Nature is always aware when there is a sense of renewal.

The crickets and frogs pay no mind to the rush of the water in the stream. The frog’s main concern is to find the nearest moss covered stone in order to sit and observe the wonders of it all.

Change Your Life with the Sound of Your Voice with Jill Mattson

Throughout antiquity spiritual groups placed solemn emphasis on sacred words. The Sufi master Hazrat Inyat Khan said, “As we delve into the mysteries of life we discover the whole secret is hidden in what we call words. All occult science, all mystical practices are based upon the science of the word or sound.”1 The powerful portion of a word is not its meaning, but its energy – its sound.

People carry energy and intent on their voices.

Jesus’ miracles were triggered by his commands. His personal energy attached to his words. We too can increase the power and quality of energy within our voices. Khan comments, “The fortunate person has a different voice than the one who is not so fortunate.

When you compare the voices of great people with the voices of others, there is a great difference.”2 Khan continues, “Healing that comes through a change of mind or feeling, instigated by personal will, simply does not have the sustaining power to be permanent or complete. True healing requires the transformational ability of sound.”3 Many masters agree. Theosophist Alice Baily wrote that only sound gives us transformative power to improve our personality. This sound could be a mantra or simple the sound of one’s voice.

Few people realize that they can change their life force with sound. Khan recommends, “One need not be a singer, but every person should give some part of his day, even the shortest time, five or ten or fifteen minutes, to the development of his voice.”4 Khan concludes, “From the voice, you can determine the stage of a person’s evolution. You do not need to see him; just his voice will tell you how far he has evolved.

There is no doubt that the character of a person is evident in his voice. And there comes a change in the voice with every step of spiritual evolution.”5 continued on pg. 4

The “YIPS”

by William L. Molitor, BCH, CI Many people will talk about the “Yips” with a strained smile on their face. One has to admit it is a funny sounding word associated to sports. But for those who have had the unlucky experience of having the yips know that it is not a laughing matter at all. For the parents who have watched their child struggle with not being able to physically do something that they had previously excelled at, such as gymnastics, base ball, tennis, golf or soccer, will not be smiling either.

Yips or “the yips” is the apparent loss of fine motor skills without any apparent explanation. This loss or deterioration of motor skills can happen to individuals in a number of different sports and activities. There is a technical term often associated with the yips called focal dystonia. Athletes affected by the yips will demonstrate a sudden, unexplained loss of previous skills.

When I receive a call from parents whose child has had an unexplained change in their abilities I will hear the same story nearly each time, only the names and ages seem to change. A young girl who was on track to win a National tile in gymnastics suddenly cannot perform a back hand spring. A young man, who had been an award winning catcher, out of the blue can’t throw the ball back to the pitcher. A high school tennis player who had been virtually unbeatable loses her ability to serve, or a soccer player who had very talented ball handling skills cannot pass or shoot the ball with any accuracy. They all were suffering from what seemed to be the Yips.

I have been seeing these types of clients for over twelve years and a high percentage of my clients have been able to return to their previous levels of skill or have reported an actual improvement in their skills after only a couple of sessions. Other side effects reported by the parents of my clients are a notable increase in self confidence and self-esteem.

There are many hypnotists that offer sports enhancement sessions that are comprised mainly of relaxation and visualization techniques, all of which

can have some benefits for the client. At The TriState Hypnosis Center we use advanced hypnosis techniques that are individually designed to personally address the issues or thoughts that create the unwanted change at the subconscious level. The Magic of Positive Thinking

Yes, there is magic in positive thinking! In aviation, the word attitude means the angle at which the plane meets the wind, whether the wings are level with the horizon, and whether it is climbing or descending. The pilot who fails to take responsibility for the attitude of his aircraft is in serious trouble. And likewise, any person who has not taken charge of his or her own beliefs and attitudes runs a similar risk. The key to cultivating and maintaining a positive mental attitude is to take control of your thinking and avoid negative minded people. It’s a challenging task to develop a calm, focused mind, but well worth the effort.

Every setback and failure you experience also comes with a great opportunity. When one door closes, a window of possibility opens. The key is to look for the opportunity and avoid dwelling on failure. Think thoughts of defeat and you are bound to feel defeated.

Your attitude is not determined by circumstances, but by how you respond to those circumstances.

You determine your attitude; you always have the choice to respond either positively or negatively.

What happens to a person is less important than what happens within them.

The great inventor, Thomas A. Edison, was known for his positive mental attitude. In December 1914, the Edison Laboratory in West Orange, New Jersey, was almost entirely destroyed by fire. Edison lost $2,000,000 worth of equipment and the records of much of his life’s work. The morning after the fire, as the 67-year-old inventor walked among the ashes, he was anything but defeated. Looking around, he remarked, “There is great value in disaster.

All our mistakes are burned up. Thank God we can start anew.” Yes, there is magic in a positive attitude!

Return to Sacred Union Reconciliation of the Sacred Masculine and the Sacred Feminine

by Charmian Redwood In ancient Lemuria when the Earth was the Garden of Eden and all was peace and harmony; men and women came together in sacred union. The purpose of Sacred Union was to attain a higher state of unity consciousness. It was used as a way to transform energy. There was exquisiteness about it; the aim was to bring each partner more fully into connection with the Oneness.

Couples were attracted to each other through being of similar vibration. There was intense passion and they felt they had a similarity of interest, drive, purpose and connection. They were similar to us in that they were drawn to each other by passion, magnetism and soul connection. They came together to balance male/female energies in an experience of Unity.

Couples came together in ceremony and passion to experience a greater Love by merging their individual love into a greater whole. In the beginning it was more an energetic exchange, but as our bodies became denser it became sexual although the union was always considered sacred and was greatly honored and revered. It was a celebration of the Male and Female energies coming together in perfect balance. Through ecstatic sacred union with The Beloved (soul partner) we could experience the ecstatic connection to The One, experiencing Source on a deeper, passionate, intimate level.

A man and a woman would choose to come together to offer themselves as sacred vessels for Union with The Divine. This sacred Union was considered to be the highest form of service to create a chalice for the Sacred Feminine and a chalice for the Sacred Masculine.

The combined energy contained the two polarities of the God Field, male and female. It brought a balance in. The focus of Sacred Union was always sacred, never just for physical pleasure. That wasn’t the reason or

purpose. As we moved increasingly into density, the Union became more sexual than energetic.

The purpose of the Union, at all times, was to create a vehicle for Pure Love to be brought to the Earth. It was a great honor to be invited into Union, to make The Great Marriage which was the highest honor anyone could offer to another. When we brought the energy of Union down into the physical it was very pure and sacred and the Marriage rites were always performed in the Great Temple. It was such a high form of energy and it was recognized as such and it felt like a privilege to be able to bring that as an offering to the community to bring the energy of Pure Love to the earth grids.

After The Fall (separation from God) the energies became distorted and the goal became physical pleasure, which was never the original intention. The Joy of Union was the original purpose and the physical energy was just the vehicle to achieve that. This ecstatic union is the essence of the Tantric teachings which Hindu and Tibetan schools still teach. When the couple came together in Sacred Union they connected in all seven chakras and their light bodies merged. Each person had their own matrix and when these two matrices merged they wove through each other and created a whole new geometry. This is how they created form, from liquid light.

Contact was first made through the eyes. For each couple there was a specific sequence of sounds, colors, tones and breath that connected the chakras and transformed the connection into an energetic light experience. The merging of their two light bodies in ecstatic union created an incredible energy field.

It was a total surrender to the energy of wholeness.

It looked like infinite expansion, the creation of a sphere, which grew into a vortex. There was a huge energy build-up in the sphere which was exquisite on the personal level and could be focused for the creation of any project. It could be fed into the wholeness matrix to sustain the wholeness field which underlay everything. It could also be focused into the creation of a child or used in the manifestation of anything that they needed to bring into form.

The druids used this energy to assist crops to grow and to keep all the kingdoms in balance. Ancient

Egyptians and Native Americans used the sexual rites to create high frequency energy for initiating students. The true purpose of Tantra is to experience the Divine through ecstatic union.

After the Fall, sexual energy became desecrated and the temple priestesses were held in slavery and prostitution. It is now time for sexual energy to be returned to the temple where it becomes a vehicle for the experience of pure and holy love.

From my many years as a hypnotherapist I have conducted thousands of past life regressions. I have found that the major wound that most women are carrying is from sexual abuse and having children where there was no love. Women were bought and sold for their bodies either because they were poor or they were wealthy and were sold in marriage or forced into prostitution and sexual slavery. Memories of the abuse are held in the uterus and ovaries and unless removed can cause cancer or other diseases.

The earth has been dominated by distorted male energy for thousands of years which has involved the domination of women by men and the abuse of men by being disconnected from their emotions. The wound that men are carrying concerns being sent off to die in far off lands for political or religious causes and having to be de-sensitized emotionally to be able to be a fighting machine or to work in mindless, soul destroying jobs.

Many of the relationships that we have been in this lifetime are karmic residue from people we have lost our power to, been abused by or have lost to war or disease. This is the last lifetime that we can clear any karmic debts because we have moved out of time and out of the third dimension.

It is time now for both feminine and masculine energies to be healed and for the balance to be restored. In many ways men have been more damaged by patriarchy than women, they have not been allowed to express their emotions and have been turned into logical thinking machines without feelings. Men have been sacrificing themselves by spilling their blood for senseless wars and women have been sacrificing themselves by staying in toxic relationships trying to heal or “fix” men. We have left the Age of Pisces

which was about martyrdom and sacrifice, it is time to move out of sacrifice of any kind and into selfrealization in the Age of Aquarius.

Many women have been attempting to heal the masculine energy by being in relationship with very wounded men and vice versa. It is time now to end this cycle of rescuing and fixing the “other’ through our bodies. We need to move forward now with men and women walking together as equal and separate beings, each one whole in themselves and coming together as equal partners.

In my hypnotherapy sessions I take clients to look at the contracts they have with their family and partners, to see what negative beliefs about relationship are being carried from the past and to call in a balanced and whole relationship of Sacred Union.

Hypertension or High Blood Pressure? What & Why?

In today’s society high blood pressure is very common, but why is this? It is the cause of many heart attacks, aneurysms, and headaches. There are several things that can be done to avoid the excessive blood pressure readings more than 120/80 spgometer readings.

What you may ask? First of all, lifestyle is something to consider. Staying up late at night, and getting up early in the morning, therefore not getting enough sleep. This doesn’t allow your body to do its house cleaning while you are asleep, which is necessary to allow your body to function in a normal manner. This creates a lot of stress on the adrenal glands, which will initiate an elevation in the blood pressure. The adrenal glands are trying to speed up the function of the heart and all of the organs that keep your body running because of the lack of sleep.

The heart rate is speeded up, your thyroid goes on a faster pace, your liver has to work harder, the kidneys are in high gear and the brain, believe it or not, is on a fast pace, at least it is supposed to accelerate it’s function in order to keep everything running at a high speed.

In many situations the blood is too acidic, which will cause your organs to swell and malfunction. The posterior pituitary may be the cause of this event. The posterior pituitary gland in your head controls the acidity and alkalinity in your body. This gland requires potassium in order to be functional. The craving for chocolate is saying to your body that it needs potassium.

This is also an indicator that the first vertebra in your neck is displaced to the right. The posterior pituitary only controls two hormones, but two very important ones. The ADH or anti-diuretic and oxytosin which are the two hormones that are secreted by the posterior pituitary gland which sits in the sphenoid bone just behind your eyes in your head. The functioning of this gland is very important because your body is 60%-80% water and this gland is responsible for controlling the water levels in your body. This gland is many times responsible for the blood pressure being elevated. When you are considering that your body is to a major degree, water. This gland plays a big role in swelling and the

tension placed on the heart when you are under a lot of stress. Particularly, if you smoke, because the nicotine in cigarette smoke will constrict the size of arteries throughout your body. This causes an elevation in blood pressure when the arteries are trying to distribute the blood throughout your body through some very narrow pathways. It makes the transportation of blood go faster, and the pressure becomes elevated.

Also when the diet is that of a lot of fats and sweets, atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries occurs which will cause a narrowing of the arteries. This narrowing will also cause an increase in blood pressure. Drinking too much coffee or liquor will cause the restriction of the blood flow. This happens when there is too much caffeine from coffee. This causes the adrenal gland to react. This is why we drink the first cup of coffee in the morning when we get up. It serves as your accelerator pedal to get you going. One cup is all you need and are allowed. I had a patient who could not remember how many cups he drank, but could remember how many pots he drank instead. I asked him “how many cups were in each pot?” His reply was “twelve cups.” This meant that he was drinking 72 cups of coffee per day. He had just been a resident for six months in the psychiatric ward of Miami Valley Hospital. I was thinking that if I drank 72 cups of coffee per day I would have done likewise. Needless to say his blood pressure was off the charts, so to speak.

Anxiety can create dramatic temporary spikes in your blood pressure. You may be saying, “what causes anxiety?” Many times it is the lack of biotin, which is a water soluble “B” vitamin that is necessary for transporting cholesterol to the spleen and gonads (testicles and ovaries) where in the spleen it is used to make red and white blood cells. If the cholesterol does not get transported to these organs, anxiety occurs.

Just think, smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, arguing with your spouse, or overeating can sometimes create anxiety. However, the medical answer to this problem is serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, (SNRIs) which can raise your blood pressure.

The best rule is “don’t do either one” and there will not be a reason to take any medication which has side effects.

Not only alcoholic beverages, but also soda pops have a direct affect on the kidneys. When the kidneys get swollen due to the intake of carbolic acid from carbonation in pop, the sodium and potassium levels will get upset and cause a backup of blood pressure.

Remember, all the blood has to be cleansed by going through the kidneys.

It’s always a good idea to periodically check out the energy of our situation and see if the energy that was originally in play is still moving in the same direction.

When you eat too much ice cream, or drink too much milk you will cause a hardening of the arteries. Not only this, but also trauma to the head which causes the tilting of a bone behind your eyes to the right will affect the water content of your body and the acidity which is called “diabetes” or hyperacidosis, or the blood being too acidic. Also, too much coffee will add to this acidity. This affects the posterior pituitary gland that controls the acid-base balance in your body. The trauma can be corrected via manipulation if the doctor has been trained to do so.

Knowing in advance there has been a change of energy in the day to day events in our lives allows us to make a better decision for ourselves. It allows time for us to choose a different path before we find ourselves entangled in something that is not easy to get out of. We can avoid relationships that tend to drain us of energy. We can make a better career choice for ourselves etc. We want to watch the kind of energy we give out most of the time, for it is almost certain it will be reflected in kind, back to us in lots of different ways. We want to always believe in second chances and give others a helping hand, it creates a way for us to be redeemed should we ever unintentionally do something we are less than proud of.

All the above are clues and many more of what may be the causes of an elevated blood pressure.

Speaking Their Language

One definition of communication is “two or more individuals sharing and understanding an idea” (Parelli Principle #3). When you consider this definition in the context of the relationship between a human and an animal, it seems almost impossible to understand how even the possibility of clear communication could exist. But, as we all know, it does. How? The first thing that we have going in our favor is that both we and animals use body language to communicate. We humans tend to rely more on shared verbal or sign language when we communicate with each other, but when it comes to our animals, this can get very tricky. Our cat may not comprehend what “get off the counter top now!” means, but they do observe us having a tense body posture, gesturing hands, grimacing faces, and terse vocalization at that moment. They can tell we are not pleased about something involving them. Over time, if the cat repeatedly gets on the counter top, and we repeatedly ask them to get down in the same way, they come to understand that “off” and “countertop” has something to do with where they are. Being cats, of course, they

may or may not choose to please you by getting down.

However, you and your cat have communicated.

Our animals, no matter if we are talking about a teacup Poodle or a horse or our pet iguana, read our body language and glean a lot of information about us from that. They learn that certain body postures and facial expressions mean we are pleased or upset or relaxed.

When we add vocalizations that we repeat consistently in certain situations, they begin to associate those words with the matching body language as our cat did above. What makes this so fascinating is that we learn to read their body language and vocalizations too. For example, if you live with a dog, you come to understand the difference between the body posture and bark of “I see the barn cat!” and “Intruder!

Danger!” and “Let’s Play!” If you work with horses, observing their body language, facial expressions, and ear and tail positions tell you a lot about what kind of mood they are in. If you are thinking about riding that same horse, your life may depend upon how well you read those signs. For example, if I walk out to the barn to play with and ride Cheyenne, and

The secret is no longer a secret. This ancient knowledge that has been guarded for so long is now being made known for those who are on their path to ascension and who are seeking a loving, peaceful life.

So, what is this knowledge? It is: The Sacred Space of the Heart and The Tiny Space of the Heart.

Cheyenne and I recently went to Tennessee to participate in a 5 day class with 29 other horses and riders. What I learned during those 5 days, more than anything else, is how to communicate better with my horse. I learned that if I applied constant pressure on the reins to ask her to stop or back up, she would apply constant pressure right back at me as a way of saying “NO I don’t like that!”. Instead, what we learned together is that if I politely lifted the rein, and she did not respond, I released and then gently lifted the rein again, and repeated this until she figured out what I wanted and did it. We had a conversation, instead of behaving like two little kids yelling “NO” at each other. We began to communicate with each other in a way we both liked and understood. By the end of the week, I could ask her to stop by simply focusing on where I wanted her to stop, stopping the riding motion, and sitting still. We indeed were communicating much better together. Riding was a lot more fun for us both.

Most have seen the picture of Jesus with the sacred heart and band of thorn around it. We usually associate the thorns with his crucifixion. What is the sacred heart. Is Jesus the only one who had a sacred heart? The answer is no. Everyone has a sacred heart, but everyone is not enlightened to this knowledge. In addition, we each have a Tiny Space of The Heart.

When one enters the Sacred Space of the Heart, you feel the pure female energy of love. This sacred space is love, peace and joy. There is no other place in the universe where this can be felt. The Tiny Space of the Heart is where all creation takes place. A place where dreams can manifest and a place to connect with God and our Higher Self and others.

For all of us who love and live with animals, our ultimate goal is to have the best relationship we can with them. In order to do that, we must lead the way by observing them, learning their language (body postures, facial expressions, vocalizations, ear and tail sets), and helping them to better understand ours.

Once we understand each other better, we can begin to find a common way to share ideas together. Have fun experimenting with this, and happy summer to all!

I went to a chiropractor (not to this one) for a brief time with no relief.

Dear Sage Woman, I have been working for the same company for thirty-five years. I started right out of high school and have worked my way up, yet there is no passion in my life for what I do and it’s a little depressing. I feel I’m now too old to go after a completely different career because I am so close to retirement. I daydream every day of doing something.

What should I do? My family needs my salary to continue the lifestyle we currently have.

We create a lifestyle around the income we earn, and in time, realize that the income is not our passion. It is our survival. You must first congratulate yourself on building a career over the years as well as be in gratitude for all that it has brought you and that you are near retirement. Of course, you have options, ranging from the radical to the sensible.

Perhaps you have lost passion not in your job but in your own existence? This happens over time when we are living to survive and get caught up in the rat race. Dig deep into your self and find out what your passions are. You are never too old to begin something new. We become old when we think we are and give up on our dreams. Some of the most

amazing pieces of art and literature have come from people in there sixties and seventies. If you do not wish to disrupt the income in your home, then now is the time to begin researching options to begin fueling your new adventures after retirement.

You must put yourself first and take some of your time and income to invest in yourself, discovering what your true life’s purpose is. This may a good time to do some soul searching and rediscover what you always wanted to “be” when you grew up. Many people approaching retirement use such time in between to take classes, workshops, or begin a specific pathway for a new passion-based career.

Once they are retired, for example, they have already begun their new enterprise on the side.

More radically speaking, if you are especially brave and desire to be completely true to yourself: you downsize! Take a leap of faith completely by changing your lifestyle. The effort requires intelligence and compromise and is not for the faint of heart.

My heart’s advise to you personally is to take some time to search yourself and listen for the answers. Write down each of your varying ideas and dreams about how you would spend time beyond your current career. Now is also a great time to do some volunteer work and give back to something you are deeply committed to. The Painful Process

by Pastor Wayne Holmes The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love.Hubert H. Humphrey Recovery is painful. I get it. I know this to be true because I recall how painful it was for me to leave the religion I’d known my entire life. In retrospect I’m grateful now that I did, but at the time I had no clue what positive things were to come into my life after I made a break with the past. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with the group I was associated with—in fact I was the square peg that didn’t fit into the round hole. If anything, I had become the problem.

I’m not surprised when people who show an interest in Religious Recovery fail to darken the doors of one of our meetings. In fact, I’ve come to anticipate that most people are not comfortable with the concept yet, or simply not ready to undertake the painful process of recovery. I’m also aware of the fear that some have of a new program that hasn’t been widely established. I’m certain Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and other self-help programs took a while to catch on. But for a few brave souls, healing from religious abuse is happening through the mutual love and support of the Religious Recovery program.

It’s not easy. I’m not saying the program isn’t easy, but a commitment to make the changes necessary isn’t easy.

Recovery is a healing process, and it takes work. One huge drawback on the part of some individuals is an unwillingness to face the pain. I’ve spoken with different individuals who have told me that they didn’t need our program because they’ve already recovered from their religious abuse, only to watch as tears flowed down their cheeks. If they have recovered, their tears seem to indicate a reminder of how painful the healing process was.

But—and I suspect this is true in some cases—the tears might also be an indication that the healing isn’t quite complete, and more can be accomplished. I know this to be true in my own life. Each week as I listen and share at meetings, I find areas where it seems a little more healing touches a different area of brokenness in my life.

Another drawback for some is the realization that recovery might also entail forgiving the person or the religion that abused them. Forgiving ourselves and others is difficult and painful, and the process cannot be rushed. Each person forgives in his own way and time, but realizing that forgiveness is needed is the first step.

Arugula

The Salad Rocket

Arugula is a special leafy herb most commonly used in salads and is a popular choice to create many unique and flavorful combinations in culinary delights.

This salad green has been named “Salad Rocket� because of its speedy growth in a garden. The flowers, seeds and seed pods of Arugula are edible.

Arugula has a peppery flavor that enhances any garden salad and can be used for toppings, baked breads and pasta. It is also an excellent choice to serve with fish and meats, and can be eaten raw or cooked.

Enriched with Vitamin C, arugula has healing antioxidants providing a major benefit for your body.

This green herb has large amounts of chlorophyll, which helps to cleanse the blood, detoxify and heal disease while boosting oxygen levels.

Arugula consists of high levels of Vitamin K which play an important role in bone health. Considered a cancer-fighting food, arugula also contains potassium.

This hydrating leafy green is composed of a large

amount of water which helps to create a cooling effect on the body. It is perfect for summer salads.

To store arugula, first remove tough stems and place in a large bowl of cool water, gently swish the leaves, let any dirt fall to the bottom of bowl. Lift clean leaves out and lay them on several layers of paper towels until moisture is absorbed. It is best to roll the leaves up in dry paper towels and store them in a freezer bag in the refrigerator, this way arugula can last up to a week.

Do you need some spice in your life? Go ahead and try it if you are not already familiar with the zippy arugula herb and create a new picnic favorite that your family will enjoy. The healing benefits of consuming this little green leaf are amazing!

Strawberry Arugula Fruit Salad with Ricotta Topping INGREDIENTS:

DIRECTIONS:

• 4 pints strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced into quarters

• 1-2 cups sliced almonds

In a food processor blend the ingredients as follows: Nuts and cheese, Garlic and lemon juice and zest, Arugula, Olive oil. Continue to blend until a fine paste is made. You may need to drizzle extra olive oil to get smooth and shiny texture.

• 1 small bunch baby arugula, sliced into thin ribbons

This pesto is excellent for pasta being served with white fleshed fish.

• Kosher salt

• 1 pint raspberries, washed and blotted dry

• 2 lemons, zested and juiced • 1 ½ cups fresh, drained ricotta cheese • 2 tablespoons honey (or substitute) • ½ teaspoon nutmeg DIRECTIONS: Toss the strawberries, raspberries, almonds, and sliced arugula with a pinch of kosher salt and the zest of 1 lemon.

For the dressing: In a separate bowl, mix the lemon juice and remaining lemon zest with the ricotta, honey, and nutmeg. Taste and sweeten to taste, if necessary.

Serve the salad with the dressing on the side.

A Healthy Style: Good for General Maintenance

by Elaine Hruska Suppose you do not have a particular or serious health condition that warrants a certain regimen of treatment, but would like to incorporate into your wellness plan a variety of remedies as preventative measures. From among the hundreds of items and treatments in the Edgar Cayce readings given to specific individuals, how can you determine those most beneficial for you to keep you healthy? Though a bit difficult to locate, certain suggestions and advice were noted to be well FOR ALL to follow. Here are some of those items that you may want to consider adding to your health plan:

glands is such as to keep the throat and the bronchi in a much healthier condition. Bolting food or swallowing it by the use of liquids produces more colds than ANY ONE activity of a diet! Even milk or water should be CHEWED two to three times before taken into the stomach itself, for this makes for the proper assimilation of the lacteal activity in the system; and when being acted upon by the gastric flow of the hydrochlorics in the duodenum area, it is better assimilated and gives more value in the whole of the body.” (808-3) The better we chew our food, the less work for our digestive system to break it down into smaller particles.

We also become more aware of our food, enhancing our enjoyment of the meal and increasing its capacity to nourish our bodies.

Lettuce. One of the most recommended vegetables in the readings, lettuce supplies us with vitamins A, C, and folic acid, plus potassium and iron. Rich in chlorophyll, it helps detoxify our bodies. The deep-green variety (romaine, escarole, curly endive, or leaf lettuce) is preferable to head lettuce (like iceberg), which contains fewer vitamins and minerals.

Drinking Water. To help flush and cleanse the kidneys, the readings frequently suggested drinking six to eight glasses of water daily.

“At least two quarts [eight cups] of water should be taken a day by everyone. At a period [one] would drink a glass to three-quarters of a glass, or a tumbler of water.”

“Plenty of lettuce should always be eaten by most EVERY body; for this supplies an effluvium in the blood stream itself that is a destructive force to MOST of those influences that attack the blood stream. It’s a purifier.”

(404-6)

Spinal Adjustments. Osteopathic adjustments “are well for anybody occasionally, and—to be sure—MOST desirable throughout a period of pregnancy.” (1523-12) “To keep the proper coordination, the whole of the adjustments throughout is very good... (Of course, improperly given, they are injurious—but adjustments at all at times) are beneficial to the body—any body!”

“Of course, lettuce should ever be in the diet of EVERYONE, for it exhumes that which prevents infectious forces for ANY developing body.” (7-year-old girl; 1179-1) “One leaf of lettuce will destroy a thousand worms.”

(3-year-old girl troubled by pinworms; 2015-10) Outside Activities. Working indoors is “Not detrimental to the general health of body, though when it is practical outside activities are advisable, of course, as for everyone.”

(3497-1) “Wherever the body may be more in the open is better.

Everyone should stay close to the earth.” (4007-1) Chewing Food. “...for each and every body there should be the thorough mastication. For if this is done the activity of the glands in the mouth and the salivary

Relaxation. In a reading for an osteopath, who was trying to conserve his energy: “...there should not be an overtaxing of the body; and there should be periods of relaxation, as there must be in everyone’s experience.”

(1334-2) Exercise. Those readings that specifically advise exercise often describe the type to be carried out by the individual.

“It’s well that each body, every body, take exercise to counteract the daily routine activity, so as to produce rest. Walking is the best exercise for this body; preferably in the evening.” (416-3)

This advice mirrors the last phrase of the familiar adage: After breakfast, work a while; after lunch, rest a while; after dinner, walk a mile.

Olive Oil. “Be well for everyone to take olive oil...Take it every two or three hours, the small quantities, for two or three days, then leave it off altogether for two or three days!” (644-1) “Olive Oil is good for anybody...Just take what the body will assimilate. A few drops four or five times a day is excellent, for it is an intestinal food not excelled in scarcely anything else.” (348-17) In countries where olive oil is consumed extensively, a low incidence of cardiovascular diseases is reported.

It has a beneficial effect on blood cholesterol levels, is easily digested, stimulates metabolism, and promotes digestion.

Eliminants. The importance of this standard, common component as a health therapy is reflected in this excerpt: “Keep the eliminations in the system (that is, through the intestinal tract) acting normally and properly, even though enemas and cleansing of the colon [are] resorted to—which is well for anyone to do, for through same many re-infections take place by overtaxing the system with drosses from fermentation as takes place in ascending or [transverse] colon.” (5712-1) “For, EVERY one—everybody—should take an internal bath occasionally, as well as an external one. They would all be better off if they would!” (440-2) Colonics and enemas were the “internal baths” most frequently recommended.

Sleep. How much sleep is best for you? One woman in her reading was told: “Six to seven hours is good enough for anyone, and yet under the stress and strain some may require ten to twelve.” (5449-4) In general people who sleep well are happier and healthier.

When sleep is poor or inadequate, people feel tired or fatigued, which negatively affects work productivity and relationships. A proper amount of sleep improves one’s quality of life.

Seeking Assurance

by Michael McAdams As we endeavor to successfully navigate our sojourn in this existence we encounter and deal with life on physical, emotional, and intelligential levels.

To these we must also add the spiritual level. Some manifest their experience on this level as religion.

Some upon a belief in the oneness of God, nature, and mother Earth. Others seek a more direct and personal communication with that higher consciousness that portends a greatness of Spirit that is our inheritance as we truly are sons and daughters of the Living God. It is said that we are not allowed to remember what we are outside this physical existence but that does not prohibit communication with that higher level of consciousness and God’s direct representatives until such time as we cross over advancing to the next level of that which we are destined to be. Many believe that on the other side is an eternal heavenly abode where bliss and peace await. Others believe in an eternal life of progress and a progression of existence ever advancing and achieving until we have earned the right to stand in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Until then we make our way striving always in thought, and word, and deed to be beloved sons and daughters in whom our Heavenly Father is well pleased. Man, as a creature of doubts and fears, seeks assurance that his efforts to live a good life are not unobserved and are appreciated on a level far above that which we can comprehend but in reality exists as close as our heartbeat. Our conscious and purposeful connection with the divine that resides within our beings enables a closeness of spirit that opens the door to communication with our spirit teachers. The desires and intentions of our heart are the key that allows the reception of these communications to be made known to our minds.

From the Urantia Book comes this account of a teaching and sermon by Jesus in the temple at Jerusalem. One of the great sermons which Jesus preached in the temple this Passover week was in answer to a question asked by one of his hearers, a man from Damascus. This man asked Jesus: “But, Rabbi, how shall we know of a certainty that you are sent by God, and that we may truly enter into this kingdom which you and your disciples declare is near at hand?” And Jesus answered:

“As to my message and the teaching of my disciples, you should judge them by their fruits. If we proclaim to you the truths of the spirit, the spirit will witness in your hearts that our message is genuine. Concerning the kingdom and your assurance of acceptance by the heavenly Father, let me ask what father among you who is a worthy and kindhearted father would keep his son in anxiety or suspense regarding his status in the family or his place of security in the affections of his father’s heart? Do you earth fathers take pleasure in torturing your children with uncertainty about their place of abiding love in your human hearts?

Neither does your Father in heaven leave his faith children of the spirit in doubtful uncertainty as to their position in the kingdom. If you receive God as your Father, then indeed and in truth are you the sons of God. And if you are sons, then are you secure in the position and standing of all that concerns eternal and divine sonship. If you believe my words, you thereby believe in Him who sent me, and by thus believing in the Father, you have made your status in heavenly citizenship sure. If you do the will of the Father in heaven, you shall never fail in the attainment of the eternal life of progress in the divine kingdom.

“The Supreme Spirit shall bear witness with your spirits that you are truly the children of God. And if you are the sons of God, then have you been born of the spirit of God; and whosoever has been born of the spirit has in himself the power to overcome all doubt, and this is the victory that overcomes all uncertainty, even your faith.

“Said the Prophet Isaiah, speaking of these times: ‘When the spirit is poured upon us from on high, then shall the work of righteousness become peace, quietness, and assurance forever.’ And for all who truly believe this gospel, I will become surety for their reception into the eternal mercies and the everlasting life of my Father’s kingdom. You, then, who hear this message and believe this gospel of the kingdom are the sons of God, and you have life everlasting; and the evidence to all the world that you have been born of the spirit is that you sincerely love one another.”

Taking Care of Yourself with Soul Crafting

“When you do things from your soul, You feel a river moving in you, A joy.” ~ Rumi How are you doing? Frequently this is how we greet our friends and acquaintances when we run into them on the street. Some of us, including me, have been known to reply in detail thinking the question was not only sincere but literally inquisitive. What are we saying to others when we greet them with our concern for their well being? We do so much from habit that sometimes these are friendly but empty words. Yet, what our question to them is saying is that we are interested in them, care for them, and we are curious as to how they are doing. We have to wonder what it says about current society as this concern for someone’s health and happiness moves to a stronger interest in what they are doing. What’s up with that?

“Be heedful” says the Buddha. The definition of heedfulness includes being careful, attentive, thoughtful and aware. We frequently say to those we care about to take care or stay safe along with our good-byes. In saying this we are urging them to keep themselves safe, to be aware, to stay well, and to take good care of themselves. Relative to our level of closeness it can range from being said casually and with lightheartedness, to being said with very deep feeling showing how much we love some one special in our lives and how important it is to us that they stay well, safe, and are happy.

Are you a caregiver at home or in your field of work? If so, take a look at the pad under the little finger in your palm for a number of fine or thick vertical lines. If they are cross hatched, you need to be giving some of that care back to yourself. How do you do that, you ask. I think it’s important that you replenish and nourish yourself. If you are empty or nearing empty the quality and likely the quantity of what you can give is diminished.

I believe that we are spirit experiencing the material world in a physical body. Sometimes it becomes a habit to provide nourishment for our physical self, fulfilling material desires and needs, while neglecting to take care of our selves, our souls.

There are many ways to nourish your soul. The most common practice by people from all walks of life is to set apart a special period of time, sometimes weekly, even daily, to give gratitude and praise to the One they see as their Creator, God, Great Spirit or the encompassing totality of the whole Universe in all its glory and awesomeness.

Feeling the sense of satisfaction at accomplishing something as well as expressing a sense of your self though a form of performance, presentation, crafting, or other productivity is nourishing to the soul.

So often our daily lives consist of mundane, routine details and tasks. Our work may have become habitual or confined to a need to follow established procedures. We sometimes find we have little time or energy for creative expression leading to feeling bored and in a rut. We need to then find something to break the monotony and allow for innovation and inspiration to return.

A fun way to get the creative juices flowing and to stimulate ideas is to play around with your own creativity. Creativity doesn’t have anything to do with talent. It can be expressed through art, writing, music, dance, gardening, and so much more. Allow your imagination to be free and unlimited. This offers me the opportunity to introduce and welcome you to Soul Crafting with Sage and Patti.

Sage Woman and I created Soul Crafting as a way to combine our common interests and work together in our shared space we’ve rented at the Lebanon Elemental Om yoga studio. We offer tools for you to nourish your soul and to take care of yourself.

What is Soul Crafting? After we spent time together making lists of what we could each offer and what to call what we do separate from our individual work, we tossed back and forth some key words and phrases that described us. When the words Soul Crafting were said – that was it – here were two words that totally described the work (and play) we wanted to do together and with community. Later searching on-line we found a definition in wiktionary that described “soul craft” as something that is “nourishing to the soul, particularly fulfilling work or other activity - something that shapes and modifies one’s soul or core being.” That so perfectly fits our intentions for Soul Crafting.

We both love working with people to guide them in recognizing who they are by helping identify their purpose and shed light on their life path. We encourage nourishing your soul. We do this by offering a variety of modalities, some are for free, and others we request donations or ask for very affordable fees to cover expenses and space.

There are three regularly scheduled events spread throughout the month starting with 1st Saturday Soul Crafting Workshop.

This takes place on the first Saturday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. Materials and instruction are provided for making

a variety of creative projects with your own hands. We work with a variety of classic and new craft techniques that are easy to do and result in a unique gift or keepsake that you made yourself. This process provides a relaxed sense of productiveness, accomplishment and individual creative expression. It is stimulating to the mind, heart, body and soul. Finished creations have a little of your heart and soul within them. This is a fun activity to come and share on your own, bring a friend or family member. We have good music, light refreshments and great conversation as well as creative inspiration.

In the middle of the month we have our Third Friday Wyld Womyn Drumming Circle. Let down your hair, open up your heart and free your spirit. Drumming is healing. Coming together in a circle of rhythm, song, and sharing is so uplifting for the spirit and soul! We are a new drumming circle and sending out the energy for drawing to us complementary and like minded free spirited wild women to join us! We always have a good time, each gathering develops its own unique personality and energy. Please feel welcome to come. Bring your drum, rattle or other rhythm or music maker, dancing energy, voice or just your self. We have extras to share.

Take a half hour at the end of the month and join us in our Last Sunday Guided Meditation. Last Sunday of the month from 10:45 to 11:15 am. Sage Woman guides us on a Spiritual Journey into our soul while we return to the present with a short period of Shamanic Drumming which is often guided by the hands of unseen spirits that have joined us each time.

The Unconscious Fleecing of American’s Health

by Marti Jackson RN, BSN In the past 60 years, a number of things have influenced our lives and health so slowly and unconsciously that the cumulative effect may have cost our employer his company, or employees their jobs as the employer was forced to downsize. Moreover, much of this cumulative effect may personally cost you your bank account if you become a victim while being held hostage to the present American lifestyle.

When health insurance benefits began in the 1940’s, Americans essentially gave up being responsible for their own health. As mechanization in the 1940’s and 1950s, and computerization in the 1970s and 1980s, invaded all aspects of our life – work site, home, transportation, and leisure – activity and muscle power began a decline. The fast food industry met a need for the emerging two job families and became a way of life. The decreasing fruit, vegetable, and whole grain intake, and, increasing fats, sugar, refined flour and processed food intake, led to the waning of individual energy, increase in obesity, and the undermining of health. Because of diet and inactivity, we became too tired to schedule or participate in any kind of simple exercise. Smoking, of course, quadruples the problem. And I just learned that not exercising every day is equivalent to smoking 2 packs of cigarettes every day.

As this destructive lifestyle continues, so does the erosion of our health. We surf the television channels with a remote control, push a few buttons to microwave a meal, and then when chest pains begin, we want a microwave cure. Not possible. And our very lifestyle changes drastically as unplanned vacations are spent in hospital beds, the doctors and pharmacists share our bank account, and breathing becomes frequently more burdensome as energy escapes us for even the simplest of pleasures. In 1980s, health care costs escalated rapidly. It has only been relatively recently, perhaps the last 15 years that we became aware of the tremendous impact that these negative lifestyle changes have had on each of us. By the 1990s, corporations, insurance companies, and

the U.S. Government were all reluctant to pay for ‘prevention’ of diseases.

Have we saved money for such catastrophic diseases?

We can put ourselves back in the driver’s seat and be responsible for our own health! Heart disease is preventable, and reversible in 2 or 3 years. Positive lifestyle changes are more fun and much less expensive than heart disease. We need to actively encourage and support each other to enable positive life style changes to occur, just as we shared the health insurance costs for all these years. Healthy lifestyle changes need to be the norm, not the exception, with encouragement and support from our insurance companies, community and media. What better place than in the work place setting to begin working toward saving our job and making Americans healthier! I give accolades to a small but increasing numbers of work place sites that incorporated gyms in their settings with time allotted for employees to workout. Some even have personal trainers on site.

Meal preparation is a newer experience for most who are incorporating dietary excellence for their families. We also have come to rely on the mighty Multi-Vitamin, thinking it would bridge the gap. The December 2013 issue of Annals of Internal Medicine (the research journal for all the family practice doctors) stated that the Multi-Vitamins do no good and can do harm for many of the dreaded chronic diseases. Do NOT take. The answers after years of research are in Whole food. The ‘team’ of nutrients are missing in Multi-Vitamins. What is natural are the nutrients in their original form – in food – where they exist in combination with thousands and thousands of other nutrients. Team Players! The balance is correct. That is Whole Food. Join me. Together we can win back our health and enjoy a quality of living. One day as I was standing at the bus stop waiting for the bus to come, a woman who was about middle age joined me. We began to make small talk.

After the bus arrived and we were both seated, she said she had just come from the doctor’s office and that she was on her way to The Drop Inn Center downtown. The Drop Inn is a place for suffering addicts and alcoholics to obtain some food and lodging for a 30 day period. They are expected each day to leave the premises and look for work, and then return there to sleep.

She spoke fondly of her grandchildren, and her eyes lit up when she described the short time she was able to be with them this past Christmas. (I didn’t press her for the details of what her relationship was with the children’s father.)

She didn’t seem to be looking for a handout, but rather just to have someone who would listen to her.

As I was getting off the bus, I gave her a $5.00 bill and said: “Buy yourself a sandwich.” She looked both stunned and grateful.

The very next morning, when I got my mail from the mailbox, in it was a coupon from a restaurant I had never been to. The coupon read: Free sandwich, no strings attached.” This time it was MY turn to be stunned and grateful!

Your ruling planet, Mercury, true to form with the idea of double, started this period in Gemini, but no sooner got into Cancer when it retrograded back into Gemini, where it seems to have discovered that there was more on the plate that needed to be addressed about what you want! The good news is that you are feeling positive about some new plans for your future, and where you want to go. The only glitch in all this seems to occur in some obligations in the employment area, and some adjustments that must be made financially speaking. Expenses seem to be focused on home and family matters, and we would assume that the Mercury retrograde has you taking a bit more time than usual making decisions.

Cancer June 22-July 22

You start this period checking things out in the background, which could simply mean you are trying to finish up some loose ends, or are concerned about health or wellbeing of siblings. The new and full moons from end of June to mid July are focused on significant others, or with a background of family affairs. There does seem to be a great deal of activity at home base, possibly “fixing up the area for spring.” Meanwhile, on the job, there appear to be sudden changes in position or management. Some lovely activity appears to be surfacing in the house of pleasure and recreation, with a strong possibility of an old flame returning. Look for the end of July to find some well deserved money in your pocketbook.

Leo July 22 – August 22

Well, your royal highness, you seem to be double checking on so many activities that might have been overlooked or some that need to resolved. Family matters are quite important right now, and you appear to be completing some significant work that is climaxing, in a manner of speaking, shall we say. The concern and obligations that have been consuming you will soon bear fruit, and you can start looking forward to “your place in the sun” again, which will be coming up in the middle of July, so don’t be annoyed at the necessary overhauls on home

Virgo August 22 – September 22

Well, you are busy, busy, as usual, and the area of your life that is getting extra attention is on the job, or your role as head of family. It’s possible that relatives, especially siblings make be looking to you for direction. To add to all of this, Mercury, your ruling planet, is retrograde and it would not be surprising if you have to re-do the work that others may have left for you. Also, of some concern is the area of the wheel that refers to partners, and they might be indifferent to your concern, but perhaps you can ferret out the best program that they would need, health wise. . You also could be spending money for members of the family (which is actually fine with you) as their health and well being is of significant importance to you.

For one who enjoys a certain amount of peace and order, this is not exactly one of those times for you. There are changes going on in all significant areas of your life. A partner may have some surprising news, and if that is good, you will waste no time in planning how to celebrate. Home matters are going through major adjustments, and very likely your role as a parent figure is being overhauled. You are wasting no time in looking forward to some travels or learning, and even though money is going out, it is for a good cause. A new moon at the end of June high-lights the parent/family role, and the new moon at the end of July is suggesting fun and games with new and/or old friends.

You start this period with Mars (old ruler) very busily engaged in the “closet” area of the wheel, where you do a great deal of work that is necessary but doesn’t get any applause for how well you have been doing. It is a labor of love, which is going to be over in the not too distant future. No matter, the areas of love, self expression, and moving forward are all beginning to bear fruit. You have been doing some busy calculations when it comes to finances, and some

For most of this period, the emphasis is on the major money house of income/outgo with the leading idea relating to home, dwelling, family matters. Whatever the specifics are, there is much activity, if not concern, about dwellings, and family matters. There would appear to be a culmination of events by mid July, and then there appears to be much discussion with partners or open enemies! You are just days away from a much more joyous period, and when the financial obligations are completed, you will be ready to enjoy! Capricorn, you win points for being able to “stand and deliver” almost better than any other sign, and this past year or two have put you to the test. Issues are climaxing at this point, and they all affect the most basic areas of our lives – home and family situations, and how do we deal with others – as friends or enemies. Highly significant will be this house of “others”, as both the new and full moons coming up affect that area. You are entering this period with some excitement brewing in terms of new ideas, possible trips, and especially an awakening of new talents. This is very exciting, as it should be, in order to keep you interested! An area that seems to be somewhat muddy is that of working patterns, and/or health issues, which could be yours or others. There seem to be some demands from family members on your time and energy, or possibly the employment scene is shifting to accommodate more people, and especially women and children. It would appear that the bosses (on the job or in the family) are needing some time and attention from you, and you have a very admirable ability to shift gears at the drop of a hat. Well, Aries, there is at least light at the end of the tunnel as this period ends, but in the meantime, you are apparently being pulled in all of the up-front directions at the same time: those 4 are: (1) you, (2) the significant others, (3)the career, and (4) the home and family. So much stress does not always happen at the same time, so this is a bit much. A positive note shows up in the area of ideas, paper work, and/or travel, which you excel in, so that will help. So, the good news is that the worst tension, which has been rather obvious for at least the last 6 months, will be resolved by the end of July, and much of the frustration goes away.
