Transcendental Meditation: A Brief Outline

Transcendental Meditation: A Brief Outline The modern-day world is extremely demanding. Most people today tend to be overwhelmed by the various professional, personal, and social challenges they face on a daily basis. It is not easy to keep the work, relationships, and other aspects of life in balance. Trying to manage all these aspects often causes problems like stress, anxiety, and depression. Going for a retreat at a meditation centre in Rishikesh or some other serene destination can be a great way to rejuvenate your mind and soul. Transcendental meditation or TM is taught at many of these centres.

What is Transcendental Meditation? Transcendental meditation is a beneficial technique that allows your mind to settle inward till you experience the most peaceful and serene state of awareness. It is quite different from other meditation techniques, as TM does not involve the practice of ‘emptying the mind’ or trying to concentrate on a single thought or object. It uses the natural tendency of the mind rather than making you control your thoughts. TM quietens the mind and brings it to a subtler state of consciousness until it manages to reach the source of thought. At this state, the mind is calm and devoid of thoughts, but still awake.

From Where to Learn Transcendental Meditation?

The Spiritual Regeneration Movement (SRM) Foundation established by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi would be the ideal destination to learn TM. Its Rishikesh meditation centre is located in the lap of nature which provides the perfect serene and calm surroundings for learning TM. SRM Foundation of India was developed in 1963 and now they have several TM learning centres across the country.
