Hello all, It’s no secret that the charity funding world is getting more competitive every year. This means when local businesses choose to back includem it means more than ever.
One of those amazing supporters is Aviva Insurance, who picked us as their Charity of the Year after a Dundee-based staff member nominated us, having seen first-hand the difference our support made to their daughter.
Over Halloween, we joined them for a Glasgow-themed quiz night at Revolution Bar on Mitchell Street, marking the city’s 850th anniversary David Ferrier and I popped along to say a few words and thank everyone for their brilliant efforts. More than 100 people came along for a fantastic night of fun and fundraising!
Thanks to this and other activities, Aviva expect to raise over £4,000 for includem this year - an incredible result and a great reminder of just how powerful these partnerships can be.
If your friends or family members’ workplaces might like to support us too, please direct them to includem.org/corporatepartnerships or contact directly at comms@includem.co.uk.
Funds Manager David Best,
Festive planning
The Communications & Public Affairs team have begun work on our Festive Campaign for 2025.
Over the coming weeks we will share with you more details on what is happening and when but we wanted to let you know that we are already working on materials such as leaflets, letters and posters for you to share with your own networks.
If you have any ideas you would like to share with the team, email comms@includem.co.uk

Scotland Office Visit
Last Friday, a delegation from the Scotland Office met with Martin Dorchester, Lucy Neilson, David Ferrier, Martyn Walker, Lisa Weylandt and Stewart Philp about the work of our Employability Service.
As part of this meeting we shared the feedback on young people and families’ experiences of the DWP that some of you kindly shared with us. You can read this feedback here.

Big issue open letter
Last week, along with well known celebrities and other children’s charities, we signed The Big Issue’s open letter to the UK Government calling for ambitious measurable targets to reduce child poverty!
The letter was also picked up by The Guardian on Friday 31 October and you can read the article here: st

Using AI Responsibly at Work
AI in the workplace: A quick refresher
As AI software is being used more and more and we continue to explore the benefit from AI tools in our daily work, it’s important to revisit our current Generative AI Policy. Please take a moment to read the policy to ensure a safe, secure and effective use of AI within the Organisation.
How to use Generative AI at work
Our policy is clear: use AI tools in ways that align with our organisational values and protect sensitive information. Whether you’re drafting documents, generating ideas or automating tasks, please make sure you’re always following the guidelines set out in the Generative AI policy.
Protecting our sensitive information
· Please do not enter any sensitive, personal or confidential information into any AI Software i.e. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot etc. Even seeming harmless data can be misused if entered into external systems.
· Why? Information entered may be stored or processed outside our control which could lead to unauthorised access or data leaks.
· Many AI platforms operate in the cloud and may not meet the organisations strict data protection and privacy requirements.
If you’re ever unsure whether information is suitable for use with AI, always check with IT or your line manager beforehand.
AI generated content
· Always review, fact-check and edit any content generated by AI before sharing or using it for official purposes
· AI can sometimes provide information that looks convincing but may be inaccurate, out of date or out of context.
· Remember, you are responsible for the accuracy of any information you use or distribute –don’t rely on AI alone.
Please ensure you are familiar with the Generative AI Policy or for further advice about using AI securely, get in touch with the IT team or your line manager.
Let’s make sure we’re using AI safely and responsibly–together!
