According to the police, Gade misled the woman by directing her to another bus, falsely claiming it was headed for her destination. Trusting his words, she boarded the bus, only for the accused to follow her and commit the crime inside before fleeing the scene.
The traumatised woman later managed to take another bus to her hometown, where she

Pune Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil confirmed that Gade has a history of criminal offences and was previously booked by Pune Rural Police. Authorities are actively tracking him down to bring him to justice.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has taken swift action by ordering a departmental inquiry against the station master and depot manager at Swargate bus stand.

but came to the US from Canada after fleeing there from Uganda to escape ethnic repression.
He grew up in New York, went to study law, and became a public defender. His career has seen a meteoric rise, starting in President Trump's first term, when he became the Chief of Staff at the Pentagon and Deputy Director of National Intelligence.
Minutes before Patel received high praise from President Donald Trump, who said, Patel "is going to go down as maybe the best ever" FBI Director.
Patel has a polarising figure raising hackles on both sides of the aisle with sharp remarks and comments.
Two Republican Senators voted
along with all Democrats to oppose his confirmation in the vote that he won narrowly -- 5149 in the 100-member US Senate -- on Thursday.
President Trump acknowledged even he had thought his confirmation would be challenging because "he's a tough guy, a strong guy (and) he has his opinions".
Speaking of his mission, Patel said, "100,000 people last year raped; 100,000 people died of CCP fentanyl (CCP is the Communist Party of China from where the drug starts the journey to the US) overdose and heroin; 17,000 homicides. Violent crime is out of control. We cannot have a United States of America where that is acceptable."
Devotees flock to temples across India for grand Mahashivratri celebrations
It is often referred to as 'The Great Night of Shiva,' where millions of devotees gather to offer their prayers and seek blessings from the 'Lord of Destruction'. This year, just like every other year, the entire nation is abuzz with spiritual energy, with temples filled with people,
and the air vibrating with chants of 'Har Har Mahadev.'
Mahashivratri is not merely a festival, it is a profound spiritual observance. For many, it is a time of personal reflection, fasting, meditation, and purification.
Devotees often refrain from food and water to demonstrate their devotion and surrender to the
divine. The night is dedicated to Shiva, and people spend it in worship, prayer, and recitation of sacred texts.
It is believed that on this night, Lord Shiva performed the 'Tandav', the cosmic dance of creation, preservation, and destruction, making it a momentous occasion for spiritual
renewal.
The celebrations, however, vary from region to region. While many observe a strict fast, others engage in a variety of rituals including the worship of the Shiva Lingam, the performance of 'abhishekam (ritual bathing of the Shiva)', and participation in grand processions.
Temples across the country dedicated to Lord Shiva are witnessing huge crowds of devotees, all eager to offer their prayers and receive the blessings of Bholenath (as Lord Shiva is affectionately called).
In Patna, Bihar, the Khajpura Shiv Temple has been the focal point of the celebrations.

The recognition acknowledges key advancements, such as the introduction of a new car safety assessment programme and the mandate for anti-lock braking systems (ABS) in all new twowheelers manufactured in the country.
The global awards for road safety were presented at the 4th Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, held in Marrakech. India shared this honour with Morocco,
which was also recognised for its contributions to road safety.
Heads of Transportation from various countries across the world attended the Marrakech conference convened to draw up strategies for reducing "global road fatalities by 50 per cent by 2030".

Farmers in Andhra Pradesh are in distress: Jagan
Amaravati, Feb 19 (IANS) YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday claimed that farmers in Andhra Pradesh are in distress as they are unable to get remunerative prices for their produce.
The former Chief Minister, who visited the Mirchi Yard in Guntur and interacted with farmers, told media persons that ever since the TDP-led coalition government came to power, farmers are not only deprived of Minimum Support Price (MSP) but there are no buyers for their produce.
He alleged that no crop is fetching the MSP for farmers. "Take any crop, whether black gram, green gram, tomato or cotton, farmers are not getting the MSP," he said.
Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded that Chief Minister N.
Chandrababu Naidu should visit the Mirchi Yard and rescue farmers.
He said that the mirchi (chillies) rate has drastically fallen from Rs 27,000 to Rs 8,000 per quintal and yield per acre has also come down drastically when compared to the previous year. Above this, the input costs have gone up and the tenant farmers are bearing the brunt. The situation is the same in Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Prakasam, Kurnool and Anantapuram districts, he said while accusing Chandrababu Naidu-led government of selling farmers to middlemen.
"Despite such a grave situation, there is no review from the government side and the Chief Minister and the Agriculture Minister have no concern for farmers, leaving them in the lurch. Chandrababu Naidu and his coalition government have not only let down the farmers but also stopped all the revolutionary reforms brought in by the YSRCP government," he said.
Jagan Mohan Reddy recalled that when his YSRCP was in power, it was giving MSP not just for chillies, turmeric and onions but for 24 crops.

Addressing the farmers, Chouhan said the “government is committed to the welfare of them and that the government has been making regular necessary policy interventions to address issues being faced by the farmers”. “The Narendra Modi-led government
is committed to the welfare of the farmers. We listened to the views of Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher. We had a good discussion,” Chouhan said, adding “The discussions will continue and the next meeting will be held on March 19”. However, farmer leaders reiterated their demand before the government and it has sought reports and data they cited, which the farmer leaders have agreed to provide to the government. The government assured that it will study the reports and data, based on which discussions will be taken forward.

Australia says China failed to inform of live-fire drills conducted off coastline
Canberra, Feb 22 (IANS) The Australian government on Saturday confronted China as it failed to give a satisfactory answer for its inadequate notice ahead of its live-fire training exercise in the waters between Australia and New Zealand.
The live-fire exercises conducted on Friday by Chinese warships caused commercial flights between Australia and New Zealand to divert their routes.
An Australian Defence spokesperson on Friday said that the Chinese warships failed to inform the Australian military of the live exercise, and instead simply issued a "verbal radio broadcast on a civil aircraft channel" of its plan to conduct the activity, according to a report by local media.
In an interview with local media,
Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles said, "When we do an activity of this kind, we would typically give 12 to 24 hours' notice. The point is that it allows any plane which is coming near where we are the opportunity to plan a route around the exercise that we're doing. And you don't have the kind of mid-air disruption that we saw yesterday, and you don't have those disconcerting circumstances."
He stated that "what happened yesterday was that the notice that was provided was very short. It was obviously very disconcerting for the airlines involved in transTasman flights."
"It's the responsibility of any navy, any military, to make sure that when do undertake any live firing, you are doing so in a manner which is safe relative to any commercial traffic, be it sea or air, which is in the vicinity," he further added.
Another point that Marles raised is that it is unusual for a Task Group, a Chinese Task Group, to be where it is. It's about 640 kilometres off the coast of Australia, off Eden, basically halfway between Australia and New Zealand.
Marles further stated that the issue the Australian Government has raised with China is the period of notice. And the Australian Government has done that both in Canberra, and in Beijing, as Foreign Minister of Australia, Penny Wong raised this directly with Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong also said that she demanded an explanation for the conduct of Chinese naval vessels.
Taking to X, she posted, "Today, I met with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in South Africa. Calm and consistent dialogue with China enables us to progress our interests and advocate on issues that matter to Australians."
"I raised Australia's expectations around safe and professional military conduct, consular cases, human rights and other issues of concern. I also sought an explanation for Chinese naval vessels conducting live fire drills without advance notification," the post further added.
Impact of US tariffs on Australian economy to remain ‘relatively small’
Canberra, Feb 21 (IANS) Australia is less vulnerable than other countries to the impact of US tariffs, the country's Central Bank has said.
Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) Assistant Governor and Chief Economist Sarah Hunter said on Friday that US President Donald Trump's 25 per cent tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports will have a "relatively small" impact on Australia's Gross Domestic
Tropical
Product (GDP).
"We're not as exposed as other countries," she told a parliamentary inquiry in Canberra.
"Tariffs can have really dislocating impacts in the short term, and that's what can generate these big downturns in their economy, and have implications both for GDP and for inflation. Here, our trade patterns are different."
The Australian government is pushing for an exemption from the steel and aluminum tariffs after being excluded from similar tariffs during Trump's first term as president.
Hunter said that the effect of the
tariffs on Australia's economy would be dependent on how other nations respond.
The board of governors of the RBA on Tuesday lowered the official cash rate target by 25 basis points to 4.1 per cent, marking the first cut to the key interest rate since November 2020, Xinhua news agency reported.
The decision was made after Australia's annual headline rate of inflation fell to 2.4 per cent in December, down from a peak of 7.8 per cent in December 2022.
Michele Bullock, governor of the RBA, admitted on Friday that the central bank was "too slow" to respond to rising inflation.
cyclone forecast to make landfall on northeast coast soon
Sydney, Feb 26 (IANS) A tropical cyclone off northeast Australia has a high probability of making landfall on a highly-populated stretch of coast, according to forecasts.
Tropical cyclone Alfred was
expected to turn toward the coast of the state of Queensland over the weekend, citing weather models that predict systems up to two weeks in advance.
According to the models, the system was expected to make landfall next week between Brisbane and the city of Townsville, a highly-populated stretch of coast over 1,000 km long that includes the cities of Mackay, Rockhampton, and Bundaberg as well as several
Australian PM announces 1.5 billion USD support package for troubled steelworks
Canberra, Feb 20 (IANS)
Australia's Prime Minister (PM) and the Premier of South Australia (SA) have announced a 1.5 billion US dollar support package for a major steelworks after its owner was placed into administration.
Anthony Albanese and Peter Malinauskas on Thursday unveiled a 2.4 billion Australian dollars (1.5 billion US dollars) support package for the steelworks in the SA town of Whyalla.
It comes after Malinauskas on Wednesday forced the owner of the steelworks, a subsidiary of the multinational Gupta Family Group (GFG) Alliance, into administration over tens of millions of dollars in unpaid debts to creditors, including the state government.
Albanese and Malinauskas on Thursday said the support package would ensure that staff and creditors are paid while administrators find a new owner for the business.
"There's no industry that is more important for our nation than steelmaking, and here in Whyalla 75 per cent of Australia's structural steel is made right here," Albanese told reporters. The support package will be rolled out in three phasesimmediate, short-term and long-term - and will be jointly
funded by the federal and SA governments.
The first 100 million Australian dollars package includes funding to pay creditors and infrastructure upgrades.
The second package of 384 million Australian dollars will fund the steelworks' operations during administration, Xinhua news agency reported.
The remaining 1.9 billion Australian dollars has been set aside for upgrades and new infrastructure under a new owner to guarantee the long-term future of the business.
"This is not about the survival of the steelworks. This is about a long-term future for steelmaking in this country," Malinauskas said.
The chief executive and chair of the GFG Alliance, British billionaire Sanjeev Gupta, had promised to sell shares in a coal mine on Australia's east coast to repay the steelworks' creditors, but Malinauskas on Wednesday rushed through new laws allowing the government to take control of the plant.
In an internal GFG Alliance memo published on Thursday by the Australian Financial Review, Gupta said the state government was on the "wrong course" and that he was seeking legal advice on the issue.
The Whyalla steelworks produces approximately 1.2 million tonnes of raw steel every year. The SA government has appointed Melbourne-based firm KordaMentha as its administrator.
The firm said keeping the steelworks running would preserve around 4,000 jobs.
Death toll from tropical disease melioidosis in Australia rises to 12
popular tourism destinations.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM), which forecasts the track map of cyclones up to four days in advance, said on Wednesday morning that Alfred was about 1,000 km east of Townsville in the northern Coral Sea and slowmoving.
It said that the storm was at category two intensity, with wind gusts of up to 140 km per hour, and expected to reach category three strength on Thursday.
Sydney, Feb 26 (IANS) The number of deaths from a disease linked to heavy rainfall and flooding in northeast of Australia's state of Queensland has more than doubled to 12, local health authorities said.
Health authorities in the tropical north coast region of Queensland confirmed that the death toll from melioidosis in the current wet season has risen to 12, up from five deaths that had been reported as of February 21.
Of the 12 deaths, nine occurred in and around Cairns, the largest city in the region, and three in the city of Townsville, almost 300 km
south.
Melioidosis is a rare tropical disease caused by bacteria commonly found in soil and water in Southeast Asia and northern Australia. After heavy rainfall it becomes airborne.
Queensland's tropical northern coast was hit by widespread flooding earlier in February, with many towns getting record rainfall for the month in a matter of days.
There have been 53 confirmed cases of melioidosis in Carins and 34 cases in Townsville since the start of 2025, Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported, citing Jacqueline Murdoch, director of the Tropical Public Health Services.
"It absolutely is a record-breaking year. Certainly we haven't seen anything like this and the numbers are very alarming," said Murdoch on Tuesday.
Trump slams Zelensky, says he could have joined peace talks with Russia in Riyadh
Washington, Feb 20 (IANS) US
President Donald Trump has hit out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming that he had done a "terrible job" and could have joined peace talks with Russia in Saudi Arabia if he wanted to.
Trump's statement at a press conference comes hours after he also called Zelensky a "dictator" on social media.
"A Dictator without Elections, Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left," Trump posted.
Notably, President Zelensky was absent from the meeting, and he made a statement after the high-level talks that his country would not accept any outcome of the war since it was left out of the negotiations to end it.
The US officially began a series of negotiations with Russia to end
the war in Ukraine
During a press conference held at his Florida residence, Trump doubled down and said, "Russia wants to do something. They want to stop the barbarianism that's going on over there. Soldiers are being killed by thousands on a weekly basis. Apart from Russian and Ukrainian soldiers, a lot of Koreans have been killed. We want to end it. It's a senseless war. It should have never happened."
He also blamed Ukrainian President Zelensky for starting the three-year-long conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
He said, "Today I heard, ‘Oh, well, we weren't invited.' Well, you been there for three years. You should have ended it three years ago. You should have never started it. You could have made a deal."
Trump, who is trying to bring the fighting to a close on terms that Kyiv says are too favourable to Moscow, used an extended social media post on his Truth Social platform to lash out at Zelensky and call the Ukrainian a "dictator without elections".
"Think of it, a modestly successful
comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn't be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the US and 'TRUMP', will never be able to settle," Trump said of Zelensky, who was a popular television star in Ukraine before running for office.
The US has obligated about $183 billion since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, according to the US special inspector general, conducting oversight of American assistance to Ukraine.
While Ukraine claims to be left out from the negotiations, the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reassured that they will be an important part of any decisions made on the conflict-ridden territory.
Rubio, as quoted by the media, said, "No one is being sidelined here. Obviously, there's going to be engagement and consultation with Ukraine, with our partners in Europe and others. But ultimately, the Russian side will be indispensable to this effort."
Iran’s supreme leader says US ‘foolish’ plans for Gaza to lead nowhere
Tehran, Feb 19 (IANS) Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that US "foolish" plans for Gaza and Palestine "will lead nowhere."

Paris, Feb 20 (IANS) French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou survived his sixth no-confidence vote since taking office on December 13 last year.
The no-confidence vote, initiated by the Socialist Party (PS), received only 181 votes in the French National Assembly, far below the 289 needed to unseat Bayrou, according to the results announced by the Speaker's representative on Wednesday night.
The PS launched the noconfidence vote on Monday in protest against Bayrou's use of the term "migratory submersion".
The left-wing party accused him of accelerating France's "political and moral decline".
The far-right party National Rally (RN) had previously announced that it would not support the no-confidence vote, Xinhua news agency reported.

Earlier on February 10, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is discussing US President Donald Trump's "revolutionary, creative vision" on the Gaza Strip, the one that Trump is "very determined to implement."
Trump's plan "opens up many possibilities for us," Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting after his return from Washington to Israel, according to a statement released by Netanyahu's office.

Challenging Trump on the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion on Tuesday, the Western nations managed to pass two resolutions naming Moscow as the aggressor in Ukraine.
In a strange spectacle, the US joined Russia to vote against a
resolution put forward by Ukraine and Western nations condemning Russia’s invasion, while China abstained.
The resolution was adopted with 93 votes for it, and 18 against it, with 65 abstentions.
In the environment of confrontation, the votes were significantly lower than the 141 votes a similar resolution received in 2023. (India had abstained on that vote).
(LFI) said that it would vote in favour, despite acknowledging that the Socialists didn't support LFI's no-confidence votes against Bayrou.
Bayrou was appointed Prime Minister by French President Emmanuel Macron on December 13 after his predecessor Michel Barnier was ousted in a noconfidence vote.
Bayrou has survived the last in a series of four no-confidence motions levelled against his government over a period of mere days. But as he looks down from what he called a budgetary "Himalaya," the 73-year-old centrist veteran faces a rocky road ahead, with little to hold on to.
Bayrou effectively opened a debate on the subject last month when he said it felt as if parts of France were being "flooded" by immigrants. The comments, which echoed far-right rhetoric on migration, threatened to upend his efforts to get the Socialists to back his budget. The party said it was outraged and vowed to put forward its own no-confidence motion over the government's refusal to uphold "republican values" once the budget was finalised.
Threat from China looming, Japan and Philippines begin strategic dialogue
Manila, Feb 24 (IANS) Japan and the Philippines on Monday agreed to establish a strategic dialogue between the defence forces of both nations taking into account the rising security threats from China in the Indo-Pacific region.
Japanese Defence Minister General Nakatani and his Philippines counterpart Gilberto Teodoro met on Monday and agreed to set up a highlevel framework to promote further defence equipment and technology cooperation. He further stated "With the increasingly severe security environment, we firmly agreed on the need to elevate defence cooperation to a higher level". Both countries also agreed to deepen ties with their allies, including the United States and Australia, considering the increasing Chinese military activities and territorial claims in regional waters.
Relations between Japan and
China have deteriorated over territorial disputes, including the Senkaku Islands, in recent years. On the other hand, Chinese military activities in South China have significantly increased, resulting in heightened tensions in Sino-Philippines relations. The Philippines' most contentious disputes with China centers mainly on the Scarborough Shoal and Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.
Last week, the Philippines Coast Guard condemned "dangerous" maneuvers by a Chinese Navy helicopter as it flew within three metres (10 feet) of a surveillance flight carrying a group of journalists over the contested Scarborough Shoal.
In December, during the JapanUS-Philippines Maritime Dialogue held in Tokyo, the leaders confirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation among the three countries as natural partners and maritime nations linked together by the Pacific Ocean. They exchanged views on the recent developments in the South China Sea and reaffirmed their opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force. They shared the view to further deepen maritime cooperation to realise a free and open Indo-Pacific based on the rule of law, stated the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kenya to revise visa requirements to attract more cruise tourists
Nairobi, Feb 23 (IANS) Kenyan
President William Ruto said on Sunday that the government will revise visa and Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) requirements for passengers arriving at the Port of Mombasa as part of efforts to boost cruise tourism.
Ruto said the multiple-entry eTA will allow cruise tourists seeking to explore Mombasa to move freely between cruise ships and the city without requiring authorisation each time they leave the boat, Xinhua news agency reported.
"We will be changing our visa and eTA to make entry into the country easier and seamless so
that there is no paperwork or unnecessary delays for visitors,"
he said in Mombasa as the cruise liner MS Norwegian Dawn, the largest vessel ever to dock at the port, arrived with more than 3,100 people on board.
Ruto said the visa and eTA changes will be in line with recent adjustments made for international arrivals at the country's major airports, ensuring a uniform entry process for all travelers.
The East African country received 6,561 cruise tourists last year, with the sub-sector growing by over 163.5 per cent, according to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
The introduction of a multipleentry eTA, coupled with increased investment in ports, is expected to boost cruise tourism by attracting more ships to the Port of Mombasa, said Rebecca Miano, cabinet secretary for tourism and
wildlife.
Miano added that Kenya will receive eight cruise ships during the cruise season.
Kenya's international tourist arrivals increased by 15 per cent to 2.4 million, up from 2.09 million in 2023, according to the ministry. Inbound tourism earnings rose by 19.8 per cent to 452.20 billion shillings (about $3.49 billion) from $2.92 billion in 2023.
"Cruise ships were at an all-time high a few years ago, and then we experienced a slowdown. But last year, we had (about) 6,500 visitors, while this year, we expect the number to rise as we expect another eight cruise ships to dock," Ruto said.
The Kenyan President urged the private sector to expand facilities to improve the hospitality industry and cope with the increasing number of tourists coming to the country.
Over 1,600 USAID employees fired amid Trump administration reshuffling
Washington, Feb 24 (IANS) The Donald Trump administration has announced the dismissal of over 1,600 employees from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), with additional staff placed on paid administrative leave. This restructuring effort, which is part of a "reduction in force," was confirmed through a communication sent to USAID employees by the Office of the Administrator.
According to the BBC, the
decision to lay off these employees follows a series of legal challenges that President Donald Trump's administration faced when attempting to eliminate thousands of USAID staff members.
Initially, Trump sought to dismantle the agency, but legal barriers were imposed by a federal judge who temporarily blocked such actions. However, a ruling issued on Friday lifted the pause, allowing the current layoffs to proceed.
In a notice sent to USAID staff, it was confirmed that as of 11:59 p.m. (local time) on Sunday, February 23, all direct-hire personnel, except those responsible for critical mission functions, core leadership, and specially designated programs, would be
placed on global administrative leave. The statement specified that employees involved in vital functions would remain unaffected, although the exact number of such employees has not been disclosed.
Billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has led the charge for reforming USAID, aims to scale back the agency's influence.
USAID, known for advancing US "soft power" through foreign assistance, is seen as a key tool in global diplomacy. Pete Marocco, USAID’s deputy administrator, and a Trump appointee, indicated that around 600 US-based employees would remain in place to manage the logistics of staff and family travel for those working abroad.
Man who stabbed Salman Rushdie found guilty of attempted murder and assault

Rushdie multiple times on a New York lecture stage has been convicted of attempted murder and assault by a jury in New York. Hadi Matar, 27, now faces a sentence of more than 30 years in prison, along with federal terrorism-related charges, BBC reported.
The attack in August 2022 left Rushdie with severe injuries, including damage to his liver, vision loss in one eye, and a paralysed hand caused by nerve damage to his arm.
The jury's guilty verdict on Friday came after a two-week trial in Chautauqua County Court in western New York state, near the site of the attack.
The jury also found Matar guilty of assault for wounding the interviewer, Henry Reese, who was on stage with the author. Reese suffered a minor head injury during the attack, BBC reported.
Tens of thousands gather in Beirut for Hezbollah leaders’ funeral amid Israeli flyovers
Beirut, Feb 24 (IANS) Tens of thousands of mourners gathered in Beirut for the funeral of former Hezbollah leaders Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine, as Israeli warplanes conducted low-altitude flights over the Lebanese capital.
The ceremony at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium drew delegations from 70 countries, including Iran, Xinhua news agency reported quoting Lebanese broadcaster al-Jadeed.
Israeli jets flew over the proceedings in what Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz called a deliberate message.
"The Israeli Air Force jets currently flying over Beirut during Hassan Nasrallah's funeral are sending a clear message: Whoever threatens to destroy Israel and attacks Israel -- this will be their fate," Katz said in a statement.
Hezbollah Secretary-General
Naim Qassem, speaking via video screens, accused Israel of breaching the US and Frenchbrokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon that took effect on November 27, 2024.
Israeli forces have maintained positions at five locations along the Lebanese border past the February 18 withdrawal deadline, according to Hezbollah.
"We will carry on this resistance, no matter the sacrifices," Qassem told the crowd, which responded with chants against Israel and the US.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei described Nasrallah and Safieddine as "great martyrs of the resistance" and warned that "resistance against usurpation, oppression, and arrogance will never end and will continue until the ultimate goal is reached."
Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli bombing against Dahieh, the southern suburb of Beirut on September 27, 2024. Safieddine, Nasrallah's deputy and successor, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in October 2024 in Dahieh.
Nasrallah will be buried later on Sunday in Beirut, while Safieddine will be buried in his hometown in southern Lebanon.
Both had been temporarily buried in undisclosed locations. Hezbollah announced plans for their official funerals earlier this month.
South Korea: Parliamentary subcommittee passes bill to probe Yoon’s alleged election interference
Matar's sentencing date has been scheduled for April 23.
Rushdie, 77, testified that he was on stage at the historic Chautauqua Institution when he saw a man rushing towards him. Recalling the incident, he said he was struck by the assailant's eyes, "which were dark and seemed very ferocious".
He initially thought he had been punched, before realising he had been stabbed -- 15 times in total -- with wounds to his eye, cheek, neck, chest, torso and thigh. The attack took place more than 35 years after Rushdie's novel, The Satanic Verses, was first published.
Seoul, Feb 24 (IANS) A South Korean parliamentary judiciary subcommittee on Monday passed an opposition-led bill mandating a special counsel probe into allegations against impeached South Korea's President Yoon Suk Yeol's influence-peddling scandal during the 2022 by-elections. The scandal involves allegations that Myung Tae-kyun, a selfproclaimed power broker, took approximately 76 million won (US$53,280) from former ruling party lawmaker Kim Young-sun in exchange for his help in getting her nominated for the 2022 parliamentary by-elections.
Myung allegedly won Kim Youngsun's nomination in exchange for conducting public opinion polls favorable to Yoon ahead of the 2022 presidential election.
If the new bill passes the plenary session on Thursday, the special counsel will look into allegations that Yoon and first lady Kim
Keon Hee were involved in the nomination process of the 2022 local elections and by-elections, as well as parliamentary elections last year.
Six opposition parties proposed the bill on February 11. Those parties believe the Changwon District Prosecutors Office, currently investigating Myung, is deliberately delaying its probe into Yoon, and they said they will look for possible interference by authorities at the Supreme Prosecutors Office and the presidential office of the senior secretary for civil affairs, Yonhap news agency reported.
Representatives from the ruling People Power Party refused to take part in the voting during the subcommittee's meeting Monday.
Earlier on February 23, protests were held across South Korea to rally for or against President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment as the final Constitutional Court hearing of his trial draws near.
Meanwhile, the final hearing of Yoon's impeachment trial is slated for Tuesday, after which the Constitutional Court will decide whether to remove him from office or reinstate him.

Multiculturalism in Australia and India: Lessons from each other
Multiculturalism is not just an abstract ideal; it is a lived experience that shapes societies in profound ways. Both Australia and India stand as remarkable examples of multicultural nations, though their journeys and challenges differ. Australia, a country built on immigration, has woven a rich cultural fabric by embracing diverse communities from across the world. India, on the other hand, has been multicultural for millennia, with its history marked by the coexistence of various religions, languages, and traditions. While both nations celebrate their diversity, they also face challenges in ensuring inclusion, harmony, and equal opportunities for all. There is much they can learn from each other in their pursuit of a truly cohesive multicultural society.
Australia’s multiculturalism is a modern phenomenon, largely shaped by post-war immigration policies. From European settlers to waves of migrants from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Australia has transformed into a nation where nearly half the population has at least one parent born overseas. This diversity has enriched Australian society, bringing culinary, artistic, and intellectual influences from around the globe. However, the journey has not been without obstacles. Racism, discrimination, and social exclusion remain challenges, especially for newer migrants and Indigenous Australians. The country has taken significant steps through anti-discrimination laws, cultural exchange programs, and policies promoting social inclusion, but the work is ongoing.
India’s multiculturalism is rooted in its ancient history. With 22 officially recognized languages, multiple religions, and a vast array of cultural traditions, India exemplifies how diversity can coexist within a single nation. The Indian Constitution upholds secularism and grants equal rights to all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity. However, India, like Australia, faces its own set of challenges. Communal tensions, caste-based discrimination, and regional disparities sometimes threaten national unity. Governments, civil society, and ordinary citizens continuously strive to strengthen social harmony, ensuring that diversity remains a source of strength rather than division.
One of the most valuable lessons Australia can learn from India is the art of long-term coexistence. For centuries, Indian society has navigated religious and cultural plurality, often fostering an organic sense of belonging
among different communities. Even amidst differences, Indian traditions emphasize shared cultural practices, whether through festivals, food, or language crossovers. Australians could benefit from adopting more grassroots multicultural initiatives that foster deeper community engagement beyond government policies and institutional frameworks. Encouraging interfaith and intercultural dialogue at the community level can help build resilience against racial and cultural divisions.
Conversely, India can draw inspiration from Australia’s structured approach to multiculturalism. Policies such as the Racial Discrimination Act and programs that actively promote social integration help migrants and minority communities feel included. Australia's emphasis on multicultural education ensures that young Australians grow up with an appreciation for different cultures, reducing the likelihood of racial prejudice. India, while deeply multicultural, could benefit from a stronger institutional framework that actively promotes multicultural education in schools, ensuring that children from different backgrounds learn about and respect each other’s traditions from an early age.
Both countries also face the challenge of managing the economic dimensions of multiculturalism. In Australia, migrants contribute significantly to the economy, but they also encounter difficulties such as workplace discrimination and barriers to employment. The Australian government has taken steps to improve migrant employment opportunities, but gaps remain. In India, economic disparities between different communities can sometimes fuel tensions. While affirmative action policies such as reservations for disadvantaged groups exist, their effectiveness is debated. A more balanced approach, focusing on education and skill development, could help bridge socio-economic gaps while maintaining harmony. Social cohesion is another area where both nations can exchange insights. Australia’s multicultural festivals, like Harmony Day and Lunar New Year celebrations, promote inclusivity and foster a sense of belonging. India, with its numerous religious and cultural festivals, already has a deeply ingrained tradition of communal celebrations. However, ensuring that all communities feel equally represented in national narratives remains a challenge. Both nations could enhance social cohesion by ensuring that media, arts, and public discourse reflect the true diversity of their populations.
Forging a triangular alliance: Australia, India and the US
In an era marked by shifting geopolitical dynamics and emerging security challenges, the strategic collaboration between Australia, India, and the United States has become increasingly imperative. This trilateral partnership, rooted in shared democratic values and mutual interests, holds the potential to not only address regional security concerns but also offer leadership in resolving global conflicts and promoting stability.
As the Indo-Pacific region faces rising tensions and global crises demand effective leadership, these three nations must deepen their cooperation to safeguard their interests and contribute meaningfully to global peace and security.
The Indo-Pacific region has become the focal point of economic growth and strategic competition. China's assertive actions, particularly in the South China Sea and around Taiwan, have raised concerns among neighboring countries and global powers alike. The need for a coordinated response to uphold the rules-based international order has never been more pressing. While the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, commonly known as the Quad, comprising Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, has emerged as a platform to address these challenges, a more focused trilateral alliance between Australia, India, and the U.S. can delve deeper into specific areas of cooperation, enhancing the collective security architecture of the region.
Historically, the relationships among these three nations have evolved significantly. The United States and Australia share a longstanding alliance, formalized through the ANZUS Treaty, which has seen both countries collaborate closely on defense and security matters. India's relationship with the United States has transformed from a period of estrangement during the Cold War to a robust partnership in recent decades, marked by defense agreements and strategic dialogues.
Similarly, Australia and India have strengthened their ties, recognizing the importance of bilateral cooperation in ensuring regional stability.
One of the most critical areas of collaboration is maritime security. The vast expanse of the Indo-Pacific necessitates a cooperative approach to ensure the safety and security of vital sea lanes. Joint naval exercises, such as the Malabar series, have enhanced interoperability among the navies of these nations, sending a clear message about their commitment to maintaining freedom of navigation and overflight in international waters.
A stronger maritime alliance would deter any unilateral attempts to alter the status quo and reinforce a stable maritime order.
Counterterrorism is another domain where deeper collaboration is essential. All three countries have faced terrorist threats and understand the importance of intelligence sharing, capacity building, and coordinated efforts to combat extremism. Establishing more structured mechanisms for information exchange and joint counterterrorism operations can strengthen their collective ability to prevent and respond to emerging threats. Given the transnational nature of terrorism, such a partnership would enhance regional and global security.
In an increasingly digital world, cyber threats pose significant risks to national security and economic stability. The cyber domain has become a battlefield where state and non-state actors engage in espionage, misinformation, and economic sabotage. By sharing best practices, conducting joint training, and developing common cybersecurity standards, Australia, India, and the U.S. can bolster their defenses against malicious cyber activities. This cooperation could extend beyond security to include collaboration on technology standards and digital governance, ensuring an open, secure, and resilient cyberspace.
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in global supply chains, highlighting the need for diversification and resilience. Dependence on a single source for critical materials and products, particularly in sectors like semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and rare earth elements, can pose significant risks. Collaborative efforts among Australia, India, and the U.S. to create alternative supply chains would reduce strategic dependencies and enhance economic security. By leveraging India’s manufacturing capabilities, Australia’s resource wealth, and American technological leadership, the three nations can build a more self-reliant economic framework.
Climate change and disaster response are also crucial areas where greater trilateral engagement is necessary. The Indo-Pacific is prone to natural disasters, and climate change is exacerbating these challenges. Joint initiatives in disaster preparedness, response, and resilience-building can save lives and mitigate economic losses. Additionally, cooperation in developing and deploying clean energy technologies can address the broader issue of
climate change. By investing in renewable energy research and infrastructure, the alliance can contribute to global efforts in reducing carbon emissions while enhancing energy security.
While the strategic imperatives for this trilateral alliance are clear, operationalizing such a partnership requires careful consideration of several factors. Establishing formal mechanisms for dialogue and coordination is essential. Regular trilateral summits, working groups, and liaison offices can facilitate continuous engagement and effective implementation of joint initiatives. Beyond joint military exercises, there is a need for collaborative defense research and development. Pooling resources and expertise can lead to the advancement of cuttingedge defense technologies, enhancing the collective deterrence capabilities of the alliance.
Economic integration will play a vital role in strengthening ties between the three nations. Trade agreements and investment partnerships can create economic interdependencies that reinforce the strategic alignment of the alliance. Initiatives like the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework can serve as platforms to promote trade, investment, and infrastructure development among Australia, India, and the U.S. At the same time, engagement with other regional partners will be crucial. While the trilateral alliance forms the core, partnerships with ASEAN countries, Japan, South Korea, and Pacific Island nations can create a broader coalition committed to regional stability and prosperity.
Public diplomacy must also be prioritized to build public support for the alliance in each country. Cultural exchanges, educational partnerships, and people-topeople ties can foster mutual understanding and goodwill, creating a strong foundation for long-term collaboration. Strengthening these connections will ensure that the partnership is not merely a governmentled initiative but one that has grassroots support.
The global implications of a robust Australia-India-U.S. alliance extend beyond the Indo-Pacific. As influential democracies, these nations can offer leadership in addressing global challenges such as conflict resolution. Collaborative diplomatic efforts can mediate and resolve conflicts in regions like the Middle East and Africa. By leveraging their combined influence, they can promote peaceful solutions and support post-conflict reconstruction efforts.
FairPoint: Rahul Gandhi’s Mayawati critique a calculated strategy for UP chessboard
New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) It was quite interesting to see how BSP chief Mayawati trashed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in one hardhitting statement, advising him not to point fingers at others but to look into his own self.
Mayawati has always been upfront and ready to whack anyone she finds questioning her political position. After all, she is the patron of Bahujan Samaj politics in the country and knows how to go about it.
The BSP chief has not been as aggressive in election campaigning as the others, especially, the BJP, Congress or Samajwadi Party yet she has her style of making her presence felt. Her party has not been doing well for the past several elections, whether the Lok Sabha or the state Assembly polls, and in particular, Uttar Pradesh.

has, no doubt, been baffling. The results have been discouraging since 2012 creating the feeling that she may have lost the plot. In 2007, the party had a majority in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, winning 206 out of 403 seats. In the 2012 Assembly elections, it won only 80 seats, and in 2017, it fell to just 19. However, the worst was in the 2022 elections when the party won only one seat. At the national level, the BSP won 21 Lok Sabha seats in 2009 but failed to get any in 2014. After its alliance with the Samajwadi Party in 2019, it won 10 seats. And in the 2024, Lok Sabha election, it failed to secure a single seat after going solo.
BSP's dismal performance in the elections has left her followers perplexed. Her electoral base has gradually shifted to other parties. It is this shifted vote base that Rahul Gandhi appears to be
targeting. What he said in his address to Dalit youths in Rae Bareli, where he was visiting a few days ago, was a clear-cut message to the community. His words were carefully worded to impress the Dalits, especially the youths, to stir the thought that Mayawati was not serious about electoral fights.
The Congress leader posed questions to a group of Dalit students: "Behenji aaj kal chunaav theek se kyun nahi lad rahi (Why is Mayawati not fighting polls properly these days)"… "Hum chahte the Behenji BJP ke virodh main hamare saath lade magar Mayawati ji kisi na kisi karan nahi ladi. Hume toh kaafi dukh laga kyunki agar teeno party ek ho jaati toh BJP chunav kabhi nahi jeetti (We wanted Behenji to fight with us against BJP… Mayawati ji did not fight for some reason or the other. I felt very sad because if the three parties (including Samajwadi Party) had united, BJP would never have won the election)".
Mayawati reacted sharply, saying that Congress was the B-team of BJP and had a casteist attitude towards her party. In a post on her X handle in Hindi (loosely translated as): "In the states where Congress is strong or where it has governments, there is animosity and casteist attitude towards BSP and its followers, but in a state like UP where Congress is weak, there is deceptive talk of alliance with BSP, if this is not the double standard of that party then what is it?"
Her dismissal of Rahul Gandhi's statement was swift and intense but there is no denying the fact that BSP's successive setbacks have created a vacuum in Dalit politics. And, several new faces and various parties are trying to create a bloc out of them.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BSP failed, but Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad clinched victory in Uttar Pradesh's Nagina Lok Sabha seat in 2024, securing over 51 per cent of the vote share. This win has indicated that there is space for the Dalit-centric electoral politics and if Mayawati is lacking for some reasons, there are others ready to dive in.
So, when Rahul Gandhi made the comments on Mayawati and BSP, the target was clear – the over 21 per cent Dalit population in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress, which has made the Muslim community the main plank in its electoral battle against the BJP, is now seeking the Dalit community ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Rahul Gandhi strategically started the campaign by creating clearcut doubts among the Dalits and other Backward Classes about the "intentions" of Mayawati in not contesting against the BJP. With this, the Congress leader hopes to bring the grand old party's traditional SC vote bank back to it. At the same time, this is also a subtle message to Akhilesh Yadav's SP that the Congress doors are open to other tie-ups also.
While Gandhi may have started
his political move to woo Dalits, Mayawati has cautioned the community against what she claims is a biased and discriminatory attitude of the grand old party. She has said that whenever the BSP has contested elections in UP and other states in alliance with Congress, her party's base vote has been transferred to them but the same has not been reciprocated. Despite the electoral losses, Mayawati continues to be considered the tallest Dalit leader in the country. She still wields considerable influence over her core Jatav vote bank. After Gandhi's comments, posters appeared in Lucknow and Rae Bareli decrying his remarks on Mayawati and accusing him of trying to "mislead" the community. The posters, put up by Bahujan Samaj Manch, demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress leader's comments though meant to stir the Dalit politics may on the other hand, create a wave of sympathy for the BSP leader, who was the first Dalit CM of Uttar Pradesh.
Although this UP Assembly has two more years to go, the parties seem to be readying themselves for the big-ticket elections.
The 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are crucial for all the major parties – BJP, Congress, SP or BSP.

India a rising power in the world under PM Modi’s leadership: Israeli Ambassador
New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS) Israel looks with admiration to the achievements of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his friendship remains very dear to the country, believes Reuven Azar, the Ambassador of Israel to India.
"We are actually looking with admiration to the achievements of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His friendship is very dear to us. We saw he was the first to call us following the 7th of October (Hamas attack). We saw how he stood by us during the last year-and-a-half. We know that we think alike on many things. We look at things in a similar way. We have similar challenges. Therefore, I am confident that in the coming years, we'll be able to
do many more things together," Azar told IANS in an exclusive interview.
He also called India "a rising power in the world" which is becoming important to Israel, not just as a business partner, but also as an element in its supply chains.
The seasoned diplomat believes that the credit for a thriving, "great India-Israel partnership" goes to the leaders of the both countries - PM Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - as they share a similar vision and have an agenda of development.
"They want to create entrepreneurs. They believe in freedom. They believe in free markets, and in reform. This has brought them together. We have been working with India on many issues on defence, on defence industry, on irrigation and waterrelated issues. Now, we have the challenge to work on issues like high-tech and innovation that create a huge effect on the economy.
Underscoring the growing partnership between the two nations, the Israeli Ambassador highlighted the historic highlevel visit of a CEO delegation - led by Israel's Minister of
Economy and Industry Nir Barkat - to India earlier this month at the invitation of Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal.
The delegation, comprising over 100 top Israeli CEOs from healthcare, cyber and HLS, energy, automotive, retail, logistics and hi-tech sectors, showcased Israel's innovative spirit and advanced capabilities.
"About 80 to 100 companies came here to do business. They met with the Indian companies. We also want to work together in the field of infrastructure as India has a lot to offer in this field. We want to sign agreements to ease business with us... We have mapped all these things we want to do together. We are working very seriously together with the Indian government... I hope that this year, in which we are coming out of this war and are energized to do more things, we will achieve it," said Azar.
As India and Israel continue to work together to develop the India Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and turning Israel's second largest port of Haifa into a major trade hub on the Mediterranean coast, the Israeli Ambassador acknowledged New Delhi's efforts
in improving connectivity and building resilient and reliable supply chains over the last few years.
"Logistics indeed works in networks. So the question is, what is the level of efficiency of the networks that you have that allow you to do trade in a way that is cheaper, that is more effective and is faster. So in this context, the quest of India to create connectivity is very understandable. We want to be part of that. It also has to stand on stable strategic foundations. So the fact that we have security cooperation in our region between Israel and our Arab countries, between Israel and the Gulf under an American umbrella, gives me the confidence that we will be able to execute these corridors of connectivity that are coming from India to Europe, passing through the Middle East, and vice versa. This has huge potential," Azar told IANS.
He also spotlighted several other areas where India and Israel continue to strengthen cooperation.
"I'll tell you why this (partnership) is so special. First of all, when it comes to our defence cooperation, Israel has been the first country that adapted to the
'Make in India' policy. We today stand in a situation in which we have created a lot of joint ventures here. We're producing together on Indian soil, advanced drones. We are producing autonomous helicopters, autonomous amphibious machinery. We are producing ammunition together. Israel and Israeli industries have established factories here that do maintenance for the equipment that we have supplied to the Indian Army. And we are beginning to do R&D together.
"So this is something very special that shows the level of trust that exists both between the security establishments, also between the companies. This is not something you can take for granted. This was something that was built with many years of hard work. And it's very important for both countries. In the field of agriculture, the fact that India has decided to bet on Israeli technology paid big time because today many farmers in India use these technologies and they have been able to increase their crops and to create not only food security but also make India into a net food exporter which is important," he stated.
A recipe for economic resilience
In the rapidly evolving landscape of the restaurant industry, the kitchen transcends its traditional role as a mere cooking space; it emerges as a dynamic nexus of efficiency and organization. As the global economy grapples with uncertainties, adaptability becomes paramount for businesses in the Food and Beverage sector to ensure economic resilience. Consequently, the imperative to streamline kitchen operations ceases to be merely a matter of convenience; instead, it transforms into a strategic initiative geared towards enhancing sustainability and bolstering the overall profitability of the restaurant business.
In this context, Devanshi Tripathi, the Founder of North Star Café, expresses her perspectives on fortifying the industry against economic challenges through the exploration and implementation of measures for kitchen efficiency. This approach is not only prudent but also represents a pivotal step in ensuring the resilience of the business.
Kitchen: The Heartbeat of a Restaurant
"The kitchen is undeniably the heartbeat of a restaurant where the culinary magic takes place, breathing life into the dining experience. Beyond its functional role as a space for food preparation, the kitchen embodies the character and essence of a restaurant. It's the creative nucleus where chefs curate flavours, textures, and majestic presentations to craft exquisite dishes that stimulate the taste buds, creating long-
lasting impressions on passionate food connoisseurs," says Tripathi. "The energy within a restaurant's kitchen pulsates with teamwork, precision, and passion, synchronizing diverse culinary talents working seamlessly to deliver a fine gourmet experience. This highlights the pivotal role of a kitchen in maintaining its status as the epicenter of a restaurant's success, crafting not just meals but memories and elevating the entire dining journey for guests."
A Recipe for Economic Resilience
With the food-service market in India estimated to reach USD 79.65 billion by 2028, optimization of kitchen operations holds immense potential as a strategic move. Each streamlined operation, from ingredient sourcing to plate presentation, contributes to the financial benefit of establishments. Hence, the kitchen's efficiency is a vital ingredient in the economic recipe for enduring success in the industry and here are some ways to achieve that highlighted by Tripathi:
Inventory Management: Effective inventory management is the cornerstone of a streamlined kitchen. By implementing advanced tracking systems and technology, restaurants can monitor ingredient levels in real time, preventing overstocking or stockouts. This not only reduces waste but also ensures that resources are utilized optimally, leading to substantial cost savings.
Workflow Optimization: The movements of chefs and kitchen staff should be synchronized, to attain a high level of efficiency.
Strategic kitchen design and workflow optimization can significantly reduce the time it takes to prepare and serve dishes. This not only enhances customer satisfaction but also allows the restaurant to serve more guests
with the same resources.
Technology Integration:
Embracing modern technology is crucial for a kitchen aiming to stand out in terms of efficiency. From automated cooking processes to smart inventory management algorithms, tech is destined to revolutionize the way 21st-century kitchens operate. Smart AI tools can also help in predicting demand, optimizing schedules and even analyzing customer preferences, allowing for better-informed predictive decisions.
Staff Training and Empowerment: Efficiency isn't just about machines - it's about the people who operate them. Well-trained and motivated staff can significantly contribute to kitchen efficiency. Therefore, regular training programs, clear communication channels and empowering employees to take ownership of their roles can lead to a more resilient kitchen environment.
Sustainable Practices: In the quest for efficiency, sustainability should not be overlooked.
Adopting eco-friendly practices, such as reducing single-use plastic, composting organic waste and using locally sourced ingredients, not only aligns with today’s consumer values but also contributes to minimizing long-term environmental impact and associated costs.
In the challenging market of the food service industry where many external factors can impact profit margins, kitchen efficiency is becoming a necessity. By focusing on inventory management, optimizing workflows, integrating technology, investing in staff training and adopting sustainable practices, restaurants can build a resilient foundation for economic success.

Sustainable solutions for corporate events
In the age of heightened environmental awareness, businesses are increasingly recognizing the importance of sustainability across all facets of their operations. Corporate events, often held in diverse locations, present a unique opportunity to integrate ecofriendly initiatives into business practices. As the global MICE market is projected to reach $1.4 trillion by 2028, embracing sustainable practices during these gatherings becomes even more crucial. This not only diminishes carbon footprints but also cultivates a positive environmental impact. Here's a comprehensive guide to transforming your next corporate event into a greener, more sustainable affair.
Paperless Approach
Opting for a paperless approach is a fundamental step towards reducing environmental impact. By choosing digital invitations and event communication, businesses can significantly decrease paper consumption. Additionally, utilizing electronic registration and check-in systems minimizes the reliance on printed materials. Encouraging attendees to use digital devices for notetaking and providing access to event schedules and information through a dedicated event app further enhances the paperless experience.
Waste Reduction
of cotton, silk, and viscose, with Madhya Pradesh being a major contributor. The state's Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees are renowned globally, and around 25 per cent of India's organic cotton is grown here. The establishment of seven textile parks, including one rapidly developing in Madhya Pradesh, presents lucrative opportunities for investors to capitalise on the state's textile potential, he said. The Prime Minister encouraged investors to explore the potential in Madhya Pradesh's health and wellness sector, with the government promoting public-private partnerships. He urged them to visit the temple town of Ujjain and experience the spirituality of Mahakal Lok. "This is the time and the right time to invest," he appealed to the investors.
Implementing a comprehensive waste reduction strategy is essential for promoting sustainability at corporate events, especially considering that India’s urban population produces 65 million tonnes of garbage annually, with 95 percent of it ending up in landfills. This includes setting up recycling and composting stations and opting for ecofriendly and biodegradable disposable products for catering. Collaboration with vendors prioritizing sustainable packaging practices helps minimize packaging waste. When setting up event spaces, opting for venues prioritizing sustainability in their infrastructure and operations and using reusable and recyclable materials for decorations, signage, and booth setups minimizes waste. Discouraging the use of thermocol and singleuse plastics and exploring ecofriendly alternatives like recycled cardboard or bamboo for display structures and signage further support waste reduction efforts.
Culinary Sustainability Culinary sustainability plays a pivotal role in reducing the environmental footprint of corporate events. Working closely
with caterers to estimate guest attendance accurately minimizes food wastage. Choosing locally sourced, organic, and seasonal food options supports local communities and reduces carbon emissions associated with transportation. Implementing a "no single-use plastic" policy for water bottles and encouraging the use of reusable containers further contributes to culinary sustainability.
Sustainable Transportation
Prioritizing sustainable transportation options is another key aspect of eco-friendly corporate events. Selecting offsite venues easily accessible by public transportation and arranging carpools or shuttle services using fuel-efficient or electric vehicles helps reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, offsetting travel emissions through partnerships with carbon offset programs or renewable energy projects mitigates the environmental impact of event-related travel.
Green Accommodation
Choosing accommodations with recognized eco-certifications and promoting energy-saving practices such as linen and towel reuse programs further enhances the sustainability of corporate events. Integrating educational initiatives into event programs, organizing workshops, and presentations on eco-friendly practices, and encouraging speakers to address sustainability in business operations facilitate knowledge sharing and awareness.
Educational Initiatives
As part of educational initiatives, sustainability can be integrated into the event program through the organization of workshops or presentations focusing on ecofriendly practices. These sessions provide attendees with valuable insights into sustainable business operations and offer practical strategies for implementing environmental initiatives within their organizations. Speakers can address the significance of sustainability in driving business success and share inspiring success stories to motivate participants to adopt more environmentally responsible practices.
Sustainable Air Travel
In light of the increasing global demand for sustainable travel options, which was underscored by a report from the World Travel & Tourism Council and Trip. com Group revealing that 69% of travellers actively sought such options in 2022, the imperative of promoting sustainable air travel becomes evident. Additionally, the report highlighted that 75% of travellers were contemplating travelling more sustainably in the future, with nearly 60% having already embraced more sustainable travel options in recent years.

become even more vibrant, with millions of dollars in investment as part of the South East Queensland City Deal Public Art Initiative. The initiative, funded through the SEQ Liveability Fund, will provide $2.8 million for murals, sculptures, and other public art across the city.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner emphasized the impact of public art in shaping Brisbane’s identity and boosting tourism. “Public art can be a tourism drawcard, and this is an opportunity to invest further in new public art in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” he said.
“Brisbane is Australia’s lifestyle capital, and I want to make our city even better by further activating our public spaces.”
The funding deal, a collaboration between the Australian Government, State Government, and South East Queensland mayors, is expected to enhance Brisbane’s public art scene. It will build upon successful initiatives like the Outdoor Gallery, Artforce Brisbane, and the Street Art Wall program.
Brisbane’s first-ever Street Artist in Residence, Matt Tervo, highlighted the cultural significance of public art. “Public
art is a powerful tool for teaching visitors about the identity of Brisbane. Large, bold imagery can transcend language or cultural barriers to proudly tell people what Brisbane is about,” he said.

Schrinner Council on track to deliver balanced Budget for 2024-25
to deliver another balanced budget for 2024-25, with the latest quarterly financial report confirming strong financial management despite rising costs.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner highlighted the importance of keeping costs under control to ease pressure on household rates and rents. “We promised to balance the budget and ease pressure on rates and rents at last year’s election, and that's precisely what we're on track to deliver,” he said.
The report shows that the Council is on track to achieve a 7% operating surplus, providing a buffer against unexpected cost increases. Spending has
been reduced by $320.9 million, and more than $1.3 billion in revenue has been received to support frontline services. Net debt remains at $3.638 billion, well within the $4 billion annual budget. Meanwhile, major projects aimed at keeping Brisbane moving have progressed, including Brisbane Metro’s turnup-and-go services, completion of Australia’s largest bus depot at Rochedale, Adelaide Street Tunnel construction to ease CBD congestion, opening of Kangaroo Point Bridge, with over 500,000 trips since December 2024, Moggill Road roundabout removal at Indooroopilly, Beams Road major upgrade in one of
Brisbane’s fastest-growing areas. Council has also made significant environmental progress, diverting 37,548 tonnes of garden waste from landfill—a 36% increase from the previous year. Additionally, Brisbane parks have been serviced 42,500 times, up from 38,582 services in the previous year.
Mayor Schrinner contrasted his Council’s responsible financial management with the $3.5 billion in unfunded promises made by the Green/Labor Coalition in the last election. “Brisbane residents overwhelmingly backed our plan to spend within our means while also investing in the projects necessary to keep Brisbane
moving,” he stated.
He also pointed to the recent downgrade of Queensland’s credit rating outlook, warning that Labor’s financial mismanagement would have resulted in higher rates and rents for residents.
“The recent downgrade of the State’s credit rating outlook demonstrates Labor’s reckless management of public money, which will cost every Queenslander,” he added.
With a proven track record of fiscal responsibility, the Schrinner Council remains committed to balancing the budget, delivering essential services, and keeping Brisbane affordable.

A weekend of melons, green energy & mountain views
By Dr Ram Mohan, Editor
What an amazing weekend!
My journey to Chinchilla in Western Downs and the Bunya Mountains was a delightful mix of excitement, exploration, and stunning landscapes.
The highlight was undoubtedly the Chinchilla Melon Festival, which is easily one of the most
unique events in Queensland.
From melon skiing to the uproarious dunny derby, it was a lively celebration that perfectly showcased Chinchilla’s reputation as the Melon Capital of Australia.
The atmosphere in town was electric, and I couldn’t resist joining in on the festive spirit.
However, the trip offered much
more than just a focus on melons! I seized the chance to check out Western Downs’ green energy projects, a region making significant strides in renewable energy and sustainability.
With expansive solar farms and impressive battery storage systems, it was captivating to see how this area of Queensland
is paving the way for a more sustainable future.
On my return journey, I took a scenic detour through the breathtaking Bunya Mountains.
Strolling among the ancient bunya pines, taking in the sweeping views, and catching glimpses of local wildlife were the best ways to wrap up the weekend. There’s
something truly enchanting about being surrounded by the beauty of nature, and the Bunya Mountains certainly delivered on that front.
From fun festivities at the Melon Festival to glimpsing the future of energy and immersing myself in exquisite landscapes, this trip had everything I could have hoped for. Chinchilla and Western Downs, you have truly impressed me!

Meanwhile, India skipper Rohit Sharma remained in the third spot and 45 rating points behind his fellow Indian opener. South African Heinrich Klaasen (756) and New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell (740) round off the top five in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Sri Lanka dasher Charith Asalanka (up eight spots to eighth) also makes ground inside the top 10, while Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan climbs six places to 15th with a new careerhigh rating.

Kashmiri Pandits celebrate Mahashivratri, their holiest religious festival

PM Modi said on X, "Herath Poshte!"
Srinagar Deputy Commissioner (DC), Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat launched the first leg of the mega event with painting and calligraphy competition at Jhelum River Front showcasing culture, heritage and tradition of Kashmir Valley.
The Srinagar Heritage Festival that commenced from Tuesday (February 25) will continue till February 28 has been organised by the Srinagar district administration in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts to preserve the essence of Kashmir's heritage, cultural legacy and traditional practices for future generations.
"This festival is closely associated with the vibrant culture of our Kashmiri Pandit sisters and brothers."
"On this auspicious occasion, I wish for harmony, good health and prosperity for everyone. May it also fulfill dreams, create new opportunities and bring lasting happiness for all."
Kashmiri Pandits historically have been celebrating the Mahashivratri as the community is constituted by Shaivite Brahmins.
Other than being a holy religious festival, Mahashivratri has been a symbol of the eclectic, multireligious culture of Kashmir.
This centuries-old festival of religious tolerance and brotherhood begins with the nightlong 'Puja' on the first day. This would be followed by Muslim neighbours and friends calling on their Pandit brothers to greet them the next day.
"In my 35 years in Kashmir till we migrated in 1990s, there hasn't been a single Shivratri when our Muslim neighbours and friends were not invited for dinner."
"One special dish prepared on every Shivratri is fish cooked with lotus stems called the 'Nadru' and radish. Other dishes would be an addition to this main delicacy of the festival."
"After our migration, we still cook fish with Nadru and radish, but this dish hasn't ever since tasted the same because of the absence of our Muslim friends and neighbours on the Shivratri dinner."
"My first Shivratri greetings still come from my Muslim friends back in the Valley, but those greeting phone calls make me more nostalgic," said G.L. Daftari, who lives in Roop Nagar locality of Jammu after his family migrated from Fateh Kadal area of old city Srinagar.
Srinagar Heritage Festival "Soun Meeraas", an initiative of the district administration, aimed to celebrate Srinagar's rich cultural
heritage begins to highlight local tradition, culture, heritage and art, through live exhibitions and demonstrations.

Oman
Defined by age-old culture and innovation, Oman strives to achieve a net-zero future and preserve its ecosystem by encouraging sustainable practices. In Oman’s capital, Muscat, the grand five-star resort, Shangri-La Al Barr Jissah, has taken steps to realise this vision. As one of five turtle nesting sites in the country, its beaches welcome hundreds of turtles every year, serving as a safe sanctuary for these creatures to proliferate. Guests are invited to witness hatchings and watch daily Turtle Talks at the hotel’s Eco Centre to initiate the young generation into learning about biodiversity. Protecting the natural habits of critically endangered sea creatures is a priority for the team at the resort, and so their Turtle Care Project aims to protect the rare hawksbill and green turtle species through supervision and protection. The resort is actively working towards eliminating the use of single-use plastic and has adopted ways like using refilled bottles, drinking water fountains across the property, and replacing plastic straws with metallic ones.

It is home to scores of wildlife sanctuaries, like the Amboseli National Park, which is known for accommodating thousands of African animals, birds, and reptile species, as well as the Maasai tribe. The best way to immerse into Amboseli is to book a stay at Ol Tukai Lodge, an elegant ecorated lodge that offers stunning views of glacier-capped Mount Kilimanjaro and the wetlands of the park outside. Being at the heart of nature, the lodge demonstrates its dedication to promoting vegetation and animals by undertaking activities like reforestation. Planting trees in areas that have been deforested contributes to combating climate change to fostering biodiversity. As a result of this Ol Tukai Lodge started a tree planting project with various stakeholders. To celebrate National Tree Planting Day last year, Ol Tukai Lodge collaborated with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to plant over 1,300 trees around the park. This was in line with Kenyan President Ruto's ambitious goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2030.

IN-SPACe’s new Rs 500 cr tech adoption fund to boost space startups
New Delhi, Feb 20 (IANS)
The new Rs 500 crore worth Technology Adoption Fund (TAF) unveiled by the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe), an arm of the Department of Space (DoS), will nurture and support the growth of India’s space startups as well as their technological capabilities.
The TAF is aimed to promote the development of space technology within India while reducing the nation’s dependence on imported solutions. The TAF will invest in domestic research and development and will also help build a strong partnership between government bodies and the private sector to position India as a reliable global partner
in the space industry.
“The fund will offer financial support of up to 60 per cent of the project cost for startups and MSMEs, and 40 per cent for larger industries, with a maximum funding cap of Rs 25 Crores per project,” said Dr Pawan Goenka, Chairman, IN-SPACe.
Goenka said the fund is designed to enable “innovators to bridge the gap between early-stage development and commercialisation”.
“This support will enable companies to refine their technologies, enhance production processes, and meet market demands both within India and abroad. Our focus is on enabling practical solutions that can be quickly integrated into the space ecosystem,” he added.
The fund will also support the transition of early-stage space technologies developed by Indian companies into commercially viable products. With TAF, IN-SPACe aims to support a wide range of outcomes -from the development of new space products to the creation of intellectual property that can drive future research and development.
The fund will help promote advanced space technologies and
contribute to job creation along with economic growth.
By funding projects that have the potential to become commercial successes, IN-SPACe is taking concrete steps toward strengthening India’s position in the global space sector. The TAF is also open to all eligible NonGovernment Entities (NGEs)/ companies that are ready to demonstrate the commercial potential of their innovations.
The fund will also provide partial funding to NGEs. In addition to financial support, the initiative will provide technical guidance and mentoring opportunities, which will help companies navigate challenges during the product development phase.
This comprehensive support framework is intended to ensure that innovative ideas are not only protected and refined but also brought to market efficiently.
"The launch of this forwardlooking fund by IN-SPACe is a major step toward enabling start-ups to accelerate their journey from concept to commercialisation,” said Lt. Gen. AK Bhatt (retd.), Director General, Indian Space Association (ISpA), while welcoming the initiative. He said that India is “witnessing a surge of pioneering startups developing groundbreaking solutions for the space industry”.

Bengaluru, Feb 19 (IANS)
To further bolster India’s digital transformation, tech major Google on Wednesday inaugurated 'Ananta' campus here which is one of the company’s
largest offices globally.

opportunity, not just to reach millions of users within the country with our products and platforms, but also have them shaped by Indian ingenuity, helping them become even more useful for the billions of users we create for globally,” said Anand Rangarajan, Vice President, Google Deepmind. Located in Bengaluru, one of the world's fastest-growing tech hubs, Ananta is “one of our most ambitious ground-up developments”.
‘We missed it, Google nailed it’: Satya Nadella on Microsoft’s biggest mistake
New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS)
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has admitted that one of his biggest mistakes was failing to predict the dominance of search, a market that Google successfully capitalised on.
He said Microsoft had initially assumed that the web would remain decentralised, not realising that search would become its most valuable business
model.
Calling it a valuable lesson, he said: "We (Microsoft) missed what turned out to be the biggest business model on the web, because we all assumed the web is all about being distributed."
In a conversation with YouTuber Dwarkesh Patel, Nadella reflected on how Microsoft miscalculated the significance of search, while Google identified its potential and executed its strategy flawlessly.
"Who would have thought that search would be the biggest winner in organising the web?" Nadella said.
"We obviously didn't see it, and Google saw it and executed it
Generative AI most desired new subscription service among youth in South Korea
Seoul, Feb 19 (IANS) Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as the most desired product in the new subscription application product category among consumers in their 20s and 30s, a poll showed on Wednesday.
According to the survey conducted recently on 1,000 adults by market research firm Macromill Embrain, 94.8 per cent of respondents said they have experienced using subscription services through applications, reports Yonhap news agency.
The survey, commissioned by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industries, showed that among respondents in their 20s, the most desired new subscription service was generative AI, at 20 per cent, followed by health and home appliances at 18 per cent.
Among those in their 30s, the top choice was household chore services, at 20.5 per cent, followed by generative AI, at 19.5 per cent.
When combining responses from those in their 20s and
30s, generative AI was the most desired service.
Respondents in their 40s to 60s prioritised health and home appliances, with a combined response rate of 25 percent, the survey showed.
Among the most commonly used services, video streaming platforms ranked first, at 60.8 percent, followed by shopping memberships at 52.4 per cent and bundled internet and TV products at 45.8 per cent.
Of the respondents, 39.8 per cent said they subscribed to three to four services, followed by one to two services, at 33.9 per cent. Monthly expenditures were most commonly below 30,000 won (US$20.8), at 30.5 per cent, while 14.9 per cent said they spend over 150,000 won a month on subscriptions.
Meanwhile, the government and the ruling People Power Party (PPP) were set to discuss ways to improve competitiveness in the AI industry.
During their consultations, the two sides were expected to review AI trends and strategies related to DeepSeek, China's generative AI service, and discuss ways to strengthen the country's AI capabilities by expanding AI computing infrastructure.
DeepSeek fears: South Korea aims to develop homegrown ChatGPT
super well. Understanding a technological shift is not enough; companies also need to recognise where value creation will happen," he said.
He noted that adapting to changes in business models is often more challenging than keeping up with technological advancements.
"These business model shifts are probably tougher than even the tech trend changes," the Microsoft CEO stated. Nadella recalled being part of several major technological transformations during his career -- with the shift from mainframes to personal computers, followed by the rise of client-server architecture.
Seoul, Feb 20 (IANS) South Korea will push to develop its own version of ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot created by US-based OpenAI, acting President Choi Sang-mok said on Thursday, pledging full-scale government support for research and development (R&D).
Choi made the remarks during a high-level committee meeting aimed at positioning South Korea among the world's top three AI powerhouses. The committee was established to foster collaboration between the government and the private sector. "The global AI race has entered a new phase," Choi said, emphasizing that major AI powerhouses have announced astronomical-scale investments in AI infrastructure, reports Yonhap news agency.
He pointed to the emergence of DeepSeek, a large-scale AI model developed by a Chinese startup,
as both a potential risk and a new opportunity for South Korea, which is considered a latecomer in the sector. "The government will provide full support for the development of world-class AI models," Choi said. To bolster AI capabilities, the government plans to secure 10,000 highperformance graphics processing units (GPUs) within this year. As of the end of 2023, South Korea had approximately 2,000 GPUs, a critical component for AI development. Choi said the government will provide large-scale GPU resources and research funding to ensure the country's leadership in AI innovation. Earlier this week, South Korea's data protection regulator confirmed that the DeepSeek chatbot, developed by a China-based artificial intelligence startup, sent the nation's user data to a third party, the Chinese owner of TikTok, ByteDance. The confirmation came after the regulator, the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC), announced it has temporarily suspended new downloads of DeepSeek in South Korea over concerns about its data collection practices.
A scientific exploration of herbal supplements for well-being in India
A country like India boasts a rich cultural heritage with wellestablished traditional health practices, including Ayurveda. However, achieving optimal well-being in the modern world presents unique challenges. Dietary limitations due to cultural norms can lead to micronutrient deficiencies. Chronic stress, often associated with work-life balance, disrupts hormonal homeostasis and depletes energy reserves. Additionally, age-related concerns like bone health and hormonal fluctuations become prominent.
Advancements in scientific research have led to the development of targeted supplements designed to address these challenges. These supplements leverage the power of natural ingredients often backed by clinical studies to demonstrate their efficacy.
Mihir Gadani, co-founder of OZiva shares with IANSlife some popular options with scientific backing that can empower individuals in India to take charge of their health and well-being:
Protein Powders for Enhanced Health: Conventional protein powders primarily focus on muscle building. However, new formulations offer a more holistic approach. They incorporate essential multivitamins, minerals, and revered plantbased extracts like Shatavari and Tulsi. Studies suggest that these extracts can support hormonal balance (e.g., Shatavari) and regulate metabolism (e.g., Tulsi), promoting weight management. Additionally, these powders often utilize plant-based protein sources for optimal absorption and bioavailability.
Plant-Based Collagen Builders for Improved Skin Quality: Collagen production naturally declines with age, leading to wrinkles and decreased skin elasticity. Plantbased collagen builders with clinically proven ingredients like SesZenBio™ and CollabZen™ can stimulate the body's natural collagen production. Studies have shown these ingredients to be effective in improving skin smoothness and brightness.
Glutathione Builders for Comprehensive Skin Health: Glutathione, a potent antioxidant, combats free radicals and promotes overall skin health.
Plant-based glutathione tablets with vitamins C and E can help reduce hyperpigmentation,
enhance skin radiance, and combat the visible signs of ageing. Research suggests that these components work synergistically to improve skin tone and texture.
Hair Vitamins for Healthy Hair Growth: Hair loss can be attributed to various factors, including nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and stress.
Hair vitamins rich in Biotin, Iron, Zinc, and Brahmi address these root causes by nourishing hair follicles, regulating hormones, and managing stress levels.
Biotin, Iron, and Zinc are all essential nutrients for healthy hair growth, while Brahmi, an Ayurvedic herb, has been shown to possess stress-reducing properties.
Plant-Based Iron Supplements for Increased Energy Levels: Iron deficiency is a prevalent concern, leading to fatigue and weakness. Plant-based iron supplements with essential vitamins and minerals improve iron absorption and red blood cell production. This, in turn, enhances energy levels and overall health, as confirmed by numerous scientific studies.
Omega 369 for Overall Body Health: These essential fatty acids play a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin, heart function, and joint health.
Shedding light on male menopause
Have you ever gained weight, had hot flushes, or been less sexually aroused? Has your partner also noticed any of these things? These are but a few symptoms of male menopause, a medical condition that is largely ignored. Women have a fixed ovarian reserve, which gradually decreases with time and leads to menopause, as is widely known.
Although men do not go through menopause, the sudden drop in testosterone causes them to go through similar problems. Andropause, or simply male menopause, is the name used to describe it. As men age, they undergo a range of changes, including loss of muscle mass and greying hair. A prominent alteration observed in men is a reduction in their testosterone levels.
“The topic is rarely investigated because there isn't much research on it, hormone withdrawal isn't as bad as it is in women, and you don't die from a decline in gonadal hormones. When males experience this, it's usually due to a combination of factors like stress at the job, the stress in a marriage, the
stress in life management, and lifestyle choices, in addition to the hormone decline,” said Dr. Shobha Gupta, Medical Director and IVF Expert from Mother’s Lap IVF Centre in New Delhi and Vrindavan.
What precisely is andropause?
Male menopause refers to the decline in testosterone levels in males. Dr. Shobha Gupta explains, “The male hormone testosterone naturally declines with age, however, diabetes can also cause this decline in production. A persistent decrease in testosterone levels is referred to as age-related low testosterone or late-onset hypogonadism. It is a more progressive menopause as opposed to the rapid onset of female menopause, which is characterized by the end of ovulation and a decrease in hormone production.”
What are some of the symptoms and signs?
A few symptoms that could follow from this decline are fatigue, a low libido, and trouble focusing. In addition to this, there are also the following indications and symptoms.
Reduced mental clarity (bad attention, downbeat mood). Loss of energy and strength. Losing muscle, acquiring fat, and gaining weight.
7 do’s for better digestion
Ayurveda states that good health begins with digestion. Maintaining good digestion is very important for overall health and well-being. Here are seven do's for better digestion recommended by Dr Mickey Mehta, Holistic Health Expert. Food is fuel. Fuel for the body equals nourishment, healing and balance. It equals fitness and a fit body is a creative, productive and long-lasting body. Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of consuming foods that are warm, freshly cooked and easily digestible. Incorporate foods that are high in fibre. Consume plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds daily. Fibre helps to regulate bowel movements and promotes
digestive health.
The addition of spices and herbs is great for digestion. Ayurvedic herbs like Triphala are often used to support digestion and cleanse the gastrointestinal tract. Spice-like ginger is known for its digestive properties. Ginger can be consumed in various forms such as fresh ginger tea or can be added to meals. Cumin, Coriander, and Fennel Tea (CCF Tea) are commonly used in Ayurveda to help digestion and alleviate bloating and gas. Consume foods rich in probiotics, such as yoghurt, homemade pickles, buttermilk, rice kanji and other fermented foods. Probiotics help maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria, which is important for proper digestion. Certain foods can trigger digestive discomfort. Often spicy foods, caffeine and certain types of dairy can cause digestive discomfort. It is better to limit the consumption of such foods. Avoid heavy and fried foods.
Managing dry eyes
reduce eye strain and dryness associated with prolonged screen time, follow the 20-2020 rule: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break, and look at something 20 feet away.
Moods that are depressed or lack fire and energy. Irritability.
Aches and pains in the muscles (stiffness felt).
Sweats or hot flushes
Hands and feet that are cold Itching
Sexual dysfunction
Loss of height
Why does andropause occur?
Testosterone controls several important functions in men. For example, it regulates libido, muscle mass, and sperm production. Testosterone is essential for both bone health and blood production. It is produced in the adrenal glands and testes.
As men age, their ability to produce sperm and their levels of testosterone tend to decrease. This leads to a condition called andropause.
When does a man go through andropause?
The onset of andropause can happen around the age of 40, but it can also happen sooner and last until 70. “The andropause debate has gained greater momentum recently, although not all doctors and psychologists agree that men experience menopause because not all men experience it, and those who do usually don't talk about it. Similar to how women express their feelings, so do they,” said Dr. Shobha Gupta.
Dry eyes can be a persistent problem for many individuals, causing discomfort and sometimes even affecting daily activities. Its syndrome occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears or evaporate too quickly, and the eyes aren’t lubricated adequately.
This can result in irritation, redness, sensitivity to light, and a gritty sensation in the eyes. Whether due to environmental factors, prolonged screen time, or underlying health conditions, managing dry eyes effectively is crucial for maintaining eye health and overall well-being.
Tips for Relief and Comfort
Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is essential for overall health, including eye health. Drinking an adequate amount of water throughout the day can help maintain tear production and prevent dryness.
Use Artificial Tears: Over-thecounter artificial tear drops can provide immediate relief by lubricating the eyes and alleviating dryness. It's important to choose preservative-free drops and use them as needed, following the instructions on the packaging.
Blink Regularly: Spending long periods staring at screens can lead to decreased blinking, which can exacerbate dry eyes. Therefore, make a conscious effort to blink regularly, especially when using computers, smartphones, or other digital devices.
Take Breaks from Screens: To
Use a Humidifier: Dry indoor air can contribute to dry eyes. Using a humidifier at home can add moisture to the air, helping to prevent the evaporation of tears and maintain comfortable eye conditions.
Protect Your Eyes: Wear wraparound sunglasses or goggles when outdoors to shield the eyes from wind, dust, and other environmental irritants that can exacerbate dryness.
Maintain a Healthy Diet: Consuming foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts, may help reduce inflammation and improve tear quality. Additionally, incorporating foods high in vitamins A, C, and E can support overall eye health. Consult an Eye Care Professional: If dry eye symptoms persist or worsen despite self-care measures, it's important to seek guidance from an eye care professional. They can conduct a comprehensive eye exam to determine the underlying cause of dryness and recommend appropriate treatment options, such as prescription eye drops or other therapies.Managing dry eyes effectively involves a combination of lifestyle changes, environmental adjustments, and proper eye care practices. By implementing these tips for relief and comfort, one can alleviate symptoms, improve eye health, and enhance overall quality of life. Remember to stay proactive about eye health and seek professional guidance when needed to ensure optimal management of dry eyes.

the importance of maintaining healthy and beautiful nails, especially during the summer months. Don't let the sun and heat take a toll on your nail health; follow these expertrecommended tips to keep your nails looking fabulous.
Use the Right Tools
Using the right tools is crucial for maintaining nail health. Avoid metal cuticle pushers, as they can cause damage and increase infection risks. Instead, opt for wooden or rubber cuticle pushers. Additionally, always use sharp, clean nail clippers and files to prevent nail splitting and peeling.
As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, many of us eagerly embrace the warmth of summer. However, the need for diligent skin care comes with the joys of outdoor activities and beach vacations.
Before diving into skin care tips, it's essential to understand the damaging effects of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. Prolonged exposure to UV radiation can lead to many skin concerns, including sunburn and premature ageing.
"One of the most effective ways to shield your skin from sun damage is sunscreen. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF (Sun Protection Factor) rating to ensure comprehensive protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Apply sunscreen generously to all exposed areas of skin, including your face, neck, and ears, and remember to reapply every two hours, especially if you're swimming or sweating," says Mansi Sharma, founder of The Honest Tree by Boddess.
Hydration is key. Summer heat can take a toll on your skin, leading to dehydration and a loss of moisture. Mansi recommends
to combat the heat by staying hydrated from the inside out. She says, "Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and plump. Additionally, incorporate hydrating skincare products into your routine, such as lightweight moisturizers and serums formulated with hyaluronic acid or glycerin."
While sunscreen provides crucial protection, it's not the only line of defence against the sun's rays. "Consider covering up with lightweight, breathable clothing, hats, and sunglasses to provide additional protection for your skin and eyes. Opt for tightly woven fabrics and dark colours for optimal sun protection," adds Mansi. "When possible, seek shade during the sun's peak hours, typically between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. This is when UV radiation is at its strongest, increasing the risk of sunburn and skin damage. Take breaks from direct sunlight by relaxing under a beach umbrella or finding shelter in a shaded area."
The founder of The Honest Tree by Boddess also suggests that while selecting skincare products for summer, opt for formulations that cater to the specific needs of sun-exposed skin. Mansi says, "Look for products enriched with antioxidants like vitamins C and E, which help neutralize free radicals generated by UV exposure. Incorporating a gentle exfoliant into your routine can also help slough off dead skin cells, revealing a fresh, radiant complexion."

Chic code: Decoding the next-gen fusion of AI and fashion fabulosity
In recent years, the fashion industry has undergone a significant transformation, where technology is making waves and stealing the spotlight, with artificial intelligence (AI) at the epicenter of this transformation. This dynamic duo of fashion and AI is not just tweaking design processes and redefining our shopping experiences; it's also prompting some big questions about sustainability and ethics in the fashion industry.
Think about predicting fashion trends, and you have AI. Take IBM's Watson Trend App, for example. This intelligently designed tool analyzes heaps of online data to predict what styles are going to be trendy. So, instead of designers relying solely on gut feelings, they can use AI insights to create collections that match what people are buzzing about. AI's impact on fashion design is nothing short of revolutionary. McKinsey's analysis suggests that within the next three to five years, generative AI has the potential to significantly boost operating profits in the apparel,
fashion, and luxury sectors.
Conservatively estimated, this could mean an addition of $150 billion, with the possibility of reaching up to $275 billion. Furthermore, AI stepping into design processes has put creativity on autopilot. Whether it's crafting design twists or playing with patterns and textures, AI is stretching the limits. The upshot? Speedier, more efficient design workflows, enabling fashion houses to stay nimble in keeping up with changing tastes.
Revolutionizing the Shopping Experience
AI is on the verge of revolutionizing industries, already making a significant impact across all sectors.
According to Statista, global artificial intelligence in the fashion market amounted to 270 million U.S. dollars in 2018 and is expected to reach 4.4 billion U.S. dollars by 2027.
In the realm of online shopping, AI is revolutionizing personalization. It tailors your

her 10 years in the industry by this ‘special moment’
Bollywood
actress Bhumi Pednekar took to social media to celebrate a decade in the showbiz industry.
In her latest Instagram post, the 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' actress marked 10 years of her impactful performances and remarkable growth. The actress, who made her debut with "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" in 2015, took to her Instagram handle to share a heartfelt post commemorating this special milestone while sharing her experience of walking the ramp for designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.
They are true icons, and this show was a testament to their resilience, passion, and timeless legacy. As I complete a decade in the industry, this moment feels even more special—a way to pay tribute to their craft and be part of something truly iconic. Grateful for your love and support over the past 10 years. Here’s to many more! @asalabusandeep @cpaaindia @sandeepkhosla @ abujani1 @saudamini08.”
shopping journey based on preferences and behaviour, offering recommendations that boost engagement. Moreover, AIdriven virtual try-on experiences bridge the gap between online and in-store shopping, allowing real-time product visualization. But AI goes even beyond personalization; acting as your digital stylist, analyzing past purchases and trends to curate outfits tailored to your taste. Platforms like Heuritech leverage AI to analyze social media images, helping brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior anticipate trends and align production.
AI's Impact on Influencer Marketing
Influencer marketing has emerged as a cornerstone of marketing strategies for brands across all industries. With the rise of social media, consumers are increasingly turning to influencers for product recommendations and lifestyle inspiration. These digital tastemakers, with their large and engaged followings, have the power to sway consumer behaviour and shape purchasing decisions. In the fashion sector, where trends change rapidly and consumer tastes are diverse, AI is playing a crucial role in optimizing influencer collaborations. By analyzing vast amounts of data, AI identifies the most relevant influencers for brands, based on audience demographics, engagement rates, and content preferences.
Sharing a video of ramp walk, Bhumi wrote, “Honoured to walk for my dear friends, @ abujanisandeepkhosla. Abu and Sandeep have long been the torchbearers of Indian fashion, celebrating our rich textile heritage with unmatched artistry.
On Monday, Pednekar made a stunning appearance at The Caring With Style 2025 fashion show, curated by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The actress graced the ramp as a bride, exuding grace and elegance in a lehenga featuring intricate embroidery and a flared silhouette. One of India’s greatest music composers Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja has now announced that he will present his first ever western classical symphony at the Eventim Apollo theatre in London on March eighth this year. What makes the event more special is the fact that the worldrenowned Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be joining Ilaiyaraaja in this historic performance. Ilaiyaraaja, who will be present for the entire Symphony, is also likely to perform the exclusive orchestra versions of popular songs on the occasion.
Taking to his X handle, Ilaiyaraaja posted a video clip in which he made the announcement. He said, “A historical moment is going to happen. At the Eventim
Apollo theatre, London on March 8th, As the first Indian, I am happy, very, very happy to present my first ever western classical symphony. Be there to witness history happening.”
It may be recalled that only last month, a new video, that gave a glimpse into the making of Ilaiyaraaja’s first English classical symphony, ‘Valiant’, was released, much to the delight of the Maestro’s fans.
The symphony was recorded at the Royal Scottish National orchestra. The video clip that was posted showed Ilaiyaraaja speaking to the musicians of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He was seen saying, “Everyday, I used to record a song or a film score. I am a film composer. Suddenly, I thought of writing a symphony. Nawazuddin Siddiqui gets philosophical about his craft
note, “This one Wil always be the bravest … 3 years of #athursday today … by far one of the most challenging parts I have played as a pregnant #cop while i was 7/8 months pregnant … to shoot an action film as an actor and a mom to be under the given physical conditions was really intense … to shoot in the rain , straight out of a lockdown with all precautions and to carry our baby boy who is now a tad bit older than the film…”
The post further read, “Gosh, it all seems like yesterday—the morning sickness , the early wake-up calls , the many little platforms built to step into my vanity van , the trouser sizes going up with every schedule , the worried look on everyone’s faces each time I took a really deep breathe ( I must admit those reactions were extremely cute and humbling), the contractions kicking in on the last day of my dub ( now imagine the timing of that) … and then to give birth to our gorgeous baby boy who loves the idea of the movies as much as we do. The last image is proof!!! I feel so blessed sharing this … Working thru my pregnancy right upto the 8 th month really made me feel unstoppable in many ways
Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is known for ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘The Lunchbox’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and others, has said that the film industry is like a garden with a variety of flowers that blossom in the form of talent.
The actor refused to compare his craft with his contemporaries or the actors of the past generation. His admirers may laud his ability to immerse himself into diverse characters but Nawaz says that he is just doing his job with honesty. Talking about the same, the actor said, “Main great actor ke tarah nahi, har insaan ko uppar wale ne bahut kuch diya hai, zaroori hai usko find out karna. Aap hi mein sab kuch hai, aap hi mein
brahmaand hain, aap usko find out karo aur ye hi life hai. Hum bhi dhoond rahe hain, main kya dhoondh raha hoon mujhe bhi pata nahi, lekin dhoondhne ki koshish kar raha hu. woh toh zaroorat hain ki apne aap ko find out karne ki koshish kare insaan”. He further mentioned, “Aur kya hota hain na, ki har jagah ek bagicha hota hai, aur usme alag alag tarah ke flowers hote hain, usme Irrfan bhai bhi hain, usme Shah Rukh Khan bhi hain usme Om Puri bhi hain. Toh yeh saare flowers ko milake bagicha banta hain, aur har phool ki kimat hoti hain, black rose ko red rose se compare nahi kar sakte, uski apni khoobi hai”.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s journey from a small-town boy to a global acting icon is a testament to his talent, hard work, and resilience. His performances continue to inspire aspiring actors and captivate audiences worldwide. With every role, Nawazuddin proves that he is not just an actor but a true legend, whose work will be celebrated for generations to come.
His ability to shoulder the weight of expectations while staying true to his craft is what makes him a timeless artist in the ever-evolving world of cinema.
