“Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and, departing, leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time.” –Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Infinity magazine would like to dedicate this issue to the memory of our dear friend and colleague, James McNabb who passed on July 5th. Known as James, Little Eagle Standing Strong, he was blessed with many gifts. It was his mission in life to serve all who needed his guidance, wisdom and healing in their lives. James was a Shaman, professional medium, healer, ordained minister and paranormal investigator. He worked with energies on many levels and could communicate with spirits that had crossed over. He could clear negative and dark entities that would be troublesome and often created hardship for people. James enriched all lives he touched with his loving grace. For those who were fortunate to have met him, James love and kindness would shine through as he helped to heal thousands of people in his incredible journey of life. Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife and soul mate, Cynthia, our talented contributing writer, and his family at this time, may they be comforted by beautiful memories of a man who lived his life with dignity, integrity, honor and grace. James made the world a better place as he dedicated his life to serving humanity. His soul will continue to shine through from the heavens above. He is sadly missed by us all. May you rest in eternal peace, James.

TMystical imeless Journeys with Sage Vortex Sedona Trip by Kimberly “Sage” Pridemore

We are happy to announce Infinity Magazines new and exciting feature, “Timeless Journeys with Sage.” Sage has been with the Infinity team for several years, her wisdom, knowledge and experience makes her a perfect fit as Infinity’s Travel Editor for this special feature. Each issue will be a wonderful adventure with Sage as she travels to amazing destinations. Sage will share her travels with helpful tips, interesting facts about her fun filled and relaxing get-aways! Sage & Mimi’s Mystical Vortex Sedona Trip One of the most beautiful places on this planet is Sedona! My bestie, Mimi, and I have been going every year since 2014. Our most recent trip occurred this

March. Recently, we also added a Napa Wine chapter to our yearly “Thelma and Louise” girls’ week. This issue’s Timeless Journey will begin with Sedona and next issue will feature the second part of our trip in Napa Wine Country. Our initial visit to Sedona was sparked by its annual Yoga Festival. At that time, I was starting my yoga teachers’ training, still married and living in Cincinnati. As soon as Michelle and I decided to meet in Sedona, the rest was history. Sedona is an excellent destination for a girls’ getaway. It is condensed enough to feel connected and secure, yet vast enough to appreciate the magic of the red rocks. It stimulates an inward need to release, revive and renew. As we embarked on our now annual adventure, we

planned to partake in the yoga festival as usual in addition to enjoying our favorite spots and venturing to new places. We flew into the Phoenix airport, rented a car. Our ritual has always been to stop at a dollar store, pick up candles and essentials for our room. This includes things to build an alter, another tradition we enjoy to set the tone for our desired experience. The drive to Sedona from Phoenix is a little under two hours. Mimi and I have been friends for over thirty five years and travel well together. Much of the ride is spent in silence. We take in the beauty, gather our thoughts and exhale the energy of our busy lives back home. We stay in anticipation for whatever magical experiences Spirit will bestow on us. Interstate 17, also know as the Old Black Canyon Trail, takes you past small towns and lovely scenery. Towering sandstone rocks frame the highway on this road to Sedona. The only one word is “breathtaking.” This trip, we decided to stop at Clear Creek Winery in Camp Verde located in the Verde Valley. Clear Creek is adorable and the owner, Ignacio, was inviting. He shared with us his experiences in the wine industry and how exactly Clear Creek began. Mimi and I both enjoyed the tasting of six Rio Clara Wines, three whites and three reds for $10 per person. What a treat! After the tasting, we strolled around the grounds enjoying the lush green vineyard, crystal clear pond and mountain vistas. Next we decided to visit Chapel of the Holy Cross. It is one of the top destinations in Sedona. It is also a site of the Sedona voices. It is said that every year over four million people visit Sedona to experience the red rocks and in search of the vortexes. Think of a vortex like a tornado. In Sedona, it refers to a place where the earth is alive with energy and pulls everything around it into its center. The chapel has a surreal affect and sculptural feel, as it jets out of two red mounds on a spur of rock two hundred feet above ground. The walk up to the chapel is adorned with cactus flowers. Inside the chapel is quiet and peaceful, the prefect atmosphere for prayer and meditation. With the donation of a dollar, you can light a votive alongside

your prayer. Outside, the view is amazing. The first time I visited, I arrived in time to view the golden orange on the rocks at sunset. This trip, simply taking in the beautiful views of the surrounding red rocks was just as impressive. Finally, I began to feel the flow of Sedona! Later, it was time to check in and relax before dinner. We chose one of our favorite places: Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona. It filled all of our girl trip desires. It’s a great value for the price of Sedona. Pick a room on the top floor, as the room opens up to a large deck with beautiful views of the surrounding rock formations. Breakfast is included with the price. The pool, hot tub and work out room are also a great bonus! We settled in, unpacked, lit candles and opened a bottle of wine before making a casual dinner on the terrace. A stop at the local Whole Foods provided us an array of cheese, fruit and artisan meats to complete our meal. Later that night, we lit the outdoor fire pit, looked up at the star filled sky and reflected on our journey so far. After a great night of sleep and breakfast to follow, we headed to the Sedona Yoga Festival. Each of us signed up for different classes over the next few day and were eager to get our yoga on. The Sedona Yoga Festival began in 2013. This was our 6th year attending and we had our pattern down. Morning classes, a break for lunch, an afternoon class and then relax. Last year I was blessed to be a presenter. My class was called “Healing your Chakras with the Tarot.” It is a mixture of yoga, mediation and the Tarot. It was fun to simply be a student this time around. Two favorite classes I took this year were: Passion, Purpose & Prosperity: A Path to Manifestation and Awakening Your Heart by Grounding into your Essence. For our second night in Sedona, we decided to dine at Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill. This place is amazing! It is perfectly nestled in the red rocks. My best piece of advise is to get there just before sunset. We did not make reservations, so we opted for dinner at the bar. In terms of food, Chef Lisa Dahl prepares Latin inspired dishes based on her interactions with chefs in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. We each had the cauliflower carrot leek bisque with white cheddar and (Continued on pg. 6)

sizzling gulf shrimp. Divine! As our entrees, we shared wood-fired mussels and an amazing Mediterranean flatbread with burrata mozzarella, Serrano ham, fire roasted Campari tomatoes, charred artichokes, olive tapenade finished with arugula. Perfection. The next few days we continued to visit different vortexes, enjoyed our classes and some shopping. When you visit Sedona, include in your trip some of the vortex sites that are believed to be filled with spiritual energy. They include Cathedral Rock, Airport Mesa, Bell Rock and Boynton Canyon Vortex site. My favorite outdoor destination in Sedona is Amitabh Stupa and Peace Park. Sitting majestically among the pinion and juniper pines, the site is surrounded by landscape of crimson spires. It is stunning. The Amitabh is open every day from dusk until dawn and is free of charge (donations, of course, are welcomed). A short walk up the winding trail brings you to the thirty-six foot Amitabh Stupa and the smaller Tara Stupa for prayer, meditation, healing, and the experience of peace in a sacred place. This trip, Mimi and I took our time walking the trails. We sat in silence and simply allowed Spirit to take us where we were meant to go in our prayers, meditation and inner journey. I felt at peace with one and all. As within, so without. My Zen moment on this trip to Sedona was unplanned but became a truly magical vortex influenced moment. One of our afternoons, Mimi and I were classed out from the yoga festival and decided to take an afternoon off for shopping and a late lunch. As we were driving, I saw a sign for a consignment shop. As we drove near, we also noticed there was an art gallery of sorts next door. We pulled in, parked and went into the thrift shop. Mimi and I shop at different paces. She is slow and I am in-and-out. So while she was still shopping at the vintage shop, I ventured next store to the artist colony shop. This place housed booths with arts and crafts from different venders. As I walked around the room I was drawn towards the back of the store. To

my left, sat two women who looked like a mixture of ancient wisdom and an intense spiritual essence. I also noticed a number of books pertaining to shamanism. I was intrigued. Many years ago in Boulder, Colorado, I apprenticed with a woman named Hannah. It was my understanding that she had apprenticed a handful of woman over the years. She was in her sixties at the time and I was in my early twenties. For three years, she took me under her wing and shared the gifts of divination, knowledge of the tarot and many other modalities. In fact, my Medicine Woman Mystery School is derived from her teachings. Both women looked not only into my eyes but, if felt, right through me. I sat down next to them. One of the women, Elizabeth immediately asked me if I was a shaman. I replied that I had studied with different shamans over the years. She asked how I knew I was a Shaman. I knew she was playing with me, even testing me in a way. For a brief moment, I felt as if I was transported to Boulder and in Hannah’s store. In that instant, I realized these women knew the stories and the magic I consumed many years ago. I mentioned Hannah’s name and the energy of both women softened. Their exchanged glance confirmed what I knew. They too, many years ago, apprenticed with Hannah in that tiny Boulder bookstore. It has been thirty-eight years since I stepped through those doors. We hugged, cried and shared memories of Hannah. The pink rose pendulum, the magical tea tree oil and the archetypes of the medicine woman. As we talked, Elizabeth shared something about me that no one could ever know. Again, I felt transported to my apprenticeship in the book store where over thirty years ago, this very same woman read my cards after a session with Hannah. I had no words. The ladies confirmed that this wise teacher had only apprenticed ten women and here we were, three of them brought together in such a unique way. Needless to say, this Zen moment is such a confirmation of being Spirit led. I shared the story with Mimi over lunch at the Chocola Tree. It was an ideal place to savor our trip and make our plans for our morning departure to Napa. Make

sure you visit this restaurant as each dish is created using one hundred percent organic, vibrant foods, gluten free and all entirely home made. I had the Thai kale salad and Mimi had the tomato basil bisque. Their live sweet treats are meant not to share. We enjoyed the coconut creme pie and the double chocolate ganache. On our way back from lunch to our hotel room, we noticed three very large black birds above our car. They even led us back to our hotel. The way they flew with us felt uncanny. I knew it was the two ladies from the book store and Hannah, in spirit, shape shifting us safely on! Never underestimate the power of the Sedona Vortex.

Kayaking

by Melanie Wiechel

Do you ever ask yourself the question how do I discern which messages are from Spirit and which ones are from my ego? Do you ever hear/feel two responses to the same question, feeling one response in your head and the other near or just to the left of your heart? As the planet’s ascension continues more people are finding their selves in an awakened state. While we all face difficulty with discerning messages at one time or another, as a society we have become increasingly disconnected with ourselves, the environment, and ultimately with Spirit. The leading factors to this are, but not limited to, individual fears/anxiety/traumas, daily stressors, electronics, and societal conditioning of the “rat race. These distractions make it difficult for individuals to focus and lead to the feeling of being overwhelmed. We forget to slow down, to breathe, to release tension, to put down the phone, to ground, we forget to connect with the physical World around us. We forget to be still. I would like to invite you to

8

take three deep breaths, releasing all the distractions, excuses, and fears that no longer serve you. Now ground yourself deeply into the Earth. Once grounded open your heart space with unconditional love and ask to receive clarity to your own method to discern messages from Spirit. The highest self, angels, and your spiritual team will never tell you anything negative. They will always come from a place unconditional love; it may not be the message that we are hoping to hear but they are the messages that we are ready to hear. Now that you are ready to embark on this journey of self-discovery ask yourself how do you best connect with Spirit? During a recent transition I was feeling like I was caught in an eddy and was having trouble finding the current to continue to carry myself down stream. To assist myself in gaining clarity on this subject and

how to move forward I chose to go kayaking. Before I even slid my kayak into the river I asked sister water to please teach me how to thrive through moments of fear, adversity, and how to become aware of my body signals for when I need to take a break. I asked to gain the wisdom of how to remain calm, to know when to act and when to be still. With my intentions set, I set off down the river. Initially, I was met with my own anxiety I thought to myself “I forget how to steer, Oh no! I am going to crash!” I took a breath and put the paddle in the water, I avoided the tree branches. Okay, lesson one, stop being so reactive to your shadows that are being triggered. Dually noted. Solution; remember to breathe and ground. As I drifted further down the river I began to relax I allowed for my fingers to skim the surface of the water as I watched bald eagles soar, turtles relaxing on a log, dragonflies dance on the nose of my kayak. In the moment where all my guard was down a naughty little fish came up and took a nibble from my finger. Surprise! While I quickly removed my hands from the water, seconds later I was giggling and placed my fingers and added my toes back in the water. Lesson learned; if I stay in my heart center there is no need to fear life’s surprises. Immediately re-center, refocus and re-commit. Continuing down the river, I started to hear roar of water. I am not a strong swimmer and I had heard that there was a small section of rapids. I started to watch the water as she danced and started to sing follow me, I will guide you through. Trust me, trust yourself. As the water got louder I had my doubts. I am a beginner, I have my life jacket. I am good to go. Trust. Breathe. I remembered the song that sister water had whispered before the anxiety crept in. I lined my kayak to follow her flow. As I reached the end of the first set my kayak was full of water making it challenging to steer. I could see a perfect spot on the bank to empty my kayak, I yelled to my travel partner that I had to take a break and I would catch up with her. I landed the kayak and took a deep breath as I easily stepped out of the kayak and emptied her. I took a moment to ground. Effortlessly, I sat back down into my kayak.

Infinity

As I set back off into the river I processed the lesson. I couldn’t steer, that was my cue to pull over, my travel partner, can take care of herself focus on my own problems. I can move at my own pace. I can stop to preserve my safety and my sanity. I became aware of the ego driven, fear-based messages and was able to repurpose them into a healthy critically thinking paradigm. We can only prepare to a certain degree, and once we are prepared, have faith that the path is laid out before you.

Olive Oil: Benefits & Uses by Dr. Joeseph Mercola The humble olive is not just a dietary staple in the Mediterranean region — it also enjoys the reputation of being a healthy oil in the United States. It is valued not only for its flavor, but also for its range of wellness benefits. Learn more about this plant-based oil, its uses (why you should drizzle it cold on salads, not cook with it), health value and how to distinguish good olive oil from bad ones.

from leftover olive pulps, and the remaining liquid is extracted using chemical solvents. Avoid this type of olive oil at all costs.9

What Is Olive Oil?

However, it’s important to note that olive oil is not recommended for cooking — it should only be used cold, usually drizzled on salads and other foods. Extravirgin olive oil’s chemical structure and its large amount of unsaturated fats make it very susceptible to oxidative damage when used for cooking.10 Whenever you need an oil to cook with, use coconut oil or grass fed butter.

Olive oil is pressed from fresh olives and is made mainly in the Mediterranean, mostly in Italy, Spain and Greece. It is available all year-round. Just like in wine-making, several factors affect the character of the oil, including climate, soil and the way the olives are harvested and pressed.1 The flavor, smell and color of olive oil can vary significantly, based on its origin and whether it is extravirgin (finest grade) or not. Generally, the hotter the country, the more robust the oil’s flavor will be.2 The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grades olive oil based on flavor, odor, absence of defects and acidity. Extra-virgin olive oil is described as having an excellent flavor and odor, and a free fatty acid content of ≤ 0.8 grams per 100 grams (0.8 percent).3 Commonly sold varieties of olive oil include: • Extra virgin olive oil — The highest-quality olive oil you can get. It is unrefined and contains more nutrients compared to other processed varieties.4 • Pure olive oil5 — Made by combining extra-virgin olive oil and refined olive oil, resulting in a lowerquality product.6 It is sometimes sold as “refined olive oil.”7 • Light olive oil — The word “light” is a marketing term that simply refers to the oil’s lighter flavor. In truth, light olive oil is simply refined olive oil that has a neutral taste and a higher smoke point.8 • Olive-pomace oil — This version of olive oil is made

10

Other Practical Uses of Olive Oil Olive oil can be flavored with herbs and spices, which you can steep in the oil for 10 days or so. If you’re using chili, you need far less time.

Good Housekeeping lists several practical uses of olive oil. It can be used to moisturize your skin, as well as remove eye makeup and paint from hair.11 According to Michael Bertoldo, a stylist from California, olive oil can also be used as a safe, natural lubricant for a close shave and as a soothing aftershave.12

Chemical Composition of Olive Oil Ninety-nine percent of olive oil is made up of triacylglycerols, also known as triglycerides.13 Other compounds include fatty acids, such as:14 Palmitic (C16:0) Palmitoleic (C16:1) Stearic (C18:0) Oleic (C18:1) Linoleic (C18:2) Linolenic (C18:3) Mono- and diacylglycerols, hydrocarbons, sterols, as well as phenolic and volatile compounds make up olive oil.15

Potential Benefits of Olive Oil If used properly, olive oil may be one of the healthiest oils you can add to your diet. Research has shown that it may help with a number of functions, such as: • Managing Type 2 diabetes — Researchers found that the fatty acids helped manage and lower the risk of Type 2 diabetes. In addition, higher olive intake lowered the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 16 percent.16 • Managing inflammation — Olive oil is rich in oleic acid, a type of monounsaturated fat. Studies have shown that oleic acid is linked to reduced biomarkers of inflammation17 such as C-reactive protein.18 • Boosting antioxidant profile — Several studies note that olive oil contains a high number of antioxidants, such as phenolic compounds, that may help remove free radicals throughout your body.19,20,21

• Improving heart health — Numerous studies indicate that consuming olive oil can benefit your cardiovascular system in many ways, such as lowering LDL cholesterol levels,22 boosting endothelial function,23 decreasing blood pressure,24 reducing platelet aggregation25 and lowering the risk of thrombosis.26 • Reducing risk of Alzheimer’s disease — In a mice study, olive oil exhibited potential neuroprotective properties against Alzheimer’s disease.27 In another study, this time done on humans, researchers stated that the Mediterranean diet (supplemented with olive oil) helped improve cognition compared to a low-fat diet.28 • Lowering the risk of cancer — In a study published in the Annals of Oncology, oleic acid helped inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells.29

Finding Your Inner Worth by Rachel Vincitore

As I started out in my career, I was young and confident. There was nothing that I couldn’t accomplish with hard work and determination. Every project accepted was a new adventure that I was willing to embark on regardless if I had the experience or knowledge to fully understand what I was getting myself into. As a young twenty-something, I was good at almost everything, and if found myself in hot water, I figured out a way to learn, reorient, and turn the project around—I liked being successful. This success was built all before I stepped out of the workforce to raise children. At the time, my spouse was in the Army, moving all over the world with and without the kids and me, so there was no question that I needed to be home with the children. This was a wonderful, joyous time in my life, a time I miss almost every day now that my children are in their teens. Years after I stepped away from the workforce, I found it was time for me to re-

12

enter. The stark reality of my absence hit me hard. I was no longer the energetic, confident young person I had been years earlier. I felt like a fraud, a fake, an imposter. With focused introspect into my past, in an attempt to discover why I was feeling like a phony, it was apparent that I had once had different expectations for myself. I was smart and was always rewarded for exceeding in school, for caring for my family, and even for my “clever” fashion choices. When I made the decision to stay home with my children, it never occurred to me that I would re-enter the workforce as a different person. Unfortunately, I began to perceive that my time away from the workforce dulled my edge, making me less than what I used to be. My absence was a hindrance and everyone else was so far ahead of me, and they all knew it, or so I believed. Insecurities

stabbed at my self-esteem and self-worth. No longer was I the stellar student, the one that could get the project done, or the “funky” dresser as I once was. All of it was gone. All of the confidence had faded away into the ethers and was gone forever into the mist. I was left with feeling inadequate and just waiting for someone to figure out what an impostor I was. I needed to figure out what was happening to me. In 1978, Drs. Pauline Rose Clance and Suzanne Amet Imes conducted research on the negative emotions that were adversely affecting highly successful women while in graduate school and in the workplace (Clance & Imes, 1978). Many of these women feared that they would be found out as a fraud even though they were educated, experienced, and completely capable of doing the job for which they were hired or completing the program in which they were accepted. As a result of their research and findings, Imes and Clance coined the phrase “Impostor Phenomenon.” This coined phrase refers to “an internal experience of intellectual phoniness which appears to be particularly prevalent and intense among a select sample of high achieving women.” (Clance & Imes, 1978, p 241). Ah ha! I was thrilled to learn that there was a term to what I was feeling. And, there were others who felt the same unworthiness and fear of exposure as a phony that I did. Since this is such internal suffering, people tend not to talk about their feelings of being an impostor, yet upon the discovery of Clance and Imes’ research, I began to question my own belief system—a belief system that was halting a happy existence. It was apparent that I needed to find a new way of thinking about who I was as a person, and I needed to begin to trust myself as I once had many years before. One of the first steps I made was to look beyond the person that there was before children, to look beyond that twenty-something who needed to prove her worth. As Edgar Cayce said in reading 3674-1, “First, find self. Know thine own ideal. Know that you have just begun to live. While there is a past, put it behind thee. Begin where you are today. There, and in that direction, use thy life, thy purpose, thy will - if it will be dedicated to God and to thy fellow man.” It was time to evaluate the present and look forward

toward the future. While the past was valuable in helping me grow into the person I am, the memory was distorted and greatly affecting and altering my present reality. Who I was in the past was gone, I needed to see myself in the here and now, then hold my head up, look forward, and find my Ideal and my purpose. Those who have feelings of being an impostor need to reframe their old patterned thoughts about success, achievements, experiences, and how these thoughts relate to the stability or dysfunction of the internal environment. Old belief systems, superstitions, and thoughts need to be tended to carefully and gradually in order to evoke real internal change (Weir, 2013). It was with honest soul-searching that I began to see a change in my attitude toward success. The fraudulent feelings began to subside when I sat with myself, day after day, in meditation upon my Ideals. I kept asking, Who am I really, and what is my purpose? The stars began to align and the message was clear. It was in these quiet moments the truth revealed itself to me. I was to believe in myself because I was a product of the Universe. It was my purpose to be of service to those who needed a hand up in the world, and it was my propose to be nurturing to those who needed love. It was time for me to act in accordance with the purpose of my heart (Cayce Reading, 2549-1). All of the insecurities began to fall away in those moments. I began to believe the Universe led me to where I am and it is my purpose to listen to my heart and fulfill my Ideals. Let those influences of the Creative Forces guide thee in thy seeking to be a channel of help to others; meeting in self those things necessary for making thy body, thy mind, as one with Him. Edgar Cayce reading 560-7 For those who have feelings of inadequacy, a lack of self-worth, a feeling of being a fraud, know that you are worthy. The Divine Universe put you here on this planet for a reason that has purpose and meaning. Living in the past asks the mind to misremember events and causes an undue hardship on the present (Continued on pg. 14)

self. The past is valuable in learning; and the past is a building block for the future. Give thanks to the events that happened long ago, yet now, begin to lift your head toward the present and gaze toward the future. It is in looking forward that you will begin to find a new belief system that sheds you of the superstitions of the past. Meditate on your purpose and Ideals as Cayce instructed. Ask your higher-self difficult questions that you have been avoiding for years. Ask for help and healing. Ask for an answer. You may be surprised at what messages you receive.

It wasn’t until I donned a clerical collar that I came to understand how people viewed religious leaders differently. Some were comforted by my presence while others seemed ill at ease. “Before long I realized that many had been damaged through judgment, guilt, rejection, and condemnation by a religion or by someone religious. I’m happy to report that these people do not have to languish in fear, depression, or resentment. “In Every Path Leads Home, Wayne Holmes has created a brilliant and very gentle way out of religious abuse and intolerance into peace, happiness, and personal freedom. “It is a way to heal us all. –Rev. Let the Heart Lead by Wayne Holmes When we face doubts, fears, or uncertainties, we would be wise to follow the heart’s lead. When we let fear guide our way, we tend to move away from the Light and into the darkness. Uncertainty in life is a given. Giving into uncertainty can be avoided if we will listen to what our hearts tell us. The heart that is in tune with Love and Light will always find the best path to lead us forward and always keep us in the light of Love. Rules and regulations have their place in an ordered world, but we must never allow them to override our hearts’ connections to Divine wisdom and insight. Breaking with traditional wisdom doesn’t have to be as dramatic as Rosa Park’s refusal to move to the back of the bus, or Gandhi’s course of nonviolent civil disobedience, but it could be. For the most part,

however, we are called simply to be true to ourselves and our ability to love as The Divine loves. Following the heart doesn’t make us weak or soft. Loving from the heart and opening ourselves to those around us can often be painful and may seem too difficult, but the benefits of creating a better world — personal and global — outweigh any hesitation or reservations we might hold. Let your heart lead. You might be surprised by how many followers you inspire. About the Author: Pastor Wayne Holmes is an ordained minister with Divinity Spiritual Church and also Revelation Spiritual Church. He is the co-founder of Religious Recovery, an organization dedicated to healing wounds inflicted by religion or the religious. He is not opposed to religion, but he sees the hurts and endeavors to help. Wayne is the author of seven books including the title, Every Path Leads Home: Opening to Your Spiritual Journey. Oh Olive!

How We Love Thee, Let Us Count the Ways!

There are dozens of varieties of olives, too many to mention, but the benefits of this fruit are simply amazing! The olive dates back thousands of years, it is now regarded as a super food and enhances the flavor of many fine cuisines. The green olive is picked before it fully ripens on the tree, and not all olives turn black, this process occurs through oxidation and curing. Olives produce the ever so popular oil that one will find in nearly every kitchen. Olives contain healthy monounsaturated fat that has been known to prevent heart disease. A generous amount of vitamin E found in olives helps to protect the DNA of cells in the body which can reduce the risk of colon cancer. Healthy glowing skin is another benefit of consuming olives and olive oil. Olive oil can be applied topically and nourishes the skin as well.

16

There are anti-inflammatory benefits of adding olives or olive oil to a regular diet, for those who have rheumatoid arthritis, asthma or osteoarthritis. Digestive issues can be cleared away by consuming a cup of black olives that contain fiber, Olive oil activates the secretion of bile which can lower the risk of gallstone formations. Olives are high in iron, not only does iron help to produce more energy, it also builds a stronger immune system, a daily recommended dose of iron can reverse weak and cold symptoms. One cup of olives also contain enough vitamin A to contribute to eye health, improving night vision and can protect against eye related diseases. Kalamata and green olives produce oleocanthal, a substance that may reduce pain and act as a natural ibuprofen. Three and half tablespoons of virgin olive oil per day can greatly reduce inflammation that

causes pain and discomfort in the body. It is best to avoid canned olives, an olive bar in the supermarket should contain fresh olives and it is fun to experiment and try different varieties! There are types of olives that are also stuffed and stored in glass jars. There are a few safety measures to take when choosing olives, because in most canned olives, they may contain levels of acrylamide to preserve the olives or even darken them. Enjoy the distinct flavor of olives, there are thousand of ways olives can be used in salads, and in many different recipes, choosing the best olives and oil will bring great benefits to your health as well. Olives! They can change the nutritional value of any meal, especially on your favorite pizza!

Dr. Kelly Duffner, Karen and Dr. Patrick Baker My name is Karen and I have been a patient of Dr. Patrick Baker for over 10 years. He has helped me through many times in my life where I was overcome with pain. Currently, he has been helping me through the pain of a fall. I fell directly on a concrete floor after getting tangled in a dog leash. I fell flat on my backside. Hard! The pain was excruciating and I was sure I had fractured something. I went to specialists and was told nothing was fractured. Of course I received the usual pain medications and muscle relaxers but they gave me no relief. I then tried a pain specialist for steroid injections but again, no relief. They told me that I needed to do what seemed to me to be some very drastic procedures involving the nerves in my back. This concerned me so I decided that I needed to consult with Dr. Baker. I wasn’t sure if he could even help me with this particular problem but I had to try. Dr. Baker told me he could treat me but it would take some extensive treatment. I would need to be prepared to come three days a week for several

months. He said he would have to work very slowly to get my back adjusted correctly.

the office several times a week they become more like friends.

I had been a patient of Dr. Baker’s when he worked at the Fairfield office but when he moved to the West Chester office, I felt that was just going to be too long of a drive…..but at this point I was willing to make that 75 mile drive three times a week to get better. I had faith that Dr. Baker’s “anointed hands” would help me get through this pain.

I tell everybody I know about Dr. Baker, Baker Chiropractic and Wellness and how they helped me through a very difficult period.*

So I started on this journey with Dr. Baker and he did help me. After just a few adjustments, I started to get some relief, but I still had a long way to go. There were lots of ups and downs along the way but I am finally out of pain completely!

Ten Life Lessons from Lola by Jocelyn Dietrich Lessons of unconditional love, divine guidance and healing from our furry friends We can learn so much from animals or pets and in my case dogs. I am 100 percent certain that Lola, my beautiful and rambunctious Chocolate Lab was sent straight from the Universe and the Heavens above. She is an important part of my healing journey. She doesn’t always make things easy but that’s part of the beauty of it all! She has taught me patience, how to be present, to forgive and forget and most of all, to have fun. Life can be such a fun adventure with a furry friend by our side. Lola created a new beginning for me and now I know I can get through anything with her and my husband by my side. She has much wisdom and shares that wisdom with the world through all of her senses. It is up to us to pay attention and allow our furry friends to be much more than our companions – they are also brilliant life guides and healers, intuitively knowing what we need before we know ourselves. Without further ado…here are some life lessons from Lola that you can take with you into the Fall season and beyond. I hope you all have shared some wonderful adventures with your furry friends this Summer. If not, it’s never too late! 1. Let Your Inner Beauty Shine Our furry friends don’t wake up in the morning worried about their reflection in the mirror or 20

how much they weigh. They walk this earth with a humble beauty and grace. They carry an inner beauty that shines through their soulful eyes for all to see. 2. Cry as loud as you want too Crying is cathartic. And it’s better out than in. “It’s better to cry than to be angry; because anger hurts others. While tears flow silently through the soul and cleanses the heart.” – Pope John Paul II When Lola cries it’s usually her way of getting our attention and she’s not afraid to cry loud! Sometimes the littlest thing will make me cry (a TV commercial) but then I’ll just be sobbing loud for the next 10 minutes. I feel so much better afterwards. It’s ok to be vulnerable and to feel your own emotions rather than repressing them. 3. Intuitive Eating Lola is a growing pup. She eats 3 meals a day just like you and me. She has an amazing nose and can sniff out where her food is from a mile away. Something I have struggled with is stress eating or by simply filling the time if I am bored. I have been working on my intuitive eating this past year and really listening to my body for natural hunger cues. Animals are amazing at this. If you can stick to it and learn this mind trick you are already ahead of the game! 4. Rest when necessary Lola is a high energy dog (most Labs are) she will be playing hard for an hour and then drop everything and like a light switch she will drop and nap whenever and wherever! I think we Aug / Sept 2019

can learn a lot from dogs. Resting is essential for great health. Most of us have malnourished and stressed out bodies from diet, stress, work, worry, anxiety and lack of sleep. A daily nap, even the smallest amount of time, can and will go a long way. 5. Hug More Need I say more? It has been scientifically proven that a hug can drop your stress levels and just make you feel more secure! Lola gives free hugs 24.7. 6. Find hobbies or things you like to do regularly Lola enjoys a wide variety of athletic pursuits. She loves playing and fetching ball, chewing rope, going for walks and playing with her humans. She thrives on connection to those around her. It keeps her happy. We humans are no different. Find something you love and do it often or try new things whether you like to do group activities or individual pursuits – hobbies keep us happy, healthy, physically and mentally active. They connect us to our surrounding community. They have the ability to transport us away from the little every day worries or annoyances that we tend to go through. 7. Surround yourself with love Surround yourself with loving family and friends who always support you and have your best interest at heart. Dogs are loyal to a fault and will love you to their last breath. 8. Live in the now Dogs don’t dwell on things. They get over stuff fast! They forgive and forget. We can’t hold on

Infinity

to the past and we can’t worry about the future. All that we have is right now. Dogs are always present. And they give their all to us in the present. 9. New beginnings Never a day goes by where Lola doesn’t wiggle her butt in happiness to say “Good morning!” and “night night” at the end of the evening. Never go to bed or wake up angry. Each day is a blessing and a day to start fresh all over again. 10. Explore and Adventure Walking is a great for so many things. It stretches your legs, builds muscle and stamina, gives you some vitamin D, fresh air and time away from social media which can create unnecessary stress. Walking takes you on a daily adventure. You are sure to see, sense or smell something new every day.

Children’s Dreams and Goals by Jody Johnston Pawel, LSW, CFLE When you think of your children, what dreams and goals do you have? Actually pause, close your eyes for a few seconds, and think about your answers before reading on.... Like most parents, you probably imagine sometimes what you’d like your children to do or become. You see their potential, might encourage them to pursue a certain goal, and help them reach it. Sometimes, a subtle shift can occur and you start realizing that your children don’t share the dreams and goals you have for them. This is a critical decision-point for every parent. Are you going to impose your desires for your children onto them, or encourage them to have their own dreams, set their own goals, and support your children in reaching them? This is just one example of times you can find yourself being responsible for your children and doing too much, versus being responsible to your children. You are not responsible for dreaming and goalsetting for your children. You are responsible to your children, to teach them how to dream and set goals for themselves. Children naturally use their imaginations when they are younger. As they get older, they and adults tend to let logic, odds, and fears determine what dreams and goals children can “realistically” have. Instead, encourage your children to keep using their imagination. It is a skill needed for creative visualization, which is a tool they can use to manifest any dream or goal! 22

Then, teach children the steps of goal-setting: 1) Set a goal that focuses on the end result or benefit you want to achieve. Focus on what you do want, not how you will get there. 2) Imagine you’ve already accomplished it. How do you feel? What is your life like? This “dream” provides the “Why” that fuels self-motivation. 3) Identify the steps needed to reach the goal. These can become sub-goals and you can repeat steps 1 and 2 for each. 4) Identify how you will measure and track progress. Focus on the internal rewards, not using star charts and rewards, which create a dependency on external motivation. So what if your child has a dream or goal that is unrealistic or concerns you? Ask yourself a couple key questions before saying anything. If they are young and they can’t possibly have this dream until later or it’s simply a childhood fantasy that isn’t grounded in reality, just acknowledge the wish. You can even playfully engage in the fantasy, for practice sake! No logical realitygrounding lectures! What if your child is older and has a dream or goal that you think is dangerous, unhealthy, or could hurt people or things? Then ask some open-ended questions that will get the child to think along those lines and play out the scenario you are imagining. Ask, “What could you do to prevent this?” or “What would happen if...,” “What would you do if...,” or “What do you think the risk is of {your concern}?” If they don’t see an issue, express your concerns Aug / Sept 2019

respectfully, “I’m concerned about {what they want to do}, because {word this in general terms without the word “you”}.” Ask, “What is it about that activity that you want to experience?” Then brainstorm ideas that provide the same outcome but is safer (or whatever your concern is). For example, skydiving at an indoor facility instead of from a plane. Walk your children through the process of brainstorming ideas, evaluating them, and playing out what could happen. Play out whatif scenarios for which they need to be prepared. This teaches them responsible decision making, so they can made good decisions and handle the risks, even when you aren’t there. Depending on the situation, you may need to set limits and not allow the child to pursue the dream or goal --- at least for now. Just keep in mind that as soon as you forbid something, it makes it infinitely more interesting and practically dares the child to rebel. You are far better off having the above conversation and getting an agreement for how they can pursue similar, but safer, goals. Ultimately, when your children are legally adults, they can do whatever they choose (and experience the consequences). If you’ve taught them how to set goals and make responsible decisions, they can pursue their dreams and goals safely. Then you will be assured that even if they are doing something you consider risky, they know the risks and can better trust them to do their best to minimize them. When you do these things, you can get excited about your children’s dreams and support them in reaching their goals, knowing they are prepared for each next season of their lives.

SEnergy-Portals ecret Techniques & Powerful Transformational of the Egyptian Sephiroth by Jill Mattson

The secrets of the prized Tree of Life in the Kabbalah tradition originate deep with the ancient Egyptian Temple Traditions. Both secret traditions regard each circle, called a Sephiroth, in the Tree of Life Blueprint - as a portal of higher dimensional energy. Legends have it that God, or All that Is, descended into matter to experience life at the human level, stepping down or compartmentalizing energies, each subset becoming denser and a small pocket of energy. “As above, so below”. Humans experience a small shadow of this high divine energy. The typical experience as a human being reflects these pockets of energy and consciousness. We experience similar energies as in the Higher Dimensions, but in a less powerful form and the energies in duality are malleable (often negative) … and dense versions of this Holographic, Higher Dimensional Energies.

24

The powerful pharaohs of Egypt believed that their Gods guarded these Higher Gateways of Powerful Uplifting Energies: the Sephiroth. These High Energy Streams were locked and prevented from flowing to human beings. The keys to these incredibly important gateways were never thrown away. They were hidden, in plain sight, carved - time and time again - in indelible stone! People left “a breadcrumb trail” to find our way home – to all consciousness and awareness – with abundant streams of powerful connected energies! Please experience the video on the website to experience a Sephiroth attunement in sound. The entire collection of the sephiroth sound attunements is at https://www.jillswingsoflight.com/school-ofhealing.php. Scroll down the page to find the class, Deep Egyptian Secrets & Magic Class. How did Higher Energies of God stop flowing from us?

Deep Egyptian Secrets & Magic Class. Unlock the gates to these Higher Dimensional Energies!

Higher Beings that created these “locks” are thinner in substance (think of an elf or faery godmother) than humans are. If these Higher Beings locked up something precious, it would be silly to guard it with a steel lock that we use today, as Higher Beings can slip right into what is impenetrable to us. How would Higher Evolved Beings keep subtle and quantum energies blocked? Sound, colors, lights and shapes would tangle energies, like creating huge knots in infinitesimal strings… in our modern String Theory.

Pythagoras was quotes as saying, “All is Number!” Just what does that mean? Everything is energy. Energy vibrates. The pace of pulsations of energies can be counted and we call them frequencies. Think that String Theory is correct. All is number, expressed as vibrating strings (frequencies) or our world or other dimensions. The Sephiroth are numbered from 1 to 10, and are considered archetypes, that is each one is an experience or consciousness that is known to all of humanity. The Sephiroth Energies are the building blocks of the Higher Blueprint of Divine Energies!

Sound Codes – the Sephiroth Attunements Ancient Sound Codes were carved in stone for us to utilize! Most ancient texts were musical scripts that were sung for easy memorization of them. The Bibal group, many distinguished scholars, interpret old texts such as the Old Testament and other ancient scripts and recreate music and deeper/hidden meanings from them. The numbers, letters, dots and dashes had musical, numerical and symbolic meanings. Ancient languages were all considered to be a subdivision of All That Is or God’s energies. Most religious traditions credit creation with sound and the spoken word. Letters and words were believed to be audible versions of other energies, not part of symbolic communication. To understand their way of thinking, recall cymatics, in which one can see the sacred sound of OM create the shape in loose sand that is used to denote OM in the ancient Hindu tradition. The sound and the symbol were different octaves of the same energies. The Sepiroth are depicted with the letters of the ancient Hebrew languages, and are thumbprints of the actual Higher Divine Energies. Further, the entire set of letters in the ancient Hebrew languages represent the gamut of God’s Creational Energies. Please experience the video on the website to experience a Sephiroth attunement in sound. What are Blueprints of Energies? Imagine being in a gym where jocks think “good” is how fast you run and yet in another group “good” is getting an A on an exam. When in the presence of other likeminded people, similar thoughts combine and create waves: delta, alpha, beta or theta brain wave patterns. These waves ripple into the environment and it becomes difficult to think differently than others in a like-minded group. They create a “wave pool” and if you don’t march to your own drummer, you fall in line with the group’s way of understanding the world. In a similar way, each Sephiroth has its own energy, one that we experience in a dense and less powerful form. Yet, when we look at the symbols of the Sephiroth, we sync with the energy version of the High Dimensional Powerful Sephiroth. It is powerful & divine medicine! In ancient traditions, the High Powerful God Energies contained in the Sephiroth, were set apart so that humanity could experience density, duality and life as a human. However, humans always long for the divine and sweet remembrance of higher energies. Ancient disciples stared at each symbol (see each picture of Sephiroth) to experience resonance with the Higher powerful streams of transforming energies. The super energies within the Sephiroth were to be experienced with visual meditation, rather than intellectually understanding them.

The method of converting the Sephiroth’s shapes to frequencies and harmonic patterns was the deepest ancient secret, but now these methods are returned to us as we journey back to the divine. You can listen to the carefully crafted sounds designed to unlock the High Dimensional Energies hiding behind each Sephiroth. Receive a powerful dosage with each listen and visual meditation. Sound, being the most powerful subtle energy dosage possible, enables us to propel our energies into powerful realms, quickly. Listening to these sound codes activates these higher dormant energies within. The tonal patterns are sometimes called the Resurrection Frequencies, or the Sephiroth Attunements. Returning

by Cynthia M. Brown

It is high summer and my lawn mower stopped working. So, I found a repair person who even came to the house to pick it up and returned it when the mower is repaired. When he arrived, I met him in the back yard and commented on his wolf habitat tee shirt. We started talking and he revealed that he had retired and was building a business doing healing work and mower repair was his way of meeting people and talking about his real passion. I told him I envied him and he smiled and said well, “you know the saying, do what you are passionate about and the money will follow.” I know that. I have read the book and I have a disabled wife and I have to work. Then I started really thinking about it. I asked myself if there were absolutely no barriers what would I be doing? The answer is teaching high school English. That is what I went to college to become. It is all I ever wanted to do, really. I dropped out with pneumonia and when finished, eight years later, I just didn’t certify because I didn’t want anymore debt. I have had a good life working as a chef and working in the non-profit sector. I enjoy my job now and yet, I would love to teach young people. So, I am doing the research to find out what it will take, what it will cost ad if I can afford the time in school. If t is feasible, then I am going to go back to school and finish my certification and spend my last working decade teaching. All of this has made me think about other things as well. I am in my mid-fifties, the high summer of my lifetime. I have been spending a lot more time writing poetry, reading and doing things in my yard and around my house than I have in a long time. I also have a very deep pull to return to my roots in north eastern Georgia. It is as if everything within me is pushing me toward my true center. I am returning to the things that matter most that often get crowded out by the busy-ness of life. My wife and I have been in a huge shift with respect to who we spend our

time with. People we had believed to be “like family” showed how fragile those ties were when in a crisis. Other people that we may not have spent as much time with, have stepped up and reminded us that it is not geography of the physical lane but that of the heart and soul that really matter where friends are concerned. So, here I am. Returning to friends and passions from my youth. Returning to the simple things that bring daily joy not big rewards. Returning to the places that feed my soul. My sister is fond of reminding me that everything in this life has a season. This is my summer...what does your summer look like? May it bring you a return to joy , friends and true purpose.

Lost

by Cindy Huff

We’ve been asked to revisit an issue we’ve written about before – lost pets. Let’s talk first about is preventative measures… what you can do to reduce the chances of a house pet getting loose. Then we will talk about some things you can do if your pet does get away from you. The best way to avoid losing a dog or cat is to take some simple precautions at home or when traveling with your pet. One way that dogs and cats get lost is to run out of an open door or gate; this includes car doors. Let’s talk about some ways to help prevent this. Regardless of whether it is a dog or cat, it’s important to ask the animal to move away from the door before you open it. For dogs, you can teach them to move back from the door, and then ask them to sit and then wait (not stay) until you open and shut the door. Teach this with a leash and treats. If you have children, make sure they practice this with the dog too. If your dog is in a car, always put the leash on the dog BEFORE you open the car door to let them out. If you are putting your dog into the car, do not remove the leash until they are away from the open door and you’ve asked them to wait. Again, teach your children this as well. When traveling with cats, it is often best to put them in a small travel crate or carrier, rather than leave them loose in the car. The other very important thing to remember about doors is to be aware of any dogs or cats around the door you when you open it. Cats can lurk in the background and quickly dart out, so please be diligent especially if you have a cat that likes to make a run for it! Yes, you can teach cats to stay away from open doors; simply clap your hands or hiss at them to move away, and don’t open the door until they do. Another way cats can get out is through screens on open windows. If you have windows open, make sure you monitor your cats to ensure they have not popped a screen out and escaped. If you have a party or other social gathering in your home, you may want to consider confining cats and skittish dogs to another room while your guests are there, especially if people will be coming in and out from the outside.

If you have a fenced yard and you let your dogs out, please keep an eye on them. Fencing can come loose at the bottom, allowing dogs to slip underneath it. Gates can accidently be left open by children, or lawn people. Some dogs are capable of climbing or jumping over fences. If you tie your pet out on a run line, make sure the harness is secure. Unfortunately, sometimes dogs are stolen from yards as well. We do not recommend leaving dogs unsupervised in a yard for long periods of time. If you see someone that you don’t know walking up to yards with dogs in them, be cautious and let your neighbors know. The person may be someone like me who stops and talks to dogs in yards to be friendly, or they may be checking out how easy it would be to come back and take the dog out of the yard. If you have a small dog or outdoor cats, be aware that they are vulnerable to attacked by coyotes, hawks, and owls. Coyotes in particular are becoming much less fearful of people, and are being seen even in very large subdivisions. The other very practical and inexpensive thing that ALL pet owners should do is microchip your pets. Most vet offices and animal shelters have hand scanners for microchips. Microchipping pets can be done by your local vet, and it’s relatively inexpensive to do. What can you do if your pet does get out? We have some suggestions below. If you have an indoor cat that does get out, remain very calm and try encouraging the cat to come to you in a friendly tone of voice. Sit calmly and quietly, and talk to them softly. If they run away, then one way to attract them back is to put food and water out for them at the times they are normally fed, and to sit outside and call them. Cats can be very challenging when they get out, simply because they can decide to stay gone for sometimes months at a time before making their way home. Be patient, post flyers, talk to your neighbors, and keep putting food and water out at their feeding times. This same approach will apply to dogs who get out, especially if they are frightened or shy of people they do not know. Another thing you can do is send loving energy to your lost pet, creating a strong energetic beacon

home. Some practical things you can do is call local vets, shelters, rescue organizations several times a week, post flyers, use Internet resources like Pet Finders and social media to get the information out to a broader audience. Most large neighborhoods have a social media app as well, post a picture of your lost pet along with contact information there as well. Often neighbors will post information there if they see the lost pet, or if they have found a pet that may be yours. Animal communicators can often be helpful in helping you find your lost pet. We are able to telepathically communicate with the lost pet, and provide information back to the client about what is around them, and (if the animal is able to remember) how the animal got where they are. Often a lost animal has a sense of how far they are from home, and that can help their humans refine the search area. If you find a dog or cat that may be lost, one of the first things to do is to find out if they are microchipped. A local vet or shelter should be able to scan the animal for you. Next, take several pictures of the animal and post them out on social media, hang posters, and call shelters, vets and rescues in your area. Keep in mind that animals can travel several miles from home before they are found, so expand out your calling circle accordingly. We hope that we have given you some things to think about that will help you and your family keep your pets safe and at home.
