maureen is a Healing Touch for Animals Level IV practitioner and is located in Cincinnati, Oh. She is a Spiritual Life Coach who teaches people about their guardian angels and provides Angel Oracle Card readings. She is a published author, artist and a licensed social worker who works with abused and neglected children. Her website is: www.transitional-guidance.com

Where Do We Go from Here?* by Kevin J. Todeschi

(*Adapted from Edgar Cayce on Mastering Your Spiritual Growth) “Who am I?” “Why am I here?’ “What is the purpose of my life?” Throughout the history of the world, questions such as these have driven every generation in search of meaning. Many have discovered partial answers in religion. Some have encountered personal revelation in philosophy. There are those who have even found clarification of their life’s purpose in psychology. All too many, however, have spent a lifetime in search of answers that they didn’t entirely know how to ask, causing some to seek meaning through all manner of escape, acquisition, addiction, and confusion. What if the purpose of life was not simply to be born into a family, go to school, get a job, acquire material

12

goods, create a family of one’s own, grow older, and then eventually die, leaving one’s family members and descendants to repeat the very same cycle? What if one’s life experiences were not simply random chance; instead, what if some kind of divine purposefulness stood behind the possibilities of every single day for every single individual? What if we suddenly discovered we were somehow actively involved in co-creating the substance of our lives? What if we came to realize that, for the most part, our perception of ourselves has been extremely limited? What if the answer to the question “Who am I?” was much more than we had ever even dared to imagine? Perhaps more than anything else, humanity is in need of an entire worldview shift – a change in our collective perception that will enable all individuals to look at themselves and one another in a completely new light.

Oct / Nov 2019

This change in perception needs to amount to nothing less than a quantum leap in our understanding of what life is all about, for humanity’s previous worldview has been sorely inadequate. Life is not about acquisition. It is not about appeasing one’s desires and needs. It is not about lobbying to get one’s way. It is not about being victimized or bullying another. It is not about being afraid or causing fear. It is not about seeking pleasure or inflicting pain. It is not about taking control of another or being controlled oneself. It is not about proselytizing personal beliefs. It is not about problems with race or sex or war or governments or culture or territorial borders. Ultimately, it is not even about religion. Simply stated, life is a process of coming to know ourselves, our connection to one another, searching for a higher meaning and purpose, and ultimately coming to a personal understanding of our relationship to the divine so that we can bring spirit into the earth. This change in our collective worldview is not only necessary it is also inevitable. The truth about who we are can no longer be contained within the confines of what we once thought about ourselves. With greater and greater frequency, this single fact has repeatedly led individuals from countless backgrounds, cultures, and faiths to sense and to predict “the end of the world.” Although it is true that the world as we know it is coming to a close, it is not that the world is literally ending; rather, it is that our perception of the world and ourselves is in the throes of a complete and radical transformation. When this shift has arrived, we will no longer think ourselves to be what we never really were. As it is now, our limited worldview suggests one of two fundamental possibilities about the nature of humankind for much of the world. The first is that life is accidental and random, implying that there is no God and that we are nothing more than physical bodies. The second is that there is an all-loving God but for reasons we may not understand, He is conditional in that love. He is also all-forgiving but only within a certain period of time. Nor does He play favorites, unless one refuses to do things His way. Even now, certain logical assumptions suggest that neither of these two possibilities is accurate. The structure and harmony of the universe, the cyclic

Infinity

nature of all of life and the universal laws we can perceive in action tend to indicate that the cosmos follows design more so than accident. In our own lives, the fact that we possess the capacity to dream, the ability to hope, and the capability of inspiring others to go beyond their perceived limitations suggests that there is much more to us than a physical body. In terms of the conflicting nature of God, does it not seem problematic that, if the purpose of life is simply to receive the same eternal reward or punishment, for some unknown reason the Creator has visited upon us very different tests? For some, that test may be like an easy math problem that requires only the ability to add and subtract but for others that test is like a complex algebraic equation that only the most gifted in mathematical theory and computation could even begin to decipher. One person’s life may be filled with minor struggles and pain, while another’s seems fraught with tragedy, misfortune, and unspeakable horror. This limiting worldview would have us believe that a Creator who designed the intricacies of the galaxies could send a child to a Mahatma Gandhi or a Reverend Billy Graham and hope for the same level of success as a child He sent to a Joseph Stalin or a Saddam Hussein. Does this really seem godlike to anyone? What if the apparent randomness of life isn’t random at all but instead a purposeful unfolding of experiences, thoughts, desires, and personal lessons? What if we discovered that we were active participants in the creation of every element of our lives rather than simply the recipient of them? What if the Creator was at least as equitable and fair as a loving parent who didn’t play favorites with her or his children? What if God was truly all-loving, ever-merciful, and eternally supportive, providing a firm foundation for each of His children to live and grow and become all that they were meant to be? Perhaps the fundamental problem in our present collective worldview is that we rarely approach our lives from the proper perspective. Because of the challenges of life, all-too-often we find ourselves so overwhelmed by our day-to-day activities that (Continued on pg. 14)

13

(Continued from pg. 13)

we no longer have the energy or the time to even ponder a higher purpose. Many of us face relationship problems, financial difficulties, job insecurities, family tragedies, and all manner of physical, mental, and spiritual suffering. It is not that these things are new to the human condition; instead, it appears as though the birthing pains of a new worldview are causing countless people to undergo a variety of challenges, oftentimes due to change, at this moment in our collective history. Because of these personal challenges, many individuals have begun to feel helpless and even victimized in terms of having any ability to mold or change the substance of their lives. Our victimization has led many of us to blame our parents, our upbringing, our neighbors, even our society and our government for our present situation. The tragic irony of this is that it is only by exercising our abilities of freedom of choice, personal change and “co-creation” will we ever be able us to transform ourselves and, in turn, the world. Most often, we have failed to understand the far-reaching capacity we possess to shape, mold, create and transform our present experience. In truth, we are always co-creating the substance or our lives and we are always positively contributing to or negatively detracting from the world around us. If this is true, if we are always in the process of co-creation, what are we creating by our fascination with war, with our hatred of other countries and cultures, with our desire to “get even,” or with our anticipation of disaster or even an Armageddon? Are our thoughts creating miracles for the future, or are we contributing to the problem? Do we get angry about various hatreds, animosities and the lack of peace in the world without seeing the need to reconcile, reach out, or to make peace in our own lives? Regardless of our present circumstance, regardless of current world events, regardless of how overwhelmed we may feel right now, there is always something we can do about it.

with personal problems. Our greatest challenge right now is whether or not we can collectively become conscious of the impact we have upon our present experience. What kind of a world are we building? What are we creating by our thoughts, our deeds, and our interactions with those around us, as well as upon the other side of the world? As co-creators in the here and now we need to become aware of our role in creation. Even the heavens wait with expectancy for us to bring these things into manifestation. Ultimately, only one thing stands between each individual and a personal awakening: the human will. As long as we are alive, we have the possibility to effect lasting, positive change. What do we want the world of tomorrow to look like? What are we co-creating for our future? Where do we want to go? Ultimately, our purpose individually and collectively is to make the world a better place because we have lived in it. The future of our lives and the world around us is our hands. What are we doing about it?

The Trouble with Thanksgiving by Cynthia M. Brown It is fall again. This is the time of year I love the most. Beautiful temperatures outside; beautiful landscapes, colors, food… We have these wonderful rituals of getting together with our families and friends over tables laden with all the best foods of the season and telling one another how much we have to be thankful for…. That is the trouble… We wait for this one time of year to articulate what ought to be a state of beingness! Yet, our lives are filled with grace everyday. For example, a few weeks ago my mother, who has battled stage 4 metastatic ovarian cancer of the lymphatic system, including two bouts of brain cancer, suddenly went into congestive heart failure. Her low blood pressure made finding the right drug cocktail very tricky. I rushed home to see her and on my way back to my own home, I hit a deer. I had to drive 6008 miles home. My brother-in-law examined my car and said it seemed ok to drive. So I did. When I took my car to the body shop, it was declared a total loss. The mechanic team said they did not know how I had driven the car at highway speeds over the mountains without “control issues.” So, I have to buy a new car and be in debt not just two more years but 5 or 6 depending on the financing. I was angry when my mom got sick again. I was angry when I hit the deer. I was angry when they told me my car was a total loss. My mother, on the other hand, was grateful they got her heart working. She was grateful I wasn’t hurt in the crash. She was grateful that I made it home safe. She was grateful I had insurance…. Not to mention that she is grateful everyday that her cancer is not making mischief in her life….Grateful that a prognosis of 3-6 months has stretched to a decade -- 10 years, enough time to watch her grandchildren grow up and time to become a great grandmother. I have a friend, Rachel Grubbs-Des Roches. She is the founder of Grateful Grahams. It is a company

that is built upon living a life with an attitude of gratitude. That way of living has brought her success and has allowed her to help others build success for themselves. I admire her because she walks the talk everyday and I wish I was more like her and more like my mom. The trouble with Thanksgiving is that for most of us, it is just a day on the calendar when we give ourselves permission to overeat. I want my thanksgiving to become a state of being, a walking in gratitude for the grace given each new day, not just one day for a few hours. I wish you all the best that the season offers, each and everyday.

Seasons of Relationships by Jody Johnston Pawel, LSW, CFLE Those you hold dear to your heart and cherish are those whose relationships are most important to you. These relationships go through seasons, which is a natural process of growth. In many relationships, we often ride along, not tending to the relationship itself, hitting bumps along the way. If we were, though, we could avoid many common problems that arise in the life cycle of a relationship. Here are some examples: Marriages and other long-term intimate partnerships go through predictable cycles of growth. There’s the infatuation, falling in love, starry-eyed, butterflies in the stomach phase that everyone wishes could last forever but doesn’t and in some ways can’t. When you no longer feel butterflies, it doesn’t mean the relationship is over or has lost its passion and spark; it just might manifest in different ways. You can’t make babies stay babies. A relationship with a toddler will be different from a tween (school age child) or teen. Children at each age and stage have different needs and require you to use different skills and qualities. Developing these might be the self-growth you gain from the relationship.

One way to keep the passion and joy alive in any relationship is to tend to the relationship itself, as well as the people in it. Occasionally talk about the relationship itself and how it might be different from the past. Discuss what needs the relationship might have now that it didn’t before. We often see these changes but don’t talk openly about them. If you do, then it can prevent problems and show others your relationship with them is important to you, which enhances and strengthens the relationship itself. Here are a few examples of what that discussion might be like: Discuss with your intimate partner what season your relationship is in. This might relate to your season of life, like building a career, raising children, or retirement. It could relate to how long you’ve been together, such as being newly together, even if middle-age. Openly discuss your needs, goals, and priorities and theirs, and how both can be met within the relationship. Consider accessing other resources, such as taking a class or making new friends, so you don’t look to one person to meet all your needs and build a stronger support system.

A relationship with a new friend is different than a friend you’ve known for decades or since childhood. It’s fun getting to know new people, but they might judge you until they get to “really” know you. It’s also great to have someone who knows and loves you for who you are, who you’ve always been, regardless of whatever mood or mess is showing up that day.

Growing old together, as partners and/or friends, requires different skills and allowances than the days when you both were up to having grand adventures together. Discuss what kind of adventures you can still have. If health challenges seem to dominate your lives, then be there as a rock of support, bringing humor and positivity to the relationship, so even these adventures can be bearable and bring you closer.

Each stage of each relationship has its unique challenges, from which come the unique blessings and benefits that enrich our lives.

When your child enters school, discuss not only how their lives will be different (homework, daily routines, etc.) but how your relationship with

18

them will change. What will they be responsible for now that you previously might have done for them? Now that they are no longer babies and toddlers, you can use, model and teach healthy communication, so you can work through issues. This will become important when your children become teens, so you work through challenges together instead of butting heads over them. When your children become adults, your relationship will change again. You can’t tell other adults how to live their lives or force your will upon them, even if they are your children. If you’ve built a relationship of respect, they’ll ask your opinion and respect it. That doesn’t mean they’ll follow it, but at least they will consider your and others’ perspectives before making a decision. Each of these relationships could have its own article written about the stages of growth and what to do to navigate through each one smoothly. They all come down to respecting each other, having and using good communication, being present in the relationship, and having open discussions about concerns, so they get resolved and don’t deteriorate into drama that damages relationships. Embrace those you love and cherish and nurture the relationship you have with them. They will then bring abundant joy and blessings to your life, even when you hit the bumps in life, because you weather or work through them together.

Top 12 Foods for Healthy Immune Response by Dr. Joeseph Mercola The flu season is upon us. Staying well while those around you sniffle and sneeze requires that you extract as much nutrition from your diet as you can, loading up on the foods that pack the biggest nutritional punch. Avoiding processed foods, grains, and sugar will go a long way toward strengthening your immune system. However, you can do even more by selecting foods that are loaded with specific immune-boosting nutrients. Eating a diet rich in the following foods will be far better for your health than loading up on handfuls of supplements, or worse yet, falling victim to vaccines that expose you to health risks far worse than influenza. Below, I have outlined what I consider to be the absolute best foods you can eat to help protect yourself this season, although the list is certainly not exhaustive. 1. Unpasteurized Grass-Fed Organic Milk Raw organic milk from grass-fed cows contains beneficial bacteria that prime your immune system and can reduce allergies. It is an outstanding source of vitamins, especially vitamin A, zinc, and enzymes. Raw organic milk is not associated with any of the health problems of pasteurized milk such as rheumatoid arthritis, skin rashes, diarrhea and cramps. Raw milk also contains beneficial fats that will help your immune system. Although raw milk availability is limited in the US depending on where you live, you can locate the source closest to you at RealMilk.com. Whey Protein- Even if you don’t have access to raw milk, you can use a high-quality whey protein that comes from grass-fed cows to receive much of the same health benefits The protein in milk is whey protein. Whey is the liquid that separates from the curd during the production of cheese. When the liquid dries into powdered whey, the nutrients become concentrated, and it can be packaged and used in that form.

20

Whey protein can help you fight off colds and flu because it contains beta-glucans and immunoglobulins, which protect your immune system and support your body’s natural detoxification processes. 2. Fermented Foods If you are serious about boosting your immunity, then adding traditionally fermented foods is essential. One of the most healthful fermented foods is kefir. Kefir is an ancient cultured, enzyme-rich food full of friendly microorganisms that balance your “inner ecosystem” and strengthen immunity. Besides kefir, other good fermented foods include natto, kimchee, miso, tempeh, pickles, sauerkraut, yogurt (watch out for sugar), and olives. Friendly bacteria have a powerful, beneficial effect on your gut’s immune system, your first line of defense against pathogens, and aid in the production of antibodies 3. Raw Organic Eggs from Free-Range Chickens Before you wrinkle up your nose, raw eggs are an inexpensive and amazing source of high-quality nutrients that many people are deficient in, especially high-quality protein and fat. I am a proponent of raw eggs because they have been so helpful to my own health. As long as you have a good source for fresh, organic raw eggs, you need not worry about salmonella. To find free-range pasture farms, try your local health food store, or go to http://www.eatwild.com or http://www. localharvest.org. 4. Grass-Fed Beef or Organ Meats This recommendation is only valid if you are a protein or mixed nutritional type as carb types really should not be eating beef. Grass-fed beef comes from cows that eat what they were meant to eat—grasses, not corn or grains. This results in far greater health benefits for you and for the environment.1 Grass-fed beef is very high in vitamins A and E,

Oct / Nov 2019

omega-3 fatty acids, beta-carotene, zinc, and CLA. CLA (conjugated linoleic acid, a fatty acid) is three to five times higher in grass-fed animals than grain-fed animals and is an immune system enhancer. Don’t confuse “organic” with grass-fed, since many organically raised cows are still fed organic corn, which you don’t want. However, most grass-fed cows are raised organically. And if you can find organic AND grass-fed, that’s ideal. 5. Coconuts and Coconut Oil Besides being excellent for your thyroid and your metabolism, coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which converts in your body to monolaurin. Monolaurin is the actual compound found in breast milk that strengthens a baby’s immunity A great deal of research has been done establishing the ability of lauric acid to enhance immunity. This medium-chain fatty acid (MCFA) actually disrupts the lipid membranes of offending organisms When selecting coconuts and coconut oil, make sure you choose organic ones that are unrefined, unbleached, made without heat processing or chemicals, and are non-GMO. 6. Locally Grown Organic Vegetables Appropriate for Your Nutritional Type When it comes to fighting off pathogens, you simply can’t do any better than eating a variety of fresh, organic and preferably raw vegetables for the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and enzymes they contain. However , the amount and type of vegetables you should eat daily will depend on your nutritional type. Make sure the veggies you choose are fresh. The nutrient value drops to practically zero once a fruit or vegetable is canned. For example, take a look at the ORAC value of peaches ORAC Values - ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, and an ORAC unit or ORAC “score” is a standardized method of measuring the antioxidant capacity of different foods and supplements. The higher the ORAC score, the more effective a food is at neutralizing free radicals. The less free radicals you have, the healthier you will be.

Infinity

Back to peaches - A raw, fresh peach has an ORAC score of 1,814. A can of peaches in heavy syrup has an ORAC score of 436, meaning that more than 75 percent of the antioxidants are lost in the canning process. You can check the ORAC score for many different things at www.oracvalues.com. The higher the score, the better. Please be aware, though, that the total antioxidant capacity of a food alone does not determine its health benefit, which depends on how it is absorbed and utilized by your body. ORAC score is a useful guide, but it is only part of the picture. 7. Blueberries and Raspberries Blueberries and raspberries rate very high in antioxidant capacity (ORAC of 6,520) compared to other fruits and vegetables. Wild blueberries in particular are potent immune boosters. They contain powerful phytochemicals, such as anthocyanin, which is the pigment that gives blueberries their color. And they are lower in sugar than many other fruits. 8. Mushrooms Mushrooms strengthen your immune system because they are rich in protein, fiber, vitamin C, B vitamins, calcium, and other minerals. Mushrooms make up a large part of the fabric of the earth. According to Paul Stamets, one of the world’s leading authorities on the health benefits of mushrooms, one cubic inch of soil can contain eight miles of mycelium.2 Mushrooms also contain powerful compounds called beta-glucans, which have been long known for their immune enhancing properties. The beta-glucans in medicinal mushrooms (especially Reishi, Shiitake, and Maitake) are notable for their ability to activate/ modulate your immune system. Beta-glucan 3 enhances immunity through a variety of mechanisms, many of which are similar to those of echinacea or astragalus root. For example, it binds to macrophages and other scavenger white blood cells, activating their anti-infection activities.4 Numerous studies support this. (Continued on pg. 22)

21

(Continued from pg. 21)

9. Chlorella As foods go, chlorella is nearly perfect. Chlorella is a single-cell freshwater algae that acts as an efficient detoxification agent by binding to toxins, such as mercury, and carries them out of your system. It is the chlorophyll in chlorella that makes it so powerful. Chlorophyll helps you process more oxygen, cleanses your blood and promotes the growth and repair of your tissues. 10. Propolis Propolis is a bee resin and one of the most broadspectrum antimicrobial compounds in the world, if not the broadest spectrum, according to master herbalist Donnie Yance. Propolis is also the richest source of caffeic acid and apigenin, two very important phenolic compounds that aid in immune response. 11. Teas The three best types of tea for fending off microinvaders are Matcha green tea, tulsi tea and chaga tea. Green Tea and Matcha - Matcha is the most nutrientrich green tea and comes in the form of a stone-ground powder, completely unfermented. The best Matcha comes from Japan and has up to seventeen times the antioxidants of wild blueberries, and seven times more than dark chocolate. Green teas are rich in polyphenols, in the form of natural chemicals called catechins. The most powerful catechin in tea is epigallocatechin (EGCG), which was found in one study to be 25 to 100 times more potent than antioxidant vitamins C and E. And Matcha is more than 100 times as potent in EGCG as regular brewed green tea. Tulsi - Tulsi tea, coming from the holy basil herb, has been used for thousands of years in the Ayurvedic medicine of India. Not only is this tea loaded with antioxidants, but it has multiple positive health benefits, including supporting your immune health, memory, heart health and vision. Chaga Tea - Chaga tea, brewed from chaga mushrooms, is widely used in Russia, Poland and other countries,

22

mainly due to its ability to help with numerous body conditions. Chaga tea is rich in numerous antioxidants and Beta-d-Glucans, which directly influence the body’s immune response and aid in fighting off pathogens and other harmful agents. 12. Herbs and Spices Herbs and spices are at the top of the list of high ORAC value foods on planet Earth.5 There are simply too many good ones to summarize here! So I will simply highlight a few that deserve special mention. Garlic - Garlic, although not at the top of the ORAC chart (5,346), is incredibly beneficial to your immune system because it offers a triple-whammy: it’s antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal. You should be eating garlic every day. One of the best things about garlic is that bacteria, viruses, and yeast build up no resistance to it, unlike with synthetic antibiotics. For optimal benefits, garlic should be fresh since the active ingredient is destroyed within one hour of smashing the garlic cloves. In other words, garlic capsules are basically useless. Garlic contains allicin, a chemical that is anticarcinogenic. It also has been shown to lower LDL, lower total cholesterol, lower blood pressure, reduce your risk of blood clots and stroke, lower homocysteine, and even prevent insect bites --including mosquitoes and ticks. Herbs and Spice and Everything Nice - Immunity from common infections involves not only preventing pathogens from taking hold, but also moderating your immune response to invading pathogens. Complications arise when you experience an overresponse to the infection, which is why H1N1 is taking its toll on healthy young adults. Their bodies are over responding -- something called a “cytokine storm.” It’s basically a severe inflammatory response.6 One wonderful thing about plants (and herbs

especially) is that they don’t all stimulate your immune system—some modulate it, or act as a buffer. Here are some of the best herbs and spices for building a strong immune system that functions correctly: Honeysuckle and chrysanthemum: good antivirals Artemisia: antimalarial Andrographis, aka “King of Bitters”: antiviral, and helps modulate inflammatory response7 Licorice: buffers the inflammatory response by increasing steroid output by the adrenal glands; a good buffer if your immune system is over responding to the flu. Turmeric : ORAC score of 159,277; general immune system booster due to its high antioxidant capacity, and an anticancer agent as well; turmeric is five to eight times stronger than vitamins C and E, and even strong enough to scavenge the hydroxyl radical, which is considered by some to be the most reactive of all oxidants Black Pepper: Increases the bioavailability of just about all other foods -- herbs and other things Oregano : ORAC 13,970; active agent is rosmarinic acid, a strong antioxidant; one tablespoon of oregano has the antioxidant capacity of one medium apple

your system. And then drink it hot and often: •Elderflower (this has been used for hundreds of years for flu) •Boneset (eupatorium) •Yarrow •Linden •Peppermint •Ginger By incorporating some of these fantastic foods, you’ll not only evade the circulating viruses but improve your overall health and longevity at the same time.

Gratitude by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger

We hear the phrase “have an attitude of gratitude” often from a wide range of sources – spiritual guides, holistic healers, transformational authors, and even our wiser grandparents, parents, and friends. What does that mean, and how do we model that in our own lives? It is something that I am struggling with in my life right now, so what a great opportunity for us to explore that question together in this article! Terri and I had a conversation about not only acknowledging what we are grateful for, but also FEELING grateful for things in our lives. Lately I’ve been waking up and making a mental list of people, animals, places, and things I am grateful for as a way of helping myself to get moving in the morning. But do I take the time to truly feel grateful about each of the things on my metal list? I had to admit that, no, I didn’t do that. That got me thinking about what gratitude actually feels like, and when I have felt that way. I realized that maybe I

24

could go about this a little differently so that I focused more on the experience of feeling grateful for just a few things at a time. I started thinking about our animals, and if I saw them experience gratitude. Animals are in the now, and feel what they feel honestly and openly. What great teachers to learn from. The easiest animal for me to start with was our Basset Hound Lukas. Lukas is all about food and loving attention. He is ready to eat at any time that a human walks into the kitchen. He is so hopeful, so truly yearning for food. He sits on his place or on a rug and waits and waits for some morsel of food to come his way. His eyes light up when you offer a tidbit to him, and he swallows it with much joy. His tail wags and wags with thanks. Lukas’ whole being is gratitude at that moment. He is not thinking “I am grateful for that treat”; he is FEELING how good that treat was and how wonderful it is that he could have a treat.

Oct / Nov 2019

Remove Fear The next example of an animal experiencing gratitude comes from our cat Simba. Simba loves to be petted and stroked, and he particularly loves to lie on your torso and play happy feet (cat lovers know what that is, for the rest of you it is when cats flex and extend their front toes in a kneading motion). Simba also happens to be a very vocal cat. So, when we allow him to come and lay on us, and we stroke him while he is doing that, his great big diesel purr motor gets going and he closes his eyes and juts his lower jaw in utter contentment and gratitude at the warm human body and hands beneath him. I think Simba actually moves from feeling gratitude to utter bliss at times. So, perhaps for him, feeling gratitude and feeling content and blissful go together. In both of the examples above, the animals teach us that in order to experience gratitude, we have to seek what we are grateful for, and be in the moment with it. We need to allow ourselves to actually be present with and immersed in whatever we are grateful for in our heads, so that we can FEEL the gratitude with our whole being. Wow. I am going to now challenge myself to find one thing each day that I not only think about being grateful for, but am willing to stop and EXPERIENCE gratitude for. Maybe I will start with something simple like the sky tomorrow morning, or the wonderful smell my horse has, or simply experience a nice warm bed on a cool fall morning (instead of grumping about getting out of it). What do your animals teach you? Pay attention – you never know what you might learn!

by Wayne Holmes Fear is another barrier to love. In fact, fear is the biggest barrier to love. Where there is fear, love is absent. Where love abides, fear is driven away. The beautiful thing about love is that no matter the situation, we can choose love over fear. No matter how much fear we might be experiencing, we can make a mental decision for love. When we choose love, miracles happen. I know of an incident of road-rage that was transformed by the power of love. A driver felt he had been cut off in traffic which caused him to spill his beer. He followed the car that he believed had created his predicament to the next exit where the other driver stopped for gas. He approached the car, accused the driver of costing him to lose his beer and demanded the beer be replaced. The tension was high and a fight seemed imminent. One of the passengers said to the man that in the name of Jesus he loved him. Silence fell over the situation. No one seemed to know what to say, and eventually the man turned and silently walked away. Love doesn’t necessarily avoid all danger, but when we call upon love, things change. Mostly, love changes us, and ultimately it affects those touched by it, even if they refuse to see it or believe it. When we live our lives in fear, we block love. When we allow love to rule our lives, we move beyond fear and become warriors of Love and Light. The Magnificent Rainbow It was a hot summer day, I was running errands as usual, my grand kids were fishing in a nearby creek with my daughter, the creek was one of their favorite places to explore and discover the wonders of nature. The weather reports were forecasting rain and storms for later in the day. As I was running through everything on my list of items I needed to get, I sat in the parking lot of a local supermarket. I looked down at my cell phone and received a text that kids were having fun and catching crawdads. I started to visualize what that may be like and just smiled knowing they were totally in their element.

Oct / Nov 2019

It was mid afternoon, I decided to head back home after making 3 stops to pick up some much needed items, I noticed the wind was picking up and starting to look cloudy, I texted my daughter and told her that where I was located, the sky was looking a bit odd and storms may be coming sooner than later. The creek can sometimes be filled with rushing water if it rains hard enough, so we always make sure the kids are back home safe and sound before it storms. As I was driving back I started to notice the sky turning purple, my cell phone rang and my daughter sounded a little worried explaining that the winds were blowing hard and the kids seemed a bit nervous. They did not want to ride their bikes back in what appeared to be a huge storm brewing, she asked if I could pick them up instead of riding their bikes back home. I told her of course I could and I will be there as soon as possible, and shortly another call came through and this time my daughter was very concerned and felt as though it was a bad idea to be where they were because the winds were stronger and it started to thunder with strikes of lightening. I told her to try and start to head back as I felt the woods would not be safe to stay as well, it would be better for them to start running towards home and I could meet up with them with my car. I stayed calm on the phone, so she could feel comforted knowing I was getting closer as fast as I could go without breaking any laws! It was really scary for me and I was in my car, but the winds were whipping around as the poring rains came with thunder and lightening in every turn. My daughter texted me next and stated the kids were just staying where they were as they seemed to be to fearful to leave the woods. I could sense they were all frightened and I found myself gripping the steering wheel. Within moments, it seemed a calmness came over me. I started to pray to all angels asking them to help me get my family to safety quickly. I asked them to please help me find a way to get them away from the woods and back home! The rain was so heavy at times it appeared to come down in buckets, but the closer I got to my home it looked as though it was starting to clear up with just a slow steady rain.

I finally began to approach my neighborhood and suddenly a car in front of me just stopped, no blinkers, nothing and I thought oh no, they must be having car trouble. Turns out she was taking a photo with her cell phone of a giant rainbow! I looked to my left and shifted my attention to the sky and could not believe it. As I was driving onto my street, I saw my grandsons running as fast as they could screaming out and pointing, “Look at the rainbow!” I don’t believe I have ever seen a rainbow so huge, and it was even better as I turned the corner, the rainbow was over our house totally glowing! I almost could not even comprehend it, I felt so relieved and full of joy when I saw my grandsons reaction over this wonderful and magnificent rainbow! What a unique and magical creation to get my grand kids moving in the right direction! I thanked the angels for coming to the rescue and being our guiding light that day by creating a safe harbor for my beloved family. – J.P.

Mtousic,Enlightenment the Path by Jill Mattson Enlightenment – Incredibly Easy! Many paths lead people along the long road to enlightenment – when one overcomes the difficulties of negativity in the world of duality. At the conclusion of the journey participants experience nothing but love. Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, service and devotion are examples of such paths to enlightenment. Today we introduce a new path… the road of sublime music! Music can be pleasurable, feel good and birth happiness. One can endlessly listen to music, even while doing other activities. Each uplifting listening experience adds a drop of positive energy to one’s fields. Music, which can engage and entertain, can be influencing us for the entire journey of self-improvement… making this an easier path to complete. As we listen to music, it overcomes us, by making us tap our feet, calm down or dance a jig. We match the vibrations and rhythms within the music. We can listen to music – until we become the music. We become the “mellow feeling of the serene melody” or mirror the dance-beat. When we “sync” with music – we blend with others doing the same thing, tapping into their collective energy/consciousness. Don’t birds, wind and rain all have their unique songs? Every movement made by a living thing creates sound – even if it is too tiny for us to notice it. All vibrations interact and even to tiny degrees influence one another. The music of nature – whether or not we can actually hear it – tunes, entrains and enters our energy fields. Notice how your consciousness changes after time spent in nature. We can blend with nature, until there is no separation between us and the livingbreathing world of nature. As we sink into nature (and its melodious vibrations) the illusionary boundaries between things and people disappear. When we are too busy to be out in nature, we can enjoy nature sounds through CDs and electronic media! Vibrations of sound become visible when they amass. Look to cymatics (check out cymatic You Tube videos). Observe sand on a metal plate - vibrating from sound

alone - forming recognizable shapes and intricate geometric patterns. In this way, we “see” sound creating form in matter. Sound allows us to see its shape – proof of its energy-influence in the world of matter. People are conscious of emotions. Think of a movie sound track or a song and how it makes you feel. In this way, we experience our consciousness with music. Our consciousness observes our own songs and energies. When we see ourselves in the outer material world in this manner, it is as if the “Knower becomes known to itself.” Each generation has its own preferred type of music AND general characteristics (baby boomers versus generation X, and Rock and Roll versus Rap). Music not only describes the group’s characteristics, but also creates them. The group’s music represents the group energies. By listening to the group’s music we experience the consciousness of the group. By listening, we can jump into their “vibrations” and experience a slice of their consciousness… which ultimately expands our consciousness. Sound, music and consciousness are not always visible. For example, the vibrations emitted from a flower are too tiny to hear, yet they influence us none-the-less. The invisible feelings of peace remains where the saint and the sage has sat. This feeling can influence the town, city and state - if the saint’s energy is powerful enough. A quantity of this energy must be amassed to see a result in our dense material world. One method to alter our consciousness and that of other listeners boils down to what are we ingesting in sound? And How much of a dosage do we get? The salvation of the world can be compared to a game of Risk or Monopoly – the largest quantity of energy, which can be found in pliable sounds and music – becomes the dominant song that the masses march to. In the game of Risk, players have different colored game pieces. Whoever has the most pieces wins the game. So if the game board is covered with blue, then blue wins and red loses, as it doesn’t have enough power. There is no struggle between good and evil – simply it is a game of amassing quantities of colored game pieces, which equates to power. Likewise, music and the world pool of vibrations can be compared to an impersonal game with the largest quantities of vibrations (expressed as music, feeling

Oct / Nov 2019

or thoughts) dominating. The greatest volume of a frequency/rhythm/melody overcomes or entrains another. So we must ponder: what are the songs that the world hears today? How many songs are injecting love versus chaos and destruction into our collective wave pool? How sincere are the singers? When you pray for people in a war torn area, such as Syria, your prayer is like adding a small colored piece on the game board. When you pray in song form – like a mantra or a hymn, and your intent is on uplifting Syria, you place a large game board piece into play. Sound can amplify power. Everyone can use their uplifting feelings and voice to “vote” on what should be the dominating subtle energy of the world. So what is your contribution to the global energy pool? Everything about you (thoughts, feeling, actions and health) is entered into the global vibrational energy pool. This can be a scary analogy, but there is great beauty in this analogy as well. You matter; your thoughts, feeling and actions can tip the balance of power. Most importantly - are you singing? Out of tune (or whatever) is fine, but use your voice as the powerful tool that it is. We can entrain and subconsciously mimic the sounds of love – an impersonal love (not a needy or controlling) that maintains and uplifts the world.

How to Observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month 1. Share a story Cancer survivors, family members, caregivers and medical professionals have a chance to share their perspectives on how cancer impacts their lives. Do an online search of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and you'll discover various organizations that have links to social media blogs, video platforms and more. Upload your story and feel proud that you are one more voice of victory against this disease. 2. Think pink Pink is the color du jour for October's campaign. Some people change their website's background colors to pink for the month. Others rummage through their closets and pull out pink everything — sweaters, scarves, hats, gloves, entire outfits — even wigs! Many workplaces hold Pink Days to encourage coworkers to get involved in the fight against breast cancer. 3. Raise some money October is the primary fundraising month for Breast Cancer Awareness and whatever you give is appreciated. Hold a raffle, coordinate a talent show or simply write a check. It all helps to fund life-saving cancer research. Large corporations use October to make mega-sized donations. On the smaller scale, fill up a dozen pink piggy banks and make your donation.
