Welcome to the 12th edition of Infinite Beyond. Where has the time gone?

Our mobile demonstration unit made an appearance again at the Great Yorkshire Show for four packed days of demonstrations, enquiries of bespoke systems and of course the odd ice cream! This year the weather was somewhat changeable, rainy set up, then a mixture of rain and sunshine but at least it was warm and we managed to use the umbrellas we bought for last year but never needed them. Although the winner of our competition Claire Jones managed the sunny day. Some of our existing customers popped into see us too which was really nice and I may have even joined them with a light refreshment before they headed on to see the rest of the show. With this being our fourth year exhibiting it does now feel like we

are part of the furniture. We are looking forward to meeting the visitors again at their property to work out the requirements.

Each of our employees as usual all joined us for a day at the show, you may see some familiar faces on pages 4 and 5.

In this newsletter we have some interesting did you know’s, a historical article on the Securitas Depot Robbery, a case study provided by Adomast Manufacturing and of course, our famous count the pumpkins competition so keep your eyes peeled for info on page 7.

In the hot seat this time is Cathy our Fire Risk Assessor with a brand new set of questions.

I hope you enjoy this issue and don’t forget to keep your eye out on socials for what we are getting up to.

FIRE & SECURITY NEWSLETTER ISSUE 12 AUTUMN 2023

Did you know?...

A majority of uncontrolled fires are started by small objects, such as cigarettes and candles.

When squirrels are hiding nuts for winter, their brains get bigger. This helps them remember where they hide their food.

In 2013, burglaries and reported break-ins totalled 35,798 in September, before leaping to 39,953 in October and peaking at 40,391 in November.

Camp-fires can burn up to 480 degrees Celsius (900 degrees Fahrenheit). That’s hot enough to melt down soft metals like lead and zinc.

Until 1959 it was illegal to not celebrate Bonfire Night in Britain. During this time there was only one place in the UK that refused to celebrate the failed attempt. In respect to their alumni, St Peter’s School in York, where Guy Fawkes attended, was excused from burning a photo of its former pupil.

The fallen dead leaves on the ground help protect seeds through the winter. They also help protect underground bee nests.

The autumn season is well known as the cooling-off season as the temperatures everywhere start to go down and drop.

During the autumn equinox, the sun shines directly on the equator, and the northern and southern hemispheres get the same amount of rays. There are more than 7500 variants of apples. Only Americans call autumn Fall. The full moon closest to the autumn equinox is a “harvest moon”.

WHAT: SECURITAS DEPOT ROBBERY WHEN: 22ND FEBRUARY 2006 WHERE: TONBRIDGE, ENGLAND

On the 22nd of February 2006, one of the UKs largest cash robbery heists was carried out and they almost succeeded.

The heist began on 21st February 2006, with the kidnapping of Colin Dixon, the depot manager. Two of the Seven gang members posed as policemen and managed to pull Colin over, when he was driving home along the A249 near Stockbury. They were able to convince Colin to pull stop due to their car impersonating that of an unmarked police car. He was told to turn off his engine and leave his vehicle. The gang members handcuffed him and put into the back of the unmarked car. The kidnapping soon became apparent to Colin when they held him at gun point. The two men drove him to Elderden Farm, near Staplehurt.

At around the same time of Colin’s kidnapping, two other gang members targeted the Dixon’s family home and seized his wife and 8-year-old son. The gang transported them to the farm where Colin was being held. The gang began their interrogation and threatened Colin’s wife, and son’s lives if he didn’t cooperate

with their plan.

Around 01:00am on 22nd February 2006, the Dixon’s were transported in separate vehicles to the Securitas Depot, arriving at approximately 01:21am where Colin was forced to help the gang evade the building’s security system.

Once the gang gained entry, the heavily armed men detained 14 staff members, along with Mrs Dixon and their son, in empty cash cages. They managed to fill 17 empty cash cages and 3 trolleys full of bank notes and loaded it into their truck. The building’s CCTV recorded the entire robbery and around 02:36am, they made their getaway.

Around 30 minutes after the gang departed, a staff member managed to break free from the cash cage, released everyone else and raised the alarm immediately. Thankfully, none of the victims involved in the robbery were harmed.

The gang members made off with £53,116,760 in stolen cash in the 75-minute-long heist. The largest cash robbery in British History!

Kent Police immediately started their extensive investigation and within 72 hours of the robbery, enough evidence had been gathered for a suspect list, including two burnt out cars and DNA samples. As investigations progressed, more evidence was obtained including a white van that was found in the Ashford International Hotel car park, containing £1.3 million in cash, balaclavas, and heavy firearms. Several cash cages and money bags were also found dumped in a field, near Detling.

Where most of the robbers wore balaclavas to hide their identity, it became clear to the Police that a local MUA assisted

some of the men to help protect their identities, by providing prosthetics. This eventually led the MUA to turn Queen’s Evidence, to testify against the men, in exchange for immunity.

Kent Police said the heist had been meticulously planned by an organised crime gang and believed MMA fighter Lee Murray, was the mastermind behind this astute heist. Other suspects included the gangs inside man, Emir Hysenja, who had started working at the depot two months prior to the robbery and provided the gang with video footage from inside the warehouse, using a small body camera. Also involved in the heist was Stuart Royle, Lea Rusha, Roger Coutts, Jetmir Bucpapa and Paul Allen. After a 7-month long trial, they were sentenced to life imprisonment.

By 2007 police had recovered £21 Million and made 36 associated arrests. However, the aftermath of what took place that night led to Securitas to shut down the handling of cash and eventually sold the Depot.

The Great Yorkshire Show 2023

It was great to be back at the Great Yorkshire Show this year, utilising our upgraded state of the art Demonstration Unit which was originally showcased at the Great Yorkshire Show in 2022.

Safe to say that we definitely had a fabulous record breaking show for us, even though we had some rain –surprisingly this made us a lot busier, probably because we had some protection from the rain! After totting everything up, we went through: 200 pots of Jellybeans, 150 Bottles of Water, 120 Information Packs, 100 Children’s Goody Bags, 96 Bottles of Peroni, 70 Glasses of Pimms & Lemonade and 1 box of Umbrellas!

The one and only Hayley ‘B’ put many hours of hard work with a lot of blood, sweat and tears into crocheting our very own Ewe, Moo and Piggy too! The

youngest member of the Infinite Family wanted to take these home with her after the show, we had to decline this offer to give them a new home as we knew that we would not see them again!

Our Farmyard crew had a new addition this year as ‘Cluck’ decided to join the family, but in doing this they all decided to undertake a new identity as ‘The Protectors’, this was definitely a talking point. We were giving out stickers throughout the week, it seemed that the favourite was Cluck under his ‘Protectors’ persona – the adults found this one especially funny!

Once again, the show was a roaring success and it was great to see so many familiar faces, many of which originally met us at the Great Yorkshire Show, some of them have been with us since our first appearance back in 2019. We even had the chance to meet the one and only Peter Wright, aka The Yorkshire Vet! (Sorry Caroline, we know you were jealous about this one as you never miss an episode).

All we can say is thank you to everyone and bring on next year!

Ajax Alarm Systems

The system that just keeps getting better and better, especially for its uses in areas with no power! Even though this is technically an alarm system, there is so much more potential. Utilising the Hub with a 12v PSU and a MotionCam Outdoor gives you instant coverage for the most remote places, with snapshots sent to your phone immediately after motion is detected we believe this gives you total peace of mind. Over the years we have met more and more people with the need for detection in remote areas or for totally bespoke systems, we have been able to design either CCTV or alarms to do the job!

Dahua CCTV Systems

This year we had the opportunity to showcase Dahua’s new Panoramic Surveillance range featuring the new MiniHubble and the Dual Lens 180o Panoramic Camera.

The Mini-Hubble features an all in one design with detailed AI features, 100m IR detection, 2-way audio, and ultra-wide coverage. The compact device is a powerful security solution which is perfect for any smaller spaces on your home and/or business. This camera gives an ultra-wide coverage from 180o to 360o Panoramic views. There are multiple uses for this camera, including parking detection, loitering detection and also people gathering.

The Dual-Lens Splicing Network Camera gives the ability to protect your property like never before! With its WDR, 3DNR and 4096 x 1800 pixel output, you can obtain crystal-clear images even in challenging lighting conditions 24/7 with its use of a small warm light situated on the fronts of the camera. This is the perfect option for minimising the number of cameras needed to cover the property as it is made up of 2x 4MP Full Colour lenses which give a 180o view, this also only takes up one space in the recorder whereas traditionally, this may have needed two cameras to cover the same area.

» Case Study: Adomast Manufacturing

Adomast Manufacturing have been one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of construction chemicals for well over fifty years. Originally based in Waltham Abbey, Adomast is now based in a new production facility near Barnsley.

Over the last decade, Adomast has built a very strong and positive reputation for producing an extensive range of highperformance chemicals which are used across all types of construction and civil engineering projects, and we have supplied extensively to all the UK’s biggest and most important construction projects, including Hinkley Point C, Crossrail, Tideway and HS-2.

Adomast, continuously look to update and improve our product technology by working closely with our customers and our chemical raw material suppliers.

Over recent years as our industry becomes more environmentally conscious, Adomast Manufacturing has continuously and progressively been replacing traditional solvent based construction products with new environmentally and eco-friendly technology with zero VOC emissions and most importantly with no compromise in product quality or performance.

Adomast Manufacturing Ltd are an ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 approved company, where first - class customer service is at the heart of the business, offering next day delivery service to over 90% of the UK, including direct to site delivery if required.

WHAT THEY SAID:

Where possible we plan to use local suppliers for our raw materials, goods and services. Therefore, it made perfect sense to use Infinite to provide our Fire and Security protection. As a company handling and using chemicals daily, it is critically important that we have a high quality and completely reliable fire and security system in operation. Infinite provided prompt and high-excellent service, including a full fire and security risk assessment around our site. The fire protection system was based on an all-new detection and alarm system being installed. The security system included installation of new PIR detectors and main control panel which allows the

whole system to be set and unset using an app on a mobile phone – the app also provides constant system monitoring and updates.

The installation, system monitoring and maintenance package bundle was very cost effective and all the installation work was carried out very quickly and efficiently, that we have since asked Infinite to annually monitor and check our fire extinguishers too.

We highly recommend Infinite Fire and Security and Adomast look forward to continuing working closely with Infinite for many years to come.
